The Three Lions in Waverley

The wife & I were in the area & fancied a Sunday carvery & found The Three Lions via Google / TA etc. Apart from the the well known carvery chain not many pubs do this on Sunday anymore. The pub was quiet which we were a little concerned about, however staff friendly & the carvery delicious, all tasted home / in house made. We will return again soon when craving a good carvery!

We come here whenever Gavin Thomas plays. Amazing local musician. Really great local pub with great traditional vibes.

Not from the local area, but popped in for a drink and so glad we decided upon here. Very welcoming! The man behind the bar and I think the lady was Called June, were so kind and nice to talk too. Lovely fire too which was much needed on a cold day. My dog in particular was made to feel very at home. Could have easily stayed longer and will do next time! Thanks Again!

What an amazing place. Traditional pub with lovely customers make you feel so welcome. As for the staff they are amazing and work so hard. Becky and Mike behind the bar take great care of you. Simon the manager definitely knows how to run a decent place and all the locals respect him, deservedly so. June runs the kitchen and oh my her home cooking is amazing. I love her roasts but any other day you are there you must try her food. Beer is also VERY well kept and the pub very clean. There unfortunately aren’t many of these real pubs left we need to support them. Well done to the whole team. I will be back

A traditional and quirky English pub

The people that work here are so caring and so friendly. I got into difficulties and they went above and beyond to help me I will definitely come back here as even if I jad no problem they were so friendly and made me feel so welcome xx

Donna behind the bar was so lovely to my mum when she was there! Mum was struggling to find away to get to the next town and Donna went above and beyond to get her a taxi. The taxi driver ended up being the owner of the pub who went out of his way to help her. She said they were the friendliest pub of her whole trip and would highly recommend to people. Lovely staff and wonderful customer service from this pub. I can't thank them enough for helping mum!

On a stroll (pub crawl) round Godalming, we visited The Three Lions. Made welcome by the barman and enjoyed some good beer. Half a mile out of town but worth the walk. Traditional pub with a reputation for good food and music at the weekends.

Great band on the night I went. Great crowd of their fans in the pub too.

I popped in here on my travels the other day, I just needed a warm place to hold up whilst I waited for a lift to my next job, I was made to feel welcome, even though I wasn't spending a great deal... Just how an old school pub should be... Its in my friendly places to return to list. 👍

Only nipped in coz we needed a quick drink after a scary experience at a hotel . They seemed okay but not overly friendly. I guess we stood out as strangers and therfore they kept there distance They told us about the hotel we had just fled from though

Book ahead cause this is a busy pub. It's busy for a reason the food is excellent. Had a lovely beef roast and the cauliflower cheese is to die for. An excellent afternoon had by all.

Returned back to Godders for Christmas and thought we try lunch here having never visited in the 35 years we've lived in Godalming...WOT HAVE WE BEEN MISSING??? For the price this sunday lunch carvery was exceptional. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. We will be back! Highly recommend. Godalming best keep sunday secret??

My friend and I went for the Sunday carvery excellent choice of three meats and plenty of help yourself vegetables £10.95 well worth it. The staff very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Will definitely recommend and return.

Went for our last meal here after weeks narrowboat holiday. Great food, very nice attentive staff and well priced, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Lovely pub with character and plenty of seating outside. The Sunday roast 😋 best I've has in a long while. Can't fault the staff, happy, friendly and chatty so I wouldn't worry about going there for the 1st time as they make you feel like you're the only one there.

My partner and I decided to go out for a sunny Sunday afternoon drink. He wanted to try a certain real ale which he thought this pub might have. We went to enter the pub and were greeted by a large aggressive-seeming barking dog. I am allergic to dogs. and thus wary of them The owner/manager could see I was unsettled by the animal's aggressive behaviour and seemed to take this as some kind of a personal affront. He was quite rude about the fact that I hadn't got my face mask on prior to entry, mainly because I was edging away from the dog I thought looked like it might bite me. The rude unwelcoming behaviour is totally bizarre given that we thought venues were keen for custom. We went to The Cricketers five minutes' walk away and were greeted in a much more civilised normal fashion and had a pleasant drink in their delightful sunny garden. Suffice it to say I will not be returning to The Three Lions. This pub obviously has no grasp of the concept of service or indeed basic civility.

Friendly people serving wholesome cheap food and good beer, what more could you possibly want in these times! Live music will return, good luck Scratchers you deserve it.

Super tasty food! The homemade chips were huge and devine. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked and full of flavour and the onion rings were the perfect side. It arrived ahead of time and was still piping hot when delivered. Would definitely recommend to friends.

This has been my local for over a year. Always made to feel welcome, even when I came in on my own. Quickly became friends with the bar staff, in particular Elaine who always serves with a smile, knowledgable and accommodating. Keep up the good work. Fantastic local pub. Initially dubious post lockdown but they had set out very safe protocols. Friendly staff, served by Elaine who greeted us kindly and with a very informed knowledge of the wine lists and food menus. Excellent food. And I look forward to coming again soon

The landlady is a gorgeous gal, cheerful disposition and shining eyes. Her female staff member is jovial and welcoming. I missed out on the food but will visit the lovely rear open area again.

A warm welcome and helpful staff, Wednesday curry night was superb, the food is all fresh and handmade from scratch. Plenty of flavour and good portions.

Great place to go, very friendly staff, great beers and the food is fantastic, fresh, cooked to order, delicious and for a very good price. Have eaten a couple of times here since Nigel took over the running of the kitchen and haven't been disappointed yet. The Chinese Pork Curry was amazing.

The Three Lions was one of the highlights of my visit to Godalming. The beers are good, and the food is great value. I had the biggest All Day Breakfast I have ever seen! I was hungry and it really hit the spot. For less than a tenner it was exceptional value. The atmosphere is this lovely old pub was warm and friendly and I could have happily dozed off by the open fire. I noticed that at the weekends it is also a great venue for live music, so well worth coming back for another visit.

A fantastic value curry (choice of 4 curry’s; 3 meat/1 veggie) and the best quiz night in Godalming! Bar staff, chef Nigel and quiz master are all incredibly friendly and enthusiastic! What more could you ask for on a Wednesday night?

Have been visiting The Scratchers all my life, and with the new Chef Nigel on-board we as a family decided to try the new menu Sunday Lunch.Both the beef and the lamb lunch were superb and cooked just how we like it.Thank you to Simon, Nigel the Chef and all the rest of the Staff, we will definitely be going back!

My husband and I were staying in Godalming last weekend due to a family engagement on Sunday. We wandered into the Three Lions, and we were so glad we did! We had a cracking evening. Great range of beers, great staff, and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back if in the area again!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch this week at a bargain (introductory offer) £5. Home made pie with mash & fresh veg, it was all very fresh & tasty. Menu was nicely varied & I believe something for everyone on offer. Recommended.

Booked ahead for Sunday lunch at 2pm got there early staff were great we sat where we wanted and had our meal earlier than we booked the Sunday lunch was great and the beef melted in your mouth the staff were so helpful they passed on our comments to the chef. We highly recommend this pub

When my family visits the UK each summer, we always make time to see a live music show at Scratchers and have a meal at The Three Lions. It really doesn't get any better than this!

The Locals are friendly, the pub landlords are so lovely! They have a few things going on during the week like Quiz’s on Wednesdays and some amazing bands performing at the end of the week! The best

Although widely known as a music pub, the Three Lions is also a welcoming, proper local pub in the best traditions of 'the local'. The staff are always friendly and ready for a chat and the beer is good. There is a nice garden, which is large enough to accommodate both non-smokers and smokers. There's also parking, but if you all want a drink, there's a station only about 10 minutes walk away.

Went by this morning for our breakfast before work. Absolutely outstanding service and the food made ahead of our visit, in time for us to take to work. Food was fresh and hot and very reasonable in price.

Lovely welcome from staff and locals who had a giggle with us over our order -despite us arriving in the middle of a quiz. We sat outside so as not to disturb the quiz, it is a lovely tiered outdoor space with low lighting which was very conducive for our purposes of catching up and chatting.

Had the best roast Beef here yesterday, lovely home cooked food made with love and great gravy too , there was a guy singing from 4 pm who was great so all in all we had a lovely afternoon eating drinking and singing along , I fully recommend Sunday lunch in this great little boozer , we will be back x

Lovely old pub with a friendly atmosphere. Good selection of beers. Went there to perform at the Open Mic. They hold lots of music events and this was well attended and fun. Recommended!

This is a wonderful local pub. A great selection real ales and wines. All the staff are super friendly and will be returning soon. Can wait for the summer to make use of the garden space.
