Today, around 3 PM, I visited the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I ordered two masala dosas, one uttapam, and chili paneer. The food was terrible in taste. One of the masala dosas even had a strand of hair in it, which was extremely unhygienic. Additionally, the dosa batter was sour and clearly unfit for making dosas. Serving such food to customers is unacceptable, especially when we are paying for it. As a restaurant, it is your responsibility to provide quality and hygienic food. Customers should not be expected to pay for substandard food. This was a deeply disappointing experience.

A lovely food will be going back soon. We had uzhunu vada and Chilli Paneer as starter and pork peralan and ammichi pidi and kozhi as mains. Much recommended.

We had an incredible experience at Kayal Resturant. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy vibe. Every dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors were outstanding--especially the Chicken Biriyani and Sea food Biriyani, Grilled fish which was tender and perfectly seasoned. Pala Beef chops were incredible for both malayalie customers and british. My British friends really enjoyed the food. The service was impeccable; Specially Ms Mahi and Anas was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making thoughtful recommendations. He recommended Kallushap meen curry and Chicken Biriyani us. It was simply Awesome. Prices were reasonable for the quality, making it a wonderful value. Highly recommend for a memorable meal!"

This is probably the best fine dining restaurant we’ve been to for Kerala food. The quality of the dishes, the atmosphere and the service was just top notch. The price does reflect this but i felt that is to be expected considering what you get for it. Having said that, portion sizes are very generous so you could easily share between 2. The quality of service has to be called out as this was brilliant. We had Maheshwari look after us that day and not only was she great with the adults but she was so good with the kids. Also, we were a party of 8 adults and 3 kids - Maheshwari memorised our (very complicated) order so easily without a notepad and got it correct! That alone was impressive. If you want authentic Kerala food and service, I would highly recommend this place. Being Keralians ourselves, we certainly give it the stamp of approval.

The restaurant serves the best food and their service is good. The restaurant has best ambiance with a cozy vibe. From pre meal snacks to the mains the food is well presented. The chicken biryani and seafood biryani is perfectly seasoned. The prices and quality of the food spot on and very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was amazing, as was the service. I went for a mushroom dish and the chapati which I'd highly recommend. The only dampener for me was the atmosphere, where it was difficult to hold a conversation due to the loud music. That said, I'd absolutely go again on a quieter night

Visited the place with my friends this afternoon. We all unanimously rated the food and ambience to be awesome. The preparations had great portions. The recommendations by the support staff was on point and we enjoyed delicious dishes ranging from vada in the starters to polichattu in the main course. Thumbs up to the chef and the entire team.

Food was spot on, the price is right, and Devika who served us was an absolute delight. Might have ordered a bit too much food, but they kindly bagged up my leftovers so I can have it fried for breakfast. Luxury!

Great atmosphere and service. The food was a solid 9 out of 10. This is probably due to my own taste. The spicing was not how I normally enjoy Indian food. I highly recommend the restaurant but be warned, it's pricy to eat here. I will definitely return.

Been here a few times and the food is always good. My wife and daughter both had the Kayal Special Sadya which they thoroughly enjoved. I chose the Cheera Erachi Curry, which is one of the best lamb curries I've ever had .... had it last time I visited and the time I visited Kayal Leicester, so it's become a bit of a go to choice! Although I went for a predominantly meat based curry, I've been impressed with their selection of fish and vegetarian options. My wife / daughter sometimes go in at lunchtime and have a 'business' lunch which is a Thali and they rave about that. During this visit our waitress was Mahi, who delivered 1st class service and attended to all our needs. Thank you Mahi.

Delicious, unique menu with excellent service. Excellent seafood thali, fair prices and a complementary desert. Yummy. Mahi was wonderful, very knowledgeable of the menu and recommended dishes that we were all very happy with.

This is the third time we are going to Kayal, and we absolutely love the food, service, and atmosphere. It is the first and only kerala restaurant we have been to in the UK, and they prepare authentic and amazing food. This time, we came all the way from Burton on Trent, just for this experience and got to see the chef Mahi, her food was awesome, but mostly the service she provided we will always remember. Devika, who served us, was very welcoming.

Very nice place in the center of Nottingham. Good Indian cuisine. It's the second time I've gone and I really liked it both times. The service is tremendously friendly but I didn't like that when paying by card, they put the POS in front of me with the options for different tips, with the waitress standing there in front and looking to see what I put. His displeasure was noticeable when I said “no tip.” I didn't like the way they did it. Furthermore, I think that a minimum tip of 10% is extremely exaggerated.

The place is awesome apart from being on the expensive side. You'll find a variety of authentic kerala food there, probably the best in town. The service is exceptional as the staff are professional and friendly. Moreover, offers a really good atmosphere as well.

visited recently and was blown away by the food. I really do not like fish but friends had really recommended the tilapia pollichathu. i am so glad i tried this, it’s one of the most delicious things i’ve ever tasted and not fishy in the slightest, would strongly recommend everyone tries it. Full portion at 21 pounds is a lot even between 2, very reasonably priced.

Gorgeous authentic food and great value for money. Huge portions and so much flavour. Mahi chose our meals for us as we couldn't decide what to order and she chose beautiful pork starter, banana leaf fish and chicken curry mains We will definitely be back!

Excellent food from Kerala, a state in South India. Our host Mahi was exceptional, she took utmost care to make sure our Onam Sadya was grand!

The ambiance and staff is good. I highly doubt the food served here is fresh. I had a lamb dosa and after only 30-40 mins of my dinner I started feeling very uneasy and ultimately puked the entire thing I had in this restaurant.

Lunch today at Kayal Nottingham for the Onam Sadhya celebration was fabulous. Beautiful food, very helpful and friendly staff, especially Mahi who explained many of the dishes for us.

First time here. We had a fabulous experience. Something different and incredible! I had the stuffed bass fish with prawns. WOW! Mahi was very helpful and looked after us throughout . 10/10. Go now and you won't be disappointed.

A long fall from grace. This used to my wife and I favourite spot. But over the years has been in a slow and depressing decline. The food hasn’t changed in 10 years. And all they have done is bulked out the potions and jacked up the price, curry’s have become bland and tasteless. It is such a shame to see it fall so far. Bring back 2018 Kayal. That food was to die for.

I am used to having Indian food. So thoroughly enjoyed the Masala Dosa. My partner, on the other hand had never tried South Indian dishes, so it was his first time trying Dosa, but he loved it. They offer large portion, especially dosas are massive as expected from an authentic South Indian restaurant. Definitely a place to go to get a slice of Kerela.

Amazing atmosphere and food, highly recommend, interior is lovely. We have been coming here for years with no issues! Food can be quite spicy but they have offered in the past to reduce the spice. Always well presented and friendly staff.

Happiest accident ever! We were looking for a quick lunch catering for gluten free and veggie and we were in Hockley area. Next thing were eating the most delicious daal dosa stuffed aubergine rice and all that good stuff. We've been before in the evening and didn't know they did this. Dont expect the full menu, expect a perfect lunch creation but with the same level of service. Both ate like royalty for less than £20 including a masala tea :)

Went for a meal with parent, wasn't sure on what to order asked for advice from staff, extremely welcoming and perfect advice, ordered starters which were very nice but the main of Kayal fish curry and mixed fish curry which was honestly amazing, very tasty, fully of fish whilst also being creamy, couldn't praise high enough whilst priced very reasonable for the quality and service received. Went in due to looking busy and it is always the unexpected meals that turn out the best a true 5/5.

I love Kayal! They have lots of vegan options and everything I've tried has been delicious. Permanently craving Kayal food - once you try you won't be able to stop thinking about it!

Great service to give us a great dining experience. On a Friday night, there was a magician ( Mr. Freddy) to entertain the kids. Mr. Sreelaj took care of us with smiles and friendliness. 👍 There were many choices in the Menu. Authentic Kerala cuisine. 👌 Muyal ( Rabbit) pepper fry was good. Chicken pepper gravy ( kozhi kurumilagu) was super Portion sizes were reasonably good. 👍 A must try restaurant

Absolutely delicious food we had the lamb dosa and a mango,strawberry and kiwi fruit juice (although it was more like a smoothy, not complaining lol!!) and service was excellent, they were very pleasant, lovely and greeted with a smile! Fantastic experience, well be back!!xx

Best Indian meal I've had for a long time.

The standards are not what they used to be, been there few times in the past, it was very good, but went in on May 6th Bank Holiday with family and friends ordered Masala Dosa and Masala Tea, masala dosa was tasteless, not enough chutneys, masal tea was from a packet which I can make at home anyway (I expected home made masala tea made from scratch), all in all standard has dropped, Kayal you need to up your standard, its a shame that there aren't many South Indian restaurants in Nottingham and the some of the ones we have are not maintaining standards.
