Threes a Crowd in Harrogate

We enjoy the specialist events Threes A Crowd runs & having previously attended their Burns Night, Call My Bluff wine tasting night & a gin based evening we were looking forward to a Rum based menu & we weren't disappointed. We first given an arrival cocktail 'Old Jamaican' which was a delicious opener. The canape was a superb little patty containing sweet potato, spinach & Scotch bonnet with a Creole mayo. I was a bit worried it would be too spicy but it was perfectly flavoured. The starter was a delicious saltfish fritter with a chili & tomato tartar that did have a bit of a kick but very tasty. The main was a chargrilled jerk chicken ( see photo of menu for accompaniments) . The whole party was impressed with their main especially the coconut mint & lime yoghurt. After all that I didn't think there would be room for desert but the pineapple upside down cake with a rum based toffee sauce was to die for. It was an effort not to lick the plate! This was all finished off with an after dinner cocktail called Rum Away With Me a delicious drink with chocolate orange flavours. The waiting staff were very attentive & knowledgeable especially Amber who looked after us superbly. Congratulations to Casey the chef for all of his & the teams effort. We will definitely be going to their next speciality dinner.

What a beautiful meal with terrific service from Ed and Amber. The food was simple but delicious, plentiful and of excellent quality.

Fish tasted a bit odd and left me with upset stomach. Friend had oysters and wqs violently sick. Nice setting and service but really not good experience. Others in party had charcuterie which had very little bread, not much on offer and seemed very overpriced

This was sadly a disappointing experience. I ordered the aubergine (the only vegetarian main) but was told it wasn’t available. As I do eat meat, I switched to the duck. When it came it was a very small portion and overcooked (though my friend also had the duck and hers looked better). The knife I was given was also oddly blunt and it was difficult to cut both the meat and the veg. Service was a little slow, though polite. They only came to see if the food was ok after I had finished. The redeeming feature: the chips on the side were excellent. Given the quality of food and service we received, the meal felt overpriced. Won’t be rushing back.

Visiting the area, thought I’d try a new place based on reviews, big mistake. The only thing I fancied on the short menu unavailable with no alternative offered. Tomato salad? Quartered tomatoes with blobs of mayo £8.50 I don’t think so. Triple cooked ie burnt chips with fish, if you order duck breast, that’s what it is, piece of fennel included, very generous with meatball, sorry duck Bon Bon, £26, they’re having a laarf as a friend of mine might say, then to top it it off compulsory service charge, no thanks, total rip off.

On a business trip I visited this great place twice and found the team warm friendly and highly professional. The place is buzzy with a relaxed atmosphere. The food is superb and the house wines excellent which is always a good indicator of a well run place where the wine list will be imaginative and great value. A must try.

We held my sons 18th Birthday Party at Three’s a crowd in the outside bar area which was fabulous. The staff were all great and looked after us very well. Th food was fabulous and came out as requested. The whole team were helpful both in the run up to the party and on the night. THANK YOU so much.

Popped in for a quick lunch as we were staying nearby and although it was a late Monday lunchtime ourcwaitress Meredith was fun helpful and attentive...we ordered the salmon salad and chicken escalope ....and a bottle of rose...perfect...defo will be back

We booked the private dining room for a family meal and it was great. Sabrina the events manager was so helpful in the booing process and we loved our meal. The bar area was packed upon arrival which created a good atmosphere so we were hopeful for a great experience. The choice of food was very limited and rather bizarre. We decided on mussels for starter, they were the size of peanuts. With a salty water in the bottom, looked and tasted like a dissolved oxo cube. It was so salty the chap on the next table sent his mussels back saying they were inedible. We ate our starters but then decided not to even stay for a main course. The waitress was absolutely delightful we couldn’t fault the service. The location is great, staff great over priced food. Such a shame. We will return for a drink but not food.

Had a really bad experience last night with for example the moules starter was 9 mussels 3 of which were empty and the broth was pure salt. Mains to an age to arrive even though the restaurant was largely empty and my salmon had an odd sweet congealed sauce. The young waiting staff were great but the food and non existent managers let them down. When we asked for the moules to be taken off our bill we had to wait until the manager had finished her break. On leaving various customers appeared to allow their dogs on the seats and paws on tables ... not a place we will return to.

A lovely, family & dog friendly pub with a great atmosphere! I went for dinner on Easter Sunday and had the lamb steak and I can truthfully say the lamb just melted in my mouth, it was beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being in your face. Highly recommend a visit!

We'd never been here before and I knew nothing out TAC but told was very good. It's a bar / restaurant combo and the acoustics in the dining area are poor. The menu is limited ( by design) which I get. It is overpriced for what you get. The major failing of the evening was the complete inability of being able to handle the amount of covers. Once our orders had been taken and the big hand on the clock had travelled a significant distance we were advised that, due to a party dining upstairs, our food would be slightly delayed. Apologies were made and a couple of bowls of olives and dipping bread brought to make up for it. A nice gesture, it wasn't late and thought nothing more of it. The starters were brought in dribs and drabs to the extent that when the last ones were brought most of our party had finished theirs. Nothing was said and we got on with our chit chat of putting the world to right. However, the big hand again began to creep round and round to the extent our main courses arrived 1 1/2 hours after we ordered. That is taking the proverbial Papa India Sierra Sierra and isn't acceptable. Compounding the inordinate delay was the lack of courtesy to tell us when the main courses would arrive; there was a concerted effort to keep refilling our drinks. I can't recall what everyone had. I opted for whitebait as a starter ( average and over cooked) and the Featherblade Steak( £24) for my main. The dimly lit dining area did a terrific job of disguising the actual portion size; paltry, not impressed. Two small chunks of beetroot and croquettes completed the dining experience. By the time we'd finished our main courses the consensus was to give dessert a miss. We asked for the bill and quelle surprise it arrived before you could say Bob's your uncle! But the piece de resistance was that despite appalling delays and haphazard delivery of dishes they had no qualms whatsoever in sticking a £50 service charge on top. More front than Blackpool promenade. That then brought us to a dilemma; do we say anything about it or let it slide. This establishment features a Michelin sign outside. I don't know what that actually means however taking into account what they charge for their dishes it's not unreasonable to say they consider their patrons to have an element of taste. A very discrete word was had with I don't know who exactly and they acknowledged the failings and made an appropriate adjustment. That was genuinely appreciated however had they shown any class whatsoever someone of an appropriate level of seniority should have come over well before we asked for the bill, made a genuine apology and asked what they could do to make things right. They didn't and that speaks volumes. This isn't that popular Portuguese chicken restaurant, this place proudly displays a Michelin sign. Won't be returning.

We have just had an absolute blast at the Three’s A Crowd Sunday Lunch for Mother’s Day. We arrived early and grabbed a drink in the bar, which was full of life. Bella looked after us perfectly, making sure we had water and breads quickly. We all had beef, which both looked and tasted delicious. The cauliflower cheese is worth the supplement. Was so glad we found space for pudding; both the sticky toffee pudding and honeycomb/chocolate mousse were bang on! Friendly service, lovely vibe, great food and nice wine and cocktail lists all make it super easy to recommend this fab bar!

Sunday lunch outing, waited 45 minutes after ordering . Then was told there is a delay due to a function upstairs . The waiter said she did not know there was a function ?? eventually the food did come COLD.

£20 Sunday lunch and it was poor! Bad cut of meat served with 2 roast potatoes and some peas. Yorkshire pudding was good though! So many choices in Harrogate go somewhere else!

Perhaps we visited on a bad day, because the other reviews are glowing. We went for a Sunday lunch for a birthday celebration, and the whole experience was awful. The staff were rude and disinterested. They ignored us for ages whilst they were trying food with the chef and then when we went up to ask if someone could come take drinks they snapped at us that it was table service. A girl then come over with an attitude and said "what do you want then?". If I weren't in a group I would have upped and left at this point. The staff continued with this attitude throughout - rolling eyes and huffing at eveything. I've been for drinks at the Leeds branch and they were so lovely, so I don't know what Harrogate is doing with the staff but yikes, they act like interacting with customers is beneath them... but still want to get the automatic tip they put on the bill (which we paid but it bothers me this is expected with no effort to offer good or even average service). The Sunday lunch was one of the worst I've seen. In the region on £20 - £24, the only veg was one slice of carrot and some peas, but a giant yorkie makes it look impressvie. You have to pay £5 or so extra per side if you want any other veg. The beef was inedible, it was like rubber, and half of it was fat. It seemed like it was actually a good cut of meat but maybe just cooked badly. To be fair, they did apologise for this and knock a few of the mains off when we explained about the meat and they could see no one had been able to eat it. As I said, perhaps we were unlucky and the staff were all tired or something, but I would not recommend. Try Leeds.

We booked the private room here for after our wedding. We had a mix of kids and adults and the staff looked after us brilliantly. They made it all so perfect and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They’d even gone to the trouble of giving the kids little party bags, it was such a lovely touch. The food was excellent and we’re planning to come back again soon. Perhaps leaving the kids at home next time!

What a great afternoon. Started with a few of the signature cocktails as we arrived early to chat before dinner. Once sat at our table service was flawless patient staff waited til we had made decisions and were really helpful throughout. Amber looked after us and deserves a gold star as she was on hand throughout and helped with cocktail selections. She was on the ball and very friendly. Thanks a lot guys see yoh soon.

Amazing, atmosphere, fantastic food and great service. Been here so many times, and it has never let me down. The food is great but it’s the service that makes the place, and Bella absolutely makes the experience.

We rented out the private dining room upstairs for a surprise birthday dinner. From start to end the team at Three’s a Crowd put in every effort to make it a successful surprise and lovely evening! Fern from the events team was an absolute pleasure, and was very patient with our ever changing number of guests. Bella was the perfect host, great sense of humour and so attentive. The food was delicious too! We were given lots of freedom to decorate the room how we wanted which also made the evening really special. Huge thanks to the team!!

Perfecf Sunday Lunch when you are feeling lazy, highly reccomend getting the cauliflower on the side! Not the cheapest but worth every penny.
