Terrible food and a sticky table. Food was very poor and sloppy. Not executed well, it felt like a dining gastro experience 20 years ago and a bad one at that. However, the staff were very nice and tried to offer us an alternative meal. It was our first lunch out in a while so we came away feeling a bit cheated.

Lovely friendly staff, I had the pie which was OK but nothing special. I think I made the wrong choice as my friends fish and chips looked delicious.

Try the rack of ribs. A huge plateful of ribs chips and coleslaw. The linguine was good as well.

The food was well presented and tasty. Good selection of beer price is not too bad for down South lol Staff brilliant 👏 aimed to please.

For the second time in less than twelve months I’ve had a terrible experience at this establishment. After voicing my feedback to the owner the first time round, he managed to redeem himself. And so I visited with friends to celebrate my birthday back in June, but once again was left feeling extremely disappointed…….had the chowder of which was like a fish pie gone wrong (extremely dry with no sauce to it). One of my friends had a steak that was full of fat, and two friends had a curry served up in bowls with the curry just piled up on top of the rice. I have tried contacting the manager to discuss the issues, yet have heard nothing.

Certainly one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne! Every dish we tried in our at least 10 visits in the last 3 years in our summer holiday was just perfect.

We used the function room upstairs to throw a party for 80+ people following our wedding. The buffet provided was really lovely food. The staff were excellent throughout from the planning through to the event. Our guest had a wonderful time and all rated the venue highly. The following day my wife and I popped back and had the Sunday roast which again was superb. We love this place and would highly recommend.

Visited my brother in Eastbourne last weekend. I suggested we go somewhere he had never been before. Wow, made a call to book a table. On arrival we were meet by the guy we spoke to on the phone and seated straight away. Great service, food and atmosphere. Highly recommend you visit, do not give this place a miss👍🙏.

Would highly recommend the bottomless brunch, amazing menu and drinks that aren’t watered down.

3 of us went for bottomless brunch, service was amazing. Food was brilliant and so were the choices of drinks. The cocktails weren’t watered down like you find with a lot of bottomless brunch places. We will be back!

A 70th Birthday celebration meal! Was fantastic. The only thing was the aircon wasn't working and it got uncomfortably warm in there. Having the doors open created a draft to the people sitting nearby.

No sticky pub tables here I chose squid starter and risotto main, both utterly delicious... didn't go for roast as the Yorkshires are ( not my thing) huge and looked very dark. Accommodated a table change with kindness. Too full for desert drinks reasonable. Table and cutlery clean Staff adorable

Had my 70th birthday bash here today and Bibendum did me proud. Great food and ,excellent service. I would thoroughly recommend it. Thank you so much for making my day so special xx 😘

We enjoyed a delicious roast dinner with enormous Yorkshire puddings, a selection of vegetables cooked 'al-dente' resulting in a very enjoyable meal. The pub was very busy as England were playing their first match in the Euros, there was quite a buzzy atmosphere and it felt friendly. We were greeted quickly and professionally before entering the restaurant and our drink and food order was taken without too much of a delay even though it was busy. The portion size of the roast dinner is large which is great when you are hungry. We've eaten here a few times and each time we've enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, certainly somewhere we shall return to in the future.

The roasts just have to be sampled! We went for father's day and 3 of us had roast beef whilst our son had bangers and mash. The roast was commented on by my wife that it's probably the best roast she had had out. That's a big claim as she does an awesome roast at home. The honey and chocolate cheesecake to follow was simply devine. The staff were really attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We will be coming back to try the lamb and the seafood chowder. 🤤 Book as it's not massive inside and gets busy.

First time eating here today. On father's Day- heard so much about the great food needed to try it out. Definitely didn't disappoint. For a busy day like fathers day we were expecting something to go wrong. Service outstanding. Food amazing so much flavour and so fresh. Can't wait to go again try different dishes out. Well done for all round great experience.

Very friendly staff, delicious food, dog friendly. We enjoyed a lovely early dinner. I have coeliac disease, which can be problematic but the staff were very knowledgeable. The food was lovely. We have 2 dogs and they were made to feel very welcome too.

We had a phenomenal Sunday lunch here, even though they were busy they managed to fit us in. The atmosphere in the restaurant area is a mix of a gentle hussle and bustle of a busy restaurant but still intimate enough to talk, service was attentive but not overbearing. The food was outstanding, I have never seen a Yorkshire pudding that big. The lamb was cooked perfectly as were the vegetables, it was a fantastic plate of food they was great value. I spoke with the chef to thank him, I’d recommend Paul’s roast dinner to anyone. We will definitely be returning!

I liked it. It's a gastro pub and they live up to their name. I ordered olives and a cheese board, they were tasty. The staff is very friendly. Atmosphere is like in a gastro pub, high ceilings. They are situated in front of old town hall(Roth House) . They have seating outdoors as well. Dog friendly, with dogs you can only stay in the bar area. It was quite busy when I visited on Wednesday night.

Came here for the ploughman's lunch and stayed for the atmosphere as well, lovely staff and array of alcohol at the bar. Highly recommend!

We hadn't booked and our table was right by the serving hatch, but it was early evening and comparatively quiet. We took up the 2 meals for £25 offer on selected dishes and the pies of the day were good, but would have been better if the pastry wasn't burnt. They were however very tasty. Service charge was stated to be discretionary, but nevertheless 10% was added to the bill.

Went to enjoy Paula's & guests, St Wilfreds Hospice Charity 🌙 night....it was a great evening & the upstairs venue was lovely, nicely decorated & plenty of seating, with splendid entertainment. 🥂

Lovely staff lovely atmosphere.. excited to see a seafood chowder on the menu which myself and my friend both ordered …smelt delicious but was not like a chowder I’ve ever had , swimming in oil lots of diced potato, carrots and peas but hardly any seafood, salmon and ? Haddock only … not a clam or prawn to be seen! I wouldn’t normally write a review as it was actually quite tasty but for £17 an absolute rip off !!!

Had booked a table of 4 for Sunday lunch and dog. Was told we’d have a table in the bar as dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant area. Had a nice warm welcome, and a bowl of water brought for the dog without asking which is always a big plus. Friendly, cheerful and attentive staff who took food and drink orders pretty swiftly. Food wait was fine. Very enjoyable and tasty Sunday lunch (roast beef, roast chicken, gammon and a linguine was ordered). Extra gravy without asking. The food was excellent and four empty plates followed. Only criticism is the food wasn’t very hot, nor was the gravy which was a little disappointing but didn’t spoil the experience. Would def return again.

What a find this place is. The food was superb but the menu pleasantly understated. Its better to under promise an over deliver on occasion and this place does... pay it a visit if you want something reasonable but nice. Thanks Drew and team we loved it.

Lamb roast is good (make sure to ask for mint sauce) and yorkshire is massive. Tiramisu for dessert is quite good as well A great spot for eastbourne :) One app + 2 guinness + 2 mains + dessert came out to £70 with the service charge (10%)

Highly recommended! Our favourite pub on the south coast. Drew & his crew do an amazing job making you feel like you’ve entered your best friends for a great lunch or fabulous evening. Great atmosphere with tasty food, great beers & always a friendly face. Always worth a visit.

Had a lovely Sunday roast here, massive Yorkshire puddings, can choose a mix of meats, lovely veg and roast potatoes. My favourite meat was the turkey, so succulent and tender. Unfortunately, extra gravy is an added cost, which I don't agree with, but overall the meal was lovely. Definitely worth a try for food.

I visited here for the first time, a really friendly barman, and took orders at our table. We didn't eat here but would definitely like to try it. Nice warm atmosphere. Will return.

Ness provided us with the most efficient service she handled the evening, all on her own, and still made the evening comfortable and relaxed she was very friendly and nothing was too much. I highly recommend the food and service at bibendums

Our 4th visit and still as great as the first. Staff friendly, professional and hardworking. Food always great. Please remember to look at the specials board you may be presently surprised.

Normally a good service here, but purchased a couple of drinks found an empty table sat down. Then quite rudely a lady popped a reserved sign on the table and said you’ve got to go by this time as table booked.

We googled the best roastie in Eastbourne and Bibendum was top of the list. The staff had excellent customer service and the food was top notch. They also did half portions. Win win!!! Lovely experience. Highly recommended.

Really great and original to paint your pub “battleship grey”! Wonder where you got this idea from? Love when all the pubs, cafés and restaurants are painting their façade the colour of miserable weather and leaded petrol pollution - it's just so beautiful!

Friday night in December and it was absolutely packed so I had my reservations. That said, the service, food and atmosphere was absolutely faultless. Highly recommended.

Cold. No Christmas menu or decorations. Steak pie wasn't a pie. Just steak in a dish with small pastry top. Bannofi pie expensive and no banana in it. Wouldn't recommend. No atmosphere and very disappointing

Not a bad lunch from a Crystal Palace supporter. Food took a while to come but was worth waiting for. Plus he gave me a free pint because of the wait! Staff were friendly. Beer was nice and cold.

Absolutely amazing food and 5* service, drew and his team went above and beyond to make visit the best it could possibly be . Out for our annual Christmas shopping trip followed by drinks and food at our favourite place.. thank you once again.

we wanted to hold a wake in Eastbourne and found Bibendum by chance online. What an absolute gem!We booked the function room upstairs... The booking process was super easy with Heidi always on call to answer any questions. All the staff were super friendly and helpful too and laid out the room beautifully for us. We had a full buffet with hot and cold delicious food.We had our own manned bar plus drinks on arrival all pre-organised. Very smooth operation from start to finish..nothing was too much trouble! So a huge thanks to all the staff at Bibendum for making a stressful day into such a very special day- love from all the family xx

I really don’t know how their roast has so many good reviews because mine was awful. Huge burnt inedible Yorkshire pudding, dry unseasoned meat, bland vegetables and soggy roast potatoes. The service was good just shame about the food.

Outstanding Sunday roast. You can’t not be wowed / slightly intimidated by the extraordinary Yorkshire pudding that comes with it - it’s roughly the size of a football. The meats were fine (we each tried the beef, chicken and pork), if a little dry - but was solved by the gravy, which was delicious, and we ordered extra boats of it. The roasts also come with lots of vegetables. We were way too full for dessert, but they sounded amazing. They even had a vegan cheesecake for my lactose-intolerant friend! Service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was perfect for a lively gastropub. Some of the photos on Google look old-fashioned and they don’t do it justice, it’s actually a charming pub dining room.

A gem. Good beer selection. Real ale was in excellent condition. Burger was top. Only problem was lack of room for dessert, which looked amazing. The bill was surprisingly low so perhaps the staff could be paid more.

We visited yesterday after recently moving to the area. Every restaurant we visited so far have have underwhelmed, until now. Food was of a great standard with large portions to boot. This was only surpassed by the attentive service. Lovely waiting staff. Free parking after 6pm. Definitely returning.

We have visited many times. Just for a drink and also eat and do like the Bibendum but on this visit we all (4 of us) left thinking that would be the last time we visit to eat. We had 4 x Roast Beef, it looked very impressive with massive Yorkshires but that is where the good finished. The Beef was so over cooked and tough, it was really not good to eat. The gravy also lacked any flavour and was thin. The two main parts of a roast are the meat and gravy and both were well below previous Bibendum offerings We did mention this to our server who said she would pass our concerns to the Chef. Another thing that we noticed when paying the bill, we were charged an extra 75p after asking for extra gravy !! All in all it was not a good meal along with very patchy service , very disappointing.

Had a few Sunday roasts here. Always been very good. Today unfortunately was awful. We all had the beef which was tough as old boots and all the dinners were barely warm. We did mention this to the waitress and she said she’d tell the chef. No apologies or offers of reduction at all. We had to approach the bar 3 times to order more drinks!! No one came near us for nearly an hour!! Very bad service. Unfortunately today’s experience has totally put us off. The chefs need to care more about what they’re putting out there. And staff need to be more attentive. Shame!!!

Efficient service, decent tasty portions & a cracking vibe. It is a town centre restaurant-bar, so naturally busy on a Saturday. I find it baffling that people are complaining about it being too busy; surely that is what you want? And its great to see considering this place Im sure is an independent venue! The bar was busy, yet the staff team are encouraged to still do table service; something many venues only did during Covid-times, but this place has it to a tee. Food took about 20-30 minutes to come out, but is clearly cooked to order & what you would expect for a fresh food kitchen, which they advertise. Ive eaten here a few times, all have been excellent. But having seen some of the reviews recently, felt I had to write something. Keep it up Bibendum!

This place kind of blew me away a little bit. I dropped a close friend home/here and I must say the bar/pub/restaurant really captures the ever so fine blend of mixing the old world with the new! The atmosphere was insane, so relaxing and chill whilst being cheeky and mischievous at the same time!! The staff literally are the best and they clearly give a damn about what they do!! It was soo clean and warming andd the bossman Drew really digs his job! There talking about wines and cocktails and EVERYTHING else because there always thinking and being intuitive and inventing new great drink mixing concoctions which we got to try!! 👀👀😋 Lou is the queen!! We went to bibendium for a works leaving event and had a great time. Food was excellent and the staff great. I would highly recommend anyone to visit this place.

Food was indifferent. Wife had ploughman's which she enjoyed . My son had fish n chips. Very oily. Batter overdone . Chips over done . I had pie . Pastry baked to an inch of its life and again chips over done . Infact if I think they may have been oven chips . Disappointing 😞

Brilliant pub and restaurant lots of options and great fair prices!!

Fine food, just as it says on the outside. The gastropub is quite large and has a great atmosphere to it. The dining area is separate too, which I think makes dining have more of a restaurant feel to it. The service was top-notch and very attentive. They just need to work on their homemade ketchup - it was a bit strange do we ended up ordering those mini ketchup packets for our chips instead.

Recommend to come here, can not fault the staff, service or the food. Will definitely be back.

Very disappointed with Bibendum. Service was good, if a little slow, but my "Spicy Chilli Jacket Potato" was poor. Large potato on a small plate with a very small amount of Chilli (just over a tablespoon I would think)) and it was completely bland - no spice or heat al all. Sour cream was minimal too. IF, and it's a big IF, I return, I will certainly never visit on a Saturday afternoon as it was so noisy I had to shout to be heard and of course would avoid the jacket potatoes!!! Maybe other food items are better but I have my doubts.

Having a few drinks on a table just had a reserved sign put on the table giving us 2 minutes notice wow!!!

Just Avoid- I think this used to be a good place to eat and it’s still ok for a drink but I would not eat here again. The tables are sticky the menus look dirty the service is slow and when we ordered for 6...

The prawn linguini was cold and when we complained they simply heated it up in the microwave rather than remaking it, ruining the dish. The tap water was brown (not sure how that even happens) and the dishes were delivered 15 minutes apart from each other so we couldn’t eat at the same time. When complaining at the end and asking if it were possible to have a slight discount for the poor service, the waitress stated “well I did say sorry” rather than attempting to make it right. However we did eventually get a discount. Although still wouldn’t eat here again.

Food was flavoursome...Good sized portions and well presented. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely go there again.
