Arrived at 4pm. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The carvery is what it is, you are either a fan or not! Became very busy & unfortunately a feral child was sat at the table behind us. Screaming & throwing food on the floor. We subsequently could not leave the restaurant quick enough. I hope never to return but it wasn't my choice.

The meat portions are ridiculously small for the price charged. Two of the meat portions were so dry and on the bone, one dared not ask for a portion. The roast potatoes were so dry you could barely cut through them. The choice of vegetables was disappointing. Paying for king-size is not worth it as no extra meat is given, only 2 small sausages and an extra Yorkshire pudding.

It dose feel a little bit like you’re in an old people’s home for lunch..... However the food is great. Tables are packed in close, so don’t expect time for a private convocation. This was the second time in a couple of months we’ve been to this Toby restaurant. It’s never been the best place to have a meal, but it is what you’d expect from this company. The last time we went we assumed it was just a bad day, but unfortunately it was the same issues this time….. 1. The restaurant is extremely hot, all the doors and windows are open, so I can only assume they have ongoing issues with air conditioning? 2. When you go up to the carvery you have to wait ages, approximately 5 minutes for a member of staff to leave the kitchen and serve. Then because the queue has built up, they have to stop serving to get more ingredients to serve. 3. The main reason to go to a Toby is the Yorkshire puddings, last time they were too chewy to cut and eat, this time they were a little better on the texture, but tasted so flowery it was unpleasant to eat. 4. Self-service drink machines were not working last time, so for a refill you had to go to the bar. This time that wasn’t even an option, we were just given two bottles (small bottles) of Coke. On the plus side, the service was excellent, you never expect much from the service in a Toby, but our server Sophie was excellent. Also, some of the side dishes had been changed, a very pleasant addition was roasted parsnips, which were cooked perfectly. At the end of the day, we will keep visiting Toby restaurants, it’s the best and cheapest way to satisfy your roast dinner cravings, but I do hope things will improve. Original review from 5 years ago: Also the staff feel like they are forced into production line mode. This doesn’t allow them to give the best customer service. This appears to be the fault of the company, not the staff. Need a roast dinner ASAP, this is the place.

Tracey, not sure how her name is spelt was very friendly as always and helpful. Clean and cosy environment. Vegetable and gravy overdose (plus some meat). Worth going when there's an offer on food. Drinks are reasonably priced compared to other pubs in the area. Update: after the refit, they have changed most of the bar area into the restaurant. This meant I couldn't get served because the restaurant was full. Lost a star because of this. Clearly the food was not all fresh, it was clear that most of the offerings were left over from the previous night and reheated, I say reheated but most of the items were “warm” a roast dinner should be piping hot. The roast potatoes were cut too small which meant that the whole thing was hard on the exterior with little potato inside. The waiter put my meal into a microwave oven which improved it. I have to say the recent renovation of the restaurant is a vast improvement on the previous establishment, it’s a shame that the food lets it down.

Yorkshire's were normal and not the breakfast ones there was only one egg left and was sitting in cold oil. Very greasy breakfast and not remotely fresh at all. Shame really.

When I requested to order the waitress said we would be better ordering from the bar as she was too busy. Lots of unclean used tables with leftovers on, busy ramed bar without a clean glass in sight. Staff were super stressed and clearly they were understaffed. The que for the food was heading out round the restaurant and the que to get into the restaurant was round the front carpark. No one even noticed we had left the building to go elsewhere. Won't be returning !

Mamma Mia ... what can I say. It's like a Chinese buffet except it's a roast. You can't go back for more meat but boy if you're still feeling hungry after opting for their 'KingSize' plate which includes 2 mahoosive Yorkshire's from the get go you can roll up to get yourself some more - and likely needed - veg .. or mash .. perhaps a parsnip? Whatever keeps your boat afloat. The service provided by our lovely waitress was fantastic that we felt compelled to tip a burger kings worth. Thankfully we missed the queue which looked as if it went all the way back to the good old days but that's to be expected for a Sunday. Great place, great food, great service. Oh, and the brownie for dessert if your gut allows? Marvelous, aside from the stomach cramps I felt after misjudging my stomachs capabilities.

Myself and my elderly mother visited you for Sunday lunch last weekend on arrival everything seemed fine we were shown to our pre booked table and all was good, drinks order taken and we were told we could go upto the carvery section when we were ready, there were four roasts to choose from and we were the first people to be served, this is where the good experience ended, the beef looked over cooked so we thought we would have the lamb - wrong decision absolutely awful over cooked and extremely dry, when being sliced it just broke in small pieces, in my years I haven’t seen the like, we sat down and tried to eat it but just wasn’t good, the waitress asked if all was ok and I told her what I thought of the food quality to which she agreed it didn’t look good, she reported it to the kitchen, no chef came to see us to apologise so we just asked for the bill paid and left, in my opinion if you are looking for a nice Sunday lunch you should avoid this location there are plenty of restaurants in Worthing, with chefs that know how to prepare a good roast dinner for the same sort of cost, don’t waste your time and hard earned monies at this venue, I emailed Toby carvery first to see if they wished to put the situation right

The dining area is extremely tight. Somehow, they managed to run out of Yorkshire puddings. It was only 7pm! You'd think as a carvery restaurant, they would have enough of the basic stuff to see them through. But apprently not. The car park was absolutely tiny and didn't have anywhere near enough spaces to accommodate even half the diners. Finding a parking space nearby is pretty difficult, so I ended up having to walk 10 minutes back to the restaurant. It's not a big deal, but you don't really want a 10 minute walk back to the car after a Toby Carvery. Whilst not specific to this location, I am still confused as to why a Carvery chain doesn't offer chicken gravy. I know they have their own "special" gravy. But let's be honest, it's passable at best. It's not great, and considering most people will be getting turkey. I feel like it's something they should do. I'm not trying to tell Mr Toby how to conduct his Carvery affairs But if you ask me, he needs to pull his finger out and check the temperature of the room.

As we all know and accept, pooches are not welcome so generally it's easier to grab a takeaway, but just been advised they don't do them now and there is a cafe across the road 😉, thanks Toby, for your consideration of the people that can not come in and eat inside for one reason or another. To add injury, the next question on your Google is "did you: dine in, take out or delivery 🤔 😅 thanks and your carpark is bare. Lost 3 takeaways and an unhappy pooch.

Been here so many times but after expensive renovation, more tables? meant standing in a long queue in sweltering conditions for the carvery. Where's the air conditioning? My partner had to go outside she was so hot. Smaller portions too. Too packed and very noisy. Not for me anymore, even for a relatively cheap roast!

This place has gone downhill. The service was adequate but lackluster. The breakfast was poor quality and overcooked. The most disappointing element for me was the coffee. These days people expect good coffee. The offering here was a stewed pot of bitter black something!

Unfortunately the beef was grisly so had to leave the beef, also the roasties were overdone and couldn't cut into them.

Sadly during these challenging times a warmer welcome could be had. To be told closing in half an hour, before being welcomed is sad to hear.
