Ordered a takeaway, for collection. Restaurant quality food that was brilliant. Had the home style Goat and Methi Chicken, done Punjabi style. This was as authentic as you get. Excellent flavour profile. I expect that everything on the menu is excellent. Would highly recommend.

Went here today and the chicken Tikka masala was the only standout dish. The rest of the food ordered were very below par and the food was missing that essential kick to ensure that scrumptious element to it hence the three starts. Do not recommend this place to anyone who wants proper Indian food.

We’ve been meaning to visit this place for a long time and haven’t got around to it. Wow it was fabulous! Friendly staff, beautiful decor, lovely relaxed, atmosphere. Easily the best in Nottingham - we’ve been around 8 times now, as groups of 2-10 and the food has been just as good despite the larger tables to service. Also just as good mid-week or a busy Saturday. Depth of flavour and presentation are superb. Interior great as often you compromise on interior for a more authentic Indian flavour. Yes, a bit more expensive than your average, but a) we’ve wasted much more money on less and b) it’s still the same price as a good quality pub meal. Booked this evening to introduce another friend!

Had to take my sister and nephew visiting from California. They absolutely loved it. Service, ambience, food, everything. They even said they'd try making GF chapattis which turned out OK. My nephew was super happy to have his chicken tikka masala "desified' as he likes hot & spicy. Definitely somewhere to go to for special occasions. They surprised my sister with a birthday firecracker cheesecake and all because they'd heard us. Highly recommend.

For $60 got biriani which was nice, a fish main, bit watery, rice, $6 for 2 prawns! Chipaties and bread............. $60 and nothing special or big portions. For value for money I recommend indigo or Desi. I know I knew the prices when i placed order, but was willing to splash out and expected something exceptional for the money and was disappointed. Could have spent half the money, and had a more enjoyable meal elsewhere. If wanting something special.......go somewhere else. I'm sorry, I've been stuck on dollar sign. I do mean pounds. Order was 25th May. You are correct. You don't do a prawn dish for 6 pounds, I paid 12 pounds for lahshuni prawns and only 2 over cooked prawns. Can include a screenshot of my receipt if still imagine am not in about your establishment. Was extremely underwhelmed when expected to be wowed by your food. Mid level takeaway standard. Desi hyson green 5 mins down road better and indigo mapperly, spice all alot better value and quality

Superb. Food and service were simply brilliant. Cannot fault Masala Junction at all. We ate at 8pm on a Saturday, restaurant was busy but not too full so the atmosphere was just right. Starters were very enjoyable - perfect size to whet your appetite, especially the Tulasi Tikka. We ordered a variety of dishes for our group of four, king prawn, fish and chicken. All were delightful, not too heavy on the spices (accurate to their descriptions) with incredible depth but not drowning out the more delicate flavours. Masala Junction was recommended by Indian friends as being their favourite restaurant in Nottingham, and it certainly lives up to that. We will return.

The waiter was amiable and welcoming, but I found the food oily, and I didn't get the choice of sauce with the scallops, it didn't work for me. Onion bhaji had no Onion in it, Samosa's were heavy and the pastry was thick and they covered them in a sauce which spoilt them, overall it was a disappointment and I would not recommend this restaurant to friends and family

Joe . 2024-02-16
Ive been visiting this restaurant since it opened. Ive been several times since it was sold to the current owner and for the most part the quality has been maintained, however, on my most recent visit I came away with a sense that something has changed. The service is still excellent but the food is not quite the same. Additionally, there is gaffer tape holding some of the leather seating together and if you catch in wrong its very sticky on your hands, not exactly in line with the premium price that is charged. My wife and I both came away with a feeling of 'sort of'. Everything was sort of as we expected but just not quite the same. There have been subtle changes to the poppadum's and nan breads which definitely feel cheaper. Additionally, the starters and mains were 'sort of' what we expected but it just felt there were subtle changes that have impacted the overall quality of the food, the sauce for the Goan fish curry has definitely been changed and not for the better. Maybe there is a new chef or supplier, who knows, its just not quite the same. The big problem now is 'do we go back'. Its not the cheapest restaurant around but we always viewed a visit here as a treat knowing we would get great service and outstanding food. On the basis the food quality has dropped, it's difficult to justify the additional expense for what was in reality an average meal. Such a shame, because the staff are lovely and we usually enjoy the food. Hopefully this was a one off experience and things improve in the future.

EXTRAORDINARY ***** Yesterday evening on the 29th of December, my beautiful baby cutie & Fiancé Katarina celebrated her birthday. I wished to surprise her with a dinner reservation someplace new and even the Cuisine I kept a secret. "Fine Dining Indian Restaurant" are the keywords that won my commitment to booking us a table for 2 at Masala Junction. The Restaurant is situated within a stunning Old Bank Building (built in 1929) with architectural features to pleasure even the most fastidious Diner. The atmosphere in Masala Junction Restaurant is warmly 'pitch perfect' and so is its Staff. Shoutout is so deserved for Akash (apologies if spelled incorrectly) who was our most astutely fantastic Host/Server for the evening. He made our dinner at Masala Junction Restaurant as memorable for all the best reasons as can be experienced anywhere else. The food here is almost ridiculously delicious & my Saag Gosht was truly the BEST Saag I have ever tasted out of the 9 countries where I had ordered the dish. A quiet word with Akash during my Fiancé's shorter powder room step away, led to him in total quiet preparing a luxury cake with lit-Sparkler to surprise Katarina the Birthday Chica at the end of our meal. I met the Owner in happenstance before our exit and he is a stellar human being that deserves Masala Junction's success. Thank you so much everyone at Masala Junction Restaurant, Nottingham ---

We were very interested to experience Marsala Junction again after it being taken over by the owners of the Mesaab in Nottingham. Just as we expected, everything ran like clockwork and we had a superb meal. The only very small criticism we has was that care needs to be taken of the air conditioning temperature since the restaurant felt too cold for comfort. Otherwise, an extremely enjoyable experience.

We had to try this in person after discovering them on JustEat coming out of the pandemic. We were impressed with the food then and knew that we wanted to taste some of the dishes that don't naturally travel well such as 'chaats', tandoori breads or desserts with kulfi & ice cream. And we weren't disappointed. Fabulous, varied selection of veggie & vegan starters and sides which were all very well balanced in terms of oil, seasoning and spices. Service was excellent as was the decor and ambience of the restaurant itself. Mum loved the Lahori choley and Rasmalai which took her back to her childhood tastes from old Delhi. We will be returning. Good to know that with notice the breads can be made using gluten free flour.

The food itself was excellent, a clever , innovate twist on traditional "Indian" food. Sat in the very centre of the restaurant was a large group with 5 children, ranging from a baby upwards. The older children were totally out of control - screaming, running around, throwing food about etc etc. None of the parents took any action, and the restaurant staff/management simply watched. From the body language of the other clients, most were as annoyed as we were. Some restaurants now have "over 12's" nights, or a policy that children must remain at the table at all times. Unless they want to lose many of their clients Masala Junction need to consider action such as this.

Wow. Just wow! I called at 20:30 on a Saturday to book a table for 21:30 and was greeted by a lovely man who booked us in, no trouble. When we entered the building it was instantly warm and welcoming, with soft but upbeat music playing at the perfect volume. The ambience was spot on. Once seated, our drinks order was taken and poppadoms with dips were brought to us very quickly. The corrainder dip was sublime, a really fresh flavour. Starters were onion bhajis and the paneer and brocoli dish - both my partner and myself thoroughly enjoyed these. I had never had brocoli served in this way and it really worked! Mains were chicken tikka masala and chicken xacutti which were delicious and perfectly spiced. We shared a pilau rice and had a naan each (my partner doesn't like pershwari but it's my favourite!). If we didn't live so far away this would be our new go to! Everything about the service, food, drinks, menu, decor... It was all 100/10

Situated in a wonderful old bank building the Masala Junction is conveniently situated within 5 min stroll from the Mercury hotel. On our arrival my wife & I received a very warm welcome and we’re shown to our table. Inside was decorated for Christmas however the restaurant’s own tasteful decor was attractive and very fitting. The menu although not huge had a very good choice of starters, Mains and deserts, additionally a varied choice of wines was available. We ordered the onion barji & vegetable samosas which arrived swiftly, both looked & tasted amazing! For Mains we ordered Chicken Jalfrezi which was a tasty, and delightfully spicy dish & Chicken Tika Tak also delicious although less spicy. Both dishes were generous portions, super tasty, food arrived nice and hot and all was complimented by sides of light perfectly cooked Pilau rice, potato & spinach Sag and quite possibly the best Nan bread we’ve ever tasted! We were both too full for deserts so unable to review those other than to say that what was on offer looked incredibly diverse and sounded delicious. The wine was also superb and the service was outstanding, we cannot fault anything and would highly recommend.

Lastly the bill was a bit eye watering £77 For two with no alcohol just two cokes. And a salt lassie. If the Food was as good as I was told I may go back . But it wasn't.

Not great. Food was quite expensive for what is was. Especially the onion bhaji. Worse of all was being made to go past their bins, through the back to take my pick up order.

After coming here for years Was very very DISAPPOINTED today Ordered on the phone for takeaway Was told 15 mins I walked in to collect my order was told couple of minutes waited OVER 10 minutes Overall waited around 35 minutes, I was told 15 minutes I am unsure why it has took them so long for a one omelette and nihari. Then I realised my tea is missing from my omelette, I said this to the manager who was serving me (bald chap with glasses), he said we will have to make the tea and it will take another few minutes, I then asked him to leave it and left. Very unhappy with service today I’ve paid almost aeound £35 and had to wait so long for in the end order to be incomplete Don’t think I’ll be coming back
