We booked a table for 12, we had 4 festive menus and the rest were off the main menu, we were worried that our meals would come out at different times as the festive meals were pre ordered, but everything came out together and all food was lovely

Came here with young family and had lunch. Food was decent. Excellent value. Service from staff was the highlight. Friendly and vey helpful - despite my complicated and order and payment. Thanks - we will be back.

I have to say this place has vastly improved. Used to visit a lot and then gave it a miss for a long time. After going for dinner what a total difference. The staff and superb and a lovely smiley young lady at the bar and door. Wonderful

Unpretentious chain pub. The food here is the same as you would get at others in the chain but it is IMO tasty, good value and hits the spot. The staff here in my experience have always been friendly and approachable. Working in the hospitality industry can be hard work, but it's always nice to be greeted with a smile rather than a grimace. I've been coming here on and off for several years a few times a year and it's comfortingly consistent. There is a pub garden but do keep in mind that the pub sits on the corner of a very busy road so it can get a bit loud at times. Lovely large car park. Dont let the signage and machines saying it's a paid car park put you off. You get 4 hours free parking as a customer and you simply put your registration into a machine inside the pub itself. Very simple and easy.

As part of my college course I went to sussex yeoman for a tour and taste of their breakfast menu service was amazing and very fast paced. They were helpful and polite.

This place was friendly to be in, and one place more people should try I personally would go again

Boxing day dinner from normal menu which was varied and delicious. Service a bit slow, not enough staff I think. Good value and will return again.

I contracted food poisoning after a meal on Tuesday lunchtime. Food wasn't nice.

I wasn’t expecting much from Christmas dinner at a Hungry Horse, but my experience was even worse than my very low expectations. The staff tried their best — the pub was clearly massively short staffed — but the food was dire and the service slow. My steak, which was meant to be medium rare, was a dry hunk of overly well done meat. Some roast beef and gravy — uncredited — was put on top of the steak, presumably as some kind of apology. Two of our party had mushroom soups that were cold (though the bread served with the soup was good, and the highlight of the meal). Plentiful chips were cold. Peas had spent so long out under a heat lamp that they were dry and bleached out on top. The Christmas Pudding tasted more like Christmas Cake and was served with instant custard with a skin on. You get the picture. We won’t be returning.

I drove 2 hours to meet my parents for boxing day and was looking forward to my lunch... Omg , what alot of rubbish, embarrassing. They should of closed knowing the pre orders were lost and no staff and awful dried up food. Never again!!!

Booked for family of 8 for 1.30pm, we'll received on entry, then dinner went down hill from there, main meal for some of us was cold and had to be reheated, one meal was not as ordered and we were told by the manager can't do anything about it it's allready plated up a very rude man who seemed flustered even pointing his finger and what appeared to be arguing with him chef in view off the customers, however on the good side the young ladies waiting on us wer very professional and polite and cannot be praised enough. Bullet Points, 1, the manager was rude and appeared flustered. 2. The food was mainly cold. 3. The waitresses were excellent bless them.

Absolutely disgusting. We have been going to the sussex Yeoman for many years.had a few problems previously but not as bad as boxing day. Table booked for 1 o'clock for 16 of us.This was the 1st year I decided I wouldn't cook for all of us and we would go out for dinner. Left at 3.55 without eating. We had previously booked and ordered our food 2 weeks prior.After finally getting seated at our table that myself and my daughter had to clean We were greeted by "sorry we have run out of some of your starters,would you like to order something else" we did, but three guests went with out. We then sat their for over 90 minutes without any sign of our main course.no staff to be seen to say what was happening. At 3.55, we decided to leave and requested a full refund.there were two other parties in the restaurant who were also requesting a refund as they had been waiting longer than us. It was a total disappointment for my family, ruined our Christmas.

Booked for 4 people on Christmas Eve, never again! Despite being made to pre-order weeks ago, several items were unavailable. After nearly an hour wait, we were delivered incorrect starters and mains then told "that's what my system says". The incorrect meal I did get was horrible, chips undercooked everything else overcooked. The chicken and pigs in blankets were inedible as they were actually burnt. They did refund one main meal but honestly ruined what should have been an enjoyable family meal for christmas. The rest of the meals were all missing elements that were advertised on the menu when booking. This place used to be excellent and we would go here regularly, but has gone downhill over the last year and tonight was the final straw, Won't be returning.

Terrible experience here. Booked for Xmas lunch for 14:30 arrival. Arrived early but still had to wait another 10 mins after 14:30 to be seated. We got led to our table and then got left for 20 minutes with no one coming to us. Eventually we got brought our cutlery and soon the starters arrived. The soup was cold. The waitress was lovely but we only saw her twice the whole time. Severely understaffed. The food felt and tasted like it had been microwaved. After another 50 minute wait our mains arrived. It was the most disappointing disgusting food I’ve ever been served. The turkey was dry and had a horrible taste. One plate was cold. One was boiling the others were tepid. After a couple of bites we decided to call it a day. This has ruined our Christmas Day. Never again will we come for food here. Full refund requested and given. I understand Christmas is stressful for the staff there but the quality of the food and the time it took for food to come out, it’s just not good enough. Since arriving home one member of our party has been sick. Could possibly been the duck starter or the turkey that had a terrible taste to it. Pigs in blankets were overdone and burnt. The red cabbage was just water. The roast potatoes are what I’d of classed as Aunt Bessys :/ The bar staff are lovely though ! Big shout out to them both! I’m sorry you got treated the way you did by some people there !

I recently entered this establishment for a few refreshments with an old friend. I was very surprised with the level of care I received. We had a delicious meal and 2 delicious beverages and I was so impressed I insisted on requesting the names of the girls that serve us. Katie was extremely helpful and Ella was refreshing and welcoming. Will absolutely return here again if I’m ever back from New Zealand.

Hmm, very busy. Food was OK but my meal was not the one I ordered :(. The staff were run off their feet but they were generally friendly. :)

Met up with family and visited for breakfast, no need to book, reasonable food and decent coffee. The booths have kids TV playing but we selected a table to chat.

Firstly, I wanted to praise the staff. Not only were they friendly and very efficient, they also managed to keep a straight face when they brought out the food. Now, I know the Hungry Horse is the Ryanair of hospitality, and I was not expecting fine dining, but I did expect the food to be edible. I now know why it’s called the Hungry Horse. It’s because the horse would never go near the offerings, in this case from the festive menu (which incidentally was about as festive as my big toe). To add insult to injury we had a French man in our party who prides himself on his culinary abilities. Tragically he order the Brie and Cranberry bites as a starter. No salad as advertised. Just three sad little deep fried triangles slung on a plate with some cranberry sauce. The rest of the starters were acceptable - the soup, prawn cocktail and chicken strips were fine. Unfortunately, this was followed by the main course. The vegan members of our group were given Yorkshire puddings with their roast. In any ither situation this would have been a bonus because the remaining guests would have gladly fought over a spare yorky. Alas ladies and gents, this is no Toby. They tasted like a combination of wallpaper paste and flour, cooked in a hot oven for 30 minutes then kicked along a pavement before landing on your plate. The vegetables were so overcooked that it looked like a pile of slop and had zero flavour. The roast potatoes were OK. The Brussels sprouts with cheese was not cooked so I am not sure how it was ‘crisped under the grill’ . It had to go back but looked so revolting on its return we did not eat it. The absolute piece de resistance was the ‘turkey’. Never in my life have I been presented with such an abomination. I can genuinely say the slices of heavily processed poultry tasted, I kid you not, like you were eating the contents of a pig pen. I have no idea what was in it but Bernard Matthew’s would turn in his grave. Desserts were largely fine although my husband’s Christmas pudding would definitely be classed as a slither in our house. The warning signs were there. The restaurant was virtually empty, the bar service was slow and they were very short staffed. Either that or they were all running about catching the tumbleweed. I will sum this up and say that my husband never ever complains. He was going to speak to the staff on the way out because he was so astounded we could be charged for food that I would not offer as a booby prize to someone detained at His Majesty’s Pleasure. Being terribly British, and knowing that this sub par fayre is not the fault of the chap in charge of the microwave, we paid up and left. But Greene King, when the fat cats are sitting around the board table soon, planning Christmas 2025, desperately trying to increase profits, get them to mystery shop NOW so they have a chance to see what you are serving up. Yes, it was £20 a head. Yes, generally in life you get what you pay for, but it has to be palatable don’t you think? Greene King, Christmas is about making memories and this is something we as a family will never forget. So thank you for that.

Food was amazing, they dealt with my daughters severe allergies perfectly, was a little slow to be served but they only had one person front of house on a Sunday afternoon, food came out really quickly though and the little kids play area was a hit too, also didn't have many food options available as it was out of stock which was a shame

From breakfast to festive fayre, a great experience. Staff are welcoming and attentive: they provide a friendly start to the day with a delicious breakfast, and were excellent at our festive meal a few days later. The salmon at the festive meal was the reason for celebrating the season here, and the whole experience was very enjoyable.

Dirty tables and food all over the floor. High chairs were filthy. Kids play area covered in rubbish. Glasses were dirty. All the food was over cooked Staff were nice, and service was good. Needs cleaning though, sticky tables, sauces everywhere; Chips and god knows what all under the tables and dirty cutlery Not good

We're good old fashioned table service is no longer available also never go there on a Sunday as they seem to have run out of everything including milk for coffee Not very impressed with the service I received.

Staff are incredibly friendly, chatty and informative, easy to have a good laugh with. Meals comes quickly with amazing service. Will definitely be back.

A 5pm sitting on a Sunday for a family birthday (I understand it was that or 8pm, which did not work as there were children involved). When we arrived the staff seemed a little disinterested, just pointed us towards that table at the back. The table was sticky, with bits of food still stuck in places that one of our group sat picking off. A family member did say the stickiness was (hopefully) the cleaning products used. When we ordered food two of us were hoping for the Sunday roast, but were then told the restaurant had run out. Understandable on a Sunday, but a shame we weren’t told this before ordering and were left feeling pressured to make snap decision on an alternative as everyone else had ordered. The food was okay, but nothing special. We were the only people in the restaurant, so the atmosphere couldn’t be helped, but overall below average and disappointing. I won’t be in a rush to return.

Family occasion. Pub/restaurant was virtually empty. We were left with empty plates in front of us for over 15 minutes. Staff were lovely, but seemed to be hardly any there!

An excellent place for breakfast.

We absolutely love coming the the Sussex Yeoman! We are always met with such a warm welcome, especially when we see Dave and Leanne. The service is great and there is a lot of choice on the menu which helps us with a toddler. The TV screens with kids shows on in the booths are brilliant and the price is absolutely fantastic for their menu. Highly recommend for a handy and affordable family meal at any time of day!

I recently visited the Sussex Yeoman again, and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the value for money was impressive. The food was satisfying, with generous portions and a range of options that cater to different tastes. A special mention goes to Leanne, who provided exceptional service throughout my visit. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. Her professionalism really stood out, and it added a personal touch to the overall experience. Came in for a family birthday, overall was a lovely meal. They were very understaffed, felt sorry for the bar man Sam and waitress Leanne they were amazing considering how under staffed they were. Leanne went above and beyond. Unfortunately one of the kids burgers wasn’t cooked it was raw. Leanne was lovely and sorted this issue for us. So thank you Leanne.

Went in for dinner with my family the other day and i must say the food was excellent, the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, the assistant manager nikki was lovely she was paitent and understanding and made sure the service was great for everyone in my party. I'd gladly come back to eat again

Came for breakfast, was very quiet but not a problem, service from team was good, cutlery not provided by the team working for breakfast was slightly odd, maybe because half of the cutlery wasn't clean and save the embarrassment of handing it out to customers could be the cause... we can see you have a polishing machine, but majority of the forks had food still on them in a mix of clean cutlery.. Hair found in the breakfast was not great, long female hair within the baked beans However overall expectations and experience, wasn't amazing but was horrendous

Had the worst experience in Worthing the other month, 3 of our and on ehad the large steak with chips (which he had only 8) I had the sizzling steak which was congealed and when I mentioned to the server it was not sizzling she walked away) daughter had the double stack burger and it was just as flat as a.pancake, we also ordered 2 cocktails which came just in a normal tall glass and nothing else, when I went up to say this is not what is on the menu and no gin in them just shrugged their shoulders,.foe the steak they did not give s steak knife? And noone came to see how the meal was, sent report to the company but had no reply, would not recommend at all.

Just a very relaxing place to eat in, in spite of lots of families and children around. Excellent food, pleasant helpful staff

Went today about 4pm for a meal, had a lovely steak and mini mixed grill. Service was excellent, the young lad made sure I enjoyed with my hungry horse experience and ensured that my meal was to my liking. Food was of a good value for me and my partner.

Went for dinner, took about 15 minutes to get seated. The staff were rude when we went in saying the have other jobs to do. Once seated the table was absolutely filthy and sticky and menus were covered in food. In the end we decided to leave the restaurant and go somewhere else.

Was my Nan's birthday on Monday, so we booked a table at the Sussex Yeoman. Upon arriving, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Drinks came quickly and with a smile. There were 9 of us ranging age wise from 14 to 99, and vegan to carnivore. Everyone had a great choice of food from the menu ( definitely the best vegan and vegetarian selections in Goring ). The food arrived quickly and was really good and tasty pub food. The portions were so large that only a couple of us managed desert....I'm very glad that I was one of them. Great deserts. Overall it's a lovely pub with great staff. Will definitely be returning.

Nice food, value for money but the place needs a damn good clean. The toilets were dusgusting, seemed like they hadnt been cleaned for days, stunk awful. Makes you wonder how vlean the kitchens are. Hardly any customers, food was good and service fast.

Came in for lunch without booking. Greeting was really good and plenty of tables available. Ordered food and drinks on the app, both of which arrived quickly and food was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will happily come again.
