Toby Carvery in East Staffordshire

Absolutely brilliant and the young person who I believe is called HOLLI was very courteous and really helpful. The service and food especially on a very busy Easter Sunday was excellent. We will definitely be coming here in burton again.

Love going at the weekend to enjoy the Lamb. Great quality food and lovely veg options you wont find at other places. Friendly service. Recommended to book. Soft drinks on tap which can be helpful.

my wife and i went to the pub as we usually do on a Sunday lunchtime. we found a table in the pub side and proceeded to enjoy our first drink when a waitress started to put down napkins, i told her we wasn't eating and her reply was 'we might need this table as we are really busy' apologized again and walked off, not 5 minutes later a barman came ove and said we had to move as he needed the table for people eating, i said that where we we sitting was the pub side only to be told 'not today as we are really busy' and asked us to move. They clearly had over booked the restaurant as there were latterly no tables left i tried to explain i had paid for our drinks and wanted to sit down as i have terminal cancer but no apology nothing, so we drank up and will not be returning to a pub that docent care about anything but profit absolutely disgusting.

We visited our local Toby last night with our family. My daughter is introducing her son to eating out. As he has sensory problems he is panicked by busy places. When she booked she explained and asked for a quiet place to eat. From the moment we arrived all the staff were excellent very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Our meals were delicious, piping hot and we all enjoyed it. Would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff who made our visit a success, especially for our little boy.

I had the carvery. Excellent presentation of the food options at the. Counter. The quality of the food was outstanding. The service at check-in and check out was simple. I left full and very satisfied

When we arrived we were shown to a little booth which would seat 4 comfortably. We were 6 adults ! Ridiculous. We were told we should have put 'no booth' when booking - but how would we know that when none of us had ever been before ? It took a full 10 minutes to decide to push 3 tables together and then the woman in charge said she wanted the table back in an hour !! I told her there was no chance of that. After that the drinks service from a young waitress was excellent and the food was lovely - the beef was slightly overcooked but not too bad. We enjoyed the meal and we were there 2 hours - nothing was said. Seriously you cannot put 6 grown adults in a little booth - 4 adults and 2 children would struggle. I would suggest that Toby Carvery Burton changes its numbers to just seat 4 in a booth.

Took our grandchildren for dinner after school and we had a lovely meal. Food was fresh and tasty not overcooked as some carvery meals can be. The staff as usual were very friendly and helpful.

Car park comes with £100 charge parking in what you believe to be the Toby car park. You expect it to be free. Disgusted the Toby staff do not warn customers of the charge. Makes me feel like it is not in their interests to tell you. Very disappointed and will never return again. Keep doing it Toby and you will lose more customers. I have used Toby around the country many times but never again.

Whilst the food was, as always, delicious, the chef was both rude and un-interested in his work. When we walked to the counter for him to carve the meat, he just stood there and looked at us. I asked if i could have a yorkshire pudding he sighed and stared at them, before eventually putting one on my plate. I then asked for some turkey since he didn't seem to know what to do next and required prompting, there wasn't much left and he stood and stared at it for a while, i guess deciding on if he should fetch a new one. He didn't. He carved up a few paltry slices containing a lot of fat, so not overly pleasant. I moved on to the vegetables section and there was 2 options of potatoes, one was pretty much empty and the carrot pot was also empty. He made no move to replace them or comment to say more were coming. When he served my wife, he did the same he did for me, seemed spaced out and unaware of what his job was. When my wife asked for all 4 meats, he asked her a question about the turkey, neither of us understood what it was, but he replied "yes" and again he sighed and went to get a new turkey. We guess he was trying to get her to change her mind about the turkey as he didn't want to bother fetching a new one. The service from other staff members was great, but this chef, some young looking kid was the worst i've ever experienced at a toby's.

We travel a 60 mile round trip for this Toby because we love it. No less than 5 choices of meat and about 20 different veg. Friendly staff. Good quality and value. What is there not to like.

Very disappointed, overall carvery was Luke warm, tasteless, stodgy, overcooked and zero value for money. My husband queried the Bacardi. It was supposed to have been a birthday treat for his 67th birthday, what a let down, I feel so disappointed for him and in his own words “my wife can cook far better than this” Would we recommend Toby Carvery the answer is NO and will we come again the answer is NEVER. What a waste of over £40.

Had a great visit with my niece and nephew delicious carveries plenty of veg to choose from and superb puddings from Jack and prompt service by our waitress Sharon.

Superb carvery on Easter Sunday. 5 meats, every veg you can think of. Piled out plates high. Delicious. Great service. For a great carvery you can’t fault it. Easy to get to off the A38 with loads of parking.

Booked for 10.30am x2 couples, arrived at 10.15am and a queue at till to book in which wasn't a big issue but it was 10.30 by the time we paid and was told to sit wherever we wanted, then what I guess was the manager came to the till and told the lady not to take anymore people as they weren't putting anymore food out... I obviously heard this and went to look at the food left, with 11 people queueing to get food and the dishes virtually empty I went back to the bar and asked for a refund saying you've just taken out money knowing there's a queue with no more food coming out what was the point,? Got told sorry "we had a table of 15 came in" which is totally irrelevant as it's still 15 people whether on one table or five,..... Manager came and didn't say a word of apology just asked me to present my card... Now it'll take 5 days for my refund and as I checked my receipt the refund was £18.59, the money taken was £19.62, okay not a big difference but still wrong, so not good service at all in more ways than one, walked out at 10.40am so not too late to have run out, bad management that can't apologise for their bad planning.....

Great breakfast, staff very friendly nothing to much trouble, great value for money plenty to choose from can get busy at weekends but you can book online.

Purpose built restaurant with no bar/waiting area. We arrived early and were told impolitely to come back later as there was no waiting area. There is nowhere around to go so we waited in the cars. The tables inside were tightly packed. Our table was situated by the toilets and drinks machine so we were constantly bumped. The menu says there are gluten free options which suggests choice and alternatives but actually meant ‘go without the trimmings’ making it a very limited meal for the price. The peas were rock hard. Would not recommend for anyone, especially coeliacs. A week notice requesting gf from a place that only does roast dinners was very disappointing to find they can’t be bothered.

I came in for lunch today around 11-12 sat at I think table 28 and from what I can only assume was another member of staff, female I’m thinking in her 40’s arguing with a young lad in chef uniform at the bar area. She seemed quite agitated, really snappy and high rated as she could be heard all throughout the restaurant which I think is very unprofessional! Having ago at your staff in the restaurant is disrespectful towards the staff member himself and the guests who are eating and it is wrong on so many levels, the issue should have been dealt with professionally in private not where every guest who visits can hear! The young lad walked off in the end looked like he was in tears bless him, I hope she’s happy with herself for making another staff member cry In front of a whole restaurant when it could have been dealt with in a private and professional manner! All I wanted to do was eat my food in peace and all I got was an earful of rage, it put me off!!!

We bought a Groupon deal for Toby Carvery at £29.99 for 2 adults and 2 children. We booked at this branch as we were travelling back home from Manchester that evening and it is a nice halfway mark and break for children and us to eat dinner. We were seated. A waiter then came along to take drinks orders and I then informed him that we are on a. groupon deal. He brought over a Groupon/Wowcher menu that we can order from. Nowhere on this menu it stated it’s for adults only nor did the waiter point out that children should be ordering from a different menu - we were given the Groupon menu and so thought this was the menu to order from! Luckily I queried if ours included a third course as our Groupon stated 2 course. When I asked he said it’s for three courses! I asked again and that’s when he said he will go confirm. We could have easily ordered a third course and would have been charged for this at the end. So be ware that the menu they give you is not very clear! When we payed, our bill came to £36 outstanding (this after the £29.99 Groupon was taken off). We queried this and it turned out that we owed £36 for 4 soft drinks and two adult desserts. When the waiter came around to order the desserts he should have pointed out to us that the children should order from another menu. We would not have bought them the adult sized desserts if we had known this but because that was the menu that was given to us, we assumed it was for all. No where on the menu did it state adults only! They had a kids roast as at the counter you are given the option of kids plate or adult plate so obviously we went for kids plate. If this was made clear at dessert order, we would have bought kids dessert. The manager was very adamant that we were wrong and had to pay the £36. He kept saying the ice creams will affect his stock take and we thought the whole argument was extremely petty over two ice creams. At the end of it all we asked him to add on two kids puddings to the bill and guess what? The price came down by £10!! That’s by adding food to our bill. We understand how it works that once you enter the Groupon onto the system you cannot reverse it but at no point did the manager think to do this, we had to suggest this to him. It very much felt like a money making con and for that reason, please do check what menu you are given and question things before ordering. We were expecting to only pay for drinks on top ! Not two extra puddings too. Very petty and restaurant should have just let slip on the two ice creams! No big deal but it spoilt our whole experience for us and the children! Never again and that’s why you get 1 star! Awful way to end our nice day out.

We dropped in here for breakfast whilst in the area. It was a buffet style breakfast with all the usual suspects but one added suprise…. Drum roll please…. YORKSHIRE PUDDING !! Now I don’t know if that was because it was a Sunday but it was certainly an interesting addition and lovely filled with beans !!! For the price it’s great value !

On 11th January 2024 my wife and I took our daughter to Toby Carvery for lunch. Our roast dinners and sweets were excellent and very good value for money and the customer service we received was very good, but lacking one very important ingredient. We do not live in Burton, but visit the town every third week throughout the year to take our daughter, who lives in a care home here, out for a meal and a visit to the shops. We have dined at your restaurant at least four times during last year and parked in exactly the same disabled bay, closest to the main entrance (as I am an above knee amputee and Blue Badge holder) and enjoyed all our visits. Unfortunately, today (24 January 2024) I received a Parking Charge Notice of £100 from Euro Car Parks with photographs of my car and exact details of when I entered the car park on 11/01/2024 at 12:25:38 and exited it at 13:40:10 (1hr 15m). I assumed (obviously wrongly) that parking was free and certainly have never seen signage to indicate otherwise. I read with interest other reviews from your customers who have also been caught out by this, and would have thought that as part of the meet and greet procedure, diners would be informed (or reminded) that they will need to register their vehicles registration details at a machine in the car park before ordering food. It is with regret therefore, that we will not be returning to your restaurant in the future.

Friendly staff and food is always good, fresh, hot and can have as much as you like. The brownie is my go to pudding as well.

Beautiful meal, we had an awful experience on Christmas day at another venue and wished we had booked here, so straight after Christmas we came here twice . No complaints what so ever. This is one of the nicest Toby's I've been to. Its clean, has nice ambiance, and the food is always tasty and fresh. Its also quite healthy. Will never get tired of their roasts and fresh veg.
