Not one clean plate out of 7 all had dried food at the bottom. The lady changed my plate it was just as bad. We had a long day travelling otherwise I would of had a refund and walked out. The top was clean!

High quality carvery food excellently prepared and presented. Veggies were not overcooked. Roast potatoes were not dried out and hard but flavourful. One suggestion would be a barrier just before where the carvery ends to make space for people to go up and refill their plates without queuing. Currently, you feel like you're breaking in the line if you pop up for extra roast potatoes and veggie.

Food very tasty and staff lovely. First time of being here and would definitely go again. Always love a Toby Carvey and it didn't disappoint 👌 Well done 👏 Only criticism which didn't affect the food and atmosphere was the bins outside coming from the car park were overflowing and the Vegetarian gravy and condiments were not replenished when we were there after 5pm.

It is an English style restaurant that our family loves. We visit every month. We love the taste of the food and I love the ice cream too. Sometimes we bring our colleagues or customers to try this restaurant. It is close to home, delicious and inexpensive.

Didn't realise I had an invisibility cloak!! Walked in at 4.20 today, 3 maybe 4 tables sat. Guy eventually appears and sits us right where there are other people so not tucked away. We sat, we sat, we sat some more. Husband went to ask at the bar if we pay and order there, was told someone will come....well we sat, and sat and the we left, as we left 2 staff who were having a chat said "thanks" my husband said "we haven't had anything nobody bothered to come to us" they clearly weren't listening as they just looked at us and we left. Absolute joke

Booked a table for 10am. Waited in a queue that wasn’t moving the restaurant was fairly empty. Only saw 2 staff the whole time. Over heard a man complain that all the plates were dirty so I went and had a look while I left my husband In the queue. He was right they were gross. Looked like they had been licked clean. There was also no hash browns or beans and the sausages looked anaemic. I thought once we get through 1 queue we’ll be waiting for food to be cooked at a buffet. Life’s too short so we left.

My friend and I enjoyed a carvery lunch yesterday, it was fairly quiet so no queues and plenty of meat and veg. Desserts were delicious. We had a nice experience. The waitress was friendly too.

I have been going to The Toby Carvery for years for breakfast. I park the car and exchange greetings with whoever I may be meeting and go in for breakfast. At the counter I was greeted, paid the bill and sat and had breakfast. However, 10 days later I received a letter saying I was being fined £100 for parking my car for the pleasure of enjoying my breakfast. My point being, if Toby Carvery have employed Euro Car Parks to police their establishment it would have been reasonable to have been told when paying the bill on arrival, that there has been a change in the parking arrangements. I think it's fair to say I hadn't expected there to be changes to the parking arrangements. The staff in this establishment are always very courteous and I am sure on this day it was an oversight. The breakfast is always very good and value for money and I have been going here for years. I have my card receipt, luckily, that proves I was a paying customer. I feel sure The Toby Carvery would not be happy a long serving visitor to their eatery has fallen victim to a £100 fine for having breakfast. Once again, on arrival I was busy greeting friends and walking/talking not checking out a car park used to going to for changes etc, I hope that Toby Carvery may assist in getting this charge removed as I was a customer so that I can happily return again to enjoy their otherwise great service.

Lovely service, lovely spinach and mushroom puff pastry thingy, hubby loved his salmon pie, which is a nice change from a basic cavery. Special thank you to Carla for looking after me and the family. Will be definitely back again. (Good to hear Taylor Swift on the playlist, but obviously need more) Just a side note, good wheelchair access, although the path is a little bumpy on the way in!

First impression of the place was that it could benefit from a bit of TLC, this impression was reinforced after visiting the WC where a refit would not be amiss and a deep clean should be top of the things to do list, even the sign informing customers that one of the hand driers was broken, looked ancient. As for the food, Sundays price was a basic £13.99 plus £1.99 to go king size. For this I got two slices of nice gammon, a slice of cold dry beef , two yorkshires and two over cooked ,hard, thick skinned tasteless sausages. They were so hard the knife could not cut them, they had to be perforated with the fork several times first before yielding to the knife. Surely the vegetables would be OK, moving along to the help yourself vegetable section, it would seem not. The crisp fluffy roasted potatoes in the pictures were not on view today ( except in photos ) instead dark greasy pebble shaped things were on offer along with an assortment of other over cooked delights. I am not surprised that the gravy is popular here, if ever gravy was needed here is the place. On the plus side the front of house staff, were very good, helpful, cheerful and hard working. My last visit here was about six years ago and I seem to remember if was fine, I think infinity will come and go before the next visit. We all make choices some are good and some less so....

Myself and my son visited here for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The staff were so welcoming and friendly from the moment we walked in and we were seated straight away. Drinks order was taken within minutes of sitting down. I ordered the vegetarian option at the carvery and was informed that this would take around 15 minutes. My son ordered a yorkshire pudding wrap and we were told that this would take around 20 minutes as they were busy and were asked if this was ok, which is was. The waitress checked in with us regularly to give us updates that it would be 10 minutes, then 5 minutes. Mine and my sons food was ready at the exact same time which is so often not the case when you order veggie food! The carvery was hot and very tasty and I was really impressed with the veggie option of a brocoli and brie pie - but be warned - its massive!! Overall I would highly recommend a meal here. There is a good amount of free parking, every member of staff was really friendly and welcoming and the food was nice and hot, tasty and reasonably priced.

gone down hill. the veg was luke warm. the beef was fatty and tuff. when my wife ask if he could get a new lamb because there was just bone left the chef said there is more lamb left on the bone there was not . the chef was miserable. the veg was not tastey lost all the flavour. the potatoes were soggy. Will not be going back.

We ordered 2 takeaway dinners today (Sunday). Food was ready pretty quick after arriving which is good but unfortunately the meat was terrible in fact we ate only one of the four meats we ordered which was the gammon, beef was tough, lamb dry and tough and the pork really dry. Yorkshire pudding had the texture of a prawn cracker not worth eating. The veg was fine and plenty of it to be fair but at nearly £25 worked out expensive as an incomplete meal for us both. There is no excuse for serving dry tough meat . I have not eaten in there since it's re opened so can't comment on how the food is when you eat in but I wouldn't recommend a takeaway.

We are a family of six and had to book two tables as all those for six people were taken. I was seated with my wife at a table for four and the children separately at the other end of the restaurant, but it was immediately evident that we could have sat together. My wife and I were seated at a table for four with a table next to us for two people, and the children seated at a table which could easily have seated six if we added one extra chair.When we suggested this, the manager (a man named Phil) refused to accommodate us stating that he had to think of his staff and social distancing etc. How was adding an extra chair to the table going to put his staff at risk? There was a table next to it for six people so why would us adding an extra chair to the children's table going to put anyone at risk?? If the manager is so concerned with safeguarding his staff then why are there no masks worn by him or any of his staff? Why are there no arrows on the floor? Why are so many tables so close together? Either we could have taken one of our chairs to make a table for six (see photograph) and that would have freed up our table for other guests, many of whom were being turned away, or we could all have sat at our table and the one next to us (without even moving the tables) and the couple next to us could have sat where the children were seated.The couple next to us, sympathetic to our request and also at a loss to understand why we could not sit together, offered to sit where the children were but ‘Phil’ was adamant that we would sit where we were put. He repeated several times that we booked a table for two and a table for four and that is how it would stay… “that is a table for four and it will remain a table for four!” With a little understanding and no effort he could have made our visit so much more enjoyable, but he was not interested. Unbelievable.We were shocked at how stubborn Phil was and his complete refusal to allow us to sit together as a family when it was so easy to manage. One of the waitresses, sympathetic to our plight, said ‘it all comes from head office’… really? Head office dictates that the manager should stick to bad management, nonsensical decisions, and separate a family for a Sunday lunch despite the fact that they could easily have been put together and in the process freeing up a table for other diners? Difficult to believe.We drove 45 minutes to get to this restaurant and although we were so shocked by Phil’s attitude, we could not leave as the children were very hungry. Our visit was spoiled by Phil who stood at the front desk and would not even come over to our table after we pleaded with him. He showed no compassion or understanding for us, his customers, and did not want to admit that what he was doing was not only completely illogical but ridiculous. The customers experience should be at the heart of the operation and that is something that does not seem to matter at this restaurant.

MOLLYwe arrived at toby carvery at 5.45pm, 2 dogs and 4 adults We were told food delays of 1hour so we waited patiently, then revisted the front desk at 6.55pm (1hr and 10 minutes) after advised time… to then be told the wait was an extra 40 minutes, (and was told that it is not for certain that we can even have a carvery followed by some pathetic excuses) Was also told that indoor seating had PRIORITY, I then led to explain how as we had dogs, the indoor seating was an invalid option for our party. We have been discriminated against. We travelled 1 hour 35minuets to get a carvery to be let down. Bar ladies where lovely but a very arrogant, rude and ignorant man at the front desk let Toby Carvery down completely. We are regular customers to this establishment and can safely say we will never be coming again!

The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere but it took a time to get a waitress to come and serve us. The drinks were on the table by the time we returned from the carvery counter. Our main criticism is the very small amount of meat dished up, very poor. The vegetables made up for it a bit as they were fresh and well cooked, but twice the amount of meat served would have been about right.

Had a great selection of meats and accompaniments. All food was hot and tasted lovely. We were enjoying the drinks too, which we found there to be a good choice of. While we were there our daughter sadly had a seizure. The manager was promptly with us after a staff member alerted him. Ambulance service arrived within minutes after his call, we also thank them from the bottom of our hearts. The manager was brilliant throughout the incident. If he wasn't with us he was checking in on my parents and our son, who naturally were worried. The waiting staff were also brilliant in ensuring we were all ok. We cannot thank everyone enough for what they did. They did all they could during this time. Daughter is thankfully doing OK. We'd had an enjoyable meal until the incident and would return again if we are in the area. Its good value for money.

Had the pleasure of being invited out for a meal to the Toby carvery, found the service very good but was a little concerned that the meat selection was a bit thin on the ground plenty of turkey but found the other meats may have seen better days.Was a bit surprised to have my sweet brought out to be told we didn’t have any strawberries is that ok ? Feeling it did not give me a choice but to except the sweet rather than refuse it were as if I was informed before being served up I could have chose something else.On saying all this the carvery with turkey was very nice.

unfortunately we did not book in advance , we did not realise that the carvery would be so busy on a tuesday night -- however , although "rushed off her feet " the manageress "squeezed us in".we were not expecting too much because the staff were all "flat out" but to our surprised our cavery meal was the best we have had at a toby for a very long time and wished we lived local so that we could visit more often.

The guy working on the carvery was incredible. Sadly I do not know his name but his entire left arm was covered in tattoos that he did himself. He was very friendly and listened to each customer. There was a family in front of us who were Deaf. They were trying to use sign language to let him know which meats they wanted and the server was patient and took the time to make them feel acknowledged. He even gave them a thank you in sign language, despite clearly not knowing any sign language more than that.Our server, which the reciept says Casey but I'm not sure if that was her. I thought it might be Claire. She was so friendly and helpful. The table next to us had allergies and she took the time to go through their allergen matrix with them. She also asked both managers what they could and couldn't eat. She went 110% to make sure that they were comfortable and not at risk. We had a fantastic visit.

Went to this Toby Carvery Weds 4th August with my husband, two children 12 and 13 yrs, and my mum. I have been to many Toby Carvery's but this one is definitely at the top of my list. If I didn't live 40+ miles away, this would be my 'go to' place. I first went in at lunchtime to book a table for the evening and was met by a lovely lady who couldn't have been any friendlier. Table booked!! Hurrah! Went back at 6.10pm and was met by the manager who was just as lovely as her colleague. She took us to a round table, asked if it was ok, told us where everything was that we needed and said that Willow would be serving us. Along comes Willow in her mask who was so sweet and friendly, she was a great server. We all queued for a very short time at the carvery station. The meat looked (and was) gorgeous, large Yorkshire pudding, two different types of roast potatoes, carrots, peas, cabbage, macaroni cheese, mash potato, cauliflower cheese, onions in gravy, what more could you want?! It was absolutely delicious and we were all stuffed but still made room for dessert. There was a problem with my mums dessert and Willow was incredibly apologetic and gave a different dessert as she was not happy giving us 'something that wasn't right'. We had the refill drinks. We then finished our meals, paid and decided to go and sit in the beer garden to watch the few hundred starlings flying around but on the way my son dropped his glass of Pepsi. I went back in to explain there was broken glass, the lovely manager said 'I'll get you a new glass, don't worry we will clean all that up', I got the new glass and saw Willow speed out of the door with the dustpan and broom. Fantastic service. I got the new drink and went and mentioned to the manager how much of a good time we had had and how good her staff were. She thanked me for acknowledging her and the staff, I told her I would leave a review, and here it is. Thank you once again for such a wonderful evening, we will be back!

Was in Eastbourne for day (Sunday) and all wanted roast I think if you've been to a Toby before you know what to expect but this was even better, lovely staff the young chef serving the meat was so lovely, the food itself was delicious especially beef dripping roast potatoes every part of our meals was perfect, lovely experience and definitely be new favourite even though its long drive for us definitely give it a try

Attempted to visit here for a drink but was told by the staff on the door there were no tables free. It was 12.05 lunchtime and there was one couple in there and a family of 5. We were told there would be a table in 30 minutes!! So I am not sure who was going to file in and fill, at a guess 60 tables, eat up and be out in 30 minutes. Your loss

My husband went to pick this meal up for me from the restaurant this evening , I ordered a Carvery with turkey and pigs in blankets as an extra, I was amazed by how much of it there was , easily enough for 2 meals , everything was in individual pots so if there was something you didn’t like it was easy as you didn’t have to try and separate it , there was really thickly sliced turkey and plenty of it , along with stuffing in a separate tub and also pigs in blankets in a separate tub, the Yorkshire pudding was in a bag, there was also a large bag of the most gorgeous crispy roast potatoes , another large tub full of mashed potato , then a large tray with carrots, peas and cauliflower cheese in it , and finally a large tub of gravy , it was so easy to dish up , I really was thrilled with it , will definitely be getting another one soon 5*

You know not to get your expectations too high when visiting a Toby carvery and we weren’t dissapointed. Food was OK but service was poor, waited ages to be served. Veg had been defrosted so was watery and tasteless. Don’t get your hopes up too much. One of our party had the wrong drink delivered, asked for the correct drink only to find we’d been charged for both when the bill arrived. We paid and are never coming back.

To celebrate my mother's birthday she chose to go to the Toby. Well we were not disappointed! Fresh and hot, service was great... Waitress was getting her daily steps in with covid restrictions they have to take your meal to the table. All staff were polite and attended our every need without a fuss..... Bring on the pudding..... If I wasnt on a diet I could of devoured the full dessert menu... Mother had fruit crumble and compilmented its the best she's ever had.... Giant salted caramel cake... Wow massive and moist... Cookie dough sundae went down a treat with the kids... Well done Eastbourne team you're going a fabulous job x

Bearing in mind this was the first day they could open their restaurant I was very pleased with the service, customers were seated after registering on the nhs app, you are then told when you can go up so people are kept safe with the serving staff on the food stacking your plates up as if you have not eaten for 12 months.The food was nice and hot and nothing seemed to much trouble for them to oblige.This included the waitress that also dealt with the customers on a friendly and polite basis.

Three of us visited today, WOW came on the off chance of a table, day before lockdown...we were not disappointed... The beef cooked to perfection...the turkey moist and very tender...all the vegetables complimented the meal perfectly...our waitress was outstanding, sadly didn't get her name, she may remember us because she advised us of your app before paying.... please pass on our thanks!! Came here the other day for lunch. A really friendly chap at the door (I think Curtis?) helped assist us with a table. We hadn’t booked but it wasn’t a issue, he guided us to fill in a quick and simple track and trace and bang we was at the table! We were served by a lovely lady Karla, full of smiles. Throughout I noticed all the staff very attentive when carrying our plates to our table. My beef was stunning, kids loved the gammon as always and the veg was plentiful and the roasts spuds were bang on, kid stuffed themselves full. Our midweek lunch at the Toby Carvery Willingdon Drove in Eastbourne didn't start well. Much to my own embarrassment I'd made our booking for the following week. This was a problem because our friends had also booked a table at the same time. The very helpful man at the door pointed out my mistake, but told us as we are a family of five and our friends were a four, he couldn't fit us in. With some jiggling around he said he'd fit us in just 40 minutes later than we booked. Fantastic I said. All of us had a great meal if separated because of covid. Speaking for myself, this was the best Toby Carvery I'd ever had. Normally I don't bother with the beef, usually its to fatty for me but today I can honestly say it was as good if not better than any beef I've had in some more specialized restaurants. The veg was fresh and cooked to perfection, sometimes this can look a little tried but not today. I don't usually do reviews, but I felt its the least I could do after being saved from a fairly embarrassing situation for myself and having such good wholesome meal. We went there on the 16th for breakfast. We had to tick what we wanted and then a waitress came over and took our food order and drinks aswell. Well we waited 25mins for our coffee to be delivered. Then we noticed everyone was getting bread with there breakfast, not toasted. So I tracked the waitress down and said is there no toast and she said no. The so called manager stepped in and said he told us which he didn't... we asked if they can put the bread under the grill he said no they don't have facilities like that, I find that hard to believe especially at tobys. He then said they haven't had a toaster for 3 weeks. Well I'm sorry that is no excuse at all, you can buy a cheap one and do toast. The place was not even busy at all maybe 12 people all in all... it was now 45 mins and still no food and we weren't happy. We wanted a good cooked breakfast with toast so we left. Really disgusted in the manager who actually was no where to be seen only the waitress running around.. avoid at all cost...

La mía llegó en dos platos, pastel en uno y verduras y pudín de Yorkshire en el otro, que estaba inundado de salsa líquida insípida. Durante su estancia en el Premier Inn cercano, optamos por el desayuno en el Toby Inn, ya que estaba menos deteriorado y parecía más limpio que el Mill. El desayuno no comenzaba hasta las 09:00 y luego, por alguna razón, todos los clientes estaban sentados en una esquina de lo que era un gran restaurante. La mayoría de las verduras estaban cubiertas con salsa de queso, lo que significaba que mi hija no podía comerlas porque tiene alergia a la leche y, en cuanto a la comida de los niños, pedimos comida a mis hijas solo para que nos dijeran que no tenían las comidas disponibles para las personas alérgicas a la leche. . También informamos al personal que íbamos a traer a nuestro hijo de 1 año al hacer la reserva y no había silla de bebé disponible hasta el postre. La gracia salvadora de este lugar fue el desayuno. Very unhappy with the service we received from this Toby carvery! Booked a table 4 days prior to our visit, 4 adults and 2 high chairs which we stated quite clearly in the notes section of the online booking, we were told on arrival that he had only just seen the note about the highchairs so he couldn’t give us a table big enough!! this is completely unacceptable! Not sure why they have a notes section on their booking page if they don’t even bother to read the notes? And when we asked what he suggested we do as we drove 45 minutes and had a table booked for 4 days, all he could come up with was go away as there was nothing he could do. Definitely will not he visiting this restaurant again, which is a shame as it was my favourite place to eat. Poor service from a very very rude man who made no effort to try and help us sit and eat with our 3 toddlers. Luckily there was a nice pub down the road who made space for us last minute.

Arrived for breakfast on mon 24 th aug where we were turned away by a frankly rude and smug member of staff , beacause we had booked a table of six but had a sleeping baby of 6 months in a car seat and therefore a party of seven ???( even though the baby did not require a seat or would be eating ).Other members of our family who had booked separately were already seated were not informed they had been refused entry and had to find out via a phone call., they decided to leave as well .When the booking was made there is no information during the booking process to include any babies in the party numbers , even if they are not eating , if this is frankly the ridiculous rules made by Toby , then surely it needs to be made clear during the booking process. The whole encounter was upsetting and embarrassing , as I booked for a family treat after a short break in lovely Eastbourne, I am fully aware that due to Covid restrictions extra precautions have to be put in place , and we were fully aware that our large party would be seated separately and adhere to these restrictions ,what I wasn’t prepared for was a rude , smug , and dismissive member of staff . We travelled to a nearby restaurant, who were happy to accommodate us , BREAKFAST WAS SAVED .

This was a hard review to write as I’m not sure if the bad experience was because of the changes due to COVID. Been before and had a good experience but since the changes, it seems even busier, unable to go up to get any extra potato and veg as have to re-que and the queues seem double what they used to be. Based on that we left very disappointed, but previously we have been and had a nice meal so putting it down to the recent changes - and hopefully it was a one off!

We arrived just after 8am and were seated straight away. Breakfast is served from 8am yet I found the bacon to be tasteless and had the texture of cardboard. I don’t understand how the bacon could be so hard when it’s only just been cooked. Unfortunately, the eggs were also overcooked. The sausages were of good quality and the hash browns were tasty but the mushrooms were bland. We found the staff to be friendly and welcoming which gave a good atmosphere. Although the breakfast is cheap, the price of the drinks are quite expensive. I’d rather pay more for the breakfast and have better quality/cooked food.

We were guided to a distanced table and told about the process regarding breakfast, as well as being extremely thorough wrt allergens! We had breakfast here after staying at the travelodge next door. It was OK. I had a cooked breakfast. There was no breakfast gravy to go with my Yorkshire, and the bacon was like cardboard. The egg was cooked nicely but not runny, hash browns and beans were nice. Also my boyfriend noticed there were lots of ants over by the window and around the edges of the wall, we notified the staff of this and the lady came and cleaned it within a few minutes. I probably wouldn’t go here for breakfast again as it wasn’t very hot.

I was first told of for goi g to the bar without telling anyone . After waiting outside for 10 mins I was turned away again for being to early . I complained about it being cold outside . When we went in again for a third time we were told to leave as we had a baby in the group and we had not booked her in ( I think they only done that cause I complained) . There was 2 disabled people in my group but they refused us entry cause of the baby . So so rude as well . The manager thought he was so smug . Definitely won’t go back there

Went as a surprise family breakfast, 4 adults and 3 children..Wish we hadnt, very poor customer service, no one greeted us on arrival and to ask about table, all the tanles where dirty and we had to clear our own.Very poor quality of food, which wasnt being replenished in time so you had long wait at the buffet counter to get everything. Plates run out and when the staff got more they where dirty.Staff on the floor where unhelpful and miserable. Will never return here after this experience, your better of saving your money and time and find a good cafe in town.

Tough one, vedge quality average with plenty always there but even for an adults meal the meat you get given is a portion smaller then a childs by serving staff that everytime looked annoyed your even asking for it! How they even have a food n health certificate is beyond me, i know this due to a close friend provided the refit and in the kitchen was an abundance of mouldy food and surprises under units etc. Would definitely prefer a pub roast then this "delight"

Woo what a waste of money.Gravy so watery I’ve seen thicker diarrhoea!!The lack of meat would make you think I asked for a vegan meal, damn thing so cold I was worried it had frost bite turned the heating up to try to bring some life to that god awful meal. Potatoes so under cooked you would think the chef had a phobia of ovens And let’s talk about how ridiculously late it was I started waiting in my 20s, when it got here I had to find my dentures.

We have herd so much about this Toby and decided to take a drive from Hove, It was well worth the trip as it was definitely one of the best carverys we have had, It does get busy and you will have to pre book to get a table rather than just turning up, All the food is fresh and tastes amazing and there deserts are on point, There prices are very good, All the staff are friendly and Jack was doing our table service and just want to say what a nice polite funney guy, Parking is free and there is lots of spaces even tho it was fully booked, We will be 100% coming back

The first impressions are very poor. The garden, pathway and entrance areas were full of litter, cans, cigarette butts and an overflowing ashtray. Clearly the management team had not inspected for days or delegated responsibility for clearing up?Not busy as mid afternoon but everything was difficult. Had to chase up drinks order and get knives and forks from another table.Some food was tasty, Yorkshire Puddings excellent, but many of the vegetable dishes were over cooked and dry or simply had not been replenished. Maybe they should close for a couple of hours in the afternoon so avoiding this issue?Will not be going back anytime soon.

My wife and Ihave 'undertaken' the breakfast here on several occasions as a 'treat' and in doing so drive 20 odd miles.The reception you receive is always cheerful and polite.The selection of available food is extremely wide and the ability to make your own decisions as what to eat and how much to eat therefore suits every individual diner's taste.Coffee an tea is refillable at no extra cost as is toast from multi coloured breads.It is an especially good recommendation that so many tradesmen use the restaurant!A great way to start a day. Roll on our next breakfast treat.

We had the Sunday carvery. The food was fresh and full of flavour. The staff were polite and helpful. Prices are reasonable and offer good value. Pleasant surroundings. It was a relaxed atmosphere and we weren't rushed out of the door. Will go again. Would recommend.

Usual tap beers available. I had a Guinness which was very nice. Music being piped through which was very pleasant. Wooden floors throughout and a mix match of tables and chairs. Staff were friendly and polite. Descently decorated. Enjoyed my visit.

Met with a smile and seated at a table near the window that had excellent views. We had Aubergine Gratin and a Hunters Chicken Schnitzel, both were hot and tasty, followed by the Honeycomb Domes. Would definitely go again.

My self and my wife were on a romantic night away and wanted something close to the hotel and the mill was right next door and we are so glad we ate there. We both had the mixed grill and it was perfect the service was fabulous the only slight negative was the restaurant was a bit chilly.

I had a shocking experience at The Pier Hotel, Eastbourne, and I strongly urge others to avoid staying here. The entire ordeal was a nightmare from start to finish. When I arrived a little earlier than the 2 pm check-in time, the front door was locked, and there was a piece of paper attached saying it would only be open from 2 pm to 10 pm. This is highly unusual and unprofessional for a hotel. I returned at 2 pm and was greeted by a receptionist named Muhammad, who told me that the room I had booked—a single room with a bath—was no longer available due to “bad bugs.” When I asked if he meant “bed bugs,” he curtly corrected me but offered no apology for the inconvenience or lack of communication beforehand regarding this health hazardous conditions they were in. I reluctantly agreed to accept a different room, as there were no other options, but when I asked about their lost key policy (they charge £60 if a key is lost but no one will be there to collect my keys at the reception when I check out at 10am), the receptionist suddenly became hostile. He shouted at me, told me I could no longer stay, and claimed he would cancel my booking. His behaviour was completely unprofessional and shocking, leaving me stranded in Eastbourne and scrambling to find alternative accommodation at the last minute. The hotel itself is run-down and feels abandoned. The restaurant and bar areas are barricaded from outside with rubbish around and look nothing like the photos online. To make matters worse, after I reported the incident to the online booking agents the hotel falsely claimed that I refused to stay when in fact it was their staff who refused to accommodate me. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in or outside the UK. It is unprofessional, dishonest, and in terrible condition. I’ve reported the incident to the online booking agent, including photos to prove the state of the property. Avoid this place at all costs—Eastbourne is a lovely town, but this hotel will ruin your trip.
