During our stay at premier inn Southampton airport, we chose to have dinner in the thyme restaurant here. Our waiter was Jason who made us feel comfortable and was very respectful and accommodating, our little girl had mac'n'cheese while we had steak cooked by Chaz who was the chef on this night. As a trained chef myself i absolutely salute Chaz on how well he cooked a rare and a blue steak would definitely eat here again. Ps... my little girl ate the entire meal so extra bonus.

Can it get worse after last night's meal review thought it might be better for breakfast, joke. Asked for orange juice no. There's a shortage (who knew this) the cooked breakfast bacon like cardboard, black pudding black because it was burnt And sausage you needed hacksaw to get through skin. Decided to ask at reception if there was local shop for paper. Blank stare and don't know. Asked for feedback form and manager said ask in restaurant. Spoke to someone same response. Said manager was on shift last nitute he must have been one of them hiding Don't waste your money coming here for food I have emailed premier inn directly but don't hold much hope of a response

I stay at the Prem here regularly. The food had previously been ok here but I'd started going elsewhere as it was just that, ok. Last week I couldn't be bothered to go out, so thought I'd try again and wish I hadn't bothered. The staff here used to be one of the saving graces but not any more. They all used to be smiley and happy but were neutral at best. Don't get me wrong, not rude just obviously not happy and trying to deal with it. That is because there are not enough of them, they are over extended by a huge margin. Two were running the whole restaurant, were going flat out, never stopped and were walking at speed but all customers had long waits for drinks and food. Food was below average and my ordered Sirloin was a Rump. I went out the following two nights as there are a plethora of really good restaurants across the road, past the cinema steps and round the corner. Called in for a drink on the way back and the young lady serving returned by polite smile with a withering look and shoved my drink at me. Won't be back anytime soon. To be fair, the breakfasts here are always reasonable and were again this time. No reflection on the hotel or hotel staff which was/were fine.

First night of staying at the Inn decided to go with the offer of 2 course dinner with drink and full breakfast for £25 each. What a expensive mistake! Hubby got for his starters 5 very small chicken pieces with a drizzle of barbecue sauce. He didn’t like the dip. I ordered cheese and onion tart. It was “ presented” with rocket leaves chucked on top. It was the smallest starters ever! It didn’t taste of anything. For mains hubby had burger which was very dry and I had the gammon. Wasn’t impressed at all. The gammon was “wet”. Not impressed by the breakfast either. Not much of anything really. Bacon hard and cold. Beans cold. Eggs hard. The toast takes forever to do! What a waste of money! Mad at myself for spending that much on a very poor meal.

I cannot fault the breakfast served at this restaurant. We paid for full English on both mornings and there was a huge selection of hot and cold items. The staff were cordial and all smiles, even at silly o clock in the morning and we the organisation of the whole area was excellent. The evening however, brings about a whole different light! The staff once again were excellent but after taking our order, it took ten minutes before the waitress returned to let us know that they had no pizzas left, so my daughter reordered her main. Ten minutes later they appear again and tell us they have no mac and cheese left either. So unfortunately, my daughter ended up eating something she didn't even want. The food arrived within 20 minutes but my curry was lukewarm and the rice was hard and cold. My two daughters ate the same penne pasta dish and neither could finish it as it was watery and cold. This is something that needs serious work, if the communication between the kitchen and waiting staff improved and the menu was re-worked, this would be an excellent restaurant.

Have eaten in this restaurant several times before with no problems but on this occasion, maybe because the hotel was full & restaurant very busy, this was not the best.Table had been booked for 8:00pm on arriving told no reservation for us & they were busy but upon telling them I had the reservation paperwork in my room they found us a table. Had to move tables as the first one unsteady orders taken OK drinks & starter arrived then it went downhill. Waited ¾ hour for main courses just about to complain when waiter said sorry about the wait it will be out in 5 minutes. My steak pudding looked & tasted like it had been blasted in the micro wave perhaps to save time, but I had waited that long I just wanted something to eat & just used the extra gravy to soften the crust. We had another wait of 20 minutes for them to bring out a cold dessert.Breakfast Ok but there again it was a buffet.Perhaps they just had a bad night but with a cinema complex with 20 restaurants opening up across the street they will have to up their game if they want the hotel guests to eat in.On the plus side staff were friendly.

We have eaten at this restaurant in the past when service has been fast, friendly and great quality. Unfortunately on this occasion we were very disappointed. It took half an hour for our order to be taken, another 20 minutes waiting for our drinks to be served and 45 minutes for our meals. If the restaurant had been full or if anyone had informed us there would be a delay then we would have understood. However, there were empty tables and there seemed to be no explanation for why the service was so slow. When our meals eventually arrived my partners mixed grill was missing the BBQ dip, even though the menu describes this as part of the meal. When we pointed this out to the waitress she still claimed that the mixed grill doesn't come with any sauce or dip but would 'get it anyway'. If a meal doesn't come with an item, then it shouldn't be advertised as doing so....this is false advertising and we felt embarrassed by the waitresses response. The quality of our meals were fine, but we felt generally disappointed with the level of service we received especially as we have eaten here with excellent service in the past.

This restaurant is part of the Premier Inn West Quay Southampton and offers a reasonable priced selection of food as does every Premier Inn restaurant. When booking the hotel I would strongly recommend that you also pre-pay for the breakfast and dinner package as you can save almost 50% on the dinner as you can get 2 courses and a drink as well as breakfast for £22.50 which is not bad.The staff were extremely friendly and were prepared to talk to the customers which is something unusual in most restaurants and nothing seemed to much for them. They are very quick to clean up after you leave so anyone waiting doesn't have to wait long.I know that there are plenty of other restaurants around the town but if you are staying at the hotel for one night only on a pre or post cruise then this restaurant is very good.

Very nice new hotel slap bang in the centre of Southampton, with huge choice of shops on the doorstep. A stones throw from West Quay shopping centre, lots of bars and restaurants and a short walk from train station and cruise terminals. Very nice clean bedroom with usual mod cons, good double glazing to keep the traffic noise at bay. Only downside was that breakfast was very poor, tables were left uncleaned, dirty plates left on for ages, chimps tea party kids made a mess on floor which was left un hoovered. Small selection of hot food which was very slow to be replaced and soon went after the hungry hippos got stuck in, leaving nothing for other guests. Tea/Coffee machine broke down, clearly not enough staff to resolve issues. Nowhere to leave luggage after check out due to "health and safety" rules, (!!!) but eventually managed to persuade a visiting Manager to open up a bedroom for guests to store luggage in. Bar food menus on display all day and night, but they dont serve lunch!! In conclusion, I would stay here again for the cheap clean comfortable overnight stay, but have breakfast at a choice of nearby eateries.

I dinned here with a friend (she was staying in the hotel, I live locally) and we had booked table for 7.15pm. We did not sit down until after 7.30pm which was fine as I understand not everything goes to plan in this industry. We ordered our food, which was fine (apart from uncooked chips, which were promptly replaced), the food took sometime to come out but, as most tables were full we were ok just chatting. The table next to us clearly had an issue of long waiting times and disputed their bill and this is where it all went wrong. They questioned their waiter about their bill and he went to get the Manager, another waiter decided to try and help but did not help, then the Manager came over so 3 people were around this small table - obviously drew attention to the matter. I ordered a glass of red with my meal with the Manager but only after I had finished my meal they brought me a glass of white (no red had come yet), when I corrected the waiter he gave us the white wine free of charge and got me a glass of red too, which I thought was very nice of him and he apologised for the mix up at the bar and the delay. As we ordered our puddings and coffee another colleague (who had not booked table, until we walked in the restaurant) was only just being sat down for his meal - they had forgotten him - as there were loads of empty tables for a while prior to him being sat down. We tried to get their attention a few times to see if he could be sat next to us but everyone seemed to be rushing around doing nothing apart from the Manager who had to step into the kitchen to help them with orders and he was waiting on tables and hosting the restaurant. There were a couple of other issues going on around us, but we seemed to have had the ''x factor'' as we were fine.Despite us being ok the Manager took care of our bill and was apologetic about what had happened in the restaurant, which was extremely nice of him. We then went down to our colleague to join him for a drink and the waiter came over addressing him as ''Mr Reeves'' which is not his name - even though he had been staying in the hotel for 3 weeks up until now and had been served by the same waiter numerous times at breakfast & dinner. As I say my experience of this restaurant was ok, we were looked after and did not have any issues with long waiting times etc. However the chaos around us was something I have never seen in my life before, new staff and good training required I think!

This arrangement was perfect as we have 2 adults and 2 kids under 16.We also had a meal deal and had dinner here. No complaints. The food was good quality and I enjoyed it.

We stayed at this Premier Inn and purchased the meal deal for something like £22. It was absolutely fine, especially for dinner, with a drink, and breakfast pre-cruise.No complaints at all

We stayed at the Premier Inn West Quay for one night pre cruise. We bought the breakfast package and it was a good value for us. The food was tasty, the service was great and we would make this arrangement again on our next time passing through Southampton.

Had a great stay. Near the docks where we caught the cruise. Taxi cost 10 pounds for the 4 of us and took 10minutes through traffic to get there. Booked taxi through the inn, the night before the cruise. The staff always asked how our night was, they refund your money if you have a problem with the room. It is only a 15 minute walk from the train station. A very easy walk.

We were staying one night at the hotel pre-cruise. We arrived early in the day and were able to have dinner and breakfast. The dinner was very good, served by a competent staff, and reasonably priced. Reservations should be made for dinner as soon as checking into the hotel because of the many cruise passengers staying at the hotel. The full-English buffet breakfast was quite good, with ample quantities of many items available. The staff were very efficient in making the numerous guests comfortable at clean tables and guiding them to the food and beverage stations. This is a well run restaurant - highly recommended.

Stayed 1 night pre-cruise so only had breakfast. Price was average for England but they had a large selection and the food was actually hot. It was well prepared and you could get eggs cooked to order.

I usually stay here when I'm in Southampton, so breakfast is an obvious choice for me.The staff are friendly and helpful and the ingredients are good quality. The Costa "bean to cup" machine coffee is fresh and always good.Other hotels charge at least as much for breakfast, so the price is reasonable. What's not to like?

I like Indian food and the curry I had was very good. I do think that the breakfast is a bit over priced, but it is what the English call a "full cooked breakfast" and all you can eat.

Very good evening meal. Steak of very good quality. I was a little dubious but service was excellent and staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant was very busy so I guess popular with a lot of people. Would eat here again.

Lovely food and meal deal is a real bargain at £24 and includes breakfast the next day, but the dire service with rude staff makes it not worth it. The waitresses and manager were disinterested and very poor at their job - not the usual premier inn standard!

We had dinner in thyme as we were staying at the premier inn attached. We walked in to the restaurant and weren't sure were to go as there were no staff about. We were then seated and asked if we want drinks, 10-15 mins later we finally got them. we had ordered our starters and mains the starter was 'crispy chicken wings' which came with 4 different sauces that were different to the what was stated. We then had our main meal which was 1) pizza-which was okay but it was way to thin to be a pizza it was more like a massive cracker. 2) gammon steak- which was fatty and chips were cold. 3) rump steak- which wasn't cooked to what I asked for and chips were cold. None of waitresses looked very happy and didn't even ask if we wanted sauces. We then asked for a jug of water, we waited for 15minutes then I decided to go and get it my self, it was sat on the side waiting to be brought over but no one had bother to do that. I then asked if it was mine and tried to take it, the bar man said that I couldn't and that he couldn't let me do that but I took it anyway he then said to the waitress why wasn't it taken to the table but I didn't hear the reply. The sauces finally arrived after we had practically eaten all our dinner. We then had a costa coffee hot chocolate, which was cold and not mixed well.. Not very impressed. The waitress just seemed to forget about us. Never eating there again.

When we sat down in the restaurant the manager was giving his team a pep talk to give good service and 'remember tripadvisor'. His words clearly fell on deaf ears.Starters arrived fairly quickly and were ok. Main meal arrived along with a different waiter...meal put down and went to reach for mayonnaise and after riffling through the sachets provided found there wasn't any. Asked Fatih the waiter for mayo and received a disapproving look 'is there none there' and he proceeded to look through the sachets on the table as if we were children. Eventually he conceded there wasn't any and went to get some. As for the main meal my husband and I both commented on the smell of the meat which was not pleasant! Couldn't eat more than a few bites of the mixed grill the steaks tasted as if they were off, gammon was fatty and inedible and all the meat tasted as if it was cooked on a grill that hadn't been cleaned for a year. We were offered a replacement meal but declined as felt sick and didn't want anything else from that kitchen. We were given one free cup of coffee, however a refund of at least one of the main meals would have been more appropriate!!! We spent just under £50 only ate the starters and left feeling hungry. Unacceptable. Will never eat there again and will ensure anyone we know doesn't either.

My husband and I had dinner here on Wednesday night as we were staying in the attached Premier Inn for one night whilst we attended the New Forest Show. Needless to say after a day walking around in hot weather we were looking forward to sitting down to a quick dinner before bed. Unlucky for us then that we chose Thyme! We were seated in a quiet area at the back of the restaurant which was nice, but I did worry that we might get forgotten about back there. Not to worry though as everyone was having the same problem regardless of their seating position. To cut a long story short, the service was appallingly slow and we waited far too long for each course and drinks in between. We noticed another couple complaining about the wait and they were just about to leave the restaurant when their meal turned up. I noticed that they both left half of it, as did we - the food was very overdone and burgers were dried to a crisp. No one asked how our meals were (the restaurant was not busy at all) so when we came to pay we did say that the service and food were not up to much. The waiter told us that he knew this and that it was due to a 'hissy fit' thrown by the chef in the kitchen. Very professional. The only saving grace was that the waiter knocked the drinks off the bill but this still didn't bring back our hoped-for early night!

Stayed at the hotel where the restaurant is located. Friendly waitstaff. Things did progress a little slowly but I recognized that everything seemed to be cooked to order. We weren't in a hurry anyway. The meal deal which includes dinner and full breakfast is a good deal if you are staying at the hotel as we were prior to our cruise. Good sized portions so no one should leave hungry. We didn't have one but we saw an ice cream sundae go by and it was enormous .

We have stayed in a lot of Premier Inns, as we feel, it's a chain, so you know the quality you are getting. Unfortunately, this particular one feels like it has been "done on the cheap". The bathroom floor was damaged, the soap and shower gel dispensers gave you the tiniest blob of soap, and you had to fight for toilet roll. We had just 2 teabags...the internet access was £3 for 24 hours...but them we found out it limited you to 2 devices! The best thing was the staff..extremely friendly and efficient.Last year, we stayed in the Premier Inn right by the airport and it was MUCH better.

My husband and I, our teenage daughter and her friend stayed from Friday until Monday. My husband has stayed in premier hotels before, and it being my first visit to one was impressed by the welcome to the hotel, (by Anish), he could not do enough to answer our questions, and make us feel comfortable and welcome. Our rooms were fine, plenty of hot water and yes a comfy bed. Slept well. Breakfast was excellent, plenty on offer to set us all up for the day. Sue, who I think was in charge of the restaurant was lovely and even though was extremely busy on the Sunday morning, made us feel welcome, and tried to organise a table as quickly and efficiently as she could. So in all we would stay in a premier Inn again, especially this one, if we were to head back to Southampton again. Thank you.

We ordered as soon as we arrived at 6.45pm as we could see that there were 3 large set for groups of 8/10 people. The large groups all arrived between 7 and 7.30 but unfortunately it still caused delays. Acceptable if you are told to expect it, but to wait 40 minutes for a dessert was ridiculous! Our youngest child couldn't eat it by then and it rather spoilt our meal out. The restaurant manager did realise the error and refunded us our meal cost... There was one very sweet waitress, perhaps new, who really didn't know what she was doing. At one point one of the diners ended up spelling out what she wanted as the waitress had no clue!

Well where do I start! Myself and 3 friends booked in for a bottemless brunch. The service was extremely slow we waited over 15 minutes after ordering our first drink to even recieve it, The cocktails tasted poor and were not up to standard. The food was rubbish and very salty. The waitress and the manager were rude. When we asked a question the waitress rolled her eyes at us. The window where we were sat had clearly been broken so was boarded up but made to look like the easthetic with lights hung on it. Overall we were unhappy with our visit and won't be recommending to other people.

We’ve been to quite a few Wetherspoons but this had to be one of the worse. Came for a quick bite as the kids were hungry and have a good choice for kids with food and drinks options. Found a vacant table eventually as there were lots of empty tables but all full of dirty plates. Sat down and the table was very sticky. On way to the bar, all the bins are out near the bar and quite off putting. Went to order food but was told it was too early for the main menu (11.30am) and couldn’t order yet so went back to the table and ordered online straight away with no problems. Drinks arrived quickly and the food arrived about 10 minutes later, so no delay. Food was as expected from what we ordered. And the saw staff then clearing tables but not really cleaning them so can see why they were sticky. The good thing is the toilets are on the same floor and no flights of stairs but smelt musty.
