Thornbury Tandoori in South Gloucestershire

Been here loads of times actually use to love the curry’s but after tonight will never go back, ordered a chicken tikka dhansak, was absolutely no spice at all, never been so disappointed in my life. Actually fuming your lucky your shut now otherwise I would be back and launch it at your face. Never in my life have I had a dhansak with no spice Bombay aloo was definitely not fresh, all clumped together, no juice or sauce. Few mouthfuls and chucked it in the bin. Lost a good customer.

Came to the tandoori today not my first time and as always the food was amazing. Service outstanding. Drinks loveky as well. Opal was a great host much recommend I will be back.

Worst takeaway I’ve ever eaten. Jelfrazi completely bland with no spice whatsoever just a load of raw green chilli’s thrown in, chicken was tough and tasteless, port from day before. Paratha was burned and completely inedible.

The best Indian takeaway in thornbury

Went in for the first time when we moved to Thornbury. My partner is vegan so we were. Little worried but Opal was absolutely brilliant in assuring us as to the vegan options. There is a small section on the back but there are also a few other bits that can be ordered too. She was a bit unsure as to what to choose and ended up just taking Opals recommendation after asking what level spice she likes; and she absolutely loved it. Can be tough to find good places for eating with a vegan and non-vegan and Opals assistance truly made us regulars here. The paneer madras is also amazing, so hats off to the Chefs 🧑‍🍳

Food was fine. Not a touch on curries in Greater London, in my opinion. Got my order slightly wrong, which mistakes happen but still bugs me though. Could have had better advice on dip sizes, so i overordered unnecessarily

Stopped in Thorbury for the weekend and thought it would be nice to treat the wife to a meal so googled indian restaurants in Thorbury and a few come up all good reviews .Thorbury Tandoori stood out as a cosy looking atmospheric place so booked online .on arrival we were seated the restaurant was full all eating drinking having fun which was a good start. Poppadoms to start with then my wife ordered curried fish with keema and garlic nan I had special balti madras hot special biryani WOW the food was piping hot well presented and tasted amazing the lamb chicken and prawn in the curry and the rice dish were succulent and living near the balti belt in Birmingham there standard's what be hard to follow Thorbury Tandoori certainly matched our expectations thanking you for making our night extra special Food Drink and laughter

Consistently great food and service! Use the Tandoori fairly regularly for quick and convenient takeaway food. Great value and always of a high standard. Also a great place to eat-in, whether in a larger group of friends or popping out for a quick dinner with the kids, always made to feel very welcome, no matter how busy!

Highly recommended for good quality food and very friendly staff nothing is too much trouble for them

I understand Saturday delivery maybe slightly late however after 30 minutes for the food to be delivered it was overdone and cold but it was over cooked before it got delivered. My advise try a different curry house worst curry in thornbury.

7 of us ate here for my sons birthday tonight and I rarely write reviews but I was so impressed with both the service and food,I couldn't not share our experience. The service was impeccable! friendly,polite and patient. Food was prompt but not rushed and every dish was delicious ( even the fussy little ones were happy). At the end when my card wouldn't work, the waiter took the time to help me figure out why and was incredibly patient and kind with me. Over all we had a perfect evening and will definitely be going back.

I was able to travel from Japan. I had the pleasure of visiting you for dinner! The staff member, Mr. Opol, was very kind! thank you very much! As for the food, it's sweeter than the curry you eat in Japan, and has a strong coconut flavor. For reference, I think "HOT" on the menu is just right for Japanese people!

Phoned to ask for help as I am celiac disease and can't have gluten. Guy who spoke to on phone helped tell me what I could have and when husband picked up he had taken time to mark off on menu for future. Food amazing flavours outstanding thank u. 😊

Absolutely outstanding. We are new to the area and wanted to find local restaurants to visit. This was our first visit and we were blown away by the outstanding food and fantastic service. Our waiter was Opal and he was the most friendly and attentive waiter you could wish for. He did not rush us but always ensured our every need was met. We had a fantastic dinner at Thornbury Tandoori last night - it was so good I thought I’d give them a quick review! I checked the ‘Scores on the Doors’ hygiene rating (like I always do) and it had 5* so we decided to give it a go. The food was hot, tasty and decently sized portions. We really enjoyed it and would definitely return if we lived more locally. Thank you!

Outstanding food and service. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and enjoyed the experience. A few months ago the Cobra went up too £6 a pint I am not a big drinker but like a pint with my curry. Why such a increase on drink especially when the Mumtaz sells the same pint for £4.75?

Really nice Indian takeaway food but another price increase makes it a very expensive takeaway compared to others!

It’s like the Tardis from the outside you could almost miss it, inside it not only huge but immaculately clean, has charm and we were not expecting that. Every member of staff was dressed in smart uniforms that would not have looked out of place in a five star Park Lane hotel. The Menu was not typical, lots of dishes I had not seen before so I settled on something different. It was superb. My partner also had something new, again excellent. Cost wise it’s very reasonable for the quality of the food presented. We don’t live locally but we will be back again soon.

We went with high expectations and were certainly not disappointed. Every dish from the starters, Prawn Puri and Chicken Chat (ask for the fried bread to have with chicken) to the mains North Indian chilli Lamb and the Chicken Razala were exceptional. Couldn't fault the meal in anyway and will definitely be going back. Also the service was great ! Very happy customers.

Lovely tasty takeaway. Large order and everything was spot on - no complaints from anyone. Ordered online, ready on-time and piping hot when we dished it up. Will definitely be ordering again and will also visit for a sit down.

We love this place! Every time we go we are never disappointed. We went again for my partners birthday, as is a tradition. The poppadoms are fantastic, as you'd expect. We have butter chicken chilli and the North Indian chilli with lamb. Both were far more spicy than they usually are, but that doesn't deter the flavours - just makes you sweat a bit! We mentioned this to a member of the team and he advised if you want anything hotter or milder - just say! Opal especially is a wonderful addition to the team. We've always been lucky to have him working when we go, and his friendly face and kind heart really makes us love this restaurant. Its a firm favourite. Thank you to the team, amazing as always. We will be back again soon.

Opal strikes again ! 🎳 This really was the curry of our lives (so far). Pints were pre-poured and on the table ready for when we turned up ! Opal then recommended the softer lamb instead of the Tikka. Was it good advice? I’ll let you be the judge of that when you hear there wasn’t any curry left on those plates. Gone ! We ate our food with a smile on our faces (pic attached). Shirts remained on this time - a sign of the growing maturity within the team following our dip. 📈 Shots were kindly offered on our departure but we decided not to kick on this time. Poor from us. We’ll be back again, every day.

I just thought i would add here that the take aways are amazing. Book on line is very easy, usually ready for pick up within 30 minutes. Always hot and excellent quality.

My partner and I have been here twice and can't recommend it enough. Good service and the food is something special. Their lime and aubergine pickle is incredible. Both times we've been I've had the Bengal Fish Bhuna which is delicious. The house red is lovely too.

Excellent service when we went here as a group of 8 on a Sunday evening. Great selection of starters, sides and mains for vegetarians. Ordered way too much. The staff very kindly bought us takeaway dishes to take all our leftovers home.

Eat here on a Saturday evening. Didn't book but was shown to a table straight away. Waited about 45 minutes after we had ordered for our food to arrive. Staff were friendly and jovial. Peshwari nan was probably the best I've ever had. Everything else was good. Don't suppose you should expect much in the way of a coffee in an Indian restaurant, but Nescafe instant from a kettle for £2.50. Think you need to catch up with the coffee needs of your average Joe!!
