Toby Carvery Ainsdale in Sefton

Have visited on many occasions an found to be very satisfactory, this occasion on Friday 31st March 3pm found to be unsatisfactory as food was not to satisfactory standards IE.. vegetables dry cold and under cooked, Yorkshire pudding was flat an hard along with traditional roast potatoes. Have also noticed toilets not be to cleaned to a high standard, also witnessed serving staff behind carvery eating food from the carvery making jokes and placing food back that they bit back very unprofessional and unhygienic to members of paying custom, don't know if this is an ongoing situation?? But for the time of day place was empty, annoyed at the fact have wasted £51 on food that wasn't to standard. IE IF I WAS MANAGEMENT STAFF BEHIND SERVER WOULD OF GOT SACKED ON THE SPOT FOR THE UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR. NOT EXCEPTED WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!!!

Went on Sunday with My husband and daughter and her friend, waitress was lovely and served our every need, food was fabulous 👌

Today I came to Toby with work colleagues and the young people we care for. The staff were really friendly especially the manager Theresa. One of our young people thinks the mac and cheese is delicious. Thanks Toby Team :)

We came for lunch on Sunday the restaurant was so busy we hadn't book but lady on desk found us a lovely table in the bar area with waitress called vicky she was so attentive, we went to the deck were the food was well presented and tasted great. We ordered pigs in blankets they arrived at the table at the same time as we did. Would recommend this place 100%

Went here because carvery is our granddaughters favourite meal. What a disappointment, her roast potato was so undercooked we couldn't cut into it replacement was not much better. Poor choice of vegetables all luke warm. She gave it one and a half!!. Needless to say will not be returning

First time at this Toby and probably my last at this particular location. Went for three carveries and was unimpressed with how dirty the place was and also how dark! Food was ok but due to the fact it was served from the hotplate, it went cold, very quickly. Servers behind the plate were pleasant and our waitress was attentive at the start & end. Not sure why the PIB cant be added on at the hot plate and come as an additional charge?? Sauces & Gravy were left open for all kinds of hands and mess to dip into to.

Hot food, friendly staff. Attentive, not pushy. Tasty apple crumble. Even got crayons and funny chef hat . Thanks!

Me and the mrs visited the Ainsdale Toby for the first time whilst visiting family. We immediately went for the carvery and we have to say it’s the best we have ever had. We both had gammon and beef and it was just beautiful. Theresa our host/ waitress sat us down and was friendly and caring throughout. She even tempted us to have a pudding to top the meal off. We will definitely be here again and hope to see the same faces.

I visited the establishment with my family and it was a great experience for us all. The food was lovely alongside the great service. Staff here were friendly and welcomed us all , making the day memorable for us all. We were greeted by Abi and she looked after us the whole time, we have recommended this place to other family and friends!

I went on a Sunday with my Mrs and kids, the food was great, greeted by the host went to the carvery which was pretty quick after I've been to other carveries it's taken a while to be served. The food was good no complaints from any of our party

Just been for a lunch with mum, amazing food, chefs were really freindly and our server Steph Was fantastic! Helpful, funny and made us laugh! Only little negqtive was the table was not very clean

Went for lunch during half term. We booked online quite last-minute but there was no problem getting a table. The staff were very welcoming and we were seated straightaway - there was also no queue for food. The food was good (ham and turkey) and I especially liked the the mash and roast potatoes and the macaroni cheese. We both had a dessert, which were also very good, and we will probably go again.

Christmas dinner for 14 people. Camembert starter was nothing like a Camembert, was more like a suet pudding sitting in watery cheese. The carvery would of been ok but one person serving on his own was slow and food became lukewarm waiting. The puddings were a disaster ( apart from the cheesecake) brownies and Christmas pudding were so hard they were inedible and we were told we couldn’t change them. Didn’t expect a gourmet meal but for £58 pp, and it being Christmas Day it should of been better.

Had a lovely meal at the Toby Carvery Ainsdale today. Upon arrival, we were greeted and all Covid-19 procedures were explained to us. The restaurant was clean and inviting and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The carvery chef was really cheery and plated our food just as we wanted. The waitresses were more than happy carrying our plates back to the table for us following government guidelines and refilled our drinks for us. We appreciate how hard it must be for the staff during these times and still we had service with a smile. The carvery and puddings were fantastic. Thank you so much Lauren and Alex for looking after us.

I had the misfortune to visit Toby Carvery in Ainsdale today. The only positives were that I didn’t have to pay and the waitresses were pleasant and helpful. The food, cold, bland, dry, and unappetising. Wasn’t helped by the ‘chefs’ and I use that term loosely. One would start serving then another would take over, using the same knife on the turkey & beef. I was handed my plate, but my daughter was told to leave hers as it had to be table service. I may be reading too much in to this but I’m white and my daughter dual heritage. I’ll leave that there. Anyway the meals sat there, just where the Covid screens ended, so the next customer in the queue could breathe all over them, so Covid friendly. I had a couple of mouthfuls, my daughter none, so when the waitress asked if everything was ok it was a resounding no and she said no charge. If it was possible to leave no stars I would. You have been warned, visit at your own peril!

Staff very helpful and friendly food good and hot. But please Toby the building is looking v tired inside and out . Its on a main road into southport I'm sure if you gave it lick or paint and put some planters out yiu would get more visitors

We come to the carvery weekly as its my nieces favourite place to eat! She's obsessed with the mac and cheese and every time we leave she's so happy. Paul the server is so good with her and she always leaves asking if she can come back next week to see him. He goes above and beyond and deserves the most amount of praise. Thanks Paul xox

Last Sunday my friend and I dined here at the Toby Carvery, well what an amazing experience we had. We were greeted at the door my a lovely friendly member of the team and were seated immediately. The whole time we felt covid safe and tables were seated apart in line with current regulations. The food was fabulous, great choice of veg and meat! Our meals and drinks orders were taken and also brought promptly to our table by a lovely friendly approachable chap by the name Jonathan. Our visit was simply superb from start to finish. I live in Manchester and this was so worth the drive. Thank you so very much for a great experience that you furnished us with, and we shall be back very soon! Thank you to all of the staff working on Sunday evening, you were fabulous!!

Just left the toby carvery ainsley very unhappy with the service as the head chef was very rude and they was meat being served for yesterday I was not the only one that was unhappy with the meat will not be back here again

Absolutely shocking, toilets are a disgrace, filthy, considering it's a restaurant!!! No social distancing, no table service as per government guidelines, its a joke... If you want to catch Covid-19, go Toby Ainsdale

Went for breakfast with my wife who is disabled, we were met by Mr Clarke i think he said at his post who demanded us to track and trace! we didn't comply to his orders so we were told you can't enter and told in the same sentence and we're are your masks, we informed him that we have disabilities his answer ur still not getting in , what a lovely non gentleman you have at your reception, is this track and trace law!!??? Or guidelines,????

Like previous correspondents we never saw the newly installed car parking charges on our visit on 28 September. We too received an £85 fine. Suffice to say that we were really annoyed and we will never go back.

Visited for tea with partner and 2 kids . We had pre booked but not sure that made any difference. We sat at the table and were told to queue for the carvery. The place was packed . Roughly 20 people in the queue and everyone rammed together . It was the same at the bar . No social distancing was being observed at all . More and more people kept arriving . Didnt seem to be a limit on numbers . . . The food was ok (after queuing for 30 mins ), staff friendly but it was way too busy , the poor staff couldn't keep up , and not a great experience . Not sure we will be going back.

The usual good quality roast dinner was enjoyed by our family of four at this Toby. We picked the slightly earlier time to visit of 1200 so as to avoid crowds c/o covid and this worked well as it was fairly quiet at this time. In regards to covid, the tables were spaced out to allow distancing and the floor marked at 2 metre intervals when queueing for food. There was also hand sanitiser at the entrance and also where the carvery is served. The chefs dish up all of your food instead of just the meat like normal, but you still get plenty of everything - just tell them what you want and how much! Staff are friendly and when they come to your table they are observant of social distancing and also avoid leaning over anybody. I would recommend getting your carvery fix here for tasty food in a safe environment.

My wife has many allergies. We visited the carvery yesterday. It was so good we came back today. The chef really helped my wife with her gluten and dairy allergies. As always the food was plentiful and of a high standard. Thanks to the government for the 50% reduction!

Sadly, we had a really disappointing experience here last week. Covid-19 measures seemed to be by the way side, the place didn't seem to have been cleaned down well, staff and customers were not expected to keep a distance and it just felt like there was an overall disregard to this. When we received our drinks, they were put down and the waiter walked away straight away, without letting us know which ones were diet or not, so we had to try to work out drinks ourselves. I know it is something small, but if just felt unpleasant.The meal itself was also disappointing. We all (7 of us) ordered the carvery, and the meat given to us was not of the usually quality or quantity from previous toby visits. The way food was being served also didn't appear the most hygienic, with chefs touching faces between serving.When we tried to order desserts, the service again wasn't great. The waitress just said "we don't have that, yeah we don't have that, we don't have that etc." I totally appreciate that these are unprecedented times and things are complicated at the moment, but the overall attitude felt poor.We aren't the type of people to complain and this is the first negative review I've ever left. But if you are covid-19 conscious (as we all should try our best to be I guess) and looking for somewhere to go, I would not recommend here. We spent over £100 for what was a really sad experience. After we left, we all just felt a bit "icky" because the standard of cleanliness was so poor. E.g. the toilets weren't clean, sanitiser was provided at the entrance but seemed to have had water added to it or something. No visors, no masks, no table distancing, no requirement for customers to distance (in the queue, another customer stood on my partner's toe- just to paint a picture of the lack of distancing required!)Sorry Toby Carvery, but we have been here a fair few times but won't be coming back :(

My husband challenged 4 blokes who were spouting racist bile - one of whom threatened to throw him through the window! The manager was called but decided it was my husband was the trouble maker (on his own against 4 men!) - so racism and threats of violence are fine, but common decency calling out racism is obviously not accepted! We have been here several times before for a carvery or breakfast and always treated well. But perhaps you should revise your thinking on the clientele that you find acceptable.

Euro car parks Toby carvery Ainsdale General manager, i have just received my parking charge from euro car parks for parking up and having lunch with my family, Brilliant managerial skills this is, you see when i go for a meal i do not take time out to check for parking signs or check beer mats or even check for the eye in the sky, i go there to eat and i surely will not be going to your carvery again, what a way to loose customers, anyway that is my rant over, i have my receipt and bank statement to prove when i was there and how much the food cost me and my family, so therefore i will not be paying any parking fines take me to court if you wish just a money scamming project to rip the honest public off yet again, goodbye an ex customer.

I felt I had to write this review after experiencing the most disgusting visit to this establishment this morning. My daughter and I popped in for breakfast and we were appalled at the state of the place. There were dirty plates on most tables which made it difficult to find a place to sit. When we went up for food there were no plates available. When the plates did come they were dirty. There were no tea bags available, people were asking for bread to toast as there was a lack of most things in the restaurant. My daughter and I decided to ask for our money back as the thought of eating in such an establishment made us feel ill. We were refunded our money back and told that 'things had gone to pot as they had had a large party in earlier'. Other than the guy behind the bar, there was no sight of any other members of staff. I wouldn't award this restaurant any stars at all. It was the worst experience!

Went there on 21st Feb and decided to have turkey and beef for the meat. I person who served us should have been a surgeon as I have never had turkey so thin before, and the beef was not much thicker. The roast potatos had a tough soft skin with semi cooked inner. The only redeeming part of the visit (which I gave an extra rate) was the staff who seated us, and looked after us. Will I return, most definitely no.

We visited here for lunch having decided we all fancied a carvery and hoped to find something better than the Guilder Rose offers. We have been to the Ormskirk Toby before and always enjoyed the food. We walked in and were immediately faced with a machine to validate our car in the car park. Friendly enough young girl told us to take a seat and she'll come over to take our drink and food order. The carvery looked nice, with four meats being available, although this is really three as the beef found in all these places is always of very poor quality, always badly over cooked and very fatty. Thankfully the Turkey, Gammon and Pork were all lovely as were the massive Yorkshire Puds. A good selection of veg is available together with both standard and beef dripping roasties and also very nice mash. Its a pity that everything is just warm rather than hot but thats something you've got to expect on a carvery when food can be stood for some time. Everything tasted very nice though and good value for money. My only 'complaints' would be that the serving area could have been cleaner, there was food all over the counter, not their fault I know but needs to be kept clean and of course the quality of the 'Beef' We will certainly return to a Toby but perhaps go to the Ormskirk branch next timeShould just say that the rating on Tripadvisor could be improved. On this occasion I would have rated the food as being Good as it was neither Average or Very Good and there is a big difference between those two standards

I work at a local nursing home and we brought them here to have breakfast staff were understanding and it was a good morning for all involved. Staff handled the individual bills well and I was personally happy with the vegetarian sausages.

unlimited breakfast really plentiful and nicley cooked , loads of choice and kids went back for seconds!!!

Came here on Sunday 2 feb with my son and granddaughter, I have dietary restrictions, I was surprised nothing was signed to let you know what ingredients are in them , I was charged £8.95 for five items of veg and they where either cold or overcooked ,my sons wasn’t much better and he had the Carvery, staff are great though but would definitely not recommend or go back myself

Enjoyable lunch, booked a table for 5 adults at 1.00pm Sunday 19th Jan 20. Seated and served drinks straight away, we all had the carvery meal, food excellent, 5 meats to choose from and plenty and good vegetables and potatoes. No complaints from us just complements. 10/10.

Called in for a carvery Sunday evening despite it being very busy we were given a table without any delay . Our order was taken quickly and the drinks arrived promptly. There was a queue but nothing excessive so the wait wasn’t too bad. I opted for the king size meal, if I had served myself I doubt if I would have put more meat on (which makes a pleasant change from most carveries) 2 giant yorkies were adequate ( which coming from a Yorkshireman is high praise) and the potatoes and other vegetables were freshly cooked. All in all a very nice meal and would definitively recommend it and will certainly be going again

Went for a family lunch. We where the 2nd family to arrive. Went to get our Carvery and my 7yr old son noticed an ant crawling over the stuffing. The dish was eventually removed.

Excellent service and food. It made christmas very special. Lovely deco and we booked in advanced so a very smooth service.

This is the 2nd year we’ve come here for Xmas day dinner and def won’t be going again. Last year was great, this year was shocking. Starters arrived, I had soup which was fine. However the bread on the side plate was soaking wet. It was like someone put it under a tap. The mains were ok but nothing special. This is supposed to be 5 meats. When I only want 2 meats I expect to get a little bit more than the smallest slice possible. Xmas is about the meat. Due to me receiving the worst 2 cuts of meat, I thought Sod it I will clearly need the other 3 meats that I have clearly paid for. Firstly I asked for beef, the chef looked at me in disgust and gave me a piece of beef no bigger than 2 inches in length full of fat. I asked for it to be changed. To my horror he picks a piece of beef from another customers plate and puts it on mine. Toby carvery check your cctv. I didn’t get pigs in blankets which I clearly paid for. To make it worse the some of the veg had ran out. We stood 5 mins waiting on parsnips etc. We paid £300 for Xmas day and it was vile. I watched the chefs, they looked like they didn’t want to be there. Now the only good bits, desert was perfect. Very nice. The lady serving our drinks was polite and courteous. The manger I think is Paul, he was polite and courteous also and always is any time we visit Ainsdale Toby carvery. My prob was with the chef that served us and the food We received for our £300. For that reason if your thinking of booking here for an important date, think again! There are much better Toby carveries around.

Booked the dinner in September and the constant contact from Toby Inn was excellent. We had a reminder only 30 minutes before the meal and on arrival we were immediately shown to our table. The menu was exactly as we ordered back in September and the first course was served just after our drinks arrived. We both enjoyed our starters and were then invited to go to the carvery. The chef's were very friendly and full of Christmas cheer. The choice of meats; turkey, beef, pork, gammon and lamb was superb and all perfectly cooked. The choice of vegetables was very good although some of the vegetables could have been a bit hotter. Finally the sweet was very good and, all in all, the whole experience was satisfactory. Maybe next year we will try somewhere a little bit more upmarket. Must not forget the staff, they were all very pleasant, thank you.

Visited for early meal today at 3pm... Went up for our carvery and as I got to the vegetables I noticed a hair in the Sprout dish... I called the chef over and told him but alls he done was remove the hair and wipe it on the back of his Apron and carried on serving... My husband then asked him why he wasnt removing the full sprout dish and his reply was " Its not in the food"....it was clearly hanging over the dish from the outside to the inside of the dish.... the chef was reluctant to remove the dish untill my husband asked him WHY it hadnt been removed.... The chef wasnt happy but took the dish in the back and reappeared with a full dish of sprouts.

We visited here last week and the food was fresh and tasty. There was a good selection of vegetables to accompany the roasts. The staff were friendly and we would definitely return.

Well what to start with about this dump. At first glance, lovely from the outside, unfortunately that impression goes down rappidly due to the incompitance of the chefs. I mean how hard is it to follow your own recipes. Advertised was pate.... No pate. Then after 10 minutes of waiting for this starter bearing in mind my partners soup had already arrived and he had finished it. I was informed that their was no pate and would I like anything else, I did.. I ordered the mushrooms served in a chedder cheese sauce... Well this is remarkable due to the fact that the mushrooms had been deep fried and sent to me in a bowl, I then informed my waiter this was wrong, he took it back to the kitchen and they re sent the same mushrooms back with some warm cream on top, now I was rather irritated by this but my partner insisted that I should just eat them as I had waited 25 minutes in total for them not to even bother to get their own recipes right from what they advertise. We then went for the carvery. We'll on the vegetable they had creamy potatoes. Well the potatoes were still raw. I informed the waiter/manager who promptly took the monstrosity away and informed the kitchen how to cook potatoes. Now for the positives.. The waiter was absolutely fantastic, he applied a 25% discount on the bill, and gave two comp soft drinks for myself and my partner. I have spent 10 plus years in hospitality management and If I could rate this place just on customer service it would definetly of been 5 star however the food was an abomination to the usual standards one would expect of a Toby carvery. Unfortunately we will not be returning due to the dire food experience.

Omg! absolutely appalling! just received parking fine of £85 for having a sunday lunch with my daughter.first visit to ainsdale toby absolutely pouring down with rain couldn't get in there quick enough. Never seen no signs to put in my registration as been told when rang them, Why would i?? never heard of having to do this in any restaurant before. So! a once in a blue moon treat for me and my daughter has turned out to cost over £100 pounds which i dont have as a single parent. Well!!! never again will i ever eat at a Toby carvery AGAIN! phoned the pub but totaly unsympathetic.

Went to Toby in Ainsdale for breakfast had to wait for all food the area looked like it had not been cleaned for months won't be coming back.

My friend and I were quite shocked at the level of rudeness of the staff, my friend needs a small portion to eat and so we asked for a child's meal. The staff member was quite rude in her response and behaved as though my friend was in fact asking for a free meal. I had visited on a prior occasion when 3 of my friends have ordered and been served a child's meal without a problem. I asked the staff member why this had happened before but we were refused today. I asked whether it was okay in the case of certain medical requirements as for some people a large meal is too much.

I’ve just returned home from having a lovely meal at this restaurant. I came online to write a review and was shocked to read the recent negative reviews this restaurant has received. It shows that people tend to only review places when they have a gripe about something, which is why I always make the effort to write a positive review when I have a good experience somewhere.

We called in for dinner 2weeks later. We received a fine for parking in car park the car was parked in right place apparently from previous reviews you have to register when you enter pub might be a good idea to train your staff to mention to your customers as I can only see this pub losing customers as for signs I didn’t see any then again I never expected to be fined in customers car park. Won’t be using again it’s a shame that the staff work hard and Management use a penny pinching scheme which losers customers

Been here many times but never again.

Prebooked a table for 4 for 7pm Sunday evening, but arrived to be told that they had run out of meat. Not a good sign for a Carvery. Felt sorry for the staff who had to deal with the disappointed customers. Fortunately the bill for our drinks and starters was waved , as we were not informed about the lack of main course before we'd ordered .

Came here on the spare of the moment with friends. I hadnt been for a long while after an off putting experience with flies. Credit where credit us due.. It was far better. Attentive staff who where welcoming. The carvery was as expected and enjoyable. Thank you for a nice meal

Visited just after 12pm on a quiet Friday lunch, deck looked ok(turkey was obviously from previous night) but that was soon gone and replaced with a new one, I went to get my food and asked for turkey and gammon, the chef gave me a slice of each,that was it!, I asked him if it was the 160 gm that it should be, he shrugged his shoulders and walked off, the meat I received was 100 gm maximum, when the waitress came round and asked if all was OK I told her about the meat and the lack of it, she said she would speak to the kitchen, no duty manager came to my table to discuss my complaint,awful service and awful food quality

Had a great Carvery meal. We were served by Sharon and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she went out of her way to be helpful. The choice on the Carvery was great and well presented. Highly recommended.

Called with the children before they went back to school because it’s their favourite place to have a roast dinner, we were served by Sharon who was friendly and efficient despite the restaurant being busy. Great variety of meats and veg. Would recommend.

Booked a table for 20:00, arrived and was seated very quickly... first impressions were not great, the place was dark and not very welcoming. Our drink order was taken and we were told to go and get our food, upon walking to the counter the chef quite rudely told me “oh bloody hell I’ve just cleared everything away, you’ll have to wait 15 minutes” so back to the table I went and while waiting I thought I’d check what time food is served to and it was 22:00 so I can’t understand why he was clearing away at 20:00! We eventually went to get our food (it didn’t look too nice!) the server was rude and had a ‘can’t be bothered’ attitude, the food was not great at all, everything was dry and bordering on cold! I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I had head that my local Toby Carvery was now doing take a way. We normally come as a family however my mother in law is unwell at the moment so we were unable to attend. When I told the manager about this on my last list he informed me we could have the same great food but as a take a way. I opted to come in and collect my food personally as this way I was able to check the quality was as good as eating in. I was pleasantly suppressed at the size of the portions Nd the trays we where given to eat our food with. This is a great way to still be able to enjoy a Toby Carvery while not wanting to drag the whole family along. I will definitely choose this option in the future.

We had been in Southport in a busy bank holiday weekend. After having a look around we decided we didn’t want to fight through the crowds for food in the town centre and would head back to Liverpool instead. While driving out of Southport we drove past the Toby Carvery, we often enjoy a meal at our local Toby so decided to give this one a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and fresh and the waitresses all seemed to be enjoying their work. The chef doesn’t time talking to every guest individually which is something that is appreciated by everyone in our party. We came on the bank holiday Sunday so it was very busy but the staff on shift seemed happy enough and the service was quick. I will definitely stop by again if I am ever in the area again. Our carver on the day was from Spain and I said I would give him a mention in my review

Well I was excited to try the Toby heard wonderful things been to nearly every restaurant in my lifetime in Southport but here. Where do I start it’s was a dark dimly light pub with no atmosphere but hey I was here for the food it was 8.15 pm an the food looked a bit worse for wear and was given two small slices of beef matched by two Barbie sized pieces of pork other food veg etc was good but potatoes weren’t at best. Half way through meal gravy and condiments were wisked away so no top ups and staff all sat down and had their meal that’s probably were the gravy went! Over priced dark no atmosphere and food ok. What a disappointment an waste of money ☹️ Where was the manager certainly not managing.

There was a wide choice of breakfast items on the hotplate. The food was hot and fresh all of which were replenished regularly. The service was attentive. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable and with plenty of spacious seating choices. Clearly the management have taken care to attend the needs and expectations of customers and we will certainly look forward to visiting again.

Visited Thursday afternoon with my 2 kids for my birthday and had a really good time, food excellent

Called in late on Sunday afternoon for Sunday 'lunch' and we had a lovely meal. My husband had a carvery, I had a Ploughman's and my 5 year old grandson had chicken nuggets with fresh veg and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were all very pleasant and efficient and the place was lovely and clean.

So much choice of hot fresh food!!! Best place around on a Sunday, staff really pleasant and the place had a nice busy vibe without being too much

Had breakfast at Toby Ainsdale, unlimited, plentiful food selection , bacon sausage eggs beans hash browns gammon hash even yorkie pudding . All left very full and contented!!!

Great parking area with lots of bright signs giving the T&C; of parking. Disabled bays adjacent to main entrance to the pub. Good outside seating area, for smokers & non-smokers (see photo). Could have done with ashtrays as smokers simply had to put dimps on the paving around the tables etc which in turn meant they had to be swept up. The food was excellent, a good selection of veg, generous portions of properly cooked very lean meats, served on nice warm plates. Carvery items were swiftly replenished. Numerous vegetarian options: the mushroom & ale pie was particularly good.Tables were spotlessly clean (and yes you could see a reflection of your face in them!) and had plenty of room for guests to pass by. The serving deck was sparkling too - very impressed. Special mention must be made of Paul and Ali (our greeters, servers & bar staff all rolled into one). Both were friendly, full of smiles, swift & efficient - consummate professionals. Watching the way these guys worked was a real treat. The chefs were very upbeat & enthusiastic too. All in all, a great place to eat and well worth the short walk from the railway station.

I love a good carvery and Toby delivers this every time. Its great fine British food which can't be beaten. The food is of good quality and very tasty. The refill Cokes are a great thing as you can get thirsty and go back for more if you want.

It was a reasonable busy day, but the waiter, who seemed to be on his own, was amazing he seated us, took our order and served us with speed and efficiency. Seeing as he had a lot of things to handle, he did amazingly well and is a credit to your business. The food was great and so were the drinks. Will definitely be back again. Also it was nice and easy typing in my registration plate beforehand as well as the young man explained that one to me. He must get bored saying that to every group but he did it with a smile.

The food was tasty and the staff were good and attentive. Usual problem when restaurant quite quiet- food and gravy look warm. As a company this needs to be looked at because Toby Carvery is not the cheapest these days.

I went in on a Saturday night and a young gentleman served our group. He was very polite and very attentive. They explained the parking system to us which is easier than I thought! All I needed to do was type in my registration and confirm it and I was in all day! That's amazing that it was just that simple. He explained how the carvery work and he also explained any veggie or vegan options as well. I thought for a carvery they attend very well for all ages and all different food types. The food was amazing and they even sell Pigs in Blankets all year around!! I couldn't compliment the server enough for the amazing work they were doing. I will definitely be coming back!

Staff nice and welcoming , smart in appearance and polite . Beers are great . Food is lovely , cooked perfectly . The Pub is clean and tidy , including the toilets . It's a big improvement since we last visited , the staff look happy . The lady working on the restaurant area about 6.30pm on Thursday 4th July was very pleasant and helpful . Well done to the Company , management and staff for the improvements , things much better now .

I arranged for a group to meet hear after we had been out taking photos at Ainsdale beach for a drink, busy chatting on the way in I missed the signs for the ANPR parking scheme and 2 weeks later have had an £85.00 Parking Charge Notice issued.

We visited after staying at pontins again this year. The meal and service was great as always, they have introduced a new parking system since we last visited. The gentleman who greeted us explained this was because a new restaurant had opened over the road an their customers were taking up a large amount of the car park. We entered our reg as instructed and didn’t have any issues.

Lovely atmosphere, not too busy or too quiet food lovely, fresh, hot and plentyfull. Staff very friendly ..good job

We often go to this carvery and have never put our details in to the computer at the reception have never been told what it is for.Parked there on the 27th May and got a parking charge there was no ticket no one tells you or asks you if you have registered your car the staff should automatically ask you if you have registered it.Will not be going here again.

Went so many times. Great breakfast, lunch, dinner or for a quiet drink. Lovely staff and its clean.

Two for Sunday Lunch with a bottle of plonk -nearly £50

Called in on Thursday evening. Food was average but seriously, the meat was overcooked and the portion size is a joke. Sat looking around and all the newel posts and handrails are filthy, not just that days dirt but months of grubbiness! Waitress was nice but everything else dreadful.

OK, its cheap food, so you have to lower your standards and expect what you pay so little for.

I came here last Sunday for a family members birthday lunch and I thought that the carvery was much better than the one in Formby. The food was fresher and there was more choices. The sliced carrots and potatoes in the creamy sauce were delicious. The tables were really well spaced out and it didn’t feel cramped
