Had a pleasant experience! So much better than it used to be! Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Food was hot which used to be a big issue. I haven't been to a carvery in years and after going there I would definitely go again! Accommodated my disabled brother and our kids top notch service. Will recommend to others! Great experience

The food was rather tasteless and the gravy was watery. The Yorkshire pudding was rubbery. We usually eat there once a week but will be looking for other options now as it was not nice food

Excellent staff friendly and efficient the food was tasty. I’m gluten free and often staff make me feel a nuisance I therefore felt I had to tell you how much I appreciated Tom the carvery chef he checked to see if I could have the roast potatoes which gravy I could have and offered ordinary cauliflower as I could not have the cauliflower cheese. Friendly family atmosphere, good food at reasonable prices.

We were booked for 1430. I think this is the second run with the first being 12 as we had to wait 10 mins or so for fresh meats to come out and they basically put all fresh out veg. It was well worth the wait , the beef and lamb were so succulent. Spuds lovely not the recooked ones you get. Couldn’t fault it, the best of a Toby carvery. Bought the free refill drinks as well so fully fed and watered for £15.

Enjoyed special offer carvery. Very busy and car parks completely full at midday on a Friday

Popped in for an impromptu lunch with my husband and mother in law. Didn’t have to wait too long to be sat and our order taken. Fantastic carvery, really tasty and good portions. Sophie, who served our table, was courteous and helpful and made our visit better still. Highly recommend

Place was full of young(ish) men, lots of very loud shouting and swearing. No staff or management bothered to ask them to "keep it down". It was like breakfast in a canteen full of...

Lovely carvery well worth a visit. Down load the app and we got 25%off the bill. Visited again Fri 10th Jan. Even better food and staff were fantastic and we got 50% of main meals. Bargain.

The Carvery was great, everything kept topped up so you didn't miss out on any veg, serving staff polite, table waitress lovely. Area for improvement would be not to let too many people queue for Carvery at once. It was so busy, people were queuing all around the restaurant so you were eating (once you could get past the crowds to your table) with people stood around you which wasn't very pleasant. I'm sure, years ago, you used to wait at your table until the waitress told you you could go up, that way the queue never got to long and didn't encroach on people eating. We did go when it was 50% off mains so it was particularly busy.

My friend brought me here years ago, so when I revisited Worthing last December we went there again. I enjoyed the food as I wanted to re-experience a typical english meal.

A traditional carvery. I never leave hungry. I tend to visit when I have an offer as it is now £10.49 for a carvery main meal.

Newly refurbished. Feels clean and brighter. Very busy on Sundays. The best Yorkshire puds and roasties.

all the meats and the veg are very good and the value is first class, and could not be beaten. Improve?? it would be great if the roast potatoes could be fresher from the oven, but i guess it is not possible

It’s not about the food or atmosphere tho it’s more about how you treat costumers regardless of their backgrounds: the guy in the glasses is terrible in the costumer service and is really bad just to say nice basic comment for costumers, rude and unprofessional, I was lucky today served by girl named Jasmine, at least she made my day laughing, the food is good it’s just the guy is being a problem.

Great food at good price The food and service were up to the usual standard apart from the beef which turned out to by very fatty and my daughter ended up leaving most of it.

First time ever in a Toby. Manager showed us to our seat, he was brilliant. When we went to get our food I knocked a lid off the cauliflower cheese, because the dish at the front was empty and was berated by the chef in front of everyone. It was an accident and it's not clear your suppose to ask, especially when I have not been in a Toby before. The chef purposefully tried to embarrass me in front of people when it was an accident. I won't be back. I was going to speak to the manager about it but he was dealing with the other chef and a waitress at the host point. Your chef can't act that way, I am an adult and a guest in your establishment, contrary to what your chef thinks I have a brain inside my head and it was not done on purpose. I've a good mind to contact M&B directly. The incident completely overshadowed the great welcome at the begining.

Good place for breakfast and a roast.

Usual Toby atmosphere with easy booking online for tables in advance. Food, whilst piping hot, with generous portions can, sadly, be a bit hit and miss for freshness depending on time of day going there and how long it has been sat under the heat lamps drying it out, but the staff are usually OK about swapping the dishes over if they see it's dried out somewhat. Recommended as a good eat in restaurant

From a previous one star review, I also had a hair cooked into fried chicken bites in my side. Couldn’t really eat it after that unfortunately. It was short hair. Im not sure if it was an eyelash or eyebrow hair. Good service

Service and friendliness of staff was good. Quality of food was extremely variable peas and carrots were particularly poor and obviously don't keep well under heat lights. Roast potatoes were not crisp and Yorkshire puddings hadn't risen. My Salmon en croute/wellington/pasty was was heavy on pastry and light on Salmon and my wife's vegetarian option was small and uninspiring. Disappointed in my rhubarb and apple sponge pudding which was plain sponge with plasticky sauce over it, no real fruit in it. sorry to say that though everything was edible it was the poorest quality meal I have had for may years. Only chose Toby Carvery because it is family friendly and we had our 5 year old grandson with us will not be returning ever.

Booked a table in advance and still had to sit and wait half an hour to be seated. Food was very bland, mash was lumpy and looked more porridge, hardly no vegetables out. And what was there was sitting in water. No signs on the gravy so didn't know which one was vegan. Staff didn't know either. Table was sticky and chair was wobbly.

Perfect roast. Great value. Lovely staff. I would like to suggest the cauliflower cheese needs to be upgraded.

Really good service from Morgan who checked us in, took us to our table for breakfast and explained everything really well :) lots of choice on the breakfast buffet and the food was replenished quickly. Really really well priced for the amount of food you can eat. Would definitely return

It's a Toby Carvery, what can I say, lol. But the staff are way improved here now. Really great and professional to be honest. They didn't used to be. We arrived at a good time with piping got veg and fresh potatoes, so all was good. The veggie sausages were tasty and the veggie gravy was good as usual. To be honest, they looked full, so I'm always amazed how they pull it off. But our party of 10 I think, all left with full tummies and will return again

Food always good & staff very nice & helpful. 15/3/24 - Lovely lunch again today, & big shout out to the chef who always works so hard. 13/12/24 Lunch was delicious & staff were very nice, attentive & happy. Value for money is great food is fresh and very tasty the potatoes are amazing and the meat selection is great we travel from Brighton to come here as we have never had a bad meal here

This Toby is much better than Downlands. The service is quicker. Food is quick and more of it. Many thanks to Andy on bank holiday Monday for helping out with my daughters food. It was my birthday and she wouldnt have had anything to eat if he hadnt stepped in. Recommend this Toby to everyone.

AMAZING!!! Food was fabulous, unfortunately we couldn’t sit within the restaurant area however had seats in the bar area which were just as good! Huge selection of food and drink, deserts and other side plates. Definitely recommend

We are regulars eating here at The Toby at Goring Road. Always a lovely experience, but today was icing on the cake as most of staff were dressed in Xmas outfits, even the chef Steve had a 'turkey hat' on, brilliant atmosphere. Never disappointed by the quality of the food, service, atmosphere etc. Steve was carving on the evening I came in and he made my whole family and I feel so welcome and he brought an amazing friendly atmosphere to the evening. We have been to the Toby Carvery in Goring for years but this visit was extremely disappointing and one of the worst visits we have ever had. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the front of the house hostess, who had such a nonchalant attitude, it was hard to feel welcome. She took forever finding our booking, staring vacantly at her screen and then proceeded to quickly show us to our table and left back in a hurry, mumbling something which made us feel like an inconvenience. We were surprised to be sat in the bar area since we had specifically requested NOT to be sat there so went back to her and she simply stated that the other side of the restaurant was for disabled people only (???). This bears to question as to how disabled people can make it up the stairs in the main restaurant area? When we went to the carvery to get our lunch, we only saw one person in a wheelchair and the rest of the guests were not showing any disabilities anywhere in that part of the restaurant. One of us requested a bit of everything from the all the meats and was given literally crumbs from the turkey and tiny slithers from the other meat joints. I would never dare serving such pitiful portions at home to my family. The carver serving was swearing quite blatantly in front of the guests "we do bloody everything here" and rushing people with their orders, again, not the welcome you would expect when you pay to go out for lunch. The mash had run out so I requested a new pot and had to stand there for 5 minutes before some new mash was brought out, while the rest of the vegetables on my plate were going cold. Paying £15 for slithers and crumbs of meat and £12.99 for a meat free carvery (having simply veg on the plate) is a very steep price especially when the environment is not welcoming. If there has been a recent change in management, you may want to rethink your new staff and bring the old staff back as the previous front of the house manager was always welcoming and could never do enough to help. A very disappointing experience, not conducive to renewing a visit anytime soon. ******* Just as an update, further to the manager's response below, I called the given number within 30 minutes of that comment being posted. The phone just rang and rang until it went onto voicemail. I left my name, number and reason for the call. That was over a week ago and I am still waiting for someone to call me back! I guess that is just a confirmation of the (non) service delivered there.

maybe a receipt for buying extra dinners for the homeless . we had no way of knowing whether the money donated will actually go for the homeless.

Tried to book for 10 people, refused our custom as it was too many people, asked for 2 tables of 5 next to each other and was told not possible, why would they refuse our custom? Awful Customer service.

As on all our previous visits everything was great, food really fabulous & service exceptional, very friendly staff.

Was not made welcomed, meat portions served were small, was not told which way the serving area was, not asked if everything was okay or where the drinks machine was located, some vegetables were over cooked, others under cooked, when paying, was not asked to check the amount, was just presented with the machine to tap on, was not wished goodbye.

We thought we would enjoy a roast on a rare day off and trip to the area. Unfortunately, I felt compelled to give this poor review as the front of house staff were unfriendly and to be honest, quite miserable when we entered. We had ordered our drinks/food at the bar which was the obvious place to order, given members of staff were unhelpful. We were told we couldn’t sit at a particular table close to where the roasts were being served even though there were plenty of tables to choose from.. Then, we were told mid-way through eating our meal that we weren’t supposed to be sat at our particular table as it had been set up for dinner, and the lady proceeded to put two chairs to block the walkway and asked if we could put them back when we left! This formed quite a joke with ourselves and two other tables next to us, and thought we’d enjoy our VIP area for as long as possible! Very poor, would not recommend a visit.

I recently visited Tony Carvery for a roast dinner, and I had a wonderful experience! The staff were lovely and made both me and my aunt feel incredibly welcome from the moment we walked in. The roast dinner was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I truly enjoyed my meal here and can't wait to return for another delightful dining experience. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great roast!

On behalf of my child: The staff was very friendly, very attentive and checked on us at various times during our meal if all was okay. We were 3 x boys, age 13 and appreciated that we were treated well and not being made to feel uncomfortable dining without parental supervision.

Place was really busy being half term, just turned up without making a booking and hoped we could dine there.... receptionist, only in the job for 2 weeks, managed to allocate a table in the pub area for the pair of us.....superb service followed by the usual excellent carvery....couldn't recommended this place highly enough....the guy on reception was really up against it but he was so professional and came up with solutions....certainly an asset to the business....well done, keep up the good work....many thanks

Arrived seated straight away.When we went for our carvery there was no gammon available, but the very nice man carving and serving who seemed to be struggling on his own !kept a smile on his face and apologised as was going to be 10mins or more before he had it .Anyway I continued with my meal and out off the blue he came to my table with the gammon on a plate this is good customer service and I do hope that this branch regcongnise his outstanding customer service .Very much appreciated.

This is our favourite carvery and last night we went back for the first time since the refurbishment. Wow! What a change and it looked fab. Food was amazing as ever and there really is no better place to enjoy a carvery. Everytime we try another carvery I just find myself comparing it to here and there isn't really anywhere better.

Good well cooked and importantly hot carvery. Choice of four meats all cooked to perfection. Veg all cooked well, not just blanched. Couldn’t fault anything about our visit.

Wasn't Happy with this visit I always request a Booth near the front or a table out of the way due to PTSD, We got given a table out the way and I said that fine as long as nobody sits on the table less than 2ft away,well a near on empty restaurant and people sit on the table 2ft away,well that was my meal over with,I didn't ask for much but clearly that doesn't matter, I couldn't fault the food we did have it was lovely 10/10

Miserable front of house staff. No acknowledgment when we entered, they just stared at us. When we asked if we can check-in at their desk, the short bloke in a white shirt spoke to my partner like he was an imbecile! In contrast, the chefs and our waiter were friendly, polite, and attentive. Food is what you’d expect; quantity over quality. The floor was filthy by the self serve, covered in bits of dropped food. Not for me, won’t be back here.

Wait in que times not good. One server cutting and kept on going off to get more meat. veg mostly were good. but 25 mins wait not expected

First visit since being recently decorated. Looks very nice with clean toilets. Food was very nice and served in a very timely manner. Great service from our waitress Tracey too.

Arrived at 4pm. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The carvery is what it is, you are either a fan or not! Became very busy & unfortunately a feral child was sat at the table behind us. Screaming & throwing food on the floor. We subsequently could not leave the restaurant quick enough. I hope never to return but it wasn't my choice.
