Best pub with the best vibe. Cozy friendly atmosphere. Really tasty baguettes & snacks to be had. Great customer service and an extensive beer/booze offering. Will always be my number 1.

Always has a great selection of beer and cider, so a hit with the Camra crowd. Food is good, generous portions and a lot of choice. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Definitely my favourite local pub They also have their own micro brewery and the Landlord is a Quins fan, what more can you ask?

Sunday lunch roast for 4 - every plate was so delicious cooked, we had beef, pork belly and chicken and masses of fresh veg as well as all the trimmings. Honestly one of the best pub lunches we’ve had. Now have 2 favourite pubs for drink, food and atmosphere The Star and the Cricketers on Farncombe hill

I might be a little partial in this review as this was our first experience in a Pub while travelling in England. Food was very good, reasonably priced and generous portions. The atmosphere is interesting for a foreign as we see many things with "new eyes". Service was very good and courteous. Must admit that asking for our desired meals at the balcony wasn't very straightforward for me, but we adapted quickly and it seems much more efficient. I had the superstar burger and it was absolutely delicious. Loved the experience and probably will return, if time allows.

We hired the back room for my birthday bash, and it couldn’t have gone better. The staff were fabulous, from the booking process, to the food choice, to the service, they were all so helpful. I ordered a buffet for every one, and they all said it was delicious. There was nothing left, so it must have been good! They had a lovely selection of beers and ciders available, and even had my favourite Bridge Farm Cider on, which was lucky. Overall it was a brilliant venue, with a lovely atmosphere and cracking staff.

Cracking pub with a great beer garden

A lovely old and warm pub. Great lunch of Star burger and superb chips. Washed down with a cuople of pints of Raven croft local beer 🍻 Whts not to like about that? Good variety of crafted beers and ciders, good staff, good price and good food.

Great pub, friendly service good beer. Unfortunately the boxing day live music was consigned to a small back room which made it impossible to enjoy the music and hear it from in the bar area. Should do better to help make music, and musicians, more prominent.

Love this place. Food is good, not spectacular but plentiful and a huge choice. But what I love is the vast array of ales they have on offer. Wonderful range from across the country. Plus it has a lovely charm to it. Great place.

I visit this lovely pub 2 or 3 times a tear. If you're in the vicinity there is NO reason not to stop here. I love it. Great beer, great food, great staff always.

Good selection of beers, and an organised bar queue!

What a lovely genuine old pub, the real thing! I ordered a jacket potato with prawns marie rose, and it was fabulous! The potato skin delectably crispy, the serving very generous, and two salads accompanying equally delicious. The servers were charming. Altogether a memorable moment here, having come all the way from Canada for an authentic English country pub experience.

Delicious food, and incredibly friendly staff who gave me the best recommendations, and such a cozy atmosphere! Couldn’t recommend more! The beef was delicious and all the wine suggestions were fabulous! I had a great night! Thank you Rosa and everyone at The Star! 🥰

Small bar, but quick and attentive service. I went around Halloween and every square inch of the place was decorated with various spooky stuff - it was an incredible display! Best of all was the selection of beers and ciders, which was very wide and I shall be back later this week to try out more!

I love this pub, I would say it’s the best pub in the area. The staff are amazing, the owners are lovely and they always have an incredible selection of Beers and Ciders. It’s what you would expect a visualisation of the meaning within a dictionary would look like when you looked up the definition of “Pub”. It’s cozy has lots of different sections, and they do the best Nachos ever, literally these Nachos are amazing, I can’t even remember the amount of times I’ve skipped dinner just because I’ve had the nachos they are big, filling, tasty and they don’t skimp on ingredients, even the Nacho chips are top notch. I could wax lyrical about this pub all day if you wanted. I had my 40th here, it was one of the reasons we moved to the area. It is just an amazing “Pub” As a side note they do Halloween as Halloween should be, full of tacky scary animatronics and decorations, I’ve seen kids scared of walking in here around Halloween as they go all out.

It's a hidden gem in Godalming. They had gone overboard with the Halloween theme. Lots of nooks and crannies. Had a Guinness, and enjoyed the ambience.

Lovely quaint pub in the heart of Godalming. Tuesday Night is chips night, and their battered sausage and chips was the best I have ever had, hands down. The batter was crispy and not fatty or oily at all. The chips were cooked to perfection with a side salad to accompany it all. If you want a pub with character and great food, with a good selection of ales (and dog friendly) then I would pop in here...

We went for lunch at The Star Inn in Godalming, and we weren't disappointed. Two great meals and a superb selection of ale (I had a plum and brandy porter and a raspberry wheat beer), the staff were attentive and helpful. A top pub!

The pub is renowned for its amazing selection of ales & ciders. Usually about 10-12 draft ales. Also it is the home of Godalming Beer Works, who brew some very good ales. Try First Light, it is so well balanced. The food is also fantastic! Their large selection oif burgers has something for everyone (I had the Mexican, with home made chilli, mashed avocado, sour cream & jalapenos - YUM!). I should also mention that all burgers come with dressed salad, coleslaw, red cabbage slaw and their amazing triple cooked chips. These chips are very crunchy on the outside and light & fluffy on the insides. Having eaten at the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, I can honestly say that the triple cooked chips served at The Star are definitely superior to those of Tom Kerridge's award winning chips which were soggy.

A cosy and friendly Godalming pub. Prices are fair, a good selection of beers, spirits and ciders. What makes this place stand out is it’s ambiance and atmosphere. Inside, the pub is small yet hospitable and comfortable. My favourite place is the beer garden though. Lovely atmosphere, great seating and all around an excellent vibe. Toilets are clean and staff are friendly. If you’re looking for a nice place to drink that won’t break the bank that isn’t Wetherspoons, this place is perfect. Highly recommend.

We used to live round the corner but unfortunately had to moved away. However just had my mum flying to see us and she said I wails love to have a prawn tempura and few other small snacks … this place is perfect if you have a drink and fancy some nice tempura prawns , scampi or huge Nachos :) All staff exceptionally nice :) It’s not our first visit and definitely not the last :))

Best selection of craft beers I've seen for a long time. I have the Tilford IPA and the Dr Johnson Bitter and both were awesome. We all had the Sunday Roast, which was simply amazing. Best Sunday Roast at a Pub I've ever had and at a very reasonable price. Service was excellent and the ambience of the Pub itself just what we were looking for. I recommend ordering the Roast in advance to make sure you get the choice you want. They will eventually run out. My wife had the Lamb and I had the Chicken and both were perfect.

Previously enjoyed previous family time here, sometimes only with my young daughter. Excellent service, friendly staff. Great food. Recently been advised they offer a Delivery menu service. A colleague is going to order her birthday meal for herself to be delivered... We will celebrate with her when all this is over! I understand the Star has new owners and makeover. I'm looking forward to visiting in near future...

Visiting Godalming for the first time, The Star quickly became my favourite pub. Very old building, around 200 years old with few changes. Small bar at front but extends back to a further bar and garden. Very welcoming staff and very busy. i am a Camra member and by chance, visited during an ale festival. Around 40 ales on offer, usually around 15. Lots of choice and some of my favourites. Will definately return.

Seemed a nice place but I had [what I considered to be] a bad pint. However there was no offer of a refund when I returned it after 2 sips. Also parents allowing their kids to play cartoons on their phones at full volume. I won't go back.

Best pub in Godalming. Huge selection of well kept ales and ciders that change regularly. The food is super tasty, they do the best cheesy chips and they now have a vegan burger which is also delicious. Its lovely and cosy inside, with great, old fashioned charm. The staff are helpful and friendly and the regulars are chatty too. They have a folk night on Mondays and a quiz on Sundays. There are TV's showing the news and all the big sporting events as well as a juke box. The outside area is spacious and has heaters, and there is a little room out back that you can hire for events that comes with it own bar. If this wasn't enough to draw you in, they also host a brilliant Easter and Halloween beer/cider festival each year!

WHOPPER DOPPER DING DONG! Interesting ciders on draught here, hardly any proper pubs left in Godalming now so I try to pay this place a visit whenever I'm back.

This is my favourite pub - every time I visit it’s a genuinely wonderful experience. They have been voted Surrey’s Cider Pub of the Year for many years and I can tell why! They always have many fun cider options to choose from, all illustrated beautifully on their chalkboard menu. The last time I visited I finally got to try their food and I was just as impressed with the food as I always am with the drinks options! Very flavourful and very reasonably priced.

Both were very nice to us and instructed us to grab a table since most of the restaurant was still empty at this point. The menu offered a variety but we chose to get nachos and a burger for each of us. I myself got the Farm burger and my wife got the cheeseburger. Both burgers and the nachos were great! I cannot stop talking about how good the nachos were! The food portion was great and the quality was great as well. My wife had a ginger cider and she thought it was great. The decor of the place was really unique and nice to look at. As the evening progressed, more and more people arrived at the pub and it became livelier. Totally didn't mind that at all. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

Loved this pub as soon as we first came. Guys: It’s a proper pub! No “tasteful” refurb with special light bulbs and dodgy paintwork. It’s like the pubs of old, all quaint nookery and totally unspoilt. The atmosphere is great and the beer , food and service too. Please please don’t ever get a modern refurb. Your pub is a gem. 🙌🙌🙌💚

Excellent as always. Sadly they didn't have the "in house" beer that I was hoping for but plenty of other selection. Godalming Beer Co expected back in soon - hopefully - last brewery I need in surrey!

Brilliant little pub. Plenty of guest ales and ciders. Fantastic beer garden with fore pits and plenty of cover. Even a small screen for the football in the garden for when you need that fresh air but it's not quite half time yet! Foods also good BTW.

Recently opened and much anticipated, we were not let down. Beautifully refurbished, yet still full of character and charm. Very comprehensive Sunday menu with the roast beef mouth watering. Beautifully presented side dish extras. Yummy puddings. Decided to have my birthday party the with the Sunday menu for 16 guests. Tells you all.

Absolutely love this little pub. As wonky as you would hope on the inside, lovely beer garden and welcoming to all. Wonderful beers on tap and cask - bar staff nice and knowledgeable when I started asking about all the gins.

We met with friends for a evening meal. We had not been before and what a great location in Town and a really old style pub feel. 3 guests ordered from the small bite menu (Tapas style but English) and I had a Chilli burger. Drinks and food ordered at the bar, friendly and efficient service. Food was excellent, taste quality and quantity. All reasonably priced. I wish I lived locally as I would be a regular.

I came down to Godalming for a wedding in Guildford. I live in Derby and always thought we had some fantastic pubs. Having spent only a couple of hours in the Star I can say with confidence it's the best pub I've ever been in....

Brilliant drinks, lovely space and no pretensions pub food. There's no real way to find fault with the star. Best pure pub in the area.
