Very good service throughout. Whilst we waited a while the knowledge of an order needing to be gluten free was the best I've experienced in ages. The chips were cooked in a fryer used for onion rings so the chef kindly oven cooked them for me. The food was piping hot and for one person working in the kitchen on their own sent out brilliantly. We look forward to breakfast.

We enjoyed a fantastic rib eye steak here, far superior to many other restaurants we have eaten at. Cooked to perfection by friendly and efficient staff. Thank you very much.

We stayed at the Premier Inn for two nights whilst visiting Newbury for the horse racing. As the hotel is located a fair distance from the town centre we ate at the Thyme restaurant on site both nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Jane, Dina and Ari. We used a Bluelight card for a discount on the Friday night and then took advantage of the meal deal for a drink, starter and a main for £16/17 which was great value for money. The menu is very varied. There really is something for everyone. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Premier Inn for four weeks whilst in a course. I ate at the Thyme Bar and Grill most nights. I can honestly say I never had a bad meal. The food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. The pizzas were fantastic and the king prawn starter delicious! I never expect much from chain hotel restaurants but the Thyme bar and grill went above and beyond my expectations. In addition to the food, the service from the staff was great. They are friendly and welcoming. Beth, Sunil and Jane in particular we’re fantastic!

Nice food. Probably it a bit pricey for what you get. Staff friendly and attentive. Food of a good quality, but probably a bit pricey for what you get. Thought about getting a meal deal (with breakfast) but there were lots of exclusions to what drink you could have, and extra cost for certain meals etc. Convenient if you're staying in the attached Premier Inn

Great food for evening meal and breakfast. Very hardworking team. Chef was very busy but nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you Chef.

Staff were excellent, but an hour's wait for three plates of food in a barely half full restaurant is unacceptable.

Great value on a Friday evening, £15 for fish & chips + a pint. The food was perfectly cooked and well presented. Because we were a largish party (9 peeps) we were put in the dining room which lacked atmosphere as we were the only ones in there. There were some big tables in the main pub but they wouldn’t have seated all of us. The bar is we coming and the pub setting is great, surrounded by lovely countryside.

Terrible service completely charmless and rude! Food is satisfactory for a stay in hospital but costs as much as a real restaurant not a basic pub with a tent. Basically “The Old Boot” is for old men with older boots and no money to go anywhere nicer! 😉

Amazing food, fantastic service and such a great price, had the 2 course set lunch menu and the creamy mushroom starter was to die for and the battered haddock and chips was well worth above what they were charging came to £16.95 each which in any other pub you'd expect to pay over that just for the main! Very quiet location, perfect outdoor garden - was great for my 2 year old to run around in! We will be returning - thanks ever so much. Can't review the rooms as we haven't stayed but might be a place I would look to stay as it is a gorgeous pub inside and outside! Dog friendly too so will bring my pooch next time!
