We've been to Kayal quite a few times in the past and the food has been excellent. Sadly the last two times the beer has tasted like vinegar. I ordered a pint of Malbar and it tasted off. I returned it to the bar and the swapped it for Cobra and that wasn't great either. Such a shame as the food and presentation is top notch. They really should either look after the beer better or pour off the night before pipe lines.

Kayal is such a good quality restaurant. Great surroundings and atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is superb. The Business Lunch has to be the best deal in town. I've been eating there for years and the meal today was just the best. Fantastic value. A great asset to Nottingham.

Very big dishes for the price, we couldn't finish even half. Very unique authentic cuisine, we both had a lovely time. The staff are all nice and attentive!

Authentic South Indian food and environment, located in the city centre. Really delicious dishes. A must try for everyone. We had the Kayal fish curry w rice and the Business lunch - I would highly recommend trying both when you visit.

What an amazing place with amazing staff! I have been coming to Kayal for years, but last night in particular I had a wonderful experience with both the food and the staff! My friends and I walked in late, and made a substantial order to the kitchen an hour before closing! The kitchen made everything perfectly, the service was excellent and the food was divine! The chef came out to check we were happy, and I was a pleasure to meet the man who made our night so great. An excellent place- you must try!

Been to Kayal a few times now and every time we come it’s a fantastic experience. Food is so good, the Kayal fish curry and the aubergine curry are a favourite of ours.

Waiters are really thoughtful especially Shijo, made sure everything was perfect. Drinks were great Anas was really really lovely explaining how to eat the gigantic dosa wig oh was made by angel hands cause it had so much flavour and the tomato sauce chutney was to die forrrrrr. I ordered fish curry and appam via uber today, appam was awesome and fish curry was below average, seems like the chef added some fish into the tomato souse and onion. Amazing food every time, and the business lunch deal is incredibly good value. Had to add to this as my girlfriend and I just had the most amazing meal there. The Chakara and Tali were absolutely incredible, and something we'll definitely eat here again. The staff, as always, were very attentive and polite, and everything we ate was absolutely faultless!

Food was great and the service was mostly terrible. The first guy that served us might have been the most condescending, patronising human I have ever dealt with. He is the person who belongs in the back room and you keep away from customers. If I wasn't in a big group I would have walked out after my first interaction but I was compelled to stay by my party. I listened to this absolute tool talk about how some things were on the "children's menu" and that you shouldn't order "x" or "y" he was an intolerable buffoon. In summary the food was fantastic. The waiter (who I believe was the manager) is the epitome of promoting idiots. The food is great. Other waiters are great, just hope you don't end up getting served by the manager.

This is my second visit to Kayal & it was once again, brilliant. My friends had the Veg Sadhya (thali) which they loved & I tried the Travancore Chicken Biriyani, another top dish. Jo’s service was absolutely brilliant! 100% recommend Kayal, Nottingham.

We had a great time demolishing the Vegetarian Sadya Thali and were serviced excellently thanks to the very hospitable waiter Jo. He was patient and great at communicating with us.
