Tides Restaurant in Worthing

Wife and I took my mother out for a birthday lunch. I was initially worried this place was “nothing special” but hey, not so! We all had different starters and mains and everything was really good quality and decent portion; we left full, satisfied and content. Sooo much better than pub grub! Come again? Definitely. Oh, and did I mention the service was great?

Fresh products, homemade cuisine, clean place and the staff are charming.

Went to lunch today Monday and it was as well I booked a table because it was full to capacity. Unusual items on the menu, Skate Wings! Never seen that before. I had the fish pie, it was superb. Not piled with potato, all fish and prawns, buttery new potatoes served separately along with vegetables. Husband had Fish and Chips, girlfriend had the Scampi and her husband the Curry which I was very tempted to have. Followed by coffee. Could not fault it. Very friendly helpful staff. Easy parking. Very enjoyable.

We had the xmas menu. I can't review the food listed here because they are not listed on our menu. I had the lamb, but as it was very thick, it was not cooked. It was quickly replaced and it was very good. The starter was cheddar mushrooms was very good.

First time visiting today. The ladies there are lovely. Best bacon sandwich I’ve ever had. Lovely cup Of tea. Extremely pleased and will definitely go there again.

Stopped here as found on Google with 4.6🌟 Very unassuming and small restaurant, but none the less well equipped maximising space with a sun room out front with heaters as well as outside seating. As we had just turned up, we were informed that the only space was in the sun room, and I actually preferred this as we have one guest attending with in a wheelchair. We sat down and got ourselves comfy. I popped inside to get some menus. This was when I had been informed it was table service! Oops! We decided on drinks and food fairly quickly, but it took a little while to have the order taken, once it was the drinks arrived not long after. Sadly, we did wait a very long time on our food to come, with no music or background noise it felt even longer, drinks were long finished by the time the food arrived with no offer for any more, never mind though.. the food was very nice indeed, far exceeded my expectations on what looked to be a little "corner café", good portion sizes, well cooked and reasonably priced. It is a shame about how long the wait although I over heard a waitress speaking to another table and saying "this is not our usual service speed" so maybe there way a trainee in the kitchen? 🤷‍♀️ Plates quickly cleared after I had stacked them then we had to wait for our dessert board as it was at another table. We all had dessert each and by this point it was closing time 3pm, we made our exit. Thank you to the ladies/gents that served us, we hope to see you again

Went to Tides mid week lunchtime with my wife and Mother. All three of us had excellent well prepared and presented meals followed by deserts, again excellent. We,ll definitely return and recommend. 😁👍

Back again from Brum. Third visit with my friend Mum and Dad who live local. I had scampi and chips again...lovely but always a struggle to finish 10 pieces with chips so left a few chips, Dad loved his Veg Thai Curry, Mum said chicken sweet and sour from specials board was beautiful and my friend is a veggie so asked for ham egg and chips dinner but swap ham for a vegan sausage and they were happy to accommodate this. Beautiful food verdict from us all again. I see my TripAdvisor review from my last visit in Sept is on the home page of your lovely new website. Mum and Dad have booked for Christmas too. I will see you when I am back down south for sure.

I live in Birmingham and visited today for the second time with my Dad who lives local and my friend. Dad had the ham egg and chips, i had scampi and chips and my friend had vegan sausage and fried onion which they agreed to do on granary sandwich. Clean plates all round again.My friend would love to know if you can buy these vegan sausages because they were superb..can you? Well done Tides..keep up the good work.I will be back next time i visit my family 🙂

Good food, fair prices, very pleasant staff

Lovely place. I had a full English breakfast and my friend had eggs and smoked salmon. Both were delicious. The food was nicely presented too, good quality sausage and granary bread. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Good value especially for the quality of food. Will return.

Had a fabulous lunch for my Uncles Birthday, friendly and outstanding service. Outstanding food and will definitely go back as had the chicken, ham and leek pie and it was delicious, followed by an amazing banoffee pie. Highly recommend.

The best chicken, ham and leak pie I've ever tasted. The restaurant was busy, hence the loss of one star for service. It's clearly very popular, locals are referred to by name. Excellent food, reasonable prices. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to eat there.

Friday night wedding anniversary dinner. Had two courses. That was all that we could manage. Food was excellent as always . By far one of the best restaurants in Worthing. A little hidden gem. Waiting staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Thanks for a really lovely evening.

Only ever visited for breakfast. But service good, breakfast good quality and reasonably priced. Coffee good too. Nice atmosphere. Strange location but it makes up in its food.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Goring by Sea nestled amongst residential properties. I have been coming here for the last 8 years and have never been disappointed. The meals are cooked fresh and the menus regularly change and the price is very reasonable compared with Worthing town. The wine list is also excellent.

Absolutely excellent! From the moment I phoned I knew that Tides would be the right outside caterers for us! The food was delivered, set out and cleared as requested. Everyone remarked on the high quality and volume, so much so everyone took food home! My grandchildren adored the Lemon Drizzle cake, the vegans and vegetarians loved their food. Thank you so much Ali it meant a lot to us as you know x

We visited Tides for breakfast on my wife's birthday, a Tuesday morning, the service was friendly, the food tasty, there was a birthday sausage and there was a good atmosphere. A lovely local eatery.

Very nice, friendly welcome and service. Nice busy atmosphere in a small place. The food however was excellent the beef bourguignon comes highly recommend as is the Torbay Sole. If your in the area, book first as there aren't many tables, go and try.

The Benedict breakfasts are quite good, plenty of ham in the Eggs Benedict and the sausage on the Tides Benedict was very flavorful. Lattes were well done. We did feel ignored more than once when staff were chatting behind the counter.

Been a few times now, food is superb both meals as brunch. I gave coeliac disease and there are always several gluten free options for me to chose from which is often not the case in many restaurants

Lovely homely place very pleasant service .

We came in the summer and loved it - delicious mixed seafood and it was yummy. Sadly today ordered the monkfish fillet - it was six tiny pieces of fish not a fillet as described on the specials board. The lovely waitress was so apologetic and took £2 off. Would be interested to know the owners views about this

Went to Tides for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday and as I have noted before, the specials are great value and the ‘favourites’ are always beautifully presented. Tides has that ‘family’ feel.

Tides is a true gem. A great varied menu with interesting fish and meat dishes. The homemade chicken and tarragon pies were perfectly filled and the pastry was crunchy, the pear and almond tart was exquisite. This was our first of many visits we suspect, a definite 10/10. Well done Tides!

Visited today for lunch without booking, an older lady with glasses attended to us & advised that they were extremely busy but there was a table located in the conservatory. We sat down and we’re passed the menus, within a minute the same lady asked for our drink order which we gave, she then asked if we had chosen, of which I had but my partner wanted a few minutes. She stated quite abruptly that she was ‘rushing us’ as they had a party of 11 due in & if we didn’t order we’d have a very long wait. Okay, I get that a large party was due to arrive but they actually didn’t arrive until 15 minutes after we had ordered a sandwich & Welsh rarebit. Simply thought her abruptness was out of place and ruined our experience. The younger lady with glasses who bought our food was pleasant and made us feel welcome. Shame the other lady didn’t. Food was lovely but sadly we won’t be returning.

I booked for 3 people for lunch on a Friday and the service was great. The food, 2 beef bourgogne and a Vegetable Omelette with Chorizo was ok. Good value and very popular.

Food, service and ambience was excellent. The halibut and hake that we had was cooked to perfection. The chef really knew what he was doing. Also starters very nice. 10 out of 10. We will return.

Wanted to take my daughter for a hot chocolate, was told to sit in the conservatory then someone would come and take our drinks order. 20 mins later nobody had come out, and the place wasn’t even busy. So we decided to just leave and go somewhere else.

My party of 12 for lunch was superb. All meals were hot, tasty, nicely presented and came out at once. The friendlyservice was also excellent. Cannot find fault and will definitely be back.

Visited with a friend for a light lunch and had the bacon brie and cranberry ciabatta . Plenty of filling and a good sized salad in the side, friendly staff. Looking forward to returning to try a bigger meal next time

A good breakfast and lovely staff

Came in today with my friend and our 4 children and were served by an older lady with glasses didn’t get her name but she was rude as hell spoke to us like we weren’t capable of understanding anything absolutely vile attitude and over priced milkshakes which were basic powder made, won’t be back.

As you know by now I do enjoy a good cup of coffee, but this was like dish water, never again I couldn’t drink it, it was stale tasteless …… please up grade your coffee or Send staff on a barista course

Its an unusual little place that we just stopped at for a cheeky work lunch..inside,outside and conservatory tables..the staff were lovely and the food was great...we had a great lunch.

We turned up late practically on last food orders but they didn't flinch and welcomed us in. Great food with fast friendly service. Dog friendly area too which is in an enclosed sheltered area on the actual entrance almost like a conservatory but with air flow, like been outside but without the wind and rain

Stopped here for lunch with some cycling friends. We had not booked and the cafe was busy but we sat at the outside tables and received excellent service. Staff were very friendly and the food was superb, nicely presented and good value for money. Would highly recommend and I'm sure we will visit again when cycling in the area.

Tides is my favourite place to go for a quality well cooked delicious breakfast. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is immaculately clean. I do not live locally but I will go out of my way to dine there as in my opinion their breakfasts are the best! I highly recommend it. Well done the team at Tides you do an amazing job! First time here and it was packed on a Thursday lunch so a good job we'd booked but well worth it. Brilliant home cooked food the pie and chips I had was to die for! Piping hot and delicious with lots of chunky chicken and ham. Others had great food too. Desserts all home made and great.

Really lovely little restaurant. It is quite busy so booking is a must as venue is not huge. Food is very good, but smaller choices than some eating places. They do monthly special events ie Valentine's day which is 2 nights. Would definitely go there again
