Enjoyable from the start this quiet Indian restaurant has some excellent food. We had the Thali which comprises of three courses, served in small dishes. Truly different and very tasty. They have a novel selection of non alcoholic drinks that they make up. Quite honestly more than each of us could eat. A foodie delight. The only down side were people that came in from the street to use the toiler and some noise from the bar next door.

Brilliant evening and delicious food. We ordered a lot of different things yet it all came out at the same time for the four of us. Cocktails very tasty too

Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Excellent food cooked to perfection and good service. Will definitely be returning here soon .

Food service and cleanliness first class nothing was to much trouble the waitress explains all the dishes and says which is hot or mild

We had lunchtime Thalis which were freshly cooked and very tasty and great value. The starters consisted of three different dishes and 2 chutneys. The main course Thali had three dishes, chicken, lamb and potato served with rice and naan with a small dessert in a separate dish. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the Mumbai Tiffin Thali. Every element was well flavoured, the highlights being the rice, lassi, and perfectly cooked chicken.By the end I was quite full and l have a big appetite.I also thought that the meal was good value for money.I will be going back soon.

We popped in here for a quick lunch last Tuesday.We ordered the Vegetarian Thali & although the food was quite tasty, it was so small that you really couldn't tase it at all.I ordered a £15.95 bottle of wine, then waited five minutes or so, to be told that it wasn't available. No problem we said, how about the £17.95 bottle? That was delivered & was OK. We ate our food quickly, as there wasn't much of it & by that time we were the only diners there. We asked to see the bill.When we came to pay the bill, I paid it quickly, as we were keen to leave. After I'd paid, I read the receipt, only to find that we'd been charged £20 for the wine, instead of £17.95. A couple of pounds won't break the bank, but it's the overcharging principle that I disagree with. When I queried the overpricing, the waiter told me that his colleague the waitress should have told us that the wine prices had increased. "That may be so" I said "but I wasn't told, so I'd like a refund for the difference". With this he again exclaimed that his colleague the waitress should have told us that the wine prices had increased!Eventually I was repaid the difference & we left on fair terms.

This was a fabulous meal. The best Chilli Chicken I’ve ever tasted. Ran out of the Rioja on the menu and had to negotiate down the replacement bottle to the price of the original. There was some discussion on this before we came to an agreement. Nevertheless, will be back! Food was awesome!

Lovely Indian restaurant, spacious and the food was delicious. Loads of vegetarian and vegan options. We visited twice on a 3 day getaway!

Beautiful decor, great customer service. Food was freshly prepared, plated beautifully and the taste was true to its origin. We had a lovely experience and will definitely dine here again.

Great food, specially its proper Indian taste not like other say indian but you get india food in English style ( less spicy, less salt). First time I seen indian restaurant in country side like this which remind you indian taste.

We really enjoyed the food we ordered at Lunch time Saturday Afternoon. Mango Lassi & Fresh Fruit Juices. Samosa Chat,Maru Crispi Bhajia, Masala Dosa, Vegetarian Thali. Special Less spicy Veg Biriyani. When ordering they ask how spicy you want, If you don't know about any dish, they are so good they will explain in detail. I give 10 out of 10. One of the very good Restaurant in Hythe.

Exceptional food and service. Myself and my family had a really lovely evening and enjoyed the authentic Indian cuisine that was served. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any of my family and friends.

We happened upon this restaurant during an overnight stay in Hythe en route home after a holiday in France. I would reconnect this place, the food is fresh and authentic. The flavours in all the dishes were fantastic. The staff were friendly and clearly enthusiastic about the food they served. Our 8 year old also enjoyed his chicken Korma very much!

We visited for dinner as a treat whilst on holiday and oh my goodness what a treat. Fully authentic and the most wonderful food we have tasted. The staff couldn't have done more for us if they tried.

The food was delicious. Started with Pani Puri and Masala Dosa. Filled by the usual rice and bread but also Goan Fish Curry. Fish done to perfection with the blend of coconut and spices. I had two Pani Puris when the picture taken. I had to be shown how to eat it. Fab

We have been to this restaurant a few times now with the family and everybody enjoyed it a lot. Excellent choice of food for both meat-eaters and vegetarians and the staff are also kind and helpful.

Read the manu and turned up here on our way back home from beach. We are from Mumbai so know what good indian food is. The food was 5/5 when it came to authenticity and taste. Restaurant was bit quite but I blame hottest day of the year.

On first arriving we were slightly nervous about the menu but after the owner taking his time to ask us what we like and explain the menu fully we had a fantastic meal, the starters were all home made and possibly the best we have had in any Indian restaurant, I would urge you to give it a try , we will be back as you rarely see this hospitality

After hearing such wonderful things about the food. I was looking forward as i got an invite to have afternoon tea. While the ambiance and service was good. The food was cold. The beetroot cutlet was the star of the show but the potato vada was stone cold and samosa was just ok. I am not sure i will recommend till i have had a meal there.

Amazing and authentic Indian food ! Lovely ambience too. We all enjoyed it . They catered for our house party too and was lovely. Superb all around .

After reading all the great reviews we were so looking forward to a great indian meal but was greeted by an empty restaurant and no knowledge of our online booking. We proceeded to have the worst Indian meal we have ever had. The food was put on our table but we had to ask for plates which were then given to us but cold. All four in our party left large amounts of food and what we did eat was due to hunger. We then went to settle the bill where we were being overcharged.

When researching places to eat in Hythe, this one popped out because of the care the owner had taken in describing his offerings. Thalis are an array of regional food. We chose Mumbai, but there were many other regions of India that I would like to try another time. Don't be fooled by the exterior. The interior is lovely, like you are in some elegant private home. I would strongly encourage the owner to do something about the outside. for a Western clientele, it is not inviting. The owner is opening up another restaurant next door... this time Caribbean. I wish him well. Nice fellow.

Real Indian food, just as I remembered from my visits to India! Very good and friendly service. Will certainly go back again!

We visited the TiffinBox on a Friday night for a family meal. My parents had already been once and commented on how good the food was, and we weren’t disappointed! The thalis offer you a chance to try a range of lovely freshly prepared dishes, and there is even Indian wine on the drinks list which was a first for me! I’d recommend this restaurant if you’re after an authentic Indian meal in a peaceful, quiet atmosphere with friendly service

Visited this place due to the strong reviews but turned out to be probably the oddest eating out experience ever. The service was beyond slow in fact I think that the waiter may have been fired half way through as he disappeared. Must have been 30 to 40 minutes before we ordered our food and received drinks. Some of our food arrived about 50 minutes after that, apart from my daughters main meal and a couple of side dishes which we were told would be another minute or so. Anyway it finally arrived after we had eaten our food and we trying to find someone to pay the bill to which was clearly too late. There was only one other table in who walked out without paying 45 minutes after arriving due to lack of food arrival. We thought it strange that the place was so quiet when we arrived. We won't return as we now know.

We enjoyed vert friendly service from the owner of this authentic Indian Restaurant which specialises in Thali meals giving a great choice of curry varieties and tastes.

Superb meal, great service, ten out of ten. We will definitely be going back. They will tone the heat down to suit. Don’t be put off by the outside. Inside is really cosy.

Went back after a great meal last time and it repeated the same .. GREAT! It was quiet both times and I don't understand why. The food and service is impeccable (hygiene rating is high also I have checked). They adjust the 'heat', of the curry to how you like it and made a dish for us not on the menu, nothing is a problem. Not the most atactive building from the outside.... ignore that, lovely inside

We had family over from Germany, and have to say the food and service are excellent Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Also like the atmosphere Try the Indian wine as well Truly a cut above the average 5 star treatment

We had a delicious thali lunch today that was cooked to perfection and satisfyingly filling with a range of flavors, including the sweet and fragrant gulab jamun for desert. We were welcomed in by a lovely gentleman, who made us feel right at home and kindly didn't mind us taking our time even after the kitchen was closed. If I lived in Hythe I'd be back frequently, but since I don't, we'll make it a family tradition when I'm home visiting. Highly recommended.

A friend took me to the Tiffin Box recently. I was really impressed!!! The dosa was delicious and not something you see very often so I was pleased to find that. The okra were delicious and I have okra in every India restaurant I go to and am often disappointed, but these were great. The price was unbeatable and worth every penny. Thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back

This was our first visit , visit Hythe on a regular basis but never noticed this restaurant before, we arrived just before 14.30 just as the lunch service was ending but they very kindly accommodated my friend & I & boy were we surprised, we had the lunch time menu, freshly prepared & served hot, absolutely delicious, the service was first class with non intrusive background music.

Got a Thali meal on just eat. Got a lot more than I expected. Really good food definatly getting again!!

We don’t go out very often but this was our second visit and again did not disappoint. Lamb Rogan Josh and the fish curry was truly superb. Very tender meat cooked to perfection. Also the best Naan I’ve ever had. So light and tasty.

Looking for healthy authentic and very tasty Indian food then this is the place. Chefs are passionate about the food they produce. There is a range of fish and veggie options. Recommend the Thali which is a mix of several different dishes, so you get to try lots of flavours. Great Value also. Service very good, décor and atmosphere nice. I checked out the hygiene rating which is also good. This was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last.

We were taken there by a Sikkimese friend who recommended the dosas One was enough for a meal and with the combination of pickles and chutneys made a lovely lunch. One of our party had the set Thali menue which was delicious and really good value. I will go again!

What a great find. Not just another curry house. One of the dishes the restaurant offers are Thali meals, I hadn't heard of this before, it's a round steel plate containing an array of dishes in small bowls. The flavours were amazing, and we were asked what strength we'd like our food which was great. I'm a veggie and there were lots of options for me. The service was excellent, Edward made us very welcome and he's a great ambassador for the restaurant. When we're next in the area we'll definitely return.

This really is the only authentic Indian restaurant for miles around. The vegetarian Thali is absolutely delicious and such a bargain at only £7.95 at lunchtimes. Whatever you order , don't forget the Dosa! The Dosa is absolutely fantastic.

My boyfriend and I saw the brilliant reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to visit. Tasty, authentic food, hypnotic music and friendly service made our evening very enjoyable indeed.

The thali choices are great value at £14-16 and we could not manage to eat it all. Lovely chicken, lamb and King prawns. Nice ambience and excellent friendly service.

Went for a set menu lunch after reading some of these reviews. We were the only people in the restaurant, but we did not let that put us off! The chef came out to explain what the menu choice was that day. It was all delicious, a range of flavours and spices and the most incredible bread that was served with the dishes! Left feeling very full, and at just £8.95 such incredible value. It all tasted like it had been freshly cooked to order too. A real gem.

Pleasant interior, excellent friendly service and great food. Second visit, had starters of Kottu Roti, one vegetable and one chicken. Both very tasty and different than your usual Indian. I had Kerelan Duck Curry and wife had Chetlinard Chicken. Both had beautiful deep flavours and cooked to our preferred taste. Would highly recommend these dishes as well as Goan Fish Curry that I had on my first visit.

In Hythe High Street before 6 on a Thursday evening and found Tiffinbox open. Planned an Indian meal and served by friendly waiters. I had paneer naan which I have never had, even in other indian restaurants. My friend's son, close enough to be considered family, enjoyed Chicken Tikka. We both eat all our meals and that in it self was a compliment to the chef. Prices very reasonable, another plus point. Overall excellent!

We visited this restaurant tonight after reading great reviews and weren’t disappointed. The service was great and friendly, and our waiter helped us choose a great dish. We both agreed the food was the best curry we have ever had, and at a great price too!

Exceptional authentic Indian food. We have dined here a number of times now and the food has always been consistently excellent. The waiting staff are first class and on my last visit I met the chef. Go for one of the various Thalis and you will not be disappointed.

I’ve visited the Tiffinbox twice and have found the food and service to be excellent both times. I enjoy trying lots of different things so the thalis are brilliant for me - and extremely good value. Likewise the main dishes - which come with rice included. Lamb seekh kebabs, fried fish (part of the South Indian thali), and Goan fish curry were all particularly good on my most recent visit. The drinks menu includes lassis and classic Indian soft drinks like Thumbs Up. It feels authentic and refreshingly casual - no danger of spilling curry on white table cloths here, which is a bonus for me! Best-value Indian food in Hythe - and delicious too. I will definitely return and highly recommend.

Fantastic meal with my wife. We had the thali menu and shared two platters. It was really nice to have a selection of curries and sides to share. The waiter was friendly and gave us plenty of space to decide what we wanted. Would definitely go again.

Friendly service, tasty food and good value. Whilst many Indian restaurants offer a thali option, this restaurant offers thali (like Indian tapas) as its primary offering. I can't say of sure if that makes it more "authentic" but it certainly gives it that impression. And I recommend the mint soda to drink.

SUPERB !! BRILLIANT FOOD , SERVICE AND AMBEINCE !!Visited this place twice and completely loves this place from all aspects . Ambience - Unique Indian Ambience . Bamboo furniture. Lovely tables and bar. Small but very cosy and homely. Staff will quickly come and greet you. Food - The menu is the most unique in the world I think. Masala pan soda think is my favourite, Bombay thali , South Indian thali , chicken chettinad are amazing of the many other items in the menu. Not a huge list of dreadful never-heard-in-india items like many other pseudo-Indian restaurants have , they have a finely selected dishes to please your appetite. Got chance to speak to the chef and owner and both are lovely. Over all a GREAT Experience. Highly recommended!!

We happened across this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere for dinner whilst staying locally

We went into the Tiffin box by chance on Thursday lunchtime. We were made very welcome by the owner .He explained the menu to us as we had never had thali food before

The Tiffin Box is a real treat. The restaurant specialises in Thalis (the large plates that contain several dishes) that cover all tastes and one can choose the level of heat in the spices as well. For example, the Goan Thali has chicken, fish and duck dishes alongside tarka dal, rice, excellent light and crispy nan bread and a couple of sweet treats as well.

An Indian restaurant but not as we know it. Interesting menu and amazing authentic Indian food. If you are looking for the anglicized curry restaurant that most Indian restaurants serve then this is probably not for you. However if you want an authentic Indian meal then this restaurant is superb. Cannot fault it. To be fair the décor is a little 'tired' and is situated in a former pub. Don't let that put you off. I have been to India and the food in this restaurant compares with anything I had in India. The waiter could not be more pleasant and accommodating.

Fantastic, authentic Indian food of a type that you rarely find outside of India. Good value as well. You really must try this restaurant. The owner (Mihir) is a very warm and welcoming man who is interesting to talk to. Overall great experience.

We were greeted by the most friendly, smiley and delightful young man when we arrived! My wife and daughter both ordered a Thali. The meal arrived in separate dishes with a large selection of small plates like a tasting menu. It was beautifully presented and every dish tasted wonderful! Cannot recommend this place enough. Very unusual presentation and unusual mixture of different tastes and meals but all of it was delicious!

A friend and I had a meal there last night ( friend has Indian relatives) what a reverlation tried things that I have never had before ( fish curry, duck curry etc) unbelievable food. This restaurant should not be missed not your average Indian food. Will certainly be back even though quite a drive from where I live.

This is the best indian food place in UK. Me and my partner travel miles just to taste food, and this place blew our mind..This is what I would call as authentic Indian food ..If u haven't tried this and you talk about loving Indian food, you are incomplete.

We decided to go for an early evening meal on the last night of our holiday and were a bit surprised by this place! The restaurant is next to a very traditional pub (in the same building) and upstairs there is a hotel. Anyway, we ordered the Thali options (one veggie and one meat) almost like a tapas style, loads of little delicious dishes all for £14 each. We had too much food infact so only order if you have a big appetite!! The food was lovely and authentic and served by the sweetest waiter who kindly and attentively answered all my very specific questions about the food! A lovely meal, beautifully cooked and very reasonably priced. Thank you!

What a place!...Didnt know Hythe could provide such a place with authentic Indian food. Ambience, decor and the hospitality all were excellent! The guy who served food to us was so lovely too. Loved dinning there again. Recommend with 5 stars.

We tried to book for a Tuesday lunch using the compare the market 2 for 1 dining deal. I read the t and c carefully which clearly states can be used for lunch as well as evening. However the set lunch is not included in the deal but you cannot order from the main menu at lunchtime according to the young lady that I tried to book with. A word of warning to others who may not check first but travel to the restaurant and be disappointed.

This is about as authentic as you can get. Wonderful food and service - and a really stylish interior. If there's a group of you try to get the big table in it's own secluded part of the restaurant.

This Indian restaurant conveniently located in Hythe High Street is a gem. Good comprehensive menu with vegetarian options, diners have the option of requesting the spicyness/heat of their curry. We had a delightful waiter and well worth a return visit.
