The Standing Order in Southampton

Dropped in for a quick breakfast when returning from a cruise. My bacon sandwich was served quickly and the staff were very friendly. Reasonably priced too.

Let's be honest folks, it's a weatherspoons so you know what you're getting 👏👏

Used to love this place now they hardly have anything on the menu or they no longer sale it! Found was tiny portions as well and looked like it had just been chucked on the plate

Always a good selection of ales at excellent prices, and great no nonsense food.

No straws because the bar manager things it’s too messy… have you not heard of the customer experience ? Very odd attitude to have.

Ordered the half chicken for 2 people took ages arrived cut into it the smell was horrible even the people on the next table said that's off went to the manager his reply I'm not responsible for it it comes in ready in a bag got no more We ended up having words he was rude impolite gave me my money back minus the cost off the drinks which we didn't finish, i had already had words with him about people dealing drugs in the beer garden said if we didn't like it leave great customer service not won't go again

As spoons go, it's pretty descent. Always busy. Always fast service. Good prices and great location. Can't complain.

Its the cheapest bar in the town. And the aura is awesome. The prices are cheaper than most of the bar in the neighbourhood. I had Guinness which was 3.95 here and neighbouring bar i paid 5.2£. So i guess cheap for the drinks. Also its very lively on weekends.

The worst food. Colourless food with undercooked bacon will not eat here again.

Lovely lively English pub in Southampton. Paid £9 for a yummy Steak and kidney pie with mash and a pint. Fast friendly service,not often found these days.

Really busy, good atmosphere, food was a really good standard, rapid service and the oh so great wetherspoon prices👌 would definitely be back.

Very nice pub! We were there twice and the food was very good both times. And the selection of beer is typically English for us Swiss and simply huge👍The service is very friendly and fast. I can only recommend it.🍻

The food was not the best and I have visited a few of the same chain. The food was undercooked. The staff were lovely and the place was very busy

It's a decent Wetherspoons pub. Beer cheap but can get a bit rough as night goes on.

a fine Wetherspoons pub! we stopped here for a couple of hours to pass the time and eat a hearty breakfast while waiting to board our cruise ship back in November (2024), and we were surprised with how busy this Spoons gets so quickly. we arrived around 8am to eat and then moved into the outdoor area to drink some coffees etc while we passed time, and when we went back indoors to leave between 10am and 11am, the inside was packed full of people! we'd never seen a pub so busy that early in the morning. outside area was a little uncomfortable, due to high red chairs, but we made do!

Didn't like someone being out side the entrance along with people shouting and swearing.

A top Spoons! We stopped by tonight for dinner before leaving on a cruise tomorrow and really loved the Standing Order. All the staff we've been served by have been welcoming and polite, service has been super speedy, and the drinks and food have been great! Would not hesitate to stop here again the next time we're in Southampton.

We took the "Afternoon Deal" at lunchtime. Two small fish and chips and a drink each (Strongbow cider on tap and Porietti beer on tap). We paid just under 16 pounds. The food was delicious. One of the doors is broken and bangs like a drum when people exit/enter which is all the time. The toilets smell really bad too.

As always Wetherspoon is worth a visit, good food and very good value. Unfortunately it was completely overcrowded on the weekend, otherwise everything was okay

Decent burger, surprisingly awesome chicken wings, chips and a drink. All for £12 with app table service. Can't complain at that! 👌

This has to be the worst spoons I have been to for breakfast. i only ordered beans on toast with sausage. The toast was black with a small amount of cold beans and a cold sausage. i sent it back and got something that looked like it had been thrown at the plate, and yet again, cold beans and burnt toast it was disgusting. I couldn't eat it and my mate had a traditional breakfast that was cold and not good we will not be going back.

Very busy 90%tables full 1.30pm Friday. Some smoking tables outside and on sunny side. Ordered food through the app drinks came 3mins. Food 9 mins. The chips that came with the deep fried cod were fantastic along with the batter on fish. Comes with a wedge of lemon condiments -main brands -available to collect. Colour scheme needs some work! Very drab - staff friendly and professional. Drinks nicely filled. Excellent value for money no music playing - still noisy with pleasant chatter.

Large pub with unusually low prices, but everything is ok. We were only there for a beer, but it was full and almost all of the customers ate something.

Dark and dingey grubby little pub, real nasty every weekend and bodyguards roaming around staring at you inside and out of the pub.

It's what you would expect from a wetherspoons ,busy ,reasonably priced, if your looking for fine dinning this is not the for you but if you looking for pub grub and don't mind getting 10 chips on you plate when you order fish and chips then this is the place for you

Whether spoons in Southampton centre. Staff was friendly and lovely. Large mixed grill. Raw chips. Meat was like concrete. The only thing on the plate that was nice was the onion rings.

Chicken looked like slop on a plate was suppose to be chargrilled but looked soggy and undercooked, Chips were nice though but will avoid chicken dishes from now, Service quick as ordered through app, worker spilt drink on phone and got a mumbled sorry, Pub seems like the local needs updating and cleaning very busy.

Food is quite good, prices too but is one inconvenient thing - dirty tables. Hard to find one which is no sticky of dirt

I love eating at wetherspoon because for me is a standard. Almost like eating at McDonald's. But unfortunately 😕, today I've got a gourmet steak super spicy from this place which was odd. I ate some thinking maybe is me and the taste will go away, but it didn't. I approched the bar and the answer was " this is how we season the beef" . Ok.... if that is so, why we as customers are not made aware of this on the menu?.??

I don’t really know what to say after last night . My son in law was removed from the premises, accused of being drunk and of taking drugs .All with no proof. He had had 3 pints went to the bar to order another , had a conversation with the bartender about the noise level and the next thing he knew he was asked to leave and accused by management of the above . To say this is a disgrace is beyond words , he hates taking pain relief let alone recreational drugs . Suggest management go outside and throw out those that are smoking it and deal with them before you pick on innocent individuals. To the manager you had no proof he was drunk which he wasn’t. You had no proof about the drug taking , which he wasn’t. He never used foul language to anyone, but you seemed fit to have him removed. I worked in the pub business for many years and pride myself on the job I did as regard customer relations . You haven’t got a clue and you are a disgrace to the industry as are the lying staff that made up these false accusations .

Way to busy. Got a table then got asked to leave because they wanted the table for their mates.

A more than decent 'spoons. Apart from a good brekkie, had a decent Plum Porter. Well worth a stop.

The smell in the Gent toilets was disgusting

Good, large, Wetherspoon's pub about 20 minutes walk from Southampton Central Station. Nine cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating in a courtyard half way down the pub. The Standing Order is in the former Southampton branch of the Bank of England. That dates from around 1925 and stood on the site of St Lawrence's church. It was connected by tunnel to Southampton's medieval vaults. Not too busy after the Spurs game at St Mary's Stadium.

Came to standing order for lunch, our table was dirty and not clean, we ordered our lunch on the app and puddings the server brought out our dinner and garlic bread which just about fitted on the table and then brought out our puddings with our dinner, we didn't want our puddings with our dinner and he crammed it onto our tiny table, it was cold by the time we ate it the custard was gloopy, very disappointed with the service and not really impressed considering what we paid definitely not coming back again

Not sure of the food didn't partake but the drink atmosphere was fantastic

Fried eggs must have been sat under a heat lamp for 10 minutes. Would have returned it had the staff not been run off their feet. Staff tried to give us the wrong order too 🤦‍♂️

We were visiting Southampton, and as we always do, we called in the Wetherspoons for our lunch.

Friday night drinks. It's a 'spoons' so not expect a high end clientèle. Cheap drinks, and had a great selection of everything. Nice and friendly staff. Massive pub with loads of seating. Good smoking area. Will visit again when in Southampton again.

On 8th November 2024 at about 3.00 pm was thrown out for being 'rude' to a staff member. I merely asked for a coffee - that's all - to a passing barman having been passed over time and again. An unfortunate set of events that started when I indicated that someone else was in front of me. The manager (who was the person who askef me to leave) would not let me speak to explain what had happened; he kept talking over ne. I didn't ever raise my voice, nor did I swear (which I'm sure he would have liked me to do so that he could justify his actions) . I am disgusted at this treatment of me especially as I am an older gentleman of 78 years. I would advocate his dismissal forthwith

Honestly this is the best Wetherspoons me and my partner have visited and we've been to quite a few... The food is really tasty. Piping hot and full of flavour. The gourmet cheese burger was by far my favourite it was cooked fresh and had lots of flavour. As for the toilets they seemed somewhat clean and ars on the same level so its not up lots of stairs for once!!

Staying next door in The Star Hotel & popped in for a beer 🍻 or two & the food looked fantastic!! Decided to stay & were very impressed, great tasty hot food, with excellent service, we both had the gourmet Sirloin steak 🥩 with another pint.. Brilliant 🤩 & tasty 😋 ( with Jack Daniel’s sauce)
