comment_iconOpinions

Yes definitely, great pint well looked after beer and lager best pint in village. Actually the cheapest pint also but they are a free house and not greedy. The whole roast was fresh, meat to die for! proper home made gravy only wish we had eaten here before, lived here 1.5 years always dined at others in the village. I judged a book by its cover!! fully hands up its dated and others in village are more modern but wow thankyou so much 💗 it's the actual owner that cooks too, very rare these days. I'm so glad we didn't have starters though the plate was very plentiful indeed. Thanks once again will definitely be back next week .... perfection, quality price and service 💯

If you're looking for a restaurant review you're in the wrong place. The Three Horseshoes is typical pub grub, home cooked, well presented with pleasant, helpful staff. We called in for Sunday lunch. My wife's Prawn Cocktail was generously loaded with prawns, my vegetable soup served in a large bowl, piping hot with a large teacake and butter. Our Sunday roasts - lots of tasty chicken for her, thick tender portions of roast beef for me. Served with Yorkshire puds, roast and mashed potatoes, broccoli, green beans and carrots. Honestly, there was so much beef they put the last chunk in foil to take way. Just too much there for me to eat. Everything, including drinks , is modestly priced and excellent value for money. We will be back.

Excellent Sunday Lunch ! All the usual meats, fish and vegetarian dishes. Roast Beef was a huge Yorkshire portion well presented with roast potatoes, Yorkshire, mash, green beans, carrots, brocoli, mash and gravy all for £11:00 and the beef was beautifully tender and piping hot. Large menu to chose from including sandwiches and baguettes. Well done Alison and the team. Would highly recommend.

The availability of lunch was advertised outside the entrance of this pub restaurant, but when we entered we needed to ask for menus, which were provided from behind the bar, which has an old style traditional layout. The range of food available was quite extensive, and orders were placed and paid for at the bar. When served we felt that the food was a little basic, but did provide good value for money. There are several rooms in the pub some dominated by large TV's, and there is also seating on the outside frontage. We considered "average" to fairly describe our overall experience.

Being honest we did arrive 10 minutes late didn't the staff let us know that throughout! My son overheard the barman calling us tossers! Older waitress came to take our order and didn't even speak! Our mains came, my son asked for a medium steak which was cremated and looked poor quality, he couldn't eat it, we asked to return it. My other son had a burger and couldn't eat it, got better at a burger van. Steak still hadn't arrived so we asked how long it would be, we then heard the chef being abusive regarding us. We decided to leave as we did not feel comfortable. No apology was offered and just said well you were late, although there was hardly anyone in. Only positive was that the 2 young waitresses were polite but feel sorry for them working in that environment. This spoilt my Mothers Day.

We have often visited the 'Shoes before for Sunday lunch, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays etc, so we decided to use the same venue for an Over 50's Table Tennis Christmas Lunch. We were not disappointed at all. We had a Christmas lunch that was pre-booked - (ie NOT an off-the-menu meal), crackers on the table, piped festive-music throughout, choice of desserts. Some people in the group were apprehensive about going to a pub for this kind of event; however, there was nothing but compliments towards the venue, the menu and the staff. Nothing was too much trouble - we asked, they provided! They were proactive in checking final numbers and the staff were keeping everyone happy. Couldn't fault it at all.

Ok honest review. I'm not a food, snob or stuck up and generally happy with good old pub grub. Im just an avatar no bloggs and I can honestly say this was rank! My husband had a burger which was huge and looked OK, it was at least edible and ok at best. My chilli and nachos was vile I actually begrudge paying for them and had it of been down to me I wouldn't of but the hubby doesn't like to make a fuss. The mince was not even any resemblance to even the cheap frozen mince the only part I ate was the dry nachos because it was lunch and frankly I was starving! Very unfriendly welcome initially as my husband asked if they had anywhere we could eat with our little dog. Very abruptly told we could eat in the room with the pool table. Normally we would have walked at this point , however we had been walking and hadn't found anywhere else serving food. The meal when it did arrive was possibly the worst we have ever been served. The half chicken looked more like a dried up sparrow and the chips (processed) appeared to have been fried in last years oil. Coleslaw and salad was ok but spoilt by the addition of couscous. The beer was good though and they did bring water for dog.

First of all, I would not recommend coming here if it's a nice meal you're looking for. The place itself is very dated and in need of redecorating. Some of the backs of the chairs were broken and really shouldn't have been for use. Clutter everywhere along the window sills etc which was a shame as the huge old windows with the decorated glass were just lost against the mess.Staff were reasonably friendly and showed us the menu board and asked us if we'd want drinks.Food is served throughout the day.Sunday lunch was advertised and looked like a good buy- 1 course was £8.50, 2 courses was £10.50 and 3 courses was £13.50.We ordered food and it just was not a very good standard. Starter- mozzarella dippers and chilli sauce was ok but nothing to shout about and the side salad was dire.Main- The beef was very thin, tough and gristly, the potatoes were undercooked, the gravy was very thin and had a funny taste to it. Veg was cooked quite well- the best part of the whole meal was the carrots!!We did not stay to sample and desserts. Was really looking forward to a good pub Sunday lunch but was left disappointed. Not worth the money and won't be returning. Beside the fact it is a pub and the drinks were cheap, there was nothing redeeming about this place! Loud, unsightly, i did feel like later on in the day once everyone had a few too many i may be ruffled up if not careful. The lady behind the bar was friendly enough, but having a foreign accent did not do me any favours as I got looks i was not happy with, I may have been paranoid, but did not feel like one of the many regulars there. She was never rude or slow on service, but you do get a feel for a place by the way you are served.Food: would not eat it again if it was free! Portions were generous, but not tasty at all, thank goodness i had a few beers before hand or would have sent the whole parties food back! Again no one was rude or anything of the sort, but very bland, and looks like a regulars only pub.A helpful hint : SALAD DRESSING, even just olive oil and vinegar!

We stayed nearby at the Crown so had already eaten when we called in for a drink.Inside it is like going into a time warp. The wood, glass and mirrors are a joy to behold. They certainly don't make pubs like this any more. There was a TV with Sky football on and a pool table tucked away at one end but it still had plenty of atmosphere. The menu looked varied and well priced with large portions. There was a good selection of cask beers and the three that I tried were all clear and well kept. We will call in again next time that we are in the area.

After riding through 25 miles of rain from Pateley Bridge on the Way of the Roses ride, the four of us were very keen to rest and have lunch in Boroughbridge. The welcome in the Three Horsehoes was warm and very friendly, as for the next 90 minutes, the landlady let us dry off, offered to dry or clothes in the tumble dryer and let us use their games room to relax and have a home-cooked lunch, which was great value.

We discovered this place by accident,we could not find a place that had suitable child menus. We ate there twice because the food was excellent, fresh produce at great prices.I cannot compare it to other restaurants in the area because we felt that when we had found a gem we might as well stick with it. One word of warning about three horseshoes dont eat a lot before you go the portions are huge

We eat at the Three Horse Shoes Regularly when we can't be bothered to cook for ourselves!. The food is always tasty with a good choice of dishes whether you want a full meal or just a snack. The starters and puddings are huge as are the mains so you definitely won't go away hungry. The staff are friendly and helpful and you never have to wait long for your meal. Perhaps not the place to go if you want a romantic table for two but if you want to join in with the locals and have a laugh as well as a first class good value meal than the Shoes is the place to go. Try the homemade Chicken Kiev or the Mixed Grill.

Im not a snob really, but this is very much down market and attracts many race clientele who tip up in bus loads....they have a whale of a time,....and in summer where are always customers outside by roadside, tattoos and vests. Need I say more.

We have recently returned from a 5 night trip to Boroughbridge and ate at the Three Horseshoes on four of those days. The food was really good on each occasion with generous portions at very reasonable costs. Staff are very friendly and obliging. We shall certainly eat there again. If you are very hungry try the mixed grill!

Eight of us visited The Kestrel for lunch. We were greeted and shown to our table immediately. The room was lovely and warm with a nice atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and efficient, she brought crayons and a puzzle page, for my grandson without being asked. Some of us chose the Christmas menu which was available without ordering in advance. We all had two or three courses and everything was nicely cooked and presented. Hopefully we can visit again soon.

Handy for a cuppa after work or during a shop. The cafe is situated in the simply food store and it’s clients are generally local. Good service and bright and airy cafe. Huge windows mean it gets very hot in sunny weather. No outside seating.

Fuimos a la cafetería para desayunar antes de una prueba de trabajo. Muy buena comida, precios muy razonables con especialidades diarias. Recarga gratis en té y café. El personal es sin duda volveré

We chose here to eat while travelling 400 miles from Aberdeen to Wacton in our electric car. The food was good. The staff were friendly but service was slow. My wife had soup and I had a main. That took about 40-45 minutes. I then had to go and move the car. When I left we asked the staff if my wife could order a sweet. We explained we were rushing. When I can back she still hadn't got it. By the time she got it we had been there a good 1hr 15 min. Disappointing as no notice was taken of our polite indication we were rushing.
