Sunday lunch was nice, could have been hotter. Very generous serving of beef. Sides a little disappointing, pigs in blankets were fried, cauliflower cheese not enough cheese & seasonal greens a bit like they'd seen better days! Pub itself really needs a refurbishment

Went in for food yesterday ...Didn't have half the things we wanted...Some of the meals was OK...My husband had fish was horrible we told them the young lady with dark hair was very helpful and refunded him...There was a gal with blonde hair very rude and attitude shouting at my sister well go and eat at your chip shop then then when we left we said thank you she piped up don't bother coming again...What a lovely gal to work in Hospitality!!! We go in a lot for a drink not calling the pub it was just one person out of order.

Best pub grub I've had in a LONG time. Flavourful and the staff brought out soy sauce upon request. Much better quality than you'd expect, highly recommend.

Following a five hour travel journey to Nottingham I called in here! Five uncouth loud mouthed individuals using the f word! This is at 1pm in the afternoon No regard for others No respect No professional ism and nothing encouraging from the staff to at least curtail the mannerisms! Attitude towards others of what the f we are locals! Well done to all! If this is professionalism even on a day off then there’s something sadly missing from those who uphold the Nottingham manners! It’s not a great advert nor a great welcome!

Just had a drink in here . Staff were friendly and a nice atmosphere. Just got one negative and that's the menu. I used to eat here because the food was good . Homemade proper restaurant quality food. The menu at the moment reads like it's a brand menu , Same old and lacks inspiration in my view. But we didn't eat here hence why I have rated it but as a nice venue to have drink it gets a big thumbs up.

We visited this traditional pub for a family Sunday lunch. ALL four of us had a different meal. I had a Sunday lunch of pork belly and it was cooked to perfection 😋 The gravy was gorgeous. The Fish and chips were really fresh and chips delicious 😘 The burger was homemade and very flavoursome 👌 The service was attentive and welcoming, as always❤️ Would highly recommend this pub for drinks, food and always a warm welcome ❤️😊😋

One of our party fancied a traditional roast lunch with mash so I researched the best places for roast dinner in Nottingham and this came up! Booking was easy online and despite us arriving early they made a table available for us. Service was great and very friendly and efficient. Food was good quality and enjoyed by all, extra tasty gravy in a jug too! Overall this was good value and a great lunch.

I have been working around the corner from this pub and went in for lunch which was great and great service too, very welcoming, however the same evening I called in for a pint after work and felt the barmaid customer services could do with a review! She threw the card reader at me which I thought was rude but didn't make an issue as she might not have meant to! I called in this evening and was the same barmaid who knew I was next in the queue waiting to be served but she chose to serve a girl she obviously was freinds with before me and I'd been waiting patiently! I don't like to complain but there's no need for people to be rude that choose to work in hospitality!!!

Been many times great pub for drinking. Late yesterday afternoon very quiet and ate there for first time. Bar staff friendly. Hunters chicken inedible, stringy, tough, no sauce, chips had been standing and reheated and were not good. Complained and told would speak to 'chef' but no feedback. Ordered crisps as not eaten they said they are on the house! So £11.75 for a bag of crisps! Won't eat there again.

staff were incredibly welcoming to my family and especially our dog upton entry. They came and gave her a water bowl and gave her lots of cuddles. Food was very nice got a chicken sunday roast. Really reccomend coming here.

I took some friends here unfamiliar with English food to showcase some of our cuisine, noting its rating was one of the best; if not the best in the Nottingham City for this, reserving a table for Saturday 30 March at 19:30hrs on Sunday 24th. I made them aware of my guest on the booking and asking if we could enjoy a cheese platter, if available at the the end? I received no reply, only getting a reminder of the booking 24hrs prior. TLDR: Not welcoming, bad food, bad atmosphere and service very minimal. Details follow if you want to know more. On arrival, some guy at the bar that I can only assume was either the manager or owner told me we have to order straight away as the kitchen closes at 20:00hrs. Luckily, only part of my party heard this so I brushed it aside. In his defence, we did turn up 10 minutes late. We were sat under a TV showing the football with no where else to sit and I know this might seem like a spiral without a fair assessment but I was truly still looking forward to the food as my redemption but alas it was not to be. I hade the linguine which was overcooked, stodgy with no tomato, another had the noodles with fried chicken whose noodles were hard and had a dried out piece of breaded chicken on top, another had the lasagne in a pot which again was dry, overcooked with some lambs lettuce only and garlic bread (no 'house parmesan salad') 3 others had the sirloin steak which was more like a flat iron as was less than 1cm thick with no pink and tough and also was lacking the advertised tomato and mushroom, just with chips (no steak knife given or offered so they struggled to cut it too) As they were not national, my guest asked if they should have 'gravy (?)' due to its dryness, which I found embarrassing. I thought my saving grace might of been the fish and chips as it looked impressive when it was brought out due to its size and I guess you would like it if your prefer a crunchy batter than a crispy one but again, one of my guest made a joke of banging the batter against there place and it making a bang rather than breaking. Needless to say, I did not enquire about the cheese board or dessert (and was not asked), tried to apologise to my guest saying 'this is not our best' and move quickly on. FYI, when I wanted to give feedback, I was told by my party not to as didn't want to spoil the rest of their evening but the assumed manager/owner was still sat at the same part of the bar and made no enquiry throughout how we was.

We nipped in for lunch on good Friday, haven't been in there for quite a while. Staff were great and the food was good. Both of us decided on the scampi & fries with garden peas. Although some people would say the portions are a bit small it was just right for us. I liked the skin-on fries and the blackened lemon was a nice touch. The ales are Castle Rock and a good range from IPAs to ruby reds. It can get a bit busy when the footballs on.

The best quality Vs price food in Nottingham. Lovely sandwiches with fresh ingredients and lovely chips. Great friendly service and atmosphere. Go here for a proper quality British pub experience without silly prices.

Super pub où il fait bon prendre une pinte et manger un morceau. 4 pintes 1 fish and chips et un poulet au bacon cuisiné pour 33 livres. Un endroit sympa et familial où on trouve quelques plats cuisinés qui changent des plats de brasseries traditionnels.

An issue with some of our food was dealt with promptly and courteously by Manager James, who was very understanding, and gave a full refund to 4 of our table. Top Manager. Table service by Lena was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for her. I recommend the Gammon or Cumberland sausage dishes, very tasty and a good price, 4 stars given for these dishes.

Love this place full of life. Lovely atmosphere, good service and variety of cask and keg. It’s pocket friendly place. Good to be here for my last drink of the day. We all friends really enjoyed there.

Fantastic Christmas Dinner. Unique taste, generous portions, even the Christmas crackers were of highest quality. Can be crowded though. Decor needs updating.

Enjoyed my time at the cross keys

Ordered 2 steak ciabatta sandwiches & the temperature of the bread was as though it had been kept in the fridge. In fact my beer was warmer (but was at the correct temperature). I mentioned it when they cleared the table & all that was said is that she would mention it to them in the kitchen.

Met up with my daughter and grandchildren here for an afternoon Christmas lunch. Pub was packed - it was a Saturday afternoon before Christmas - but we were quickly shown to our table and greeted warmly by the staff. Food came quite quickly considering we had not pre-ordered. It was of excellent quality, hot and tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout, despite the obvious pressures of a very busy day in a City Centre pub on a Saturday. We will return.

We have visited this traditional pub a few times now. Work colleagues vary in age/taste but this places suits us all. Great food and drink offers. Service is both professional and personable. We recently had our works Christmas meal here and would highly recommend it. 😊

My first visit so booked to go with family. I had the beef Sunday lunch. The beef and vegetables were good, beef tender and perfectly cooked as were the Veg. The Yorkshire pudding though we're awful. Overcooked and dry,. When choosing the desert we were told they only had one apple crumble left. This was at two o clock. I could understand if we were there at a later time. The service was great, no complaints there. All in all a little disappointed.

We were staying in the Ibis a couple of doors up ,so decided to give this pub a try, well what an excellent choice. As soon as we walked we were greeted cheerfully by the barman, always a good start, ordered a couple of pints and sat down to peruse the dinner menu. I decided to have the steak and the girlfriend had the hunters chicken, both came out with plenty on the plates, and both tasted fantastic, we complemented the barman on what a fantastic meal it was, we then stayed for happy hour, well would be rude not to, after about 6 hours we decided it's time to leave ,we didn't want to ,but I think we had enough, thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be back up to Nottingham soon, and this pub will be our first port of call.Thank you for making us feel so welcomed, keep up the good work.

Traditional city centre pub In Nottingham. Serving two ales from navigation brewery and also serving standard pub grub. It’s really What you’d expect from a city centre pub no frills but serves its purpose well. Friendly staff. Recommended if in the centre of Nottingham and after a swift beverage 🍻

Top notch Sunday lunch. Very generous portions with great selection of veg and served piping hot with an extra jug of gravy - perfection - worth every penny. Staff are lovely and attentive without being intrusive.

Been using this pub regularly for a longtime & still will for its fine ales etc As for eating there this will be the last time will. A massive dissipointing Sunday lunch ,perhaps wrong word to use as portions were miniscule seen bigger kids portions ,can't fault the quality of the the very small amount on the plate 1st member staff young girl commented to certainly needs up her customer service skills up,the 2nd chap a big improvement who did get a few extra carrots & a pint he agreed on the pitiful portion size but kitchen is under orders for doing such. Perhaps head office should take onboard that 3 very small roast tates isn't particularly generous with no mash when you look at price of a sack of Spuds! Another curious our yorkie pud was an Aunt Bessie then noticed another customer with a much larger looking like home-made one. When you pay £16 each for a Sunday dinner, expect need to go have a Sunday nap would of felt short changed if had paid that for just one. Will still come in for a pint but without seeing evidence that portions have grown to what would expect ,then that was the last supper

A good city center pub with good food, and atmosphere, only thing I find annoying is the TV, not my taste when out with friends, sorry!

One of our favourite pubs in Nottingham and still is even if the food was average at best . We had the two for £12.95 offer but if we're being very honest the dishes were really only worth 6 quid each at best . The batter on the fish was thicker than the fish inside and the lasagna was dry . Staff as always here are spot on . We've eaten here many times and the breakfast is one of the best in town . Everyone can have a off day .

james, the gm, was absolutely incredible. i’m autistic so i have a lot of sensory issues and he was incredibly kind and patient. we had a lovely chat. the food was wonderful, and i would recommend the beef lasagne to anyone who’s even remotely interested. absolutely coming back next time i’m in notts.

Popped in here after a friend recommended it for a meal . I used to frequent the place many years ago…. Place hasn’t changed much in surroundings but decor has definitely improved . We ordered Sunday roast dinners , I had the nut roast which was delicious! Friends had the chicken dinner and the beef roast . All of us very much enjoyed it and found it plentiful and affordable with delicious fresh ingredients . Definitely recommend and have planed another visit in the future. Staff also very pleasant and helpful . Thank you

I came out with some friends of mine last weekend for the England game and had a fab night!! Brilliant atmosphere, Pete the barman was lovely gave us some great wine recommendations couldn’t fault the evening, besides England losing of course!

I really enjoyed my visit to the Cross Keys. Warm hospitality from the Manager Pete. He was pretty funny for someone from the South. Food was excellent and loved the ales on tap. Thanks guys, I'll be back.

Despite going in when the pub was extremely busy one member of staff name Pete gave me and my family great service. Making us feel comfortable and not a burden. He was informative and gave us all of the time we needed to ask for recommendations and wasn’t rushing us. Not only did he give great recommendations but helped us with some local knowledge to help keep the kids entertained once we left and went into Nottingham. A credit to the pub !

Popped in this little gem, after being dragged around shopping all afternoon and wasn't disappointed, was greeted by the friendly team behind the bar and recommended the oat stout which really hit the spot my girlfriend had the mulled wine and we ended up staying for 3 more rounds, would highly recommend this place.

Myself and a few friends came in the night of the England vs France match and it was sooo busy. The staff seemed very short handed however, they were doing the best they could. There were no tables to sit at so we stood around the bar and were served as quickly as possible. We did see that the manager (short, brown hair) was getting a lot of hate from the customers especially this one table who were being really loud having a go at her about food not being available. Did not seemed surprised to hear this as there was barely any space to move around let alone with plates and food??? The guy was shouting at both the manager and a chef, even stuck his hand out in the chefs face at some point. The chef kept his cool trying to explain but the guy wasn't having it. People need to be more considerate especially since the staff were run ragged all night. I totally enjoyed myself and will definitely come again. It was a great vibe and the manager even explained and apologised personally that they have a function upstairs so clearly there was a lot on her mind. Disappointed england lost but it was a great place to spend my evening. :)

Never been to a restaurant and been verbally abused by the staff for complaining that the kitchen was closing with no notice after being told that we had plenty of time to order a moment before. Thanks for the offer of free meal and a drink as an apology but won’t be taking it up.

Booked a table for Sat evening 7pm weeks ago before we knew England game would be on, not an issue, wanted to watch the game anyway, so worked out well. We’d booked because we specifically wanted to eat. We arrived 6:45 , thought we’d get a drink first but we were kindly shown to our table immediately and given menus, we fetched drinks and ordered a sharing starter, no problem. 7:05 we were ready to give our main food order but were abruptly told by Leila she shut the kitchen because ‘they couldn’t cope, now there were too many people in the bar. We politely questioned the decision stating we’d booked weeks in advance along with all the other tables, had intentionally not eaten since breakfast and had been told minutes earlier we were ok to order. There was no warning, no apology, she just stormed swearing saying I can’t f***ing cope with this and told the chef, John I believe, to deal with us. We tried to protest with John but were hit with a barrel of abuse. The next thing we knew they’d sent the doorman across as they said we were causing trouble - that couldn’t have been further from the truth and when we again politely explained to the doorman, he apologised for the staffs behaviour. As they were unable to serve us food, again, politely, we asked if we could order in a pizza but were told categorically no, and if we did we’d be thrown out. Whilst the football was on the ‘chef’ was seen stood behind the bar watching the game, it appeared to us and all the other booked tables the kitchen had been shut in order for him to watch the football. Our issue is simple, we booked a table to eat, we’re given no warning they did not intent to serve us and were abused for daring to challenge the decision. Yet, they knew how busy they were likely to be and the door staff were refusing entry ‘unless you’d booked’ thus controlling how busy they were. The customer service from the two individuals was appalling, however, I will add that the other staff and door staff, despite being busy were attentive and polite and the beer was good.
