We spent a lovely few hours here this past Sunday. The atmosphere, food and beverages where good and the staff was friendly. I special shoutout to Amy in the staff that handled one of the rudest rudest customers that I've ever witnessed. The man was completely out of order and was both rude to me and her. She handed him perfectly. Honestly, I'm surprised he didn't get denied a drink or asked to leave. I've seen people being barred for less when being so disrespectful to staff.

Always excellent choice of beers. In one of if not the oldest pubs in Nottingham built in the 1400s. Good meeting place three bars two small ones either side as you go in large bar at the back with large TV s if you want to watch sport. Good mix of age groups.

£6 for most pints and at best 'disinterested' service from some of the newer staff. Told a few nights ago 'oh the madris off.' ok ill have a moretti '...oh the morettis off too... ' are you saying you dont want me there?? No apologies! Regular manager is great but some parts of the pub looking a bit shabby and not the best beer selection anyway

We booked for lunch today whilst in Nottingham visiting our son who is at uni here. We ordered 3 steaks and a pie which took 50 minutes to arrive and when they did arrive the steaks were over cooked, chewy and cold. We had to send them back and they were taken off the bill but 3 of our family left not having had lunch. It’s a shame as we chose the pub based on it being in a central location and the previous reviews being positive. Hopefully it was just an off day but it wasn’t just our table sending back food. We would recommend this pub for a drink as it’s lovely but not for food sadly.

I came here with my wife for the first time. we've ordered some drinks and sat outside. I've got some snack with me and one of their staff asked us to leave straight away. I think this pub is known as one of the oldest pubs in Nottingham. On the 'special' menu was Sausage and Mash and I have to say the sausages seemed to be the oldest cooked sausages in Nottingham and were almost inedible. The surroundings and staff were fine and after being asked how the food was by a member of staff, they didn't really know how to answer my complaint - a bit more training perhaps but that day they were very short staffed as well.

Went into side bar which was empty thank god has I needed a seat for a short time to rest my lags and back whilst waiting for the rest of my party to finish visiting to toilets. Only to be told that the bar was shut at 9.30pm and I couldnt even sit to have a rest. Not a disabled friendly venue.

Friendly staff, nice cosy atmosphere and good food. Special mention to our servers, michelle and a dark haired woman that i didnt get the name of. Don't usually write reviews but felt like the staff here deserved it! Came in with my family and nothing was too much trouble, the lady that was working in the bar spoke with my child andvreally made him feel welcome. Sometimes you worry when dining out with a toddler but she made me feel totally at ease. They didn't have colouring stuff but she found plenty of things to keep him entertained. Dining out with a small one is usually a stressful one but the Bell made it a pleasureable experience for a change!

Visited on a Tuesday evening and the place had a nice vibe with people of all ages and types. It’s a lovely old building with several bars and a restaurant at the back. We ordered a chicken salad and mussels with chips. The salad was insultingly tiny. For £13 it was around a third of the size I expected. The chicken wasn’t a nice warm sliced chicken breast as I’d imagined but was just cold cooked diced chicken sprinkled around. The overall salad was drowned in hot peri peri sauce and was really disappointing. The mussels were apparently tasty but around one third of them didn’t open. We mentioned it to the waitress who offered to give us something to prise them open if they were jammed!! Clearly no understanding of the food and poor customer service as there was no offer of more mussels, any refund or even a word from the chef. Very poor which was a shame as it seemed like a nice place initially.
