Terrible service today Waited over half an hour for a order I was told 15 minutes Manager told me few minutes and made me wait ages He then missed my tea and told me another few minutes for him to make it Very unhappy with todays service

After coming here for years Was very very DISAPPOINTED today Ordered on the phone for takeaway Was told 15 mins I walked in to collect my order was told couple of minutes waited OVER 10 minutes Overall waited around 35 minutes, I was told 15 minutes I am unsure why it has took them so long for a one omelette and nihari. Then I realised my tea is missing from my omelette, I said this to the manager who was serving me (bald chap with glasses), he said we will have to make the tea and it will take another few minutes, I then asked him to leave it and left. Very unhappy with service today I’ve paid almost aeound £35 and had to wait so long for in the end order to be incomplete Don’t think I’ll be coming back

The starters were amazing. But the butter chicken was not at par at all. The atmosphere of the place was banging and I absolutely loved it!

We recently held our Nikah ceremony at Tipu Sultan Nottingham, and it was a perfect experience. The venue was beautifully decorated, reflecting the significance of the event, and the staff specially waiters were helpful,professional, respectful, and attentive to cultural traditions. The catering, with customized traditional dishes, was delicious and enjoyed by all guests. The hotel provided very good food according to our requirments and also portions were perfect ,taste was outstanding, and the event coordinator Hammad ensured everything ran smoothly. Overall, The Tipu Sultan was the ideal venue for our special day, combining elegance, great service, and cultural sensitivity.

It's a great place to visit with your family. Ample space, friendly staff, a prayer place upstairs, all will make your experience worthy.

I have been there twice. The food is good, tasty (if you like spicy food) and well presented on the plate, waiting time is rather long. Discusting smell in the toilets. Dirty seats by the table. Good kids menu options but no allergen information in menu - you need to ask a waiter for that.

I had my Nikah ceremony at Tipu Sultan Hotel, and the management was really bad, especially the manager, Hammad. Before we paid in full, they were welcoming, but after the full payment, Hammad became rude, and the service was terrible. We had a per-head system, and they served dessert during the last half hour, around 3:30, even though our hall time was from 12 to 4. By then, many guests had already left. They didn’t serve dessert at the tables but handed it to people like they were serving kids. Overall, it was a bad experience.

Food is unreal and the decor of the restaurant is really nice too. Definitely lives up to the Tipu Sultan brand, with the Birmingham one having been my first TS and now Nottingham the second 😁

Tipu Sultan Restaurant is an exceptional venue, and I had the pleasure of experiencing it firsthand as a photographer at a wedding hosted there. The venue itself is incredibly stylish, blending elegant décor with a warm, inviting ambiance, perfect for special occasions. But the real highlight was the food! The curry and samosas were the best I've ever tasted—authentic, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfection. The culinary experience alone makes this place a standout, but combined with the beautiful setting, it truly creates a memorable event experience. Highly recommended!

Warm, family atmosphere, helpful, friendly staff and the manager, Mr. Hammad was very kind, helpful and hospitable, personally I'm from Bradford and came to Nottingham for a personal reason, also my father Co owns a restaurant in Bolton and so we know the dos and don'ts of the game, I grew up frequenting restaurants like Akbar's and EastZEast and I can whole heartedly say that the food was on-par if not better than these giants, the food was consistent on quality throughout, whether it was the starters, mains or the dessert, the place is truly a credit to the owner and pride is taken by the workers and the manager in what they do, they should all be very proud of themselves

From the moment you walk in you get treated like family. Comfortable private seating, great ambience, excellent attention to detail, efficient ordering and minimal waiting for orders. Quality tasty dining experience goes beyond expectations every time. Service from the moment you walk in till you leave is in a par with Michelin star restaurant. Well done Tipu Sultan.

The place had no atmosphere and for the price point the food is vastly over priced as there are far better options in Nottingham.

Had a fab meal last night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is impressive but would be lovely if the lighting was a little subdued, for atmosphere, hence the 3 x stars.

We had a lovely evening celebrating a special birthday for Shebaz. We were looked after by Zareen who took time out to help and chat which made us feel part of the whole experience. The food was delicious and certainly we were all full upon leaving. Special mention for the Blue Lagoon. Refreshing.

We went there on a Monday evening for friends birthday, table of eight. The food was amazing, decor also pretty cool and service outstanding. Also respect for not serving alcohol. Would highly recommend.

We had a nikkah lunch a week ago and it was the best decision to have it at Tipu Sultan. Ammar, Zareen and all staff members have been very professional, polite and considerate (we had plenty of children in our gathering). Reception drinks were lovely and food was served in timely manner and all guests loved tasty and freshly prepared dishes and deserts after. Atmosphere, internal decor and whole arrangement was exceptional. All the guests really enjoyed and complemented food and service. We are very thankful for all staff and especially chef for making it joyful and memorable day.

First time here, recommended by my mum and let me tell you it was worth every penny, the food was unreal, the customer service from Naresh was unmatched, never felt so welcomed and the effort he put into making us have a great first experience wasn’t unnoticed, Thankyou Naresh, Thankyou Tipu Sultan. A really special place with authentic and delicious South Asian dishes, a welcoming atmosphere and terrific service. We enjoyed a range of curries - including Karahi Nurgh Sultani (quite hot) and the Desi Chili Handi Chicken (VERY hot), wonderful pilau rice and a specially scrummy Kashmiri naan bread with postachio, almonds, coconut and cream. Its a dry venue but the mocktails are just as good as any alcoholic drink and I also tried Desi Chai for the first time. The Gajar Ka Halwa was a memorably good dessert, made with fresh carrot, milk ghee and sugar, served with ice cream. Mohsin, our waiter was friendly and attentive, advising us knowledgeably on the specialities of the house. I'd thoroughly recommend it, especially if you like fresh, genuine South Asian cooking. They also have a takeaway on site and two other branches in Birmingham and Leicester. We were favourably impressed by what good value it was and hope to return very soon.

If you like Indian/Pakistani food look no further than Tipu Sultan in Sherwood. From our friendly welcome to the genuine thank you for coming, everything was first rate. The staff, especially, Mohsin, seem to honestly enjoy their job; the food is utterly delicious and beautifully presented and our request for a doggy bag- the portions are more than adequate- was greeted with an immediate serve of take away boxes. It is dry, but their virgin cocktails are very moreish and the alcohol was not missed. This was my third visit and it maintains it's excellence with ease.

I recently visited Tipu Sultan after some time away, and to say the experience was disappointing would be an understatement. The standards have completely plummeted. What was once an enjoyable dining experience has now turned into an absolute disaster. The service was nothing short of atrocious. The staff seemed disinterested and borderline rude, with a complete lack of basic hospitality. It felt as though they couldn’t care less about the customers, which is shocking for a place that once prided itself on its attentive service. It’s painfully obvious that now they’re running a profitable business, they’ve decided to cut corners on quality and customer care. The attentiveness that used to set this restaurant apart is long gone. Instead, you’re left feeling like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. It’s a real shame to see such a drastic decline. Safe to say, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

A few days ago I went from the Netherlands to Nottinghamshire for a short trip. I had a great experience at [Tipu Sultan restaurant] Very hospitable staff. The food was excellent! reasonable price. I had the seekh kabab, and it was perfectly prepared.😋 Portions of food are very big like poori or daal makhni, onion bhaji. It is a romantic place with luxurious fabrics. I will be honest with my review: My keys were lost in the restaurant. The staff did their best to find my key. Very nice and clean, food was nice but the best thing about visiting tipu sultan was the service! Especially our waitress deanna (I think her name was,) she was AMAZING! So helpful, so kind, deserves a raise!! Made sure allergies were known. Will definitely be back!

We visited this restaurant on many occasions and it’s always always been a pleasure. But we visited last evening just me and my partner, the food tasted beautiful as always service was spectacular however the reason for the one star review is because me and my partner have both woken up through the night and been extremely unwell with sickness and diarrhoea the stomach cramps and everything along side it highly indicates food poisoning. Also the kids here are totally fine and this is the only meal me and my partner have eaten without the kids in a long while. It’s such a shame because as a whole the place was lovely but something is totally off 😫

Top class. Desi without the risk of disaster. While not quite as good as my favourite Formica-top in Huston Green, this was up there with the best and with less oil and digestive risk. Northern south-Asian -Punjabi/Gujerati is my favourite requiring great grill skills and a way with layering deep spiced sauces against a chilli burn and this is all done very well. For a take out order, the staff were great when they didn’t need to be for us riff-raff - Diana in particular being proficient and kind; the deliveroo driver was offered a seat. Classy. Staff are clearly treated well to have this attitude when not actually required. Nothing wrong; everything right ( you can tell a kitchen by its roti alone) and good value; twelve large helpings for £122 tells its own story. Starter selection was perfect -and with something new; a grilled marinated ‘broccoli that turned out to be chicken. The lamb haldi was great, chicken haldi,all the little goujons beautifully prepared. Mixed veg a little soft for my tastes but perfectly sauced. The spicing guide matched my palate but for those sensitive to the chilli, there are the kormas and butter chicken, both of which were sound, if uninteresting to the chilliesta. Five stars is a rare one for me (Mayfair Chinese my last) but here well deserved. Will go for a sit down next time because it looks gorgeous, will just dress up a bit from this time (shorts); Tipu Sultan is worth it. While you might pay half that in the Green, and that might be more Desi offerings, Tipu Sultan wins my future custom by doing it right and doing right by people.

Really good meal, fantastic service and very tasty food

1st time here on Saturday, not planned to go out but had this on the to do list at some point. Was met with a nice, friendly welcome, relaxed atmosphere and not too busy. Staff very attentive with a service 2nd to none. Excellent food, very tasty, well sized portions, probably wont go as big for the starter next time. Didn't notice how quickly folk filled the tables until we left and had to wait to leave the car park. Will most certainly visit here again. Well done to all and keep up the good work. Thank you.

Our recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. We stopped by after a long day of shopping, hoping for a quick, satisfying meal. Unfortunately, what we got was far from that. First off, the kids' menu promised a butter chicken curry with naan, rice, and a fruit shoot, which seemed like a good deal. However, when we ordered naan, we weren’t informed that it was an “either/or” situation between the naan and rice. This lack of communication meant our child missed out on the option to choose, leaving us feeling misled. The menu itself wasn't clear on this point either, which only added to our frustration. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 compared to other places we've tried. The lachcha paratha, which should have been flaky and light, was disappointingly doughy and dense. The chili logo chips were undercooked and hard, which was quite unpleasant. The butter chicken was perhaps the biggest letdown. The meat was dry, and the sauce, which should have been rich and flavorful, was bland and overly sweet. It seemed like the spices hadn’t infused into the chicken at all, leaving it tasteless. Overall, this restaurant fell short on both service and quality. We won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Excellent Food, Authentic taste the only variable is the portion quantity which I find generous for some dishes and not so much for few items ! Bottom line is taste does nlt disappoint

Was very disappointed as I had high expectations of this restaurant recommend by friends and family, went to view the upstairs venue for my nikkah and the manager was very unapproachable and was just being blunt and after talking he just rushed off downstairs without saying thank you. As a bride to be it wasn’t nice experiencing this and put me off booking the venue which is a shame because I have been to this restaurant and the staff and food are brilliant. The review hopefully makes them reflect on how to talk to customers especially someone who’s getting married.

The food is absolutely amazing, fresh and tasty, I highly recommend the chicken wing starter, they are the best wings I've ever tasted, I certainly will be coming back!! The food is is packed full of flavour and spice. The service is excellent and the staff are highly attentive and on hand at all times. Our server Mohsin was great and friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Brilliant value for money and I would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!!!

We were a party of 15 and even though we didn't have a booking we were accommodated straight away.. Dianne was our hostess and she was great with her service. Disappointing experience at this tipu sultan restaurant. We placed an order totalling £120, which included two different curry dishes, but we received the same curry. Additionally, the mojito we ordered tasted like plain lemon water. When I complained, my concerns were ignored, and the manager tried to avoid addressing the issue. For a better dining experience, I recommend visiting the Tipu Sultan restaurant in Leicester.

For the service and food received you'd expect it to be a lot more expensive, we will definitely be back 👍 Brilliant

First time at this great and very authentic Indian restaurant. Naresh was our waiter and he was very attentive and informative. He helped us with the menu and was very professional.

What an amazing place!! Right from the welcome at the front door!! The attention to detail, the efficiency and speed of service and not to forget the absolutely delicious food here!! Beats many restaurants in India too!! I can give 10 stars!

We had the Sultani Gosht Boti and lamb chops for starters. Both were decent but lamb chops were more enjoyable. For mains, we had the Karahi Gosht sultani and Mysore Tiger prawn Bhuna. Both were very nice. We had the Cheese and garlic naan and Peshwari nan which again were both very nice. Thin base. Salad was okay. We had the Strawberry Daiquiri and Royal chaunsa mocktails which both were really nice. I preferred the strawberry Daiquiri. However, note that the strawberry mocktail glass was smaller and had less volume of the mocktail for the same price. We had the Chocolate lovin spoon cake for dessert which came with cream and a scoop of ice cream. It felt like a bougie Matilda cake which was nice. Customer service was good with regular check-ins from staff. The music was at times a bit too loud. We spent £78 for all of this and had some food left over. They also had rooms upstairs for praying purposes. It was overall a pleasant experience.

I just picked up some takeaway from here. I ordered a bombay potato side. It was dwimmihg in ghee. So much so as to make the dish inedible. My partner found two hairs in the other dish we ordered. The naan bread was good. Would not recommend.

This is our second visit and was just as good as our first visit. All of the staff are fantastic. Very welcoming, beautiful decor, and amazing food with lots of flavour. In our family we have nut allergy, lentil allergy and sesame allergy. But both times we have felt very safe. If you have a nut allergy they do say to stay away from desserts because they are bought in and can’t guarantee any of them are nut free. Both times we have been ok with the gulab jamon but we won’t risk any other desserts. The lamb starter is full of flavour and fully recommend This dish…the other one we love as a main is the Karahi gosht. Absolutely amazing. There is a wonderful lady that works there called Diana. She is the most friendly caring welcoming person you will ever meet and can’t do enough for you. She also offers free hugs. We have really fallen in love with Tipu Sultan in Sherwood on Mansfield Road. And we fully recommend this place to everyone. I’m sorry we didn’t take any pictures of the food because we were just all in the moment enjoying ourselves that we forgot…i guess that says a lot in itself. We will definitely be going back very soon.

The staff and Ambience were really nice. But when it comes to the food, it was not as per expectations. The Kashmiri Naan and Keema Naan was awesome. 5* Haryali murg tikka was average. Lamb sultani was okish. Nothing exceptional. Overall worth a try for the welcoming staffs and the ambience.

Just had dinner here for the first time whilst on a work trip. This place was easy to find. I received a warm welcome. The atmosphere is amazing. Service is superb and the food was very tasty. It was one of the best boneless lamb karahi I ever had for ages. I think it's called Sultani. Drinks and ice cream everything was spot on. I think they have conquered like Tipu Sultan did centuries ago. Overall excellent experience and soon again insha'Allah.
