Great place lovely staff dog friendly and have the sweetheart of a waitress who’s only 13 who works so hard to please the customers and make them laugh the landlord doesn’t care who you are and treats you like he’s known you for years it’s amazing so cozy

We went in Sunday evening after being at the Harrogate Flower Show at Newby Hall. They don't normally serve food on a Sunday night but the owners wife said she would do us anything off the main menu other than the curry. My wife and I both ordered the Sausage & Mash and it was magnificent. The best Sausage and Mash I've ever had. They didn't need to do it, most places would have said no, and that would be that, but no, they made us both the best meal we've had in ages. Definatley 5 stars, oh, and the Timothy Taylors Landlord was perfect too...😀😀😀

Nice pint but avoid if you want to watch euro24 as there is rather loud music playing

No vegetarian options. Goldfish kept in small tank with no filtration the only thing cleaner then its water were the seats and they were terrible. Table horribly sticky. Only stayed for one drink which was standard.

Avoid if you're not a local they don't want your custom.

Popped in for anything to eat and ended up with a beautiful roast with an enormous selection of vegetables. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Brilliant afternoon, thank you!

We arrived late evening at B&B in Grewelthorpe. Hostess recommended the Queen's Head, so off we went. The kitchen was about to close, but stayed open for us, which was lovely. Some great selections on the menu, but when the food came out... OMG! This is home cooked food for people with a BIG appetite! Very generous, well cooked meals. Perfect after a long travel to Yorkshire.

Unless your a local dont bother!!!called the pub in advance for a table when we got there we orderd drinks and asked for a menu!!only to be told that theres a cue and these people will be getting food before you!i dont expect to jump the cue and just went and sat down with my drinks!!other people came in the pub and what i assumed was the landlord he was going round tables asking the if they knew what they were ordering!!totally ignoring us when we had 2 young children.needless to say we drank up and took our custom elsewhere!!we had come for a break and wernt staying far from this pub,it also came recommended but i wont be recommending it to anyone and wont be returning!!!its lacking in customer service skills

£15 lunch special for 2 courses really good value for money. The squid, garlic mushrooms and dirty burgers were all delicious. Nice ambience too.

Brilliant venue, a proper British pub, serving excellent food, the cook a lovely lady was spot on, leaving her dad to run the bar serving excellent beer. We stayed at the nearby cottage and enjoyed a few visits to the pub which was always welcoming.

This is an amazing pub. We were staying on local campsite and booked into here for Sunday Lunch, big group of 18 children and adults. Staff very friendly and making sure all food requirements were met. This is our second year coming to the pub and I can honestly say Rocky and the staff are lovely. After lunch we played pool and have a sing along with the junk box. We will be back next year. Thank you very much again.

We’ve eaten an evening meal and Sunday lunch and we’re going back again tomorrow! The food is home cooked, generous portions and excellent value. The landlord and landlady plus their staff, give you a warm friendly welcome and nothing is too much trouble. A place where everyone is welcomed.

The Queens Head manage a terrific balancing act in running a traditional country pub that is also great for families. Our grandchildren had a terrific time. Food wise, we were a very large extended family group and we were all very well looked after. There is a great range of food options for kids on offer and they even did a couple of ‘off menu’ items for our fussy eaters. The adult meals were standard pub fare but very well cooked, using good quality ingredients in generous portions. We will certainly return next time we’re in the area.

Food ok, but not a good place for families if you are not a local. Bar man picked on visiting children rather than local children.

Called into the pub while stopping at a local campsite. A real hidden gem, An extremely warm welcome and the drinks were spot on. we decided to eat there as well, and I'm so glad we did as the food was incredible with large portions and excellent quality . We all ordered a different meal, but all four were top notch and couldn't be faulted.

We recently stopped in a nice little village in North Yorkshire called Grewelthorpe. The pub in the village is currently closed. So I used google to find a local dog friendly pub and the Queen's Head in Kirkby Malzeard came up as a choice. So I booked a table for an early Saturday evening meal. The pub is a nice village pub, good parking, a good selection of beers and a decent food menu. After advise from the landlord we chose the fish and chips, it was a very good choice. The next time that we are back in North Yorkshire if possible I would use this pub again.

Staying at a local holiday park with outdoor cooking facilities in the pouring rain, so needed a dry, welcoming location for my husband’s 60th birthday dinner. The Queen’s Head was my saviour - a little rural pub with a large car park tucked behind and a blazing fire . Arrived late on Friday just as the food menu should have finished to a warm and friendly welcome from the landlord and regulars. The landlady kindly agreed to keep cooking and whipped up a wonderful meal in record time. Scampi and Butterfly chicken melt were delicious and the chips the best we’ve had in many years. Accompanying salad both pretty and original with strawberries and blueberries to garnish. Very generously sized portions for a fair price. Our thanks also to the friendly regulars who were happy to share their experiences of walking in this area with us. A really enjoyable evening in a proper cosy pub. Many thanks to one and all!

Amazing food super generous portions of food but all good quality and well seasoned and cooked. Quite a few gluten free options. Super dog friendly and really nice landlord and staff. Can't reccomend highly enough.

Tonight we had the pleasure of visiting the Queens Head with our 22month old whilst staying nearby. Staff were wonderful and the locals were friendly too. Food was superb, fresh and locally sourced. They even made our little girl scrambled eggs which wasn’t on the menu. We had a game of pool and picked songs on the jukes box whilst our food was been prepared. We will definitely be back. Don’t let looks fool you, as yes the pub needs a bit of tlc (currently having renovations) but it is clean and so welcoming. Our girl took a shine to the landlord. Thank you so much for your hospitality - wish you guys were our local!

Called in for drinks and a meal while staying at local campsite at the end of February. The Timothy Taylor beer was first class. Ordered Gammon which came with lovely chips, egg, pineapple & salad. The gammon was perhaps the best I've ever had, nice and chunky.

A traditional pub with superb hosts. Beer kept and poured superbly. We had a Sunday Roast dinner with super generous portions. We all left very happy.

Good service and good quality Sunday lunch. Well priced. Vegetarian mushroom Wellington was of high quality. Large portions, plenty of meat, vegetables and gravy.

A fabulous warm and friendly welcome was received by our large group of kids and parents, whilst camping in the area over the BH weekend. Our hosts did all they could to make our afternoon in the pub a memorable one, and the Sunday Roast was something to write home about as well, clean plates all around. Top marks to the landlord, landlady, bar staff and their young waitress starting her first ever shift. I only wish we lived nearer.

Wondered in footsore and starving. Fire, dog friendly, muddy boot friendly and took pity on us. They were fully booked, but found us a little table and what a Sunday lunch!! Phenomenal vegetable selection, 9 different veg excluding roasties and new poatoes, all cooked to perfection, delicious gravy and a choice of Beef, Pork or chicken. We had beef and Pork, juicy and succulent, crispy crackling, and we will definitely be back!!

We are visiting the area for a family camping holiday. Great little local and very friendly staff. Delicious food. Sports shown and pool table. Beer garden out the back too. Dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the local area.

Fabulous meal here, had a couple of pizzas and a parmo. Both homemade from scratch and couldn’t fault either. Generous portions and truly delicious. Very welcoming. Highly recommended

We visited from Liverpool over the weekend and we where greeted with a warm friendly welcome from the owners of this family run pub. The food is excellent, I had the steak and ale pie with chips, highly recommended!, loads of beef and tasted great. We booked back in for the next day and had the roast dinner, loads of meat again and a gorgeous Yorkshire pudding, Just wish I had more roasties! I would visit here again

Warm atmosphere and good home cooked food - great sausages, steak and ale pie, loads of nicely cooked veg and some of the butteriest mash. Recommended.

Social distancing? What's that? Sorry, it put us right off staying there to eat. Never mind.

Relaxed atmosphere, very accommodating landlord, good beer, great food. Well worth a visit.

Good food, simple menu. Unfortunately, the older male and female server need to understand customer service should be the first priority in a customer service business. Treating customers like mates you've known for 10 years when they approach the bar comes off as very rude. Also, don't allow dogs if you can't stand when they bark; especially when it's a young one. We were told to "hurry up cause we haven't got all night", after being outside for 1 hour and a half waiting, "shut your dog up or you'll have to go" and most likely more out back. The server even told us the owners are scared of our dog, she was just afraid because she's a puppy and has never been in a pub, which was explained to the server. The worst part is there was no communication and welcome to or even any kind of attempt to understand the situation which would've made the situation a lot better for us and them. Even when ringing their attitude was appalling and rude, telling me things like "sorry the reception is bad", I mean seriously? I won't be returning here, neither will anyone else that came with me and it's not surprising the bar is empty, despite being told their earliest booking was 1 hour plus later.

Good food nice staff and friendly locals made this a welcoming visit to the village. The chicken Parmo was huge. Highly recommended

Huge (and I mean HUUGGE) portions on the food menu, and excellent quality too. Seriously love a bargain :) The landlord and lady were very welcoming and these a selection of local ales as well as the usual draught beers.

I’m embarrassed to write that I had a low expectation of my meal however it was delicious. Home cooked ham, soft bread, delicious salad including strawberries and hand cut chips all appetisingly presented.

This is a great family run pub very helpful and accommodating.We have been staying at the Ivy Bank camp site every month and we have made the Queens our local.If you are looking for good pub food this is the place for you.We will be back in August!

Really nice pub, that accommodates families. The food was lovely home cooked food and a good selection of beers. We will definitely be returning.

Really impressed with our meal at the Queens Head this weekend - camping nearby, we had booked in advance and pre ordered as we were a party of 15, we were told that as we had ordered several pizzas (teenagers!) and they could only cook two pizzas at a time, the food wouldn’t all come together, that was fine by us as we knew in advance! And it was worth waiting for - all home made and cooked to order, absolutely delicious, I would say the food was exceptional. Also the service - the staff were very friendly, smiley and welcoming - the hottest weekend of the year and it can’t have been much fun for the cook slaving over a hot stove! The pub has retained that traditional ‘local pub’ vibe but has a clean and beautifully decorated restaurant area, - it’s a family run pub and they owners obviously enjoy their work and were extremely accommodating. We will definitely be back, the village is so pretty and I can imagine the pub would be a cosy place for a pint in the winter too. If I had one criticism I would say that the descriptions of the food on the menu and specials board didn’t convey how delicious it would be - the black pudding starter and the Cajun melt in particular were favourites x

We were camping just up the lane from the Queen's Head. Very friendly owners Jocky and Sue. Provided info on local places. We adopted the pub for our early evening drink and a game of backgammon (our own set). We didn't eat there as we were camping but the food looked lovely and a good choice too. One of the only places open in the area on a Monday & Tuesday

Called in whilst camping at nearby woodhouse farm whilst getting supplies at the village shop. I had a lovely half a moretti. Very friendly pub landlord and locals alike with a pool table dart board big tv's what more can you ask. With definately return next time we are up.
