5/5 Stars – A Pint-Sized Paradise at the Toby Carvery Forget Michelin stars — sometimes perfection is two pints of Madri and a shared packet of Walkers crisps at your local Toby Carvery. We arrived with modest expectations and left with hearts a little lighter and bellies a little fizzier. The Madri was crisp, cold, and golden — just the right balance of smooth and satisfying. We toasted to absolutely nothing in particular, which somehow made it feel even better. The Walkers crisps (classic salted, obviously — we’re purists) were the perfect salty sidekick: crunchy, comforting, and conveniently sharable. Was it fancy? No. Was it needed? Absolutely. They even checked we didn't want another drink after last orders had just been called, how sweet is that? 10/10 would snack, sip, and giggle again.

I need to say a massive thank you to the Manager (Andy, I think). My daughter suffers from panic attacks and we were sat in a busy area. Andy was extremely empathetic and found us a table in a quiet area. He then came up to the carvery with me and plated all of my daughters dinner. Andy's actions meant that we didn't have to leave (as my daughter wanted to) and helped my daughter out of her attack. Thank you again to Andy and team for going above and beyond with their Customer Service. P.S. This is the best Toby I have been to. Food cooked perfectly, hot and extremely tasty!

From booking to seated it's perfect, to top it off great choices of food all piping hot. Attentive staff complete a perfect meal out

We went here on Boxing day (26th Dec 2024) and had a fantastic festive set menu, including a starter and a main course. We were given wonderful service by Zara (The Manageress) who was so giving and attentive to our needs, on such a busy day. We will certainly be back next Boxing Day, if not before.

A traditional carvery. I never leave hungry. I tend to visit when I have an offer as it is now £10.49 for a carvery main meal. Doom Bar is the only ale.

This is one of the best Toby's I have visited and I have been to a few. The meat was exceptional expecially Beef and Pork. Great atmosphere..

First time me coming to this one as I go do the other one in Worthing and you support my family with 3 birthdays and 15 people The food was lovely but the space to line up around people eating is not nice as it’s like People watching you eat when you just want a lovey meal

went on saturday and the food was absolutely awful, the food was dry and bland and the lack of vegetarian options was absolutely appauling, bacon had been put in food that was usually vegetarian (yorkshire puddings, potato and onion) leading to the only food vegetarians were able to eat being beans, pancakes, the worlds dryest hashbrowns and fried egg. A complete disappointment especially compared to the lyons farm toby carvery which is only a 15 minute drive away which had lovely food and actual vegtarian options.

Tracy was polite and friendly, told us all about the options and was very professional a credit to your company!

Great Carvery I have recently been diagnosed as Gluten Intolerant and the staff could not be more helpful. The GM got the allergies sheets out and explained what I could not have anymore. Not a lot contains gluten so a great place to have a good meal. I was told that the following contains Gluten Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, the normal gravy ( but not the vegan onion gravy), sausages. The bread, pancakes etc for breakfast. Otherwise all good.

Great service, good range fo hot food and good vegan and vegetarian options. Thank you for accommodating our autistic daughter's needs so well.

Sadly the pub & it's eye for detail has gone rapidly downhill. The chef was lack lustre with sloppy serving skills. Meat literally thrown on plate. The service areas were not kept fresh & very messy. The meal was luke warm. We didn't stay for dessert as the whole area felt sticky & unclean. Service to clear plates & settle bill was incredibly slow until we moved to leave !!! The toilets were very unclean with unloved paintwork with greasy dirty handmarks. I used to love this place but sadly we won't return. Check out my honest photos.

The best roast I've ever had in a Toby carvery ever!

It was very busy so we were directed to the bar area. All 3 of us are quite disabled. Liz was great and explained the savings to be had on the 2 course offer. She was very kind, good humoured and extremely helpful. She turned an enjoyable lunch into a real treat! Steve, our chef today was great fun, a true gentleman. He offered all of us some assistance, though I managed ok. My friends both had a full carvery whilst I had just the vegetables. I enjoyed a huge plateful, and everything was cooked how I like it best. Smooth and creamy mash, sweet peas that pooed in my mouth, sweetcorn, carrots with that little 'bite' and roast parsnips. OMG!! So soft and creamy in the middle, cooked right through, but with crispy bits on the edges. Faultless. He made sure my pals got their plates to the table, in the bar, and was jolly and friendly throughout. Once lunch was over, we ordered dessert. My pals had ice cream, one with lemon and the other with chocolate sauce. While I had a vegan ice cream, which I was seriously impressed with. I asked Steve where I could could get decent vegan ice cream from, and he went and found me a source. I shall be off to Waitrose tomorrow! Later, as he was about to leave I had a spot of bother, I passed out, a not uncommon event, my friend explained it was ok and Steve stopped his exit, came to check on me and got me a glass of cold water. He only left for home once he knew I was ok. The young chap who relieved Liz at the bar, Miles, was also lovely. Altogether, a pleasant time turned into a remarkably wonderful event by a fun, caring, and hardworking team. Thank you, guys 😊

All very friendly as usual, Liz behind the bar is a beautiful person with a cracking sense of humour. I give service a 4 because front of house when we arrived she was on her phone texting and we felt like we were interrupting her day, wasn't the best but Liz more than made up for it. Came for some dinner with friends when on arrival we were greeted and seated straight away which was great, when approached by our server Zara she seemed to have an attitude and looked like she didn’t want to be there, in addition to this we were not asked about allergies which was concerning. When we went to get our food the carver Adam seemed nice, friendly and when asked if he could get more crackling he got it straight away. When we got to the gravy section we had realized that there was no sign for the vegetarian option, this was a problem as one of the people I was with had an allergy. I had asked if there was any coming out to which one of the other carvers replied they’re getting it ready, we had waited around 15-20 minutes before I got up and realized it still wasn’t out, I then asked a lovely waitress named Tracey who assured me it would be a couple of minutes, after I sat down again she then went out of her way and found us to tell us it was out which was great :)

Had a very nice dinner with parents at Toby Carvery, it was absolutely packed so I’m glad we pre-booked I went King Size, after the week I’ve had I needed a treat (and today especially I was very hungry) Yorkshire pudding, gammon, turkey, 2x sausages, stuffing, carrots, beef dripping roast potatoes, peas, runner beans The stuffing was unfortunatly nearly all gone, just a few scrapt and the tougher top layer. There wasn’t any sweetcorn which they’ve had a couple of previous times, which was a bit of a disappointment as I do enjoy sweetcorn (and they had some macaroni cheese, that is just the weirdest thing I can think of to have with a roast dinner?) What I had was all very tasty! I was originally only going to have turkey, but they brought out a new gammon before I got served and it looked really good (and tasted really good too!) Washed down with a pint of Stowford Press cider, lovely Of course I had to have my all-time favourite dessert, sticky toffee pudding (I swear Toby Carvery do the best I’ve ever tasted) Delicious!!

Been to this Toby a few times but this visit was the best. The meat was succulent and the potatoes and vegetables were lovely and hot. Great choice too and happy to see swede available. Please offer small Yorkshire. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

Our server Tracy was what made this dining experience five stars - she was attentive, personable, witty, and patient with all our requests despite the restaurant being busy. Hopefully her people skills and hard work are recognised!

Great food and excellent service from our waitress Tracey.

The service was amazing however the food did let me down due to it being cold/luke warm, gravy was lumpy and the stuffing and mash was stale from being out to long. Over all was good though.

We ordered drinks but they took over 30 minutes to arrive. Some of our group ordered the roast which wasn’t too bad but the potatoes were overdone. 3 of us ordered a sandwich. These took ages to come out, 2 arrived first and then the 3rd they said the lettuce was limp so could we have potatoes instead. Waited again, potatoes were burnt. Sandwich was horrible. Very disappointed.

We were served by Grace, who was incredibly polite and patient, despite it being busy. Food was good but did see potatoes being put on top of older potatoes which was slightly offputting.

Liz is my favourite. Courteous, friendly, always looking up to acknowledge guests - funny and efficient. Others could learn from her.

Lovely food and great service but crammed in like sardines, Me and my partner struggled to talk due to how loud and close everyone was.

Food was barely lukewarm when it arrived even though we are less than a mile away. Yorkshire pudding even though they looked nice tasted like the oil had burnt before they were cooked so had a burnt oil taste. Cauliflower was barely cooked and was really hard. Roast potatoes weren’t crispy they were very soggy and burnt black. Only saving grace was the turkey was nice and tasty gravy, won’t be using them again as was not worth the money paid. Put most of it out for the fox.

Stopped in for a meal in the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with how much meat was served. Emma was a lovely waitress, very succinct in taking our order. I did find the Mac and cheese to be very bland though.

I recently visited Toby Carvery and had the absolute pleasure of being served by Tracy. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a warm, genuine smile and made us feel incredibly welcome. The waitress, Emma, was very polite and helpful x . But the Yorkshire just crumbled into powder and the hostess rolled her eyes at an old couple who wanted help, which I thought was rude

Went for lunch, first time in a Toby so unsure what to expect. Our server was lovely, very friendly and helpful. House red was good, brother enjoyed his Guinness and the others had unlimited soft drinks. Not much left of the meat although there was a fresh joint of beef, so we all had that. The vegetables were plentiful with lots of choice, although I have to say none of it was hot, warm is more accurate, so that was disappointing. I booked a table asking for room to have a pram and they obliged with perfectly situated seating. At no point were we rushed, our server checked everything was okay, if we wanted more drinks, etc. For a very reasonably priced lunch you really can't do any better, especially as the potatoes and vegetables are unlimited if you want to go back for more. We didn't.

Great food, good friendly service, and excellent atmosphere

Went for breakfast. Apparently unlimited. When we paid, I wasn't reminded of what time breakfast service closes. Perhaps I should have asked. So got some oily fried eggs, dry bacon and very liquid baked beans, as well as a nice potato cheese bake. There were also hash browns and black pudding as well as a large Yorkshire pudding or puddings. Looks like the Yorkshire's were baked together, but then had to be surgically separated with a set of tiny teaspoons. Unless they exploded in the oven to give this really other-worldly appearance. We turned some bread into toast in that slow travellator machine, but I'm always intrigued why there is a setting for burning the toast. And why, on this day, despite the protective cover, that the burn setting was chosen. I have yet to meet someone that intentionally toasts a slice of bread until it is black, and I'm 60 years old! And yet here we were - dark black toast produced. In the absence of staff, we simply sat down with our offerings, but had there been some staff bobbing between tables, we would have spoken up. Meanwhile , on the other side of the display, we were fortunate to get a coffee from the full pot. Many of the tables were full of discarded breakfast remains from previous diners, so staff were somewhat slow to collect these. So finally, after some eating and chatting, I noticed it was 11.10 and decided on another coffee with an accompanying slice of toast with marmalade; but to my surprise, the coffee pot and toast machines had gone. Meanwhile, turned around to see the first carvery roasts of the day, that made it to the serving area. Where I guess they sit under the lights to dry out until lunch starts at 12. I rarely if ever, visit a Toby carvery for breakfast because we don't have one near where I live, and only did so today because Octopus Energy gave me a voucher. So it's a pity that serving times weren't mentioned at the till point, or that staff didn't sweep round with a verbal reminder, while collecting dishes from the nearby tables. Although I got one free breakfast for my party, via the exorbitant cost of my Octopus gas and electricity supply, I did expect to be able to get one more coffee under the Toby Unlimited Coffee scheme, but that was an unfulfilled dream. Next month, I will try breakfast again; otherwise the carvery in the afternoon.

Great choice of meats and vegetables. The honeycomb ice cream dessert was extremely good too. We had Tracy as our server and she was very quick and efficient, service with a smile.

Me and my mum come here quite often and more time than not we are served by Esme who is simply exemplary. Nothing is ever too much and always has such a cheery disposition. A really asset to the team.

Typical of the brand. We had a party of 20 so were given an area just for us. Their breakfast menu was good and a reasonable price. Staff were excellent.

Three of us went for a birthday meal, carvery followed by pudding. Always have a tasty and filling meal in a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Thanks Goring carvery staff.

The food was amazing, the meat was tender and the roast potatoes were very Crispy. Both me and my partner have allergies and the lady who came over to help us Joan was beyond helpful checked everything we could and couldn't have especially as my allergy is rear but she made sure it was all safe and knew what we could and couldn't have
