Been coming here for years but sadly no more,the place is filthy,the toilets are disgusting and the volume of customers speak volumes,there’s nothing wrong with the food but I’m not eating my lunch in these conditions,such a shame but the whole place needs an overall facelift.

Food was dried and cold their was little gravy and what their was of it was thick and cold carrotsbwas like they had been left cooking in no liquid for a week roast potatoes was rock solid Yorkshire puddings tasted of pure oil my dog wouldn't eat it

Absolutely rubbish the meats we had were dry and over cooked the selection of vegetables was only carrots and peas we enquired about more vegetables and was told to come back to the carvery in ten minutes . The table we were allocated was set but we had to wipe it clean ourselves.When the waitress came to check if everything was ok I said no and she just walked away brilliant service.

Stayed at hotel for 2 nights. Went for cavery first night it was awful and breakfast was no better dirty floor and scrambled eggs and veggie sausages that were un eatable. Would definitely not return unless it underwent a major refit

Just dreadful, One slice of beef which had more fat than anything else and the roast potatoes were appalling. It was a Tuesday and from what I could see and taste the selection of meats were leftovers from Sunday. The roast potatoes I had were almost impossible to cut open, dried out and overcooked so I left them. I'm glad I did. I didn't bother with the vegetables but my companions did and of the four of us one was sick overnight and another had stomach issues. I can cook better than their chef.

I can not praise the staff enough. Kind, caring empathetic and helpful. You won’t find friendlier staff anywhere else. The carvery is great but the breakfast is superb value.

Welcomed in and quickly shown to our table. Drinks order taken which by the time we had got our carvery they were delivered to our table. Food was all freshly cooked and being refilled, and the meat was nice and tender. It was good to see the onion vegetable option back. Enjoyed our meal and appreciated the generous discount offered by e mail.

Terrible food beef fatty the ham cold Yorkshire puddings rock hard. Veg poor. The place is run down and dirty.Not a good experience.Will not return.

Thought I'd bring a friend for lunch ...had a carvery as my last meal here was great, but so disappointed. Where the meat was being served, all the surfaces were covered in A LOT of meat 'bits'/ dried up old meat....should've been cleared down. The meat that was served was all dried out under the heat lights. The veg etc was barely warm and very dried out. It was only 2.15pm when we were there so not late at all. Most serving dishes were left half empty too long, so old dried spilled food all over surfaces, the floor was filthy...dropped food everywhere. Hardly any staff on, but the staff that were working, were very busy. I think more staff needed to be working, more attention paid to the serving areas and certainly better attention to the food that is being served. Such a shame, as other visit was great.

Ordered from just eat , food arrived over cooked and cold , worst meal of my life , should be ashamed sending this food out , ended up in the dogs

Emma gave the best customer service ever. She also made sure we had everything we need. Food and experience was amazing.

Great selection of meats and the buffet is always fresh. Emma (our server) was amazing. Can't fault her. We are regular visitors and it's always consistently good.

Excellent service this evening, our server was called kirstie she was very helpful and attentive always checking on us making sure we had everything we needed, also she had excellent manners. The food was great as always the meats are my favourite.

We enjoyed a lovely Carvery tonight, everything was cooked well and nice and hot, Kirsty was our server and was pleasant and attentive . Andy was the carver and was very pleasant and helpful . Overall an excellent meal and dining experience and we will be visiting again . Many thanks .

The food was ok the Yorkshire puddings were disgusting the staff were rude we had to wait for our table in side for 10 mins could sit with our family there was 8 of us 3 sat separately to the 5 of us

Just been for a Carvery booked a table And took over 1/2hr to get your Carvery no surprise when only 1 person behind the counter. Why not 2. One carving the meat , one serving the veg etc Was charged twice for bottomless soft drink didn’t realise till got home So check your bill before you pay

My friend decided to stay overnight whilst visiting Doncaster so we thought it would be a good place to meet and catch up. The food is disgusting. You could not tell what you were eating from the carvery, it was all kind of a mush on your plate. Service was ok but we were kicked out of restaurant at 8 and told how many minutes we had left. "4".We got another drink and sat outside after our meal but after queing had to finish it quickly as the pub was closing at 9. What an unpleasant and expensive dump.

I came to your restaurant today we was greeted by a lovely lady who took us to our seat and showed us the rules due to social distancing. Sandwich was great, with a side or 3 small roast potatoes. Our server was a middle/ older age lady wearing glasses with blonde short hair she was working in the section near the kitchen around 1:30- 3:00pm didn't get her name she started of her service towards us great, by the end of it she became quiet rude. I am pregnant and due a baby very soon, she asked when I was due and decided to go oh your big are you having two. She probably didn't mean anything by it but to point someone's weight out weather your pregnant or not is not acceptable. Maybe she should have a little think before she speaks out aloud. After experiencing this my visit to eat out left me feeling deflated and feeling hurt by this comment.

Been In here many times for a carvery lunch and tea, but this review is about one of my favourite meals breakfast. After using Airbnb, we stayed not far away for our time at the races, had to be out the room by 10:30 and we had munched on kebab and chips the night before in town.We were quickly shown to a seat and how to go about the buffet, staff and service good, I went and fetched the tea, while she went for food. Morning after you always need your tummy lining, nearly went to Woodfield to try there unlimited breakfast, we stuck with original choice, at the time I knew it had not long been refurbed. Food was plentiful apart form eggs, they just couldn’t keep on top of fried eggs, constantly kept running out, I’m not an egg man myself but our woman is.I know it was towards the end of service, about half an hour or so but there was still people coming down, they must have been staying in the main hotel part.Tea and coffee was plentiful, always refillable, I think used real milk to not that UHT stuff you get in the little cartons.My favourite meal, still would come back again.

I has pre booked our tableFor 5 due to it being a Sunday. The table location in the restaurant was great. Being a vegan I was looking forward to trying something from the new vegan menu as was my partner and the rest of us were having carvery. I ordered a ‘very vegan burger’ and my partner vegetarian toad in the hole....around 10 minutes later we asked how long the vegan/vegetarian meals would be as we all wanted to eat together so we wanted to try and plan for those having carvery to go and get theirs in time for ours arriving we were told that she would come and let us know so that they could go and get their food....I was also told at this point that there was no vegan bread for my burger but she didn’t know if I was at proper vegan’ or if other bread would be ok...I explained that I am a ‘proper vegan’ and therefore had to choose something else...there was no allotment pie available either...my partners toad in the hole was brought out and we were advised that we might want to go get our carvery and that my lasagna was also by the carvery service the queue was pretty long and this left my partner eating alone for a good 10 minutes....On receiving my lasagna it was a very smallPortion for the price and was very ‘well done’ i was able to add some veg from the carvery however I was not given a choice of sides as I would of preferred some salad. My daughter and her boyfriend had dessert and his was literally slammed down on the table very heavily I am unsure as to if this was purposely done however there was no mention of it and the whole table shook...When we come out for a family meal and Spend just short of £80 of our hard earned money I would like to think that we are all able to eat together as a family, I understand it is not always easy to gauge when some are having carvery and some not but when we have asked specifically to be given just a nod that the food will be ready in 10 we would of appreciated for that to have happened. This was a meal for my daughters birthday and we came away pretty disappointed....neither would I recommend my vegan option to others...

Visited for breakfast with a friend. I’m a fairly frequent visitor and pretty much every time they have people waiting for items of food. On this visit it was the worst experience ever. At around 10:15 am lots if items ran out including sausages, eggs, mushrooms, sauces, hash browns. Long waits, sausages never reappeared. Problems with the single toasting machine with lots of people waiting.Very poor service indeed. No apologies no offer of refund. There should have been both!

We went out for a family meal today. At Toby carvery Doncaster. Our whole night was ruined. Disappointment. After a 1st visit some years ago to the carvery back then we was surprised and enjoyed the food. Remembering our experience we decided to dine there today . Bad mistake. Food standards need looking into ASAP. I ended up sending my whole meal back,after very little choice on menu,trying to create something off the meue to eat as i am vegetarian. The rest of my familys meals were so bad too that they had to be returned. I'd think twice before going there to eat. After all that. We was offered dessert. OMG i was now feeling ill ready to be sick. As they were worse than the meal. The custard smelt like ofal and when the staff was asked to smell it they refused in embarrassment.

Decent Carvery, we had to wait for our table almost 30mins after our booked time. The bar area was full and so we struggled to find seats. Once seated at our table we were served promptly. There was quite a wait for the gravy which was slightly annoying, there were grumbles in the queue about the amount of meat being served but overall decent food and decent value for money.

We use Toby quite a bit for our breakfast and decided to try this one. Big mistake, worst I have had . Everything was over cooked and dried up , there was no eggs and waited 15 minutes for some to be cooked. The food was really poor but this is our first one on the Toby chain I have not been happy with, 10 minutes up the road to Edenthorpe and always good quality .

A good atmosphere, friendly staff that looked like they enjoyed their work, customer service was definitely a high priority for the management and their choice of young staff worked very well and are focused on their work moral. The menu is very affordable and also gives a good choice for those who are vegetarians.

Me and my family go here quite often for the carvery. It is very tasty and the food always tastes fresh. I also love the fact they offer turkey! They now have mac n cheese as a side too, which doesn't really go with a roast dinner but it is really yummy. We also go for the unlimited breakfast occasionally, the food is really good quality and a good choice. I like that you can fill your plate as many times as you want.

Although rammed full on a Sunday lunchtime they managed to find us a table, food excellent, massive portions for a Toby and really attentive staff. Absolutely first rate.

Stopped in for a quick roast, the place was busy but Staff were very attentive especially Charlotte excellent service from this lady and a beautiful roast as well.

10/10 service. Your colleague Kieran made us feel very welcome and spoke with a pleasant manner. My grandma loves coming to visit Toby Carvery and it was my treat to take her out for dinner. We loved it thank you Toby staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I went too the Toby carvery at Bassacar last night and can say one thing wow, what a fantastic meal we had.This is not the first time we have come too this Toby Carvery and will not be the last.

We came in for a carvery today and had excellent service. We got served straight away for food and drinks. We were told by management as soon as we walked in that a couple of the meats had run out so we had the option of leaving if we wanted but there was still plenty of food and choice available. We also witnessed another couple of groups complaining about the meat situation despite them being told on their entrance like we were. The manager dealt with the situation very well and was so professional. Definitely seemed like people wanting a discount or freebies especially one couple who complained after eating! Excellent service well done!!!! See you soon! Delicious food everyone very polite!

Went to the carvery two days in a row. It is immense, really good value and the food was good. The staff were nice, plenty of parking and the carvery was refreshed regularly.

We have been going to the Toby Carvery at Bessecar for many years, this is the worst meal we have had here. I have found that the last couple of visits weren't as good as they normally were. Today we decided it would be our last time, the meal we had today is a great advert for Woodfield Farm.

Decided to try the takeaway menu and ordered a vegetarian Carvery , roast beef in ciabatta with side serving of Yorkshire pudding & gravy. One dessert of spotted dick and custard.

I wouldn't normally visit a Toby carvery in a Sunday as I dislike paying more for the same food as I could get any other day but after a week away I really wanted a carvery.

Always seems to be the same with this pub, they try and cram as many people around a tiny table as they can so they can fit more people in but it leaves you struggling to eat your dinner. The floor below our table was covered in food which made this more unpleasant. As for the carvery, servings of meat were tiny compared to usual and the veg/potatoes etc were hard and seemed stale like they had been sat out all day. Wouldn’t advise anyone to bother with this restaurant, you’re better off spending a little extra and going somewhere nicer.

My husband and I visited last night at 6.45pm. We arrived separately so I ordered drinks. When my husband arrived drinks had still not come to the table. We went and got our carvery, nearly everything was dried up. There was no gravy so had to wait until I asked for some to be brought out, food going cold. Got back to the table to realise there were no knives on the table and had to go and find some as no staff around to ask. Surely the 'greeter' who took us to the table should be checking if the table is set up properly? All in all not very good and probably wont return. Deleted the app.

Stopped here for breakfast whilst heading north, Monday morning and not busy at all. Breakfast ok but had been sitting around under the hotplate for a while. Only one other family in so understand why. Wouldn't return again during the week.

Absolutely vile service and even worse breakfast ... no interest whatsoever in the customer.... arrived at 10.20 (breakfast finishes at 11) was expected to eat food that’s been stood for goodness knows how long ... tried to express my views ... not interested as they had already taken my money ... surrounding tables were also filthy

Worst Toby ever visited, wasn’t a busy day and it was about 16.00, you could tell everything had been out a while and wasn’t fresh. Roasties were like rubber and the rest of the veg wasn’t up to scratch, puddings were hard and just crumbled to pieces. Meat wise the pork was actually very lean and nice, didn’t have the beef as it was very fatty, the piece of turkey I had had a big bloody vein in it which was horrible, love a Toby but won’t ever go to that one again

A very tasty carvery, always good. Never had a bad meal in there. There only meals on offer. Easy to get to by public transport and not expensive.

Had a nice table for dinner. Waitress was polite and helpful, but our drinks didn’t arrive until we were already eating. Coffee afterwards was lovely and the whole meal was very reasonably priced.

Visited this morning for breakfast, paid for 2 adults and 2 children to have breakfast hut we shouldn't have bothered. Unless you are staying in the hotel you can only have a cooked breakfast, but they don't tell you this when you pay!!! My little girl was then very upset when she was told she couldn't have cereal and fruit, which lets face it is far cheaper to them than the cost of cooked food!! Consequently we paid about £2.50 for her to have a slice of toast and a glass of water. The breakfast itself was not the best, eggs rock hard, scrambled eggs tasted funny according to my son. The bacon was hard and scraggly little bits and sausages and mushrooms were burnt. I'm always a bit disappointed with the carvery too, the meat is usually ok but the veg and potatoes are not the best. They don't do normal mash just their 'special mash' which quite frankly looks and tastes vile. Needless to say we won't be returning any time soon.

Called in for a carvery,the food was cold and the ‘meat’ was fatty, chewy and disgusting. The meal was minging and can only be described as slop! Ordered garlic ciabatta which was toasted on one side with cheese and other side was wet and soggy. Do not eat here save your money and go somewhere else! Horrendous.

Treat for the family get together, brilliant service and food, especially getting the staff to present the birthday cake (70th on 24th !) First class establishment

A typical Toby carvery, no different to any others really, staff were friendly and helpful were possible, new look to the restaurant but still food hasn’t moved on massively, I tried the Yorkshire pudding wrap which was ok but no different to getting a carvery and eating same combination of food.

Our party of came here last Wednesday 10th April, food was ok nothing great potatoes were dry and veg wasn’t great. Not good when 2 of us had a meat free carvery. But it was busy so we gave it the benefit of the doubt as normally the good is pretty good really. Our waitress Hannah, was very good though, really friendly and helpful.

Visited on the 10/04/2019 , a young man called Kieran was our server. A very polite young man. He couldn’t help us enough. Food was plentiful and delicious.

We booked a table for four people for 7.30 on Wednesday 3rd April. Myself and my husband arrived at 7.00 and got a drink at the bar while we waited for my son and his girlfriend. At 7.15 my husbands phone rang and it was the toby carvery to inform us that there wasn't any point coming for our dinner as there wasn't any meat left. How can a carvery run out of meat, what a joke. When my son arrived we finished our drink and left hungry.

Food was poor sausages and bacon sat too long and tasted inedible scrambled eggs were watery.

What a great experience the new manager made me and my son feel so welcome. My 3 year old son loves carrots and the new manager made a fuss of him from star to finish. My son hasn't stopped speaking about the Toby man he cant wait to go back!!

My sister and I visited the Toby on Thursday lunchtime and were shown to our table straight away and our order taken by friendly, efficient staff. The turkey was tender and moist, but we could have had gammon, beef AND pork as well The yorkshires looked great but I just had to fill my plate with the wonderful selection of veg - which is unlimited. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing.

Complained about the poor state of the food ,it was really bad ,didn’t pay for one meal .But it was so off putting contacted higher management.

I have already put a review on in October about Toby carvery Punches having only a small amount of gammon left at around 7pm.Reading other reviews this seems a problem that occurs often so why is the problem not sorted out by management,Also the reply I got here was pathetic ,no apology or reference to them not letting this happen in the future,Also made a complaint twice to the actual restaurant on their website and they didn’t even reply to this,Will not be returning

I visited this establishment earlier today after maybe 3 years and on the whole the food was satisfactory.

Friendly helpful staff we stayed at the innkeepers lodge which is the same building. Clean and well maintained. Breakfast is great value for money.

Sunday evening the place was packed, told wait for table would be 35mins (should have booked ahead). When I was given a table had no problems, good food (including lamb as it was a Sunday), waitress was very good and attentive.

Whilst visiting the area noticed now a Toby Carvery,so deceided to try,wish we had never bothered.This might be a long review as I need to be sure other people who like good food and service avoid this venue.

The food was fine, pretty much what you would expect from a carvery. However we felt the service was quite poor. Waited almost 15 minutes for our glasses after ordering refillable soft drinks and also waited a long time for the bill which then came wrong and needed to be corrected. Some members of staff seemed very busy and were picking up the slack for others who were having long chats with regular customers rather than waiting on tables. The low point was when a waitress admitted that the salmon was dry because she had left it on the pass for 15 minutes while she chatted with a customer! Not sure we’d return.

Never seen so many people try to order a carvery to be told there is not enough meat?? Had to laugh when the bloke serving us asked what meat we wanted ? err there was only gammon and not much left at all luckily we got a couple of chipolata sausages yay, also the roast potatoes had seen better days , very disappointed.

Met a few friends at 18.30hrs for drinks and a carvery.Whilst having our drinks word was spreading around that meat for the carvery was running out,When someone from our group asked, was told if we went quickly there was a small amount of pork and gammon left,the other meats having all ran out and they had none to replace,We went in around 19.30hrs and by the time we had qued up the pork had run out and there was only a small amount of a gammon joint left.The veg and Yorkshire puddings were tasteless, the roast potatoes were hard and black

Opted to try Saturday night whilst staying at the Inn Keepers Lodge next door. Wasn't expecting too much but pleasantly surprised. All staff cheery and welcoming. Food was plentiful and well prepared. Meats just right and the veg not over cooked. Reasonable priced wine led to an enjoyable experience. Would use again when in the area..

Visited three times in space of 2 weeks in September. First time just with my husband for a lovely quiet meal around 5pm on a Saturday. Great value Groupon voucher used & the carvery was gorgeous! Plenty of meat & veg cooked to perfection .

Had an evening meal here, staff were friendly but disorganised. Food as expected, no proper coffee at breakfast though which was disappointing.

On the whole a better visit. Food was good. Howevery. ..refill coffee bit of a joke. No filter coffee..for the whole of the visit. And apparently after 10.50 am you can't have a drink. According to the lady breakfast is done. ....food was still out though. Very friendly...not

Came here for my nephews birthday meal. Firstly expected a bit more on the menu to choose from. Family members decided to go for carvery where i wanted to 'fresh floured bap' with a meat of my choice i chose beef. Although when my family were getting the carvery the man said the beef meat is fatty do you mind?! When my bap came it was hard on the outside and soggy in the middle full of fatty beef and the breadcake had obviously been defrosted, it came along side a freezing cold yorkshire pudding. My dad had the yorkshire pudding wrap again it had all fatty meat inside. When we complained to the waitress she didnt even apologise just had a smirk on her face told us we needed to wait for it to be taken off the bill. Anyway we wont be going back here. Also the windows where we sat were all black and thick with dirt.

Me and my friends went to Toby carvery tonight for a nice meal. The food was lovely as usual, but the customer service lacked enthusiasm. The waitress who we had was rather miserable and as a group of under 16’s, we were kind enough to leave a tip to perhaps “brighten her day” even though we thought she didn’t deserve it. Upon leaving the restaurant, my friend informed me of a comment that was made by the waitress which was offensive and rather rude which went along the lines of “them 6 have had me running round for them all night and they leave me pennies.” To say we were shocked was an understatement. I love the food in Toby Carvery, but it would be ten times better if the customer service was equivalent to the meal.

Visited Yorkshire wildlife park and called in at Toby afterwards, even though it was a Sunday we only had to wait 15 mins, food was piping hot and plenty of meat and vegetable options, all in all a lovely meal, wud recommend

I haven’t been to this Toby for a while as I’d rather drive further and go to the better one in Edenthorpe. I had a friend visiting and decided we would try this Toby seen as it was refurbed only a few months ago. They recruited a new team so I was surprised when I walked through the door to all the old staff still working there. As we walked past the host station we talked about get drinks before we went through to the carvery. We waited at the bar for around 10 minutes. They seemed to be looking for a receipt in the till which took 3 people and not one of them acknowledged us to let us know they wouldn’t be long... I walked away to the host station as I thought we would be able to get drinks once we sat down but to my surprise we were greeted by a moody host who said that they were full, we would be waiting 20-25 minutes and she couldn’t guarantee there would be any meats left. This was only at 18:50...

Great Carvery good food great service and not over priced would recommend for a lunchtime meal there is plenty of car parking space

Great local venue to meet family and friends, get a few nibbles in the bar area or have a roast dinner. Prices very reasonable and since being redecorated nicer areas to sit and relax. Gets busy at usual times but we know when to avoid so never have any issues.

Lunch time on a Saturday. Good choice of carvery meats, very wide choice of vegetables some more unexpected than others for example never seen spinach on a carvery before. Very nice.Very good service and the value was excellent. I know it is slightly more expensive on a Sunday but that is to be expected. House red wine was fine and the pint of cider my husband had was his favourite, he said he rarely finds it when he goes out. Will go back again.

First visit after the refurb and whilst they haven't gone overboard it has freshened the place up as it was tatty before.

As I watched my baby eat his Ella's puree I was amazed to find I wished I too was eating what he was having. Because his baby food had what mine didn't; flavour. Nevertheless my boyfriend belongs to the cult of people who love Toby Carvery and because I love him I tried my best to enjoy. I asked him if he liked it because it was a nostalgic memory of school dinners. He said it wasn't but did concede it was the worse carvery he'd ever had.

Had a fantastic carvery and puddings for my mums birthday. I reserved on line and got a call to ask for mums name. When we arrived there were balloons on the table and a card for Mum, which had been signed by all of the staff. Our waiter Luke was great really nice, friendly and welcoming. As was Emma and Wade who seated us and brought drinks. They made it extra special. The food was lovely, hot, and plenty of choice. The ice cream is the best ever!!!

Went for a carvery and found that it was value for money. Pre booked via the website, which is recommended, table was ready straight away. The food was very tasty, staff were efficient overall great place.

I come here quite often for breakfast. It is very good value for money and you can refill your hot drink (cost extra) as often as you want to. There's a good variety of choice (but no black pudding for some reason) Always prepared to make fresh fried eggs if needed. Staff are always polite and friendly but thin on the ground as its early morning when I get there.

Went with friends for tea. What a disappointment the meat was. Lots of fat and gristle on the beef, lots of fat on the pork and loads of fat on the gammon. The only edible meat was the turkey, which looked dry !! The veg was ok but not spectacular. I heard a few people comment about the lack of quality so come on Toby Carvery, SORT IT OUT before your regulars don’t return and find somewhere else to eat.

Just visited here yesterday. The young lad that was carving saw that the veg was looking dry and terrible before he served me and my wife. Unfortunatley we didn’t get his name, he had a strong yorkshire accent. He asked us polietly to if we wanted to back down whilst he got it changed. We was really happy that we waited for the veg to be refreshed. I had just the turkey and it was nice and juicey despite it been quiet. My wife had the turkey and beef. The young carver explained that the beef was slightly fatty but it was full of flavour. She said that it was fine and that she was happy to have it. The meat portion size was more than enough for our appitite. Everything was really lovely and enjoyed our meals. Would definitley return
