Amazing food and lovely staff. We came here as a treat for lunch as it is the kids favourite cafe in Godalming.

We were 2 friends meeting in Godalming for a catch up. We were wandering through the quaint little lanes and stumbled across Thyme for Tea and we were so pleased we did. The young lady that served us was super smiley and welcoming and she was able to provide extra information about items on the menu when asked. I had a really lovely savoury muffin with my salad which I can recommend and although a simple dish my friend enjoyed her beans on toast. It came out in a reasonable time so that we weren’t kept waiting but equally we were reassured that it was cooked from fresh. We both had tea as well which was served in pretty teapots. This was a busy cafe with people coming in for takeaway as well as eating in but we didn’t feel rushed in anyway at all, in fact quite the opposite with such friendly staff. Thyme for Tea had make us feel so welcome that a few hours later we returned for more tea and one of their lovely cakes. So many to choose from and dairy free and gluten free customers are accommodated as well. I can highly recommend the scone which was definitely home made and was served warm which was lovely. Upon leaving as we both have family at home we bought cakes to take home with us to alleviate our guilt at having such lovely food without them! Cake to takeaway was also very reasonably priced and for 2 big brownies, a slice of carrot cake and a slice of sticky toffee pudding it was just a little over £9 which I thought was very reasonable for 4 generous pieces of home made cake . If and when we return to Godalming we will definitely return to Thyme for Tea. Thank you for not just one but two lovely visits in one day!

We had a delicious afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. A really lovely welcome from Errol. He was attentive to our every need. Great value for money too. We started with a large sandwich of our choice. Then a large scone, jam and cream and a delicious selection of cakes. The chocolate dipped strawberries were to die for! Errol told us we could have takeaway boxes which we needed! Tea and coffee is also bottomless with afternoon tea. Lovely traditional tea room atmosphere. Booking recommended as they like to prepare afternoon tea in advance.

Lovely cakes. They had baklava when I was there last time. It was amazing. Coffee is nice. Dog friendly. Nice calming background music. Very domestic vibes. We will be back.

This is an amazing local independent cafe. The owners are so friendly and genuine and everything is home made. Make sure you turn off the high street to try this gem!

Looking for a café, we came across this cute little place, so popped in. A large selection of homemade cakes on display, which all looked lovely. We chose one and got hot chocolate and tea. Inside the café is very clean and decorated olde worlde. The man serving us was very nice and chatty. It was like stepping back in time. A lovely experience, on a cold, wet afternoon ~

Best cafe in Godalming by a mile 👏

This very nice, quaint little tea room is run by a delightful family. The service was second to none, with copious amounts of coffee and tea. There was an extensive choice of sandwich fillings (with a choice of breads, toasted or not, or a nice panini). Our fruit scones came with butter and lots of cream and jam. We had no room for the many cakes (see photo) that were served with this 'Afternoon Tea' order and we ended up boxing them to take home. This is great, as we will be able to enjoy their home baked delicacies for the next few days. Thank you so much for the fantastic service, Errol and Terry. It was also very nice to see Gemma again!

This is a lovely little tearoom. It’s quaint, homely and welcoming. The food was lovely and we also felt the need to finish off our lunch with some delicious cake. Obviously many people felt the same as it was very busy.

WOW. what a find. Good coffee. Choice of lovely homemade cakes and scones. Friendly welcoming hosts and staff. The local regulars are nice too. Wifi and power is there. The building is quirky and cool IMO.

We went there with my husband and 2 kids. Tea and cappuccino were perfectly made, and I enjoyed my blueberries muffin. Atmosphere and design of the place is fantastic, and prices are not great too, nothing compare to London. Would definitely come back.

A real gem in Godalming! We took our friends here for a light lunch on Sunday as we had never been in before and we all LOVED IT! The cream tea for one was delicious and their menu had a great homely feel with something for everyone. We'll definitely be bringing others here and what's even better is they let dogs in too!

Friendly and accommodating service . Good choice of drinks and cakes. However, as drinks individually made, take a while to arrive. Quirkily decorated. Worth going to.

This is a charming little place that I always favour when I’m Godalming, a quiet town which has managed to retain so many independent shops. My only criticism is that the salad accompanying the sandwiches is a bit disappointing - no one is going to be delighted about grated carrot.

We stop by after a long walk around the area. And we have the most refresher drinks, it brought us back to life! 😍 They also have the most amazing pieces of cakes I've ever seen. The service is absolutely outstanding! Staff is Very kind and approachable. The place is very cosy and it has loads of cute decorations. We definitely recommend it! ☕🍰

We had the most amazing picnic boxes and afternoon tea boxes for our Dad's birthday. Freshly made and packed with delicious treats. Lovely service as well. We will be back very soon!

Lovely tea room. Lots of options on the menu. We had leek & potato soup and brie & chutney tart - both very nice. Nice selection of cakes for afters. We were very well looked after by a lovely gentleman who topped up our tea on the house. Will return when we are next in the area!

We stopped for drinks and then also orderd a fruit scone with jam and a lovely slice of Lemon Cake. The cake was so light and lemony, truly delicious!. The scone nicely warmed, with plenty of fruit in it, served with a side portion of jam. The lady serving was very pleasant and the service was attentive and efficient. Lovely quirky little cafe, with very reasonable prices. Deserving of 5 stars, we would return again when in Godalming.

Very welcoming, cosy and great food

This cosy and quirky tearoom off the Godalming high street is lovely for casual coffee or even a special occasion. My wife, youngest son and I booked for a Saturday early afternoon tea to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The spread they put on was magnificent and extremely generous - way more than we could eat: several plates of freshly made sandwiches, scones, jam and cream and two towering stacks of cakes, brownies and assorted pastries, along with bottomless tea. Good thing they were happy to box up what we didn't finish to take home. The service was friendly and attentive. Honestly just the perfect afternoon and such good value.

Amazing afternoon tea. So much food, freshly made sandwiches and every kind of cake imaginable. We ate until we were full and then took home two boxes of cakes. The scones were sublime, the best in the South East in my opinion. The waiter was a wonderful, funny and kind gentleman, he made the experience even better. It was a fun and delicious way to spend the afternoon, definitely recommend!

Came to Godalming a few times. This is the best place for light lunch and hot drinks. Very good value, and full of locals. Would definately come again.

I attended this diner recently for a friend's birthday. I have to say it's absolutely amazing however there where a couple issues we encountered. From beverages not being received to grouping information lost in translation. If you ignore all of though its an absolutely amazing little shop. The food we received was outstanding and they offered takeaway for the remaining food. Overall outstanding.

Simply excellent food, drinks and service in a lovely location - Church St is the quieter and more characterful end of Godalming. We were able to reserve a table easily (not a requirement BTW). The staff were all friendly and informative. The homemade cakes were a particular highlight and we will definitely be back soon!

Ordered afternoon tea for 3 adults and 2 children. The food was fantastic. You ordered the sandwich filling of your choice. Fillings were really generous. Plenty of little sweet treats presented on a cake stand. Bottomless tea or coffee. Service was fantastic. The team were so helpful. They ensured the children had food they liked and engaged with them brilliantly. Thank you!

We visited this establishment for an afternoon tea and we were not disappointed. They were very busy but gave us enough attention and the food was excellent. We had only booked the day before but everything was perfect.

Tried to have a cuppa and cake here.. don't expect speedy service this is a very relaxed pace but I think they don't like me.. First time I came here.. I bought tea and cake... and although the tea arrived I checked and they had sold the last piece of cake that I had bought.. I did get a refund but.. Second time I ordered a panni with some friends, theirs came fairly quickly.. however I had to wait an additional 5 mins for mine.. and where as my friend's got cutlery.. I did not. Probably not coming in again

We popped in for a bite of lunch and enjoyed sharing a brie and grape panini and a blueberry muffin. They were very tasty and we also enjoyed a large pot of tea, in the quiet and friendly atmosphere.

I go to this café every week and the people there are so friendly its the perfect place to just relax and enjoy breakfast or lunch.

What a great find, this secret hidden cafe, great lunch menu, lovely food, nice snack options, value for money, my only feedback would be the table cloths really look too stained and really not hygienic looking (especially if you have a kiddie with you who puts food on table,) they are probably clean but not great. Also lacks a bit of atmosphere, maybe a bit of quiet music would help, just my observation but people dont like to hear others conversations, but overall i would recommend it and the staff are brilliant, im just a bit fussy, definitely support the family run independent anytime.

Lovely lunch, generous portions

This was my first visit …. we walked past the other day and decided that I should come next time we were in Godalming with our dog Maisy Cosy and friendly and a comfortable warm place to be .. My wifes Scone and Americana and my Latte were really good …. but I had asked for a Bacon sandwich on brown bread and it came on white bread and the bacon was far too overcooked …. mistakes happen with an order and it was no big deal but cooking fresh succulent moist bacon is the easiest thing in the world to get right when there are very few customers …. and it is very quickly achieved I will go back ….. the coffee, Scone and ambience make Thyme for Tea “a better place to be”

Lovely little cafe, perfect for afternoon tea with a few friends. It has a really warm and friendly atmosphere. Served really fast even in busy hours. Tasty food and the best China for tea. It's an amazing all round we we're so happy to find this place, afternoon tea reservations are availble.

Once again a first class afternoon tea. There were five of us on Saturday lunchtime and we all enjoyed the delicious sandwiches, scones, cakes and strawberries served by the lovely ladies at Thyme for Tea. They kindly supplied us with boxes to take home what we couldn’t manage. If you are in Godalming I would highly recommend a visit. You won’t be disappointed,

Very relaxing and friendly, food excellent.

We haven't been to Godalming for two years, coming from London we like to spend the day here, which always includes having lunch. Over the years we've seen many changes, and with Covid we weren't sure what to expect. However, we are delighted 😀 to have found Thyme For Tea. What a lovely little café, homely and comfortable. Lots to choose from on the menu, we had Coronation Chicken, which was so tasty, cakes and scones looked very apertising, sadly we were to full to sample them!!...Next time! The staff are friendly, service extremely fast. This will be our special place for lunch when we visit again, I have a feeling it could be quite soon!!!.

Small cafe with lovely homemade sandwiches, cakes etc. Was busy when we arrived and problems with cash machine but the staff were lovely and couldn't apologise enough. Probably a slighter longer wait than their usual but we didn't mind - these things happen! Would definitely go again.

I rarely write reviews but this is worth reviewing. A lovely lunch , catering for gluten free. Lovely atmosphere. Love the decor. I could see they were very busy and temporarily under staffed, but the server remained calm and professional. Good food, staff and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

My favourite place in Godalming, it's my friend and mines go to place!!

I highly recommend Thyme for Tea, especially their afternoon tea boxes. We ordered them for a garden party and they were wonderful - delicious sandwiches and cakes and the mini choux pastries were a huge hit. The kids boxes in particular are brilliant value - enough in them even for hungry 9 year olds - and really well thought out with things children love. Thyme for tea were so helpful and accommodating, I would definitely recommend using them for an event, large or small.

Loved this quaint, beautiful tea shop with so many interesting wall hangings... And the beautiful collection of tea pots and tea cups behind the counter. Only had time for a very quick cuppa, the friendly person brought it very fast. I'll be back to enjoy some of the gorgeous, eats!

Lovely Cafe, went there with my old Mum and we had Jacket Potato , Cold Meats and pickles .... very good. Thoroughly recommend especially after a nice walk from Guildford to Godalming along the old Canal. I recommend if your very hungry the apple pie !

Can't make out how we missed this place for two years. Excellent service and virus control. Food and drinks we're spot on, in fact we struggled to finish food as so much. The prices are exceptionally low for Godalming. A little gem in Godalming.

Great takeaway picnic boxes! Last weekend we decided to try Tyme for Tea for the first time and we were pleased we did - great, tasty takeaway sandwiches and fantastic kid picnic boxes! The shop is ideally located on Church Street which is a 5 mins walk if that to the park so perfect for picnics and if you fancy an alcoholic beverage you could even stop across the round at The Star pub for a takeaway drink.
