Dont get me wrong the place is good i got the mysore tiger prawn bhuna and i was expecting it to be a decent amount of prawn and inside the prawn thing was 3 prawns and inside my aunts meal was hair and the price for the portions is too overpriced barely any meat or anything nostly sauce and the service was super slow yes i get its busy but it doesnt take hour and half

We liked the place overall and it's not the first time we've been here because the food here is generally pretty good. But today it was pretty disappointing as the food which was served was very sweet despite us mentioning it to be mildly spicy. Not a great experience

A little noisy but otherwise excellent.

Nuestra experiencia en Tipu Sultan fue profundamente decepcionante. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida por el gerente, que era excepcionalmente amable y atento. Lamentablemente, el servicio se deterioró rápidamente. Fuimos completamente ignorados por nuestro camarero durante 20 minutos antes de que se tomara nuestra orden, y durante toda la comida, el personal de espera fue desatenta y requirió una rapidez constante. No hubo disculpas ni reconocimiento de las demoras. Hablamos con el propietario, que se disculpó y nos aseguró que la factura reflejaría nuestra experiencia. Sin embargo, el gerente nos informó más tarde que el sistema till restringía el descuento que podían aplicar. Aunque apreciamos las disculpas del propietario, el mal servicio, especialmente durante una comida familiar con niños, arruinó completamente nuestra noche. No regresaremos. El marcado contraste entre la bienvenida inicial del gerente y el servicio posterior fue muy notable.

Service was very poor, was told 20-25 mins for the food to be ready yet 1 hour later we were still waiting. We had asked for water twice but after waiting so long we had finished our food. We had to continuously go up to the counter to ask for updates. Would not recommend

Lovely decor & it ends there. The Desi breakfast was standard at best. A mini yogurt dip & mini pickles were served with two large paronte which was insufficient, the sujji’s were overly greasy, channa masala tested like fart & the chai was served in a little cup. The service was slow, disorganised & no one came to check if everything was okay once the breakfast was served. Unfortunately I will not be going back nor will I recommend.

It was my first time at Tipu Sultan Nottingham. The experience wasn’t too good. The service needs to be improved. There was only one server which i think is never enough in dining experience. Secondly, furthermore on service first of all after placing order we weren’t given any waiting time and then after a long wait of 25 mins i my self had to go to the counter and again had to wait there 3-4 min so that someone could attend me upon interacting with the guy in black shirt i cane to knew that there was some technical problems going on in the kitchen and before my starters arrived i had finished my J2O’s ( you can imagine from this) finally our food came after a struggle of 30 mins and in this all i didn’t saw the manager in the dining area. Writing this all not to just get any freebie from you guys. Just giving an honest review from what i felt and observed. I myself am managing franchise so i thought it to write about this. The same food would have costed me 20-30 from any-other place and think with a good service. The mains were superb however, starters were not up to the mark.

Absolutely horrendous experience and worried about food hygiene. Would never visit again or recommend ... we visited on 8th Feb 2025 , we ordered one Garlic & chilli Naan ,They sent us two , complained about it and they said we will take off order and when we were in middle of eating one of staff members came and asked for the naan back and took it from the table ,it was the basket I was eating from . I was shocked and on top of this they charged us as well . He counted pieces of Naan and God knows if it was served to someone else. Also on top of this one side of restaurant is nice and other one is very run down and given the fact I had booked it in advance we were put in very ugly side of the restaurant which looks like a takeaway ,we went there for our anniversary meal after reviews, a total disappointment.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Prashanth, who went above and beyond to guide us through the menu with exceptional patience and professionalism. Despite the restaurant being busy, he took the time to provide insightful recommendations, making our decision effortless. His suggestions were spot on, and the food exceeded our expectations absolutely delicious! As someone who has tried several dishes here before, I can confidently say that the quality and service remain outstanding.

Came for a family birthday meal. Wasn't the best warm welcome. Service was disappointing as we had to wait ages for us to be served and our table to be cleaned. One member of staff was very apologetic regards to the delay inbeween service, I'm not sure if they had enough staff on. Had hot plates but by the time the food came out they were cold. The food was ok unfortunately on this visit the service wasnt good. This was our first time here and will definitely be our last.

We were a group of 30 friends, had a 3-course lunch in Tipu Sultan Nottingham. We had an amazing time, in one of the private rooms upstairs. The food was delicious, Naresh who served our food and looked after us were attentive, prompt and super helpful. We had use of audio, and ample space, with a prayer room just next to where we were. It was all lovely, we enjoyed it.

I visit Tipu Sultan frequently both with friends and work outings, and the food is generally OK, I went with my family on 28th Dec 2024, and both the service and food were extremely bad. They had a party upstairs and as a result, didn't focus on our table. The waiters weren't around when you needed one and we found ourselves having to look around for when one would show. The biggest issue was the food came out luke warm, in particular the palak gosht which is normally our favourite dish was completely cold. We paid on departure and informed the lady after paying and she didn't have much to say other than sorry and looked startled. I don't think we'll be returning very soon.

La peor comida que he probado, pedimos mazhana (alevines) , kadai paneer, pollo frío, dal . En los alevines cerebrales pude ver solo aceite en la caja , en sartén se olvidan de agregar sal , en el caso de dal no se cocinó adecuadamente. Tan peor experiencia, cuando llamamos a manager e informamos de nuestra preocupación estaba como si se debiera a pedidos altos y ocupados , esto pasó, si no son capaces de hacerlo deberían haber parado el pedido. Nunca voy a venir aquí o pedir allí una vez más.

Worst food I ever had , we ordered mazhana (brain fry ), kadai paneer, chilly chicken , dal . In the brain fry I could see only oil in the box ,in panner they forget to add salt , in the case of dal it was not cooked properly. Such a worst experience, when we call manager and inform our concern he was like it’s due to high orders and busy , this happened, if they are not able to do they should have stopped the order. Never gonna come here or order there once again . The next day morning my friends has stomache upset .

This is my 8th time eating here! Love this place Pros Onsite parking Lovely accommodating staff (especially Diane) although did she her on my last visit Food, loads of choice, nice and freshly cooked! You must stay the Mango lache - not sure if I spelt that correctly! The manager, she’s fab, very welcoming and engaging, staff work hard to crack a joke and make you feel appreciated Seating and atmosphere is calm and relaxing Value for money Cons I’m not sure if it’s tradition but they some time bring things like roti and nann bread out all on one plate so everyone reaching for one plate of bread! I’m OCD and don’t like seeing when other people touch my food, soooooooo 😬 Don’t sit in front of the kitchen if you don’t like noise or smelling like the kitchen Have to order separate sides for your main, like rice? I went to tipu, today for my daughter’s birthday just to be welcomed with raw food and a disgusting service. To say I ordered I meat platter the food looked like it was still alive , well undercooked meat ! The service was sickening , the waitress who gave me my food hand her fingers in my dish!!!! I wouldn’t recommend to anyone that’s thinking of coming, food poisoning at its finest

I had visited this restaurant previously and enjoyed the food, so I decided to try it again. However, this time was a completely different experience. The food was not fresh and had an unpleasant smell. I couldn’t finish the chat because of this, but I went ahead and ate the rest of the items I had ordered. The dal also tasted off and didn’t seem fresh. Unfortunately, both my husband and I started feeling unwell shortly after, with severe headaches, vomiting, and upset stomachs. We were both sick for three days. I attempted to contact the restaurant multiple times via email to address the issue, but I received no response. It’s disappointing that they didn’t care enough to address the problem or even acknowledge our concerns. I feel it’s important for others to be aware of the quality of food here, as it made us seriously ill. Highly disappointed!!

Everything was good except a couple of warm dishes instead of hot. We were a party of 17 though so they did well.

De camino a ver a nuestro equipo en el City Ground paramos en Tipu Sultan para cenar. La configuración y decoración del restaurante era opulento y un poco desconectado; sin embargo, el servicio era amable y eficiente. La comida era buena y disfrutamos de nuestros poppadoms y curry; aunque la especia de curry estaba un poco apagado. Los precios eran razonables y volveríamos a visitar.

Un buen restaurante, la decoración es un entretenido art déco de 1970, la comida era bastante sabrosa, pero el servicio era bastante esbozado, de una camarera que realmente no estaba interesada en explicar el menú, no servir las bebidas correctas, descuidando proporcionar un curso que pedimos y luego tratando de cobrarnos por ello de todos modos, así que solo un 4 * hasta que puedan proporcionar un servicio más educado y consistente. La falta de alcohol no fue un problema importante para nosotros, pero puede posponer a algunas personas si esperan tener un Vindaloo y 10 pintas de cerveza ya que este no es ese tipo de establecimiento.

No estoy seguro de por qué tantos dan este 5 / 5. Quiero decir, está bien, pero no es espectacular. Estaba con un grupo de 10 para un trabajo. La comida era “agradable”, pero no increíble. Iría de nuevo si alguien lo arreglara, pero no lo elegiría por decir El Himalaya en la cercana Arnold. La decoración es agradable. El personal es agradable. Aparcamiento gratuito fuera. No hay suficiente espacio en las mesas para la comida de todos, hacer la hora de la comida es un poco caótico.

Amazing food recommended by Umar. Had 2 great starters Malai Tikka & Lamb Chops. 2 main dishes as well Peshawari Lamb and Butter Chicken. Decor is great as well.

I visited with my family yesterday, had a very bad experience in terms non professional attitude of staff and poor service. We kept waiting for our food for 45min and staff was busy making arrangements for pre booked parties totally ignoring inhouse coustomers. They keep apologizing for every mistake but sorry just not cover it. They dont even know that parents with young kids should be given priority as its hard to control children when they are waiting for food. We were served water after 15min. Totally rubbish behaviour. Tipu Sultan must be ashamed of them using his name.

First of all the atmosphere is really great but I would rather point out the food and service first. The service is not up to the mark. The waiting time is rather too long although the crowd was not there. The food especially the veg section is not at all good. We ordered Lahori Chana and paneer karahi. Both of the items had no salt and Chana was tasted like it came straight out of the pressure cooker as I could literally smell the boiling water in gravy. No salt, no spice. When we asked them to change it and make it more with masala, they just added green pepper that’s it. Not at all serious about what customer is asking for. Starters were good but mains, they really need to work upon.

To start with food, starters were good, but mains were really terrible. Some items were poorly blend without any taste or spices. When we raised a complaint, they just added some salt and green pepper and brought it back. Service was very slow but i don't mind waiting for the food as long as it’s great. That was not the case here. Apart of that, there was a promotion going on for Diwali. Diwali is on 31s. When asked for promotion discount they said its on for 1,2 and 3rd November. It’s just stupid to keep the promotion of Diwali while not offering the promotion on Diwali. When I raised this question they replied its not busy even though its Diwali, so thats why they will offer promotion on weekends. Usually customers are aware of these marketing gimmicks, but at least be honest guys.

After coming here for years Was very very DISAPPOINTED today Ordered on the phone for takeaway Was told 15 mins I walked in to collect my order was told couple of minutes waited OVER 10 minutes Overall waited around 35 minutes, I was told 15 minutes I am unsure why it has took them so long for a one omelette and nihari. Then I realised my tea is missing from my omelette, I said this to the manager who was serving me (bald chap with glasses), he said we will have to make the tea and it will take another few minutes, I then asked him to leave it and left. Very unhappy with service today I’ve paid almost aeound £35 and had to wait so long for in the end order to be incomplete Don’t think I’ll be coming back

Fantástico restaurante indio en el borde de Nottingham en Sherwood. Deliciosos entrantes de cebolla bhargi, poppadoms y bandeja de encurtidos. Los panes de pollo con mantequilla, korma de langostino real, arroz pilau y naan eran excelentes. El postre de mango y tarta de queso de maracuyá fue el final perfecto para una gran comida. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante si usted está buscando un auténtico restaurante indio.

We recently held our Nikah ceremony at Tipu Sultan Nottingham, and it was a perfect experience. The venue was beautifully decorated, reflecting the significance of the event, and the staff specially waiters were helpful,professional, respectful, and attentive to cultural traditions. The catering, with customized traditional dishes, was delicious and enjoyed by all guests. The hotel provided very good food according to our requirments and also portions were perfect ,taste was outstanding, and the event coordinator Hammad ensured everything ran smoothly. Overall, The Tipu Sultan was the ideal venue for our special day, combining elegance, great service, and cultural sensitivity.

It's a great place to visit with your family. Ample space, friendly staff, a prayer place upstairs, all will make your experience worthy.

I have been there twice. The food is good, tasty (if you like spicy food) and well presented on the plate, waiting time is rather long. Discusting smell in the toilets. Dirty seats by the table. Good kids menu options but no allergen information in menu - you need to ask a waiter for that.

I had my Nikah ceremony at Tipu Sultan Hotel, and the management was really bad, especially the manager, Hammad. Before we paid in full, they were welcoming, but after the full payment, Hammad became rude, and the service was terrible. We had a per-head system, and they served dessert during the last half hour, around 3:30, even though our hall time was from 12 to 4. By then, many guests had already left. They didn’t serve dessert at the tables but handed it to people like they were serving kids. Overall, it was a bad experience.

Food is unreal and the decor of the restaurant is really nice too. Definitely lives up to the Tipu Sultan brand, with the Birmingham one having been my first TS and now Nottingham the second 😁

Tipu Sultan Restaurant is an exceptional venue, and I had the pleasure of experiencing it firsthand as a photographer at a wedding hosted there. The venue itself is incredibly stylish, blending elegant décor with a warm, inviting ambiance, perfect for special occasions. But the real highlight was the food! The curry and samosas were the best I've ever tasted—authentic, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfection. The culinary experience alone makes this place a standout, but combined with the beautiful setting, it truly creates a memorable event experience. Highly recommended!

Just visited randomly, amazingly everything is excellent specially the ambiance, food is really fine and authentically fabulous. Hospitality and very warm welcoming staff.
