Handily placed after walking from Whitby before setting off back. Lots of usual seafront overpriced prepacked sandwiches and small pieces of cake so tried the stone baked pizzas which are definitely overpriced for the size and quality. Lovely views from tables outside.

Came for pizza but only one left by 1pm. Very disappointing. Hot chocolate so small that it may as well be served in a shot glass.

Pit stop for coffee and cake. Walked from Whitby to Sandsend, stopped for a coffee here, staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the coffee was very nice and the Biscoff flapjack was amazing! Dog friendly too. Looked like a nice place for a pizza, had a proper pizza oven.

Perfect beach side cafe. Stopped for a cuppa and snack after a walk from Whitby, clean and modern, lovely staff and we shared the most delicious pizza, so good we ordered another! Also peanut flapjack needs to be tried. Well done The Tides 👍

Tasted like cheap powdered milk was used for the hot chocolate. Didn't taste of hot chocolate. Served in a paper cup. Have better from the free vending machine at work.

We ate here twice during our recent stay in Sandsend. The pizza is really nice. The first one we had was a cheese one and it had so much cheese on it, it was delicious. The second pizza was a meat one and I was disappointed in the lack of topping. There is a wait for the pizza's as they are made fresh but it isn't too long a wait. They aren't cheap but are worth the money and are a treat on holiday. When we visited there only seemed to be 2 young girls serving and they were rushed off their feet. Possibly need more staff, but don't let this put you off the pizzas are really nice.

Only had coffee and at £5 for 2, reasonable priced but the problem was they were very small and not as big as a usual small coffee. Also served in takeaway cups, which is a pet hate, altho on a positive note says on them made from plants. Quality was poor and the Americano was very weak, like drinking slightly flavoured hot water. The Latte like a cup of hot milk. Great location so such a shame.7

Amazing pizza, cooked fresh and made quickly. Excellent selection of desserts too. Will return to this cafe on our next trip here

We are locals and have visited a few times. However yesterday we were extremely disappointed and I'm afraid we will not visit you again. We called for ice cream as we usually do. I accept it was a busy bank holiday weekend and we were totally happy to queue. However the young girl serving really let your business down. When serving the ice cream she was putting her fingers in the tub to pick it up or pull it off the scoop when there was too much, and then she squashed the ice cream down onto the cones with her thumb. She wasn't even wearing gloves. It made me feel.quite sick. When we got the ice creams we had only been given about half a scoop on each one, and because she had had her fingers in the ice cream I really couldn't face eating mine. There seemed to be noone but her and another young girl around so couldn't bring it to management's attention. I'm really disappointed as we were regular customers and i have never seen anyone else ever do this when serving ice cream .

Overlooking the sea this is a must stop for every coffee lover. Quality & range of food is reasonably priced, served with a very high standard of service from the friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Got to be the best coffee is Sandsend, a bit of a limited food menu but the coffee is outstanding and the views are special.

We spent a few days in Yorkshire and without doubt this was our best coffee stop of our holiday. Really friendly staff, fab cakes and a lovely outside seating area to soak up the sun……even in March! Pity we don’t live nearer to be able to visit frequently 😢.

Perfect cafe right on the beach! Unfortunately we couldn’t try everything on the menu but what we did have was delicious. The cornflake cake was so good we bought more to take home 😍. If we were over that neck of the woods again we would try one of the freshly made pizzas as they looked amazing!

During our week long stay in Whitby, we walked down to this place three times. We sat outside (with the dog) and enjoyed fantastic pizza and cold beer. Service was great, as was the wonderful view. On the day that we brought my daughter, they were happy to do a non cheese pizza for her. I would certainly recommend this place.

This cafe has a great location in Sandsend, and is usually easier to get a seat at than others nearby, as well as having great and varied ice cream flavours. It’s just a shame that the servers were pretty grumpy!

Called in for a bite to eat after a bracing dog walk on the beach. Ordered a couple of pizzas & hot drinks. Service was quick & the pizzas were delicious. Reasonable prices, felt safe & dog friendly to boot. Highly recommended

Lovely coffees and cakes but sadly ends there. There were three couples who were there when we sat down and when each couple left no one came out to clean & sterilise tables or chairs. Two people sat at one of the tables totally unaware...

Visiting Sandsend , walkable on beach from Whitby, or by car, you must try the take away pizzas. At moment due to covid it's all takeaway but the best. Drinks and cakes etc available. Socially distanced queue, hand sanitizer, contactless payment, very well set up....

We went in for a tea and a Coffee. It was nice. The view was beautiful looking on to the beach and out to sea. The place is lovely and clean and the staff are lovely. Will be back.

A lovely cafe on Sandsend beach. It was a very blowy day, but we sat in a window seat of this lovely cafe and enjoyed hot chocolate and a fat rascal scone. The staff were friendly and courteous. A lovely place to people watch. We will be back.

Once again a lovely visit to times but this time got the opportunity to try out their popular pizzas and they did not disappoint!,,,, this is a really popular place now with the pizza oven so you might have a small wait for your food but the spot is lovely and it is well worth the waitYou could simply sit for hours looking out to the beautiful beach The vegan raspberry cake is my absolute favourite!,,,,, Coffee also great quality This is one of my happy places so twice a year I visit in the winter and summer and both times of year are equally great - this place has and continues to go from strength to strength

Great cafe. Been here twice before setting off for a long walk. Nice outside area to sit, or you can sit inside. Lovely view of the sea, even if you are sat inside. Staff were friendly. Nice atmosphere. I had one of the best hot chocolates I've had! Great decor, nice surf vibe. Cups had the Tides logo on them. Pretty cool.

This was our favourite café in Sandsend. We were staying in the village and had two lunches here. Pizzas freshly made in pizza oven. Small size and thin base but delicious. We had baby and dog with us and we ate inside both times but there is outside seating too. Staff friendly and didn't have to wait long for food. Also right by sea so good views.

Stopped by whilst we were on the beach for a much needed dose of caffeine, safe to say we found it here! The coffee was great and reasonably priced, there is also a great selection of cakes and ice creams to cater to all tastes!

This café was a lucky find on our day trip to the North Yorkshire coast. The pizzas were just as we like them, thin based with good quality toppings and baked in a proper pizza oven. Service was friendly and efficient.Our table looked out across the beach to the sea, a perfect view on a gorgeous September afternoon! Recommended.

Visited Tides again today, lovely ambiance, and staff, coffee and cake 🍰, after a long walk on the beach with family and dogs.

This beach cafe now has a pizza oven and produces excellent pizzas in super quick time. Great when you have 4 young hungry boys to feed fresh from rock pooling!

We are used to have great ice creams and coffee at tides so were fairly hopeful that the wood fired pizzas would be as good and we were not disappointed. For the money, they represent good value, especially as the venue is so good on the beach front. The pizzas were delivered promptly given they're cooked from fresh and were absolutely delicious.

Visited Tides Cafe last week, very busy but was to be expected considering the location and time of year. We had some delicious pizza, and then afterwards we had some lovely "scallywags" (we were told they can't be named F** R****LS due to Betty's and legal reasons... what a scandal, we love a scandal!). My friend also enjoyed an ice cream on the way out - who knew cheekee cherry and ticklee toffee would make such a nice flavour combination?! Much better than boring old vanilla if you ask me.

Great coffee and really tasty bacon sandwich while sat in the sunshine ... perfect! Very reasonably priced too we will be returning soon!

Sitting on the beach with favourite raspberry crumble cake 🍰- you have to try this! And a great coffee- hard to beat! They are also making handmade pizzas that look delicious!! Will be trying this next time for sure

We visited Tides for a post-beach coffee and ice cream daily during our holiday to Sandsend and ate pizza there on three occasions. The coffee is the best in the town. Freshly roasted and the perfect barista style flat white. A fab selection of ice creams. The most wonderful views. The best thing is the new addition of a pizza oven. Really incredible authentic pizzas with great toppings. The best we’ve had! Friendly service too. What an asset to Sandsend?! We can’t wait to return on our next trip.

Stopped here recently as the mother in law wanted a base whilst we went on the beach. She has limited mobility so couldn't come on the beach but wanted to look out to sea with a decent brew.

Our favourite place for coffee and cake after a walk on the beach Staff are always friendly and welcoming with extension lovely and adding very nice pizzas to the menu.

We called for one drink and a toilet visit and ended up staying over an hour because it was so good. Freshly prepared pizza, I watch them roll our pizza doe, load it and then slide it into their genuine pizza over. What came to our table was the best pizza we have ever had. Add to that the seafront view, the drinks, the cakes and he friendly and professional staff - you have the perfect combination. We've been before and we will be back again, keep up the good work! (When I complemented the owner he said "please spread the word." So here it is!

We have been coming here for their excellent coffee for several years. But the shop has been much enlarged (very elegantly) and has a new pizza oven. We had two pizzas (margarita and Pepperoni) at the weekend which were simply excellent. Beautiful dough, thinly made with perfectly crispy baking, and great fresh toppings.

Had two flat white coffees which were nice and strong, just how we like them. Lovely view overlooking the beach. Cakes look good too.

First time we have visited here. What a nice dog friendly cafe,we had a coffee, a tea, a cheese scone & a rascal scone,all were excellent, the staff were friendly & helpful.Will visit again when on holiday next time.

Visited this beach shop/ cafe 3 times during our week’s stay in Whitby. The first time was after having walked from Whitby to Sandsend. We decided to have a coffee and sat outside on the terrace. The coffee was so good we decided to have another before returning to Whitby. Called in for coffee on two further occasions because we didn’t find coffee to match that of TIDES. Well done!

Coffee is always great and the view up the beach is amazing. Tables outside are in high demand but worth it if you can get one.

One of the best cakes I have had and believe me I have had a few I had the vegan raspberry and almond crumble slice and it was sublime,,!!!!!! Lovely coffee with a barista flourish !,, absolutely lovely location on the beach - it was a great pit stop on a lovely sunny mild day - will definitely visit again

We visit Tides regularly (at least twice per month) and enjoy the coffee and bacon sandwiches. Owner and staff always friendly whatever the weather and however busy they are.

They say excellent customer service is all about going the extra yard and beating a customer's expectation.

We called as a group of 6 after walking from Whitby. A lovely cafe for a cuppa and cake, it is clean, cosy looking out to sea, friendly staff, welcoming. Nice coffee great service with a smile.

We needed a caffeine fix after walking our Welsh terrier and noticed this cafe had tables and chairs outside ,set back from the street, with a lovely sea view .

Another great stop at this little gem of a place. The staff are friendly and efficient, the price is reasonable and the views are amazing!

The coffee was great and the view as well. I never had a topping pattern of a swan before! I was in awe since I'm sculpting a swan out of marble for 7 years now for the grave of my parents and just now it's coming to an end (and then I get a latte with a swan in the froth). They also had a lot of delicious cakes and you could even rent a canoe. Perfect place!

Dropped into Tides after being let down by the Sandside cafe up the road (rude, smug staff, early closing) and was delighted to be served by a lovely chatty young lady, who brought our coffees out onto the terrace for us. Lovely views of the river and sea, watching the children playing in the sun. Quite idyllic. Nice coffee, nice staff - we will be back, thank you.

We walked from Whitby to Sands end and were ready for a welcome drink. Loads of selection spoilt for choice. Bi fold doors were open and it was lovely to sit looking out to sea. Although the staff are very friendly and the place is really clean I have one complaint. They need cloches over their extensive range of cakes which look very inviting but there were at least three large bluebottle flies, flying around (and landing on them) which was rather off putting.

Popped into this lovely little cafe with a fab view to break up our walk. Nice and friendly and all the food being served looked delicious. My only complaint was that there's far too many flavours of ice-cream you can't make your mind up if you're me. Nice little cafe stop worth a visit.

Weve been here a couple of times now and couldn't recommend it more as a great place to start a lovely day at Sandsend. Lovely staff, fab bacon buns and brilliant for our dog too.

Very nice coffee (and tea!) lovely ice cream with a good selection of flavours and the fat rascals are delicious! The other home made cakes look very good too!

Wir hatten Glück, aneinem sonnig-stürmischen Tag noch einen Platz zu ergattern. Wir bestellten Latte Macchiato, Espresso und Shortbread. Kaffee und Kuchen waren wunderbar, und die hier häufiger kommentierte Unfreundlichkeit konnten wir absolut nicht feststellen. Auch die bemängelten "höheren Kosten" für Kaffee und Kuchen können wir nicht nachempfinden, da es uns gut geschmeckt hat, der Service freundlich war und wir eine sehr erholsame Stunde in einem Cafe mit sehr schöner Lage verbracht haben.

This is a modern cafe which most people will love, although maybe with it being in Sandsend (which is very quaint) it may be a tad out of place for some!

Caminamos de Whitby a Sandsend y paramos aquí para una taza de café y un pastel. Era una tienda de té encantadora con vistas impresionantes de la hermosa playa de arena. Nos encontramos dos veces en la semana y probamos la scallywag cornflake quebradiza, y tarta, además de menaje para preparar té y chocolate caliente. Todos eran encantadores. Sin duda volveremos cuando estábamos en la zona.

We arrived at tides in the middle of a lovely 6mile walk along from Whitby to Sandsend and back. Lovely tea shop, fantastic views. Staff lovely and smiling. Introduced us to scallywags, lovely Yorkshire treat, like a flat scone.

Sat on the terrace with the dogs. Had a lovely breakfast after walking on the beach. Clean,friendly service and delicious food. Sells a range of buckets and spades etc but also very good food.

This is basically a beach shop combined with hot and cold drinks plus snacks .The staff who looked after us were both young and helpful .We highly recommend both the tea and the coffee .You can either sit inside or outside or take drinks away to the beach .

Tides has the best ice cream in the world highly recommend by me and my sister works there so yeah. Do well try ya best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love this place! Always come with my little boy after walks on the beach! The lady that works here is always very chatty and friendly and they make great coffee! X

Wanted to name this review 'Service without a smile' but can see someone's already beaten me to it. Maybe the young waitress needs to pursue a new career path. I asked if they served cream tea (which they don't, fair enough) but the surly attitude of the waitress was enough to put us off any of the other dried up looking offerings. Cafe across the road far superior. Avoid.

Situated on the prom in the idyllic village of Sandsend this is a tidy little cafe with seating inside and out. In addition to serving the usual cafe fare they supply necessary supplies for those coming to spend some time on the very nice beach,They also serve excellent Mr Moo's ice cream.

Went here for a cup of tea and cake before walking on the beach. Lovely cakes, all looked home made. Fantastic location to watch the sea on a chilly March day. Very clean cafe. Helpful staff. The ice creams looked good too.

We had eaten lunch and wanted something nice for afters. Needing something on the go while walking went in for a chocolate bar and came out with cornflake pie and rocky road both lovely.

Called in with my family and dog for a drink and snack after a long walk on the beach, and really like this place.Very good coffee, varied choice of soft drinks, lots of flavours of ice cream, and a wide selection of nice cakes and pastries, as well. They are also licensed, so sell cold beers for those warmer days as well.There is a bowl of water for thirsty dogs, and plenty of outside seating to rest with your pet after a long beach walk, and watch the world go by for a while.Nice friendly folks to chat to as well, and I would certainly call again next time in Sandsend.

It's nice to go into a beech side coffee shop where they obviously care about how nice the coffee is they prepare.They were very accommodating and when I asked for a white Americans made with warm milk they made it perfectly. They have a very good selection of soft drinks, wine and beer.The tray bake cakes are nice as well.They even sell everything your likely to want on the beech.I will definitely be going here again and will next time sample their sausage rolls.

After a walk along the lovely Sandsend beach, Tides is a brilliant place to warm up with hot drink. There is inside and outside seating, with gorgeous views of coastline down to Whitby. The service is really friendly and efficient. I will definitely be visiting again.

Had a great mocha and fat rascal here. Really amazing view over sands end beach. We visited over the Christmas hols and they were only selling drinks and cakes with a small range of snacks but this might have been a seasonal thing. Would highly recommend after a walk on this amazing beach, watch out for the tide here though it does come all the way in!

Called here for two lattes and two soft drinks. Lovely, friendly service, great coffee. Will definitely call in again.
