Good food, nice atmosphere. Breakfast is always great, but lunch varies

Good food for all the family. Busy but not long to wait to get food.

I went in here for breakfast overall the food was good and so is the value. The sausage and bacon were both nice, the black pudding was overcooked and rock hard and there was only one egg left that was very rubbery and swimming in oil, the server did say she would cook more eggs but they would take five minutes as they would have to heat the pan up.

I had a carvery midweek with my two children. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food was ok but disappointed lacking taste and not really hot. Just bland in taste.

Came today at 14:30 and had the carvery, we were very disappointed as the beef was very tough, it was like trying to eat leather so we left it and only ate the veg only. I informed the young waitress to tell the chef and the manager of the issue, because in the past we always had a great carvery.

Faultless for the price. Exceptionally pleasant staff too. Will be back soon!

Everytime we come here we are made to feel more then welcome by all the staff but especially dale he’s is absolutely amazing brightens everyone’s day and never stops working or moving around always on his feet, always goes above and beyond for everyone

Meh at best. Carvery looked dry, Yorkshire Pudding was cold and soggy, roast potatoes were lousy. Restaurant was too warm, there were at least 2 people sat near us that were fanning themselves. And the service was nonplussed at best.

Toby Carvery speaks for its self. Food is kept warm, meat cooked and served wonderfully. Drinks choice is ideal. Adequate parking, and good space.

We were disappointed. It’s Friday night, we booked a table, 7pm. We arrived at around 6:40pm, lot of people were coming in. After we were seated, we asked if the price showing on internet was right as we find it was different on their menu on the table. Well, they had printed a new menu but not update the website. But that wasn’t the disappointment. At 7pm, there was no gammon available in a carvery house, I couldn’t believe it. But have to say their staffs are friendly.

Made reservations and table not ready on Arrival whats the point off a reservation ?, Hard Roasties, Flat Yorkshire puddings, took 10 mins to pay as the card machines went down. And a 50p charge for a take away container that was not explained as shown as a flake on the reciept. Within 5 mins off finishing our meal, we were asked if we wanted a pudding, we said no, and was greeted with I'll get your bill, obviously wanted our table, not our fault we got to the table at 15:15 was it.

Great meal. Service exceptional. Booking so easy. Hot fresh and well prepared food. Loyalty stamps for attending and occasional meal offers. Highly recommend

Me my husband and son went earlier today for a meal , all I can say it's as amazing as ever fantastic atmosphere and the refurbishment is awesome. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as usual, we got there an hour early but was seated before our time we had booked , ten out of ten for everything the guy serving us the meat was super friendly and funny too . Loads of food which is always a bonus and tasty as always. Will be definitely going again soon highly recommend to any one either as a family or just on your own. Great service and value for money. We were served by James and he was lovely!

Ok, the service was great. The gammon was fatty & I had mostly fat so could not eat it. The Gravy area needs lighting, due to being too dark & kids could burn thereself when trying to put there Gravy on there food.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the manager (I didn't catch his name) and Teigan, who was very friendly and attentive. We received excellent service. In terms of improvement, it was a hot day and the windows could not be opened. This was very uncomfortable for visitors and especially for the staff who were doing their best in difficult work circumstances. Could the windows be replaced so that they can be opened?

Visited on a Wednesday morning for Breakfast. Was lovely and quiet. The restaurant was tidy and very clean and staff were helpful and accommodating. I would definitely go again.

Hurray!! reopened after a beautiful refit we travel from Sheffield to Wakefield once a week to meet the family, the manager Dale and James are the very best in customer service nothing ever!!!! Is to much trouble, none of the other tobys in Yorkshire come anywhere near there cleanliness and service, keep it up you really deserve credit for all you do thank you so much Debbie and all the family x

Good was garbage looked like it had been sat there all day

Absolutely disgusted!!! Traveled 18 miles to get to Wakefield Toby as our usual Barnsley Toby was closed for refurbishments. Upon entry we noticed how dingy and dated the whole pub was and the chairs looked as though they was from the last century (well used, well worn and mucky looking. We then ordered 2 drinks and sat down, I went to the drinks machine and when I came back my partner looked disgusted, she pointed out that all 4 sets of cutlery on the dirty looking table was all mucky with remnants of food still stuck to all 4 sets, we understand that smears from the dish washer detergent is the norm and to be expected but hard bits of food are certainly not the norm. When we first sat down the table and cutlery was covered by 4 menus which was actually placed on top of the cutlery, this is surely unhygienic unless the menus had been wiped down previously to being placed on the cutlery. After such a terrible first impression and total disgust in the complete lack of hygiene, we just got up and walked out in total disgust as there was no way we was going to eat in such a dirty environment. So after spending time and money to travel to Wakefield, we had to leave in rush hour travel and ended up travelling nearly 30 miles back to your Dronfield establishment which was satisfactory in all departments. We are appalled at how bad Wakefield was and will definitely never go back there. Environmental health would surly close this place down.

Busy Toby Cavery, popped in on a Wednesday night was seated right away despite how busy it was. Standard Toby Carvery meal.

First time visit, will not be the last. I took my dad for lunch and it was superb. All the food was freshly cooked so tasty. The staff were very quick and obliging. We had two starters soup and prawn cocktail, two king size carvery, dad had crumble to follow plus hot and cold drinks. Special thank you to the lady chef who went out of her way to do some plain cauliflower for me, I was really touched by that gesture. Thank you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food could have been a bit hotter. The food nice and reasonable price. Could do with more gluten free options for me. Got vegan on menu but not GF find it hard what to eat. Need to update your menus with more GF options as there are more people GF.

Always the place to go for a carvery, reasonably priced and great quality of food

Have had a great visit. Food was served fresh as we arrived. Hot veggies cool drinks. Prices are still reasonable. If you disagree - have a word with yourself. Its a chain. They make a profit - what do you expect. If you want gourmet food go to restaurant with ‘ambience’. If you want silver service go somewhere that does not employ Students working hard to cover fees. If you want a candlelit soirée - forget it. Its a TOBY. Have a shake n jog on.

I'm not usually one to order a carvery meal due to my lifelong disliking of vegetables 🤢. But this place changed my perspective entirely. We were served by staff who were friendly, helpful, and fun. And the food was beyond delicious, I basically had a plate full of meat with Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, mash potatoes and roast potatoes, I left feeling like I didn't need to eat again for approximately one week 😋. Highly recommended this place.

Had a meal here with my mother 3 months ago and wasn't very good just tried again and just as bad sorry won't be returning soon 😕

Ate here last night with my two friends and we enjoyed our carvery, as usual. All of the staff we came across were lovely and friendly but I must give a special mention about Dale. He is fab! He always remembers us, has a chat and makes us feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for him - he’s a credit to you. Thank you for another lovely evening.

We come here very often and sometimes the carvery is a little dry and looking sad but today everything was amazing. The meat was amazing and the service and staff were very good.

Breakfast buffet, all you can eat. Including Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The place is a bit tired looking. Could especially do with some maintenance to the exterior.

Taken to a table that someone else had already been seated at even though id booked online. Then was seated in bar area with my mother who struggles to walk and uses a stick. Was told waitress would be over to take drinks orders but she never came, i had to get drinks myself from bar. Star stood around talking and on phones. Gamon served to my child wasnt edible so he had to have mine. My daughter got covered in gravy that had bèen spilled all over the gravy area by someone else and not cleaned up, even though staff had time to stamd about. Overall quality of the food was rubbish. Horrible taste to both mash and roast potatoes and the roast potatoes were over cooked.

A mixed group of seven of us went, three kids and four adults, we all enjoyed our meal very much and found it good value for money, we would definitely go again.

Standard Toby breakfast with decent selection and all fresh, just disappointed the people near us decided to put their phones on full volume and watch the sports news, very intrusive and nothing mentioned by staff. We ended up having to move tables of our own accord to be able to continue our conversation.

Was very quiet on the Saturday night our group visited. Plenty of all 5 roast meats at the Carvery. All the ice cream had been eaten unfortunately. Otherwise good menu and choice of drinks at good priced. Just yards off Denbydale Road going out to M1. Ideal to have a break if shopping for a car at the many nearby dealerships.

Good carvery. Attentive staff. Only criticism would be that their soup always tends to be on the cool side.

Want to make the Manager/ess aware of service tonight to pick up a Too good to go offer at 8.45, the Girl in question was behind the bar, she had purple or pink bits in her hair, she is s credit to you, helpful, cheerful, knowledgeable and above all had the ability to communicate, make eye contact and listen to any concerns although I had none as she had ensured I knew the process. This girl needs to be used as an example to all your Staff as the way to look after Customers. Next time I'm in I'll be buying her a pint!

I recently had a meal with family at Toby Carvery and it was great! The food tasted great and the service was incredible. Our server, Elizabeth, was very welcoming and was able to get our orders to us quickly and with a smile on her face. I would strongly recommend eating at Toby Carvery especially as it is such a cheap and cheerful meal that you can’t beat.

The carvery was absolutely lovely

From the minute we walked in we were looked after by all the staff. The carvery was lovely we went on a Sunday so had a choice of 5 meats and a great variety of vegetables, all were absolutely delicious. Carys and Kian who delt with us while seated were so polite they are both an asset to your team We will definitely return in the future and also recommend to others well done to a great team 👏 Well done Carys and Kian

Breakfast buffet Good points, staff were helpful and looked to be enjoying their jobs. All the food that I had was good and hot , good quality sausage and bacon, Bad points, the interior is very tired, the carpet in some places is black. We were sat in the conservatory part and it looked dirty.

Visit here often, food good and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately what concerns me is the large infestation of flies that are flying and landing above the carvery serving area.

Went on a Wednesday evening, was very busy and hadn't booked but managed to get seated, carvery was excellent 👌 one of the best I've had and staff were great!!

Food was good. We were however shocked to see hundreds of flies up near the ceiling right above the the carvery. ( Lots round the ceiling air vent) Definitely a health and hygiene issue!

Although the carvery was good , the carvery area was swarming with flys suggesting you need to sort this I.e electric fly seaters etc as it is rather of putting and unsanitary.

We use this toby on average 2 times a week,our last visit will be our last due to the attitude of the server on the meat cutting. Did not like the comment on my wife's vegi meal which was mash and carrots when I said that a **** meal love when she came back up th line for some stuffing. The assistants manager just stood there When he kicked off and told us if we didn't like it go somewhere else, we took our meal to the table put our coats on paid and left ,as pensioners we decide where we spend our cash . IT WILL NOT BE IN ANY TOBY

We were greeted by a very stressed member of staff we had £6 voucher offers which we used. when we had already paid at the bar for the food and drinks we went to the carvery only to discover a swarm of flies hovering around the food it was definitely disappointing and a health risk, to make matters worse the manager openly admitted the flies were coming from the recycling centre on the opposite side of the road we had half our drinks and left. Our online vouchers had already been used so we could not redeem them anywhere else and to make matters worse we were charged for having half of our drinks which was not right. Thoroughly disappointed.

Went tonight and it was swarming with flies- I am talking hundreds flying near the meat and onto the food. We saw them as we were queueing for our carvery and one of the staff members said they have a problem every year and they come over from the tip. It could make someone seriously ill. Poor woman in front of us was wafting the flies from a full carvery plate before she noticed them. We turned around, cancelled our drink order and left. Not eating there.

The food needs improving massively. It was either overcooked stodge, or undercooked and past its best. Very unimpressed
