The Taste of England in West Berkshire

This is the 8th time we have eaten here now and wow the food is amazing real juicy burgers. The staff are always welcoming and friendly as are the locals. This is our go to place for food and drink. Thank you and keep up the good work 👏

This is a fantastic pub. Slightly off the beaten track but has a great atmosphere the Landlady, Michelle is very welcoming and friendly. There's a good range of food and beverages available. Plenty of parking and campervans are welcome to park overnight. It's not far off the A34 and I will definitely head back for another visit.

Very friendly staff with very tasty food. Very delighted when I stubbles across this little place.

Very friendly place from staff and other people in the bar. Felt very welcome nd use of a dart board. Defo will be returning.

A great little local place to grab some pub type food, mostly with chips. Reasonably priced. Have a pool table, darts. I take the grandchildren here and they are always welcome. Friendly staff.

Nice food best macaroni cheese I've ever had. Also did a funeral wake for my friend and lots of attention to detail, catering for all dietary needs. S friendly place under new management with lots of improvements in the building underway.

Found this little jem passing through, the lady behind the bar had the most wonderful accent she was sifting through Halloween decorations and still made time to talk, lovely little place

Came in with a group of work colleagues, they were not serving food, after hearing we had already visited another food place that was shut the bar lady happily supplied us with nachos and chips. We are very greatful for your hospitality

Great place to eat. Food is outstanding with very good quality ingredients. 👌 and the prices for the food is very good. Sunday lunch and breakfasts are the best we have had. And the drink price is one of the cheapest around.

We had our Mum's wake at the Taste of England on the 24th March, and we would highly recommend the venue for an occasion. Michelle and crew did a fantastic job looking after us all with plenty of food and choice, there were a lot of us there as our Mum was very popular and it was just perfect. Thank you Michelle and crew you did our Mum proud.

Three of us visited on 2nd April for breakfast and what a breakfast it was all cooked fresh and with two proper butchers sausages too, we will be back !

Went to Taste of England for breakfast. Very very good value and quality. Took a little extra time to come but it is all made fresh. Plenty of tea or coffee. Highly recommend this place. Going to check out the Sunday roast very soon. Very friendly staff and very attentive.

Very nice new owners can't fault

This is a fabulous find, the couple that run it went above and beyond for us on Friday evening and we will be back, great selection of beers spirit and wine charming courtyard seating, level car park, only sad we got there to late to eat

A basic pub created inside an old farm building adjacent to the driving range. Offers TV and bar snacks. Allows motorhomes to overnight stay. Friendly helpful landlord. Worth a visit.

Good basic menu, a warm welcome and cool beer. Close to the A34 and room to park a camper van if you want to fancy breaking your journey for a meal.

This is not quite a pub and not quite a social club. Seems to fall somewhere between the two.Food is excellent. However, it must be said, the kitchen is not always open. (Ring to check first).It has a small agricultural estate nearby and sometimes the workers pop in for a bevvy or two either at lunchtime or on their way home.Darts, pool team, T.V.Very friendly.Worth checking out.

After a reasonable day at Newbury Races (avoiding a lot of drunken people) we eventually arrived at The Taste of England 18.45, hoping for a quiet relaxing pint and some food. Well the kitchen was not open so decide to just have a couple of beers before retiring to our nearby hotel. Well my wife and i were amazed at the number of people who had obviously been racing as well as us. The language was terrible and very loud especially from the females who were there. It appears from listening from some comments from people that this is usual at this establishment and is a regular situation. On the plus side the real ale was good and the gentleman behind the bar was a very nice and friendly person. On the down side it is certainly not a venue to take young children to. I think that what made it worse was finding out that one of the (ladies ?) who was using some very ripe language was "the landlady". We would be interested in visiting again just to see if this establishment is different when there are no race meetings in Newbury.

Me and my cousin went to hit a few golf balls next door to the taste of England and then we decided to grab a quick bite while we were there, the staff were delightful and the food was fresh and full of taste! Fantastic value for money all in all a great place to stop for lunch. Would recommend!

We booked the day before as I know from others that the food is freshly cooked to order, I took the whole family and we had a fantastic Sunday roast with all the trimmings. It really was good, they gave you plenty and it was reasonably priced too. The landlord was a really friendly guy and everyone made us feel really welcome. I have been back since to have a pint and use the free wifi and love the place. If I lived closer it would certainly be my local. If you want a traditional British pub look no further...

This place is a must go for people who wish to see fancy dress at any time. An old tramp wearing a post office coat, a notherner wearing a painter and decorators outfit, another guy pretending to be a bin man, some old lady with blue smurf styled hair, plus many more. Food is advertised but there seems to be the lack of cooking staff and the atmosphere is that of a local pub and not an eating establishment. My second and last visit to this place.

Tried the food first time tonight! The standard was of a typical transport cafe with the addition of a bar! The gammon steak was a typical supermarket offering. There was no flair in either the cooking or the presentation! It was cooked to just the point where if it went further it would be cardboard! The bar prices were higher than I would expect but fitting for the area! Not the place to take someone if you wanted to impress! In general it is a family pub and can only be described as a pub doing bar meals!

i visit the tast of england when on leave from the army obviously not all that often but allways find it a very friendly pub good food well cooked, landlord and landlady on holiday did not know the acting landlord but he managed the pub brilliantly the landlord and landlady must be very relaxed on their holiday knowing its in such good hands

A very disappointed visit to this establishment. The restaurant advertises food sold from 7pm until 9pm and we arrived at 7.30pm to be told the kitchen was closed. Listening to some of the people who were drinking this seemed to be the normal practice. We decided to try again on 3 separate occasions and the same thing each time. The restaurant? (more like a pub) was not very busy with 2 people playing crib in one corner and using some very strange and strong language. a few people playing darts. Not a very welcoming place (unless you were a local).

Good honest pub grub at decent prices. Landlord very welcoming and a nice ale on tap. Building is a converted farm outbuilding which feels a bit like a community hall so slightly surreal atmosphere, but food and welcome makes up for this.

There is not many pubs these days I would like to call my local but this one hits the mark. If you remember when a pub was a place to relax and enjoy a good meal without being rushed,hassled or ripped off this's is the place to visit. In a nice quiet out of town location I should keep this one to myself but I feel I have to share it with you......hope to see you there!.

Well this is a nice quiet country pub with a lovely home feel!This place has recently been refurbished and it is lovely now! After having a very nice chat with the very nice owner, he told me he'd done it up and I must say, what a superb job!I'll be going again!Guest ale on each week and some local bands playing occasionally...Very very nice place to go!
