I was down from London, staying in Worthing with my bestie for the weekend. We had a table booked for Sunday lunch. The staff and service were fabulous. The food, Fish and Chips and the additional trimmings was just delicious, the presentation amazing. The portion sizes are a fantastic added bonus. As soon as I arrive in Worthing, my friend books us a table purely because your restaurant is second to none! We are never disappointed. The food is so lovely I'm spoilt by it. There's no comparison in London! Extra compliments to head chef Jimmy. Congratulations on your food sir. Well done to the whole team. Thank you from Rose and Dee for our beautiful lunch. See you again soon!

Great choice. Mid price fish n chips for a real restaurant feel. We came late for the last lunch sitting but weren't rushed. Grilled fish was divine. Batter on other fish was a light colour and the chips weren't small fries or chunky chips, something perfect in between with a really pale fry that tasted awesome. It strikes me now how the place didn't smell. Spoke to them lovely owner who I asked about the history of the place. Beloved to the grandparents so hopefully it'll get passed down the same way. Do give this place a visit. Worth a visit, fits in well with the community and employs run keen people happy to serve

Love this place. We travel to Worthing sometimes, for business, usually on a Thursday. We'd tried other Fish and chip shops nearby, which were disappointing. Chipwicks is in a league of it's own. Food is excellent, offering so much more than a regular fish and chip shop. The first time, I had Scallops with bacon, delicious. The menu is so different, never boring. Staff are just great, Chipwicks is still family run, and the staff all feel part of that family. Highly recommended

Meh. 4pm. Rang to order, girl said she can't take orders over the phone, but they weren't busy, have to use website or app. Order online, register new account, first available collection in 40 mins time. Arrived on time, chap on counter was on the phone passionately selling the attributes of specific menu items. Establish who I am, eventually, no; I have not got my code as left phone in car, do I "have a surname" etc etc. Food not boxed and ready for collection, its now 4.44pm. They hurredly box items, out the door 4.50pm. Return home, cold chips, crispy thin left over bits really, not sure how long they were dwelling in the 'hot' cabinet before our collection. Tartare sauce lovely, fish was nice, sausages & saveloy large and satisfactory, volume of food was ok, bit punchy on price but isnt everything these days.... Certainly not "cooked to order" as the girl on phone had suggested. All pretty ordinary / mediocre for £30 to be honest!

So the scallops were amazing, and the portion size excellent. The batter on the cod was crispy and thin, no stodge here at all. The cod itself was hot, done just right. But... the chips were good, but why ask if I want salt and vinegar on my chips if you're not going to put it on? I'd driven away with the takeaway, to find a good place to park and it was very disappointing not to have salted chips. The staff are bright and breezy, and very helpful. I will go back, because the food is so good, but I'll watch like a hawk for the salt and vinegar next time... Update: eat in, is the only thing I can say! The staff are brilliant, you get to put your own salt on, and the food is fabulous. I come here regularly now, that says it all. Best fish and chips in the county, hands down. And after a gap of six weeks I'm delighted to say their standard is maintained, still the best fish and chips in Sussex! Further update: maintaining its high standard, I'm pleased to say. Everything freshly cooked, batter is brilliant! Refurb is great, the menu is updated with some brilliant dishes of the day. Honestly, this place goes from strength to strength!

Visited the Chipwick fish and chips restaurant on the 22/09/24 for a meal whilst on holiday. Met by extremely friendly staff member who gave us a table in the restaurant. Had regular Cod and Chips and the Thai fish cake and new potatoes, and the curry sauce. Arrived promptly and it looked amazing 🤩 Portions were plentiful and looked well presented. Both meals were very good. I did mention to a staff member that it was the best cod and chips I've ever eaten. The curry sauce was again some of the best. Fruity with a nice bite Had some desserts which were also spot on I would definitely return without any hesitation. Thoroughly recommend for the best fish and chips in Worthing 😋👍

We knew we just had to try the iconic Chipwick, and boy were we disappointed when we did... Because now no other fish and chips will ever compare!! Chipwick is an award winning chippy for a reason: a sensational menu, all cooked to perfection whether dining in or taking away, with a fantastic efficient and friendly staff to match. Picking up your fish and chips has never been such a rave! The atmosphere is a buzz as locals from towns over flood to this Worthing institution for an elevation of the nation's favourite. My favourite was the Thai Fish Cake; fatty, spicy, and fresh, this fishcake can take on some of the cuisine served in local Thai restaurants! The fish, chicken, brie bites and chips are all fried to perfection. I challenge anyone to find a better fish and chip shop in Worthing, Sussex, the South coast!!

I had the pleasure to both eat in and take away. I can confidently say this is the best fish and chips shop i have ever stepped in. The best thing is that the quality is consistently high. Even in a day when thye are not at the best, the quality is still better than any other fish and chips i ever had, and when it is at their best it is something just indescribable. The chips always have crunchi edges without being hard and are soft inside. The fish is always fresh (never smelled ammonia) and the batter is light and crisp. The oil used is always clean as you never smell that bad "old oil" sence. The food is perfectly fried, never soggy or oily. It is a blessing every time. I wish you all the best and thank you for being so amazing. Your food is like poetry. Then talking about the peole working here, they are always estremely polite, efficient and welcoming. Shout out to all the staff, you are as amazing as the food.

My friends had come down from London for a day at the seaside. In the early evening we decided on fish and chips for dinner. I managed to book a table at short notice. Being a group of 7 I knew it was a risk as the place is very popular. The staff managed to work it out and fit us in. I was delighted! We felt welcomed and were sat at a booth inside the restaurant. The service was warm and welcoming we had 4 children with us and they were all catered for. The food was amazing. If you want a sit down fish and chips by the coast, this is the place to go. I had the cod and chips and fresh tartare sauce. The batter was light and crisp not at all greasy with creamy flaky cod fish on the inside and the double cooked chips were perfectly cooked crisp on outside and light and fluffy on the inside. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food and on clearing her plate, my 8 year old Daughter declared that the chips were better than McDonalds. Coming from her that was the best complement! I can’t wait to go back. It’s the best fish and chips. Thanks to all the staff there, you really made our day!

We wasn’t happy with the amount of time we had to wait for our food, we ordered our food from the self service machine, which I would of thought would be a quicker option, but after numerous people coming and going who ordered at the till after us, my husband asked where our order was, to be told ‘it’s over there’ after waiting a further 5/10 minutes the chef called my husband over and sorted it out immediately, which was very kind of him, because sadly the young girl and guy behind the counter didn’t do anything to try and resolve the matter. We waited approximately 30 minutes.

This evening we had a takeaway: Whitebait, calamary, reg chips, reg haddock, tartare sauce, thai fish cake. £39 of order. We were very happy to be back and using Chipwick, as we leave not too far. Haddock, whitebait and tartare sauce fresh. I’m sure even the other two items were fresh as well. Too fresh that the fishcake was raw inside: homemade for sure but just a fish+mash potatoes patty big like an adult hand and uncooked. The calamari were way too much oily that to try to eat it we started to take out the coating. I’m sure the young chef was feeling the pressure of a 7pm rush (5 orders before us) but this is not a justification for cooking a raw dish and one that is too oily. Maybe the oil wasn't ready or some new oil had been added to the fryer? You don't expect this service from an award-winning restaurant. When called, the staff was kind when they offered us to prepare another portion of fishcake, which we refused only to avoid going out in the rain to get it. Another complaint is that the female staff at the till should have their hair tied up, not touch it in front of customers and then prepare food without washing their hands. It is not a good practice in a food area!!! Chipwick as a restaurant has not lost us as customers (the fish is always fresh not frozen!) but we hope, next time, to find all the food at the best standards that have characterized this place all these years.

We eat out a lot, but both agreed this was the best food we had eaten for as long as we could remember (including a couple of very expensive recent meals). One of us had traditional cod, chips and mushy peas while the other had the special that was baked cod, coconut potatoes and chorizo with broccoli. The first you might expect to be perfect, but the special consisted of soft flakey cod, new potatoes that tasted as if they were fresh from the ground, cooked to perfection, and broccoli that was equally perfectly prepared and melted in the mouth. Great Picpoul too from the wine list. Superb friendly service and the bill was less than we thought it would be. A good reason to go back to Worthing soon!

Visited here this week and asked for a smaller portion. I was informed by a female waitress that I could have the OAP lunch special even though I wasn't an OAP. I thought this sounded perfect. I was informed that it would be a smaller portion (and it was). I think it was £12.95. I was then charged for mushy peas and a cup of tea on top of that which brought my total lunch to a cost of more than the normal (big)lunch special which is £15.95 and includes the mushy peas and tea. So for having a much smaller portion of fish and chips, I ended up paying more than had I just ordered the normal lunch special. This seemed completely wrong and I think that the OAPs around me probably got their fish and chips, mushy peas and tea for £12.95 all in. So I wasn't happy at all and should have said something at the time - I think the waitress knew what she had done. So yes, the food was tasty - its certainly not a cheap lunch and I do think the portions could be better sized for those that don't want a colossal amount.

Well I was very disappointed this evening. First time back after your refit which does look good. However, being a fan of your fish and chips originally, not this time unfortunately. The cod was greasy and had way too much batter. The chips were old and didn't taste fresh at all. Not the chipwick quality I am used to. Very disappointed indeed 😞

One of the best Fish and Chip have had in years. We had Calamari as a starter and Fish an Chips. It was coated in a very light batter and could feel was fried in a fresh oil. Strongly recommend, although not local but definitely would drive extra miles if we want to have Fish and Chips. Very clean and lovely and helpful staff

> I was staying at a friends and came in for fish and chips on Sunday. The young man who waited on our table was pleasant informative and helpful. The food was excellent and came freshly cooked in a timely fashion and was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be returning when I visit my friend again best fish and chips I’ve ever had in the uk

Five of us enjoyed some excellent food, the fish and chips were very good. Not greasy, and freshly cooked so very appetising and a pleasure to eat. Portion sizes were generous. We were well looked after by the staff, so overall an excellent experience.

The best fry-up in Worthing. Huge choice, perfectly cooked and lovely staff in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. They do the best fried bread I've ever had anywhere.

Disappointed with the meal as everything was very dry and overcooked. Unfortunately it’s not the first time we have not been happy here. Will definitely give it a miss for a while in the hope it will improve. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Previous occasion was the food didn’t come out warm enough despite meals being sent back twice. Again restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Yes we did receive money off last time for our complaints but it just ruins our experience and isn’t any consolation really. Let’s hope things get better as I would really want that being that you’re just round the corner from where I live.

After a busy day at work I needed a good dinner so remembering my last visit I made a bee-line to Thieves. I had a Cheese & Bacon Burger (beef patty with beechwood-smoked streaky bacon, Barber's 1833 Vintage Cheddar, coleslaw and lettuce, served in a seeded bun) totally delicious. Although the patty was a small, thin thing it had plenty of flavour and it didn’t seem too thin like in other places I’ve been to. It tasted great with the cheese and coleslaw, and good bacon. I didn’t know about the ‘£14 burger and a beer’ offer when I came in, and the beer I ordered originally wasn’t in that offer, but the very friendly and helpful barman informed me and suggested a beer that was in the offer, I took his recommendation and have no regrets about it! Good customer service there Thieves, wish I knew his name to give a shout-out here
