Toby Carvery in Gravesham

Food was amazing, see a lot of people here moaning about wait times but if you go at a busy time, you can see how many people are queueing for the carvery it's about common sense. We went at a quiet time for lunch and it was lovely

We have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant!. The latest experience, let us down is all the aspects. We started queueing the carvery display to see that the only meat available was turkey and a few portions or beef, gammon, and pork. The guy at the carvery looked embarrassed too, having many customers asking the same question, if any more meat was replacing the leftover. Had our dinner, trying to enjoy the time anyway, and when we asked for the bill, we thought that a piece of feedback would have helped the management to improve the experience. The waiter dumped a pile of dirty plates on our table while she took the card payment, and after having shared the feedback, she just laughed straight in our face without saying a word!!! Sorry Toby at Gravesend, but I don't think we will come back.

We booked late so not sure if there would be much left. Was totally surprised by everything as it was full of fresh food and an amazing selection of meats. Gammon,pork , turkey,beef and lamb. 2 different roast potatoes and the best selection of veg and sides I've seen in many years. Clean tidy and staff couldn't have been more friendly. We were a group of 4.

I've always been a fan of a carvery, and Toby does a better job than most. This is a relatively new build restaurant to most that I have been in before. Great food with a decent choice.

Staff were friendly but weren't informing people that their machine for topping up drinks wasn't working which created a long delay for one of our party.

Milena was absolutely wonderful, beautiful service and the food was so good. It was Sunday so busy but she made sure that we had everything. Definitely coming back

The waiting staff here are superb BUT Toby and the management team are asking far too much of them ! We were waiting an age after our main course to order a dessert and so were those around us, in fact to the extent customers paid and left without ordering dessert. The food was not overly hot but the selection was really good. To summarise, one additional member of waiting staff would have made an incredible impact for My wife and I and those we were speaking to in the immediate area.

Food was excellent but the premises was a bit run down and could do with a refurbishment.

Milena is an outstanding member of the Toby team and has consistently been so since we have been visiting the Toby over the last several years. She goes above and beyond her duty and clearly loves her job, we look forward to seeing her upon every visit.

We went to the Toby carvery at northfleet today and we could not fault the food and service we will be going back there in the very near future

After a late finish at work on December 1st, decided to get two takeaway roasts via Just Eat. It was a disappointing experience, and not for the first time. We bought two roast dinners and paid extra for pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and gravy, none of these paid for extras were provided. We tried to call the restaurant, - no answer. We tried via the website, which was now displaying 'closed'. We tried Just Eat, and their info@ address just bounced our message back saying this mailbox is no longer managed. Very helpful. Then it suggested contacting Just Eat via their help page, but the link didn't work. The only link that did appear to work (but was of no use) was the one for their partners to contact them. I called Toby again the next day via the number on the website, again no answer. This is probably the third time I have ordered in this way, and each time I pray that it is going to be better than the last, but it never is. I will not be trying roast deliveries again, as it is just so disappointing. Not just because they keep leaving bits of the order out, but mainly because there is no-one that you can speak to easily, to get it put right. Whilst you are faffing around trying to reach someone, the rest of the food is spoiling. Four stars, because the food we actually did get, (although very dry), was quite nice. One star for the service, which was virtually non-existent. Once the food has left the restaurant, you are on your own. No helpline.........nothing! Must try harder!

Fantastic fresh food, hot and plenty of it

Food and service was great. The toilets and eating area need cleaning and some TLC and hence the lower score.

I turned up at the Toby carvery doors at 8:50pm and online I was clearly shown that the restaurant closes at 10pm. The doors were locked and we proceeded to call the restaurant and they did in fact say they were closed an hour before stated online. I am unhappy and one less carvery full.

Really good for roast dinner would advise to book.

Don't understand why The Toby didn't accept my Armed forces discount card today The waitress said I needed a voucher but couldn't find it on the site.The card should have been adequate as it says.im an army veteran.It wasn't clear you needed a voucher and a discount card.Your reply does not answer my question, why is an Armed Forces discount cardnnot good enough

Quite for this time of year but staff were lovely. Yummy food.

Food is normally very good, but went to first sitting today 12 pm. Almost first in the queue, so saw turkey when it was brought out for serving and it wasn’t browned as normal. The person in front of me had the turkey and it did look okay and was a white colour. So I thought it would be okay, and ordered the turkey. I have really bad diarrhoea, and that was the only thing I ate today. Am sure it was the turkey that was the reason. They did have a notice up to at the front door that there was people off sick that day. Perhaps the person cooking didn’t get the timing right . People beware if staff are off sick, the people standing in may make mistakes

Was not impressed at all. Turning people away before 9 pm staff loading up food to take home while people still eating. Chef didn’t want to serve us . Not a good experience and waste of money

Pretty awful dining. The restaurant was busy which wasn't the issue however it took 20 for our starters to come. No gluten free starter options or bread to go with my prawn cocktail which is a shame because they are happy to provide for the vegetarians and vegans. This is not right, being gluten free is not a choice but medical reason so do better! The main carvery only had gluten free gravy which to be honest was pretty awful. The beef was ok but the potatoes could have been used as weapons and the peas were so hard they were impossible to eat. On the whole not worth the money and the food wasnt very nice. Obviously couldnt stay for pudding because the vegans got their options but not the people who couldn't eat gluten. Will not be going again, there are better carverys around.

Went with all the family for the breakfast with Father Christmas on Saturday 14th December and it was excellent. The staff were so helpful and friendly and Father Christmas was amazing! The food was also excellent. We came last year and will definitely come again. Thank you!

Not been here for a while. We have a daughter (2yr old) with allergies. Manager looked after us great, we were offered the option of help ourselves or they would prepare fresh from product still in the kitchen. Great to see guest with allergens being managed in such a professional non fussy way. High praise indeed to the team. And little legs had a good go at her meal

Absolutely disgraceful we booked a table for 2 for 5.10pm at still waiting half hour later people coming in after us that had booked for a later time and also tables for 2 were going in before. When we spoke to the manager was told I’m just reading from the computer. There was no apology nothing will not be going there again!!

We come for breakfast with Santa and was blown away by the experience. The whole family enjoyed it. Well done Santa. Memory made.

The food was cold, the beef was incredibly overcooked and tough, even the yorkshires were tough - my children couldn't cut them and I struggled! The portions of meat somewhat small.

Crap, utter rubbish food. It's expensive for the quality it is. They are serving takeaways while we're trying to get our dinner. So by the time I'd finished mine, my wife had just got to the table. Fantastic...not

Milena was very friendly great service

I have just visited Toby Carvery Gravesend and the food was absolutely disgusting. The starter was supposed to be garlic bread, but what came to me on a plate was 2 tiny bits of bread with garlic sprinkle over it . Then the main course which we helped ourselves which first came Yorkshire pudding stone cold, roasted potatoes i could not cut and were overcooked. Vegetables were fairly good and gravy was warm not hot. Dessert was good. We have been to breakfast before this visit and that was worse than the carvery. There was 16 of us and we will not be recommending to anyone to go there. The waiting staff were excellent and very helpful, polite plus nothing was too much trouble.

Quite noisy with screaming children.

Food i paid for couldn't be taken away in a box which has never been an issue at any other toby carvery. I just wanted to share what I had left over with a dog I rescued who was malnourished and needed the extra calories. So I will ask, what do you do with wasted food when I wanted to put it to good use???

Could not give these guys a higher rating! Every single staff member was super accommodating and friendly but Gabby was an absolute super star and made my entire festive season! She went above and beyond to accommodate our huge group and I cannot express how much it meant to us. We had a wonderful evening sitting all together thanks to Gabby. You are the best!! <3

it wasn't delivered to my address!!! NO ORDER RECEIVED!!!

Ordered delivery, paid for extra Yorkshire Puddings. Waited over an hour and then they didn’t send the Yorkshire puddings and the meat was all fat and gristle and totally inedible, they basically scraped all the junk off the carving board into the pot. Also sent all the hard peas and manky carrots and left off the best bits. Basically paid £28 for gristle, and manky veg.

I went there as part of a large group, and, despite the fact that we were eating at their busiest time, the staff were amazing. Being a large group we had pre-ordered our choices (a very good idea, as it turned out), so started, desserts and alternatives to the seasonal carvery were ready in good time. The food was delicious, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly or efficient. We go there on other occasions, too, and the welcome, service, and delicious food is always there. Thank you to the manager, front of house team, chef and kitchen crew. We probably won’t get in this side of Christmas (I suspect you are fully booked), so have a wonderful Christmas!

We booked for 5 people to eat fairly late in the evening so it wasn't very busy, it was after the expected dinner rush. This also meant that parking was okay, you obviously get poor parking from some folks but there were plenty of spaces. This is not true at peak times or when the nearby hotel is full. On entering we did have an independent delivery driver push through the family unit, not roughly at all but there wasn't an opportunity to move ourselves out the way, no huge fuss (we are British 'donchaknow') but it was a little disruptive before the meal. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly in a booth, our orders were taken (carvery thanks) and asked if we'd been before (yes) to confirm we knew what was what. The table service in general was great, enough contact to feel served but not intrusive (thank you Elliott). We did have to wait a couple of minutes for the carver/server to turn up (another staff member went and found them) - doesn't seem a long time on paper but milling around at the time it felt quite a while. The meat selection was good, it was cooked well, and the portions were a decent size, the self served additions (mainly veg) were plentiful and okay. Obviously I took too much. Considering the sides were sat under hot lights in bulk they were good, if it had been served fresh (as at home) you'd feel some of it was a little over done. No labels on the different gravy pots and assumed the options were the same. Ate and drank more then we really needed, paid quickly and left. All took about an hour. The people here were lovely the food was okay, the place is starting to feel well used but absolutely fine. We didn't pay a huge amount but we did use a 50% off food voucher - keep an eye out!

Beef was fatty and gristly, the meals ordered of the menu didn't come while everyone was eating the carvery so cancelled rather than eat after everyone else. The chocolate pancakes were cold doughy and as for the Cadbury chocolate flake sprinkles, I counted 2 little tiny pieces, altogether it was very disappointing wouldn't recommend at all.

Having to change my review of this establishment. We went to visit again, and when we left, there were rats at the back of the premises where the air con was. When we called to inform them, they did not seem concerned and called them animals when, in fact, they are Vermin.

AVOID THIS RAT INFESTED RESTAURANT. Reported to management rats entering their rear outer premises from the storm drain on the edge of the car park. 3 rat runs, 2 running straight under the fence to the (i presume) outside fridge storage, and one run straight under the gate. Witnessed rats going back and forth from the drain to their premises. Management did not seem concerned of this saying about animals living in vegetation... would clasify RATS as VERMIN AND A HEALTH RISK. Have reported this issue to gravesham council. Worrying that the management did not seem concerned about the vermin, so what other hygiene issues are within the restaurant and kitchen? We will not be returning to this restaurant again and I advise anyone with a booking to think again.

Was ok overall. Not much meat but ok on the whole. Nicely packaged and driver was polite and on time. Would order again.

Friendly staff but breakfast was so oily, Food was cold , overcooked and NO toast as toaster blew up apparently . Totally disappointed. Was my birthday breakfast.

Good value for money. Definitely recommend booking prior to visiting. Wheelchair friendly. Lovely menu and options as well.

The beef was really tough this time, they can't help this though, but the veg was below par, no hash! their shout about item and veg selection is much smaller Looking forward to better next time .

I Gave the breakfast another try and myself and my daughter didn't like it. She didn't like the bacon, not many options, fried eggs were awful. Had much better elsewhere!

We had a wonderful experience at this venue today. Our waitress Milena, made our experience entirely. We couldn’t have asked for more attentive service. Nothing was too much trouble, we will come back based solely on the level of service we received. The food was ok, not particularly warm but there was certainly a lot on offer. The turkey Yorkshire club wrap was a lovely menu item too. Puddings were ok, the sponge was a bit dry and hard but for us service was impeccable.

Lovely service with lots of attention from Milena. Always working with a smile. Food was also nice albeit the Veg Melt was a bit deflated.

Chef was brilliant, we had the carvery and went bigger with the xl plates for an extra 1.99 each,we wanted 2 large Yorkshire puddings and room for our veg. I opted for roast pork only ,there was a bowl with chrispy crackling peices for you to add yourself, beef dripping roast potatoes, you had a choice of 3 different flavour roast potatoes and 4 roast meats plus 2 chipolatas ,pork ,beef, turkey and gammon to choose from.the was a choice of veg Inc peas carrots ect..i had mash potatoes and button Brussels I would have had cabbage and cauliflower but the option available was red cabbage and cauliflower cheese im not a lover of ither sorry so I left those off my plate probably a good thing I was stuffed ,my only fault was my food was warm and not as hot as i would have liked it and our table was tiny .but we finished and only left a couple of roast potatoes, we all throughly enjoyed it and would definitely return ,we got seated without a booking .staff were excellent even when we had problems with the card machine ,we had refillable glasses for the sodas also and were so stuffed after the main meal we couldn't manage afters lol ,does get busy this was 3 oclk on a rainy sataday afternoon ,so maybe telephone first ,seats were filled up when we arrived but was fairly quiet as we were leaving not sure what time they closed, but for a good tasty roast and good price check it out enjoy xx

I highly recommend It. Everything there is 6⭐. I had a breakfast a few times in previous holidays and nothing changes. The pancakes are always delicious.

The food was mainly fresh but we received no service. I had to ask for cutlery and we weren't checked on once even after that until we finally managed to get someone's attention to ask for the bill. They had been busy previously, but it had calmed down by then.

Food was ok. Seated and offered the 2 course menu, all going well. Bill comes up and charged full price. Queried with the waitress and then it was down hill from there. Let's just say our waitress Heather needs to learn some manners. She needs reminding she works in hospitality not hostility!

Very crowded and busy but food was really good. Just not a place to sit and relax. I feel like I need to eat and leave.

They don't have any delivery drivers so use Just Eat's and had to wait 2 hours for the delivery because the time kept being pushed back to be later and later. BUT the food was really good and five stars, nice like home cooked food

I just come back from the carvery place now with my brother and sister and was very pleased with the service that we received from a very pleasant young lady who had excellent customer service skills and the gentleman on the carvery serving the meats. So sorry that I don't have their names.

Lovely food and excellent service. Just a shame we couldn't get a take out dinner for a family member as takeaway containers had run out.would recommend for a lovely value for money carvery!!!

“We had an appalling experience during our visit. The greeting staff were rude, and despite having a reservation, we were made to wait 15 minutes before being shown to our table. When my daughter sat on one of the chairs at the table, she discovered it was completely saturated, leaving her trousers soaked. We raised the issue with the staff, but all we received was a brief apology. On top of this, the drinks were overpriced, the food was cold, and only one person was serving at the carvery, causing long delays. My daughter then had to endure nearly two hours in the car with wet trousers. Overall, it was an incredibly disappointing experience.”

Food is very nice and has lots of options however is extremely busy and the waitress are very slow. Got seated 15 minutes after our booking time and had to wait 35 minutes to pay our bill even though your waitress was stood at the table next to us waiting for another customer in the toilet when she could of served us

The food was lovely, great selection. Adam the chef on carvery was on his own out front and worked like a trojan. He was polite, efficient and carved the meat beautifully. Adam is an absolute credit to you, but he could of done with a hand tonight, to take the pressure off. Hats off to him, he was a star.

Having use this carvery a number of time this has to be the worst visit I have ever had there was a 45 minute wait past our booking time of 14 00 hours and then to be told that the two most popular meats were no longer available so we were left with beef and gammon as the only option. If this establishment cannot cope with it customer count then it should close it doors until it can

I do love a nice carvery, but last time I went wasn't as good, as in lack of normal roast spuds not beef dripping ones, but still enjoyed my meal.

The carvery was brilliant. ADAM the chef was so good an d helpful He helped our aunt who is very old and slow was very patient with her and kept others in the queue waiting all smiling ! Well done

Good food at a good price and our waitress milena was very friendly , knowlegable about the restaurant and gave us good service as and when we asked her for things . We will be back again soon , and hope milena is there .

when I ordered I put msg on saying delivery to back of property there's a car park there courier knocks on front as this is a hmo property that's some room I get a msg from courier saying I'm waiting I was 30secs and found it rude

The staff were really friendly and helpfull. It was really busy but got served and seen quick. Also a nice clean store.

Sunday family lunch. The food was tasty and plenty of it. Milena our server was excellent attentive and engaging checking to ensure we had everything we needed. Milena is a credit to Clare and her team. I recommended the Gravesend Toby to anyone wanting a great Sunday meal

As always a lovely, great value meal with the family. Good food choices and plenty of it. Our waitress Milena was brilliant, very helpful and attentive.

3 of the 4 staff in the eating area were very polite and helpful. The 4th ( non uniform manageress) turned us away because we asked for a table for 4 in an half empty restaurant.. so went back 5 minutes later and asked for 2 tables for 2 and the very polite staff said we could actually have a table for 4 as they had lots of room .

All good. Particularly helpful waitress called Milena- who is always so friendly 🙂
