Lovely building, bad roast experience. Pub dog begging for food, roast looked good but was very mediocre, and dry, not enough gravy. Felt like a school lunch. I don’t mind paying but for £25 a roast should be a lot better. It was a largeplate, neither of us finished.

Had an absolutely delightful lunch here yesterday. Menu is fairly standard, but the food is absolutely delicious and the staff are lovely and very attentive. Steak sandwich with proper homemade chips and cheesy garlic bread were both super yum. Not your average Fuller's! It's a gorgeous, atmospheric 12th C building. Just be warned the carpark is tiny, but it's well worth the trip!

Positives: beautiful pub inside and out in a lovely village. We came for Sunday lunch with two families, we saw the sample menu in advance and knew the Sunday roasts were £21 for beef and chicken or £25 for lamb. Feedback: we were offered cauliflower cheese but weren’t told it was extra, it was £4 per portion. I asked for extra gravy and it was charged at £1.50 but want told it was extra! I’ve never ever been charged for extra gravy in my life. The potato’s were poor. One was black, and they didn’t taste like they were cooked today. Maybe frozen. The beef was ok, but a bit tough. So my meal was £25.50 and it felt poor value for money. I don’t mind paying that at all, but the quality was akin to a Toby carvery at half the price.

Honestly one of the worse pubs ever. I have a family of five and often we enjoy going to new pubs and places together, we went on a walk and decided to have a drink which then turned into us having dinner here. All I need to say is hygiene. One of the most unhygienic places EVER. From the moment you enter to the sticky tables and dirty chairs, even the plates we were served on were dirty. Underneath the plate it was covered in food making me think that they were not washing plates in the dishwasher or just rinsing the top because tell me how all of our plates were covered in condiments underneath when we hadn't ordered starters. We tried to order desserts in which we were told that the Chef needed to go home so we couldn't. I understand that this is a pub and not a restaurant however if you are going to serve food and also charge me service charge I do expect a minimum of good service. The sad part was that the food was actually okay and I wouln't have had a problem if we were served with CLEAN plates and when I took it up with the manager he denied it knowing full well what had happened. As well as denying it he did not even attempt to offer some apologies or vouchers and was completely supporting his chefs decisions because they were "under pressure"

Went today with my son and had a really enjoyable meal. Recommend the cheesy garlic bread! I had butternut squash and goats cheese risotto which was delicious - I've actually had it a couple of times as I like it so much. My son had a burger with rosemary fries, which I pinched quite a few of as I love them! The staff were very nice. The only thing was, it was a little bit chilly in there as the fire wasn't lit. Still, 10 out of 10 and we'll be back.

Extremely disappointing lunch and don't intend to go back. It was busy and there were no free tables in the pub area so we had to eat in the restaurant. We were the only ones in there but, to be fair, the waitress put the lights on and brought an electric radiator to the table but it was behind my friends chair so I didn't feel it. There was really nothing on the main menu that we fancied since it all seemed to be pies or burgers so we settled for a starter and a desert. I wanted lamb kofta but was told there were none left so my friend and I settled for duck pate with sourdough toast and chutney. The pate was quite tasty but came with two small pieces of toast which I'm not at all convinced were sourdough, and plainly not enough, and no butter. The toast was gone in seconds so we asked if we could have some more bread or toast as we both had quite a bit of pate left. The waitress came back some time later with what was basically one piece of bread cut up into small triangles for which we found we had been charged an extra £2. 10% service charge added as well but for what we do not know since it's fairly impossible to go to a pub or restaurant and eat without someone serving you. We should have complained but there was one young girl struggling to process the payment while being chastised by the waitress about using the wrong till. We just wanted to leave.

Visited again recently with a friend, a bit dissapointing if im honest. The food wasn't as good as last visits, perhaps a new chef but certainly a difference. The rolls are far to thick and difficult to eat as a sandwich, the fish was a bit squishy if im honest and practically non existent compared to the roll! The plum/pear crumble which sounded amazing, wasnt really a crumble! the plums could of done with the skin taken off and smaller chunks and the 'crumble' was a soft brown sugary layer on the top which wasn't baked! It was dark and cold inside considering a freezing day, 1 tiny fire lit. Really quite dissapointing as have been going for years. Such a shame my friend didn't enjoy it either. Have to say though staff are always 'very' pleasant and polite 😊.

Went for lunch with a friend today. First impressions were a nice venue but bitterly cold. There was no heating on and the staff seemed unable to successfully light the woodburner, however, they did manage to fill the dining room with smoke! So on to the food …. we both opted for roast turkey as it’s nearly Christmas. When it arrived it looked like a school dinner, a couple of slices of round processed turkey, very lumpy not seasoned inedible mashed potatoes, some shredded cabbage and peas, a disc of stuffing and a pot of runny gravy. Everything but the stuffing was tasteless and colourless. The one member of staff was pleasant enough but did not react at all when I said it was the worst lunch I’ve ever had! We were not asked why, or offered anything to compensate. I would not recommend or return any time soon.

Lunchtime 20th December. Food was atrocious, service very poor, atmosphere unpleasant. We both had turkey from main menu (since it was christmas week and there was no actual christmas menu available) turkey was tasteless, mash potato was extremely lumpy, disgusting and like wallpaper paste - inedible. Whole meal tasted bland and was worse than any school dinner. Cranberry sauce came in the jar, already opened, poor presentation. The restaurant was so cold we sat with coats on. Staff tried to light fire 4 times & smoked us out whilst doing it. Failed to light fire so we remained cold and couldnt wait to get out of there to warm up. No customer service whatsoever. When we said the mash was lumpy reply was 'oh sorry'. When paying we commented that it was the worst meal we've ever had but there was absolutely no reaction at all - no words, just a stunned waitress who was working the shift singlehanded out front of house, taking money, cleaning tables, serving food, oh and trying to light a fire! Service charge was automatically added - needless to say we asked for it to be removed since the whole experience was so substandard. Far too expensive for the standard of food and service. Had dessert elsewhere. Will not go back.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of dining at the greyhound on Sunday 9th October. We were a table of 3 and all ordered roast Beef, when the food came out we had 1 worthless piece of beef which was tough as hell, it also came with no Yorkshire puddings. When I asked our server how much was I paying, I asked her to take it back to the chef and ask if he thought his plate of food worthy of the £18.95. The plate came back and I was told that the chef would bring me a 2nd slice which again was cold and tough. My 2 dining partners were not offered any thing extra. To top it all off, the cleanliness of the pub is not great, with a number of insects and pests being on the tables and in the carpets. I can honestly say that the pub is very over rated.

Would not rate the roast dinner. No beef left. Then there was not enough chicken left to cover the place settings for our table. Pork that came out was awful. Vegetables served were swede and red cabbage- where were the greens?? Parsnips undercooked. Potatoes rock hard- couldn't get the knife through them. My poor nan couldn't cut her own food up (how demeaning!) Chicken overcooked (or sat there for the day). Had to ask for extra gravy as hardly any on plates- charged for that. Charged for a few extra biscuits for cheese boards. Coffee was cold- by this time I didn't even have the energy to say anything. Then came to pay the bill and service charge of £21 already added on. Safe to say this was the first and last time we will be visiting. Such a shame as we are local and enjoy eating out as a large party. We were excited to eat here as well!

Man who stands behind the bar, was rude as soon we walked in, made us really uncomfortable and the atmosphere odd as we were sat right next to the bar where he was. Not sure if he was just having a bad day, but don’t take it out on customers

We have been to the Greyhound several times recently and all visits have been an excellent experience. It is on lovely walking routes around Sulham and Pangbourne. A friendly welcome, great drinks and really very good pub food. Will keep going back!

The Greyhound pub is a very old, thatched pub with low wood beams and a cosy feel. There is a large less cosy feeling extension on the rear of the pub, for larger groups but the bar and other tables are in the old party of the pub. We had a warm welcome, the football was on for those who wanted to watch (I think this was just for the World Cup), the two points I ordered came in at £9.90, which for this area is very reasonable. We weren't there for food but they do have a full menu. Parking is at the front of the property, not sure if there's more, as probably only 10 spaces.

Wonderfully friendly locals, but without sufficient heating 🥶🥶🥶 and the staff seemingly more keen on cleaning tables than making us feel welcome, the overall impression wasn't even close to previous experiences. Past its prime?!

This is the 8th time we have eaten here now and wow the food is amazing real juicy burgers. The staff are always welcoming and friendly as are the locals. This is our go to place for food and drink. Thank you and keep up the good work 👏

We booked lunch here because the reviews are good and the location worked with family coming from different directions. Our overarching feeling is that we felt rushed and that the staff were abrupt. The food was good but it certainly didn’t feel as relaxing as other locations that we have visited. It was quite busy so maybe that is the reason?

Oh dear... A group of us, six to be prosice came for dinner last night. We were seated after 5 mins, given menus and water for the table, drinks were ordered pretty quickly and delivered. That's when it all went down hill. The two waiters pretty much ignored us, they were too busy cleaning a separate room. We had to ask for our order to be taken. One guest had to go to the bar and return a coke as it had a weird smell, which the bartendar agreed. Dirty dishwater! We sat waiting for our food. There was only one other table of six in the restaurant. After waiting 25mins we asked the bartender (waiters were busy still sorting the other room) to see how are food was doing. He bought the ticket to us and said there was a 30-40 min wait for food on a table our size..6 of us. The waiters were too busy to tell us this. When the food arrived one of the guest had ordered the vege tagine which contain grilled chicken! Again we had to grab the waiter to sort this. The other table of six also had to get up twice to find the waiters to clear the table and ask for pudding menus. Food was average and the waiters were well below average. Customer service needs addressing and training your waiters to be waiters would be good. The Menu Sounded good but was not executed We won't return much better pubs in the area.!

Helen hizo un gran trabajo alimentando a nuestro grupo de diecinueve campanilleros en poco tiempo entre visitar dos iglesias locales. Excelente servicio, comida y cerveza. No podría haber sido mejor.
