El concierto fue brillante. Suena bien. Buena limpieza de loos. Pequeño lugar tan caliente. Nos paramos cerca del frente, así que teníamos una buena vista. El piso era como caminar en / a través de melaza, muy pegajoso. Lástima que todo tuvo que terminar a las 10, ¡Ni siquiera el tiempo para una repetición! !

Fui a ver China Crisis (fabuloso) nunca había estado en Thekla antes, principalmente en el lugar de pie, cerca de 4 mesas arriba que dan al bar, pero no se puede ver a la banda desde allí. Sorprendentemente buen sonido, mejor de lo esperado. Zona de bar muy concurrida con una buena variedad de bebidas aparte del vino, ya que solo hay vino rosado disponible, ¡un poco sorprendido por eso! Limpiar los baños espaciosos también mejor de lo esperado. Lugar útil para conocer.

En más de 20 años. He estado yendo y viniendo desde finales de los 90. El suelo es un poco menos pegajoso, pero eso es todo. Es peculiar porque es un barco viejo. Hacía mucho calor y la vista no es genial para un concierto. Al menos mantiene viva la música de amor.

Was here last night to watch the Style Councillors. This venue is quite unique and quirky but the the sound quality was excellent. We thought the bar prices were a little excessive for a pint and a half but it didn't spoil the occasion. Overall a good experience and would certainly visit again.

We saw the Peatbog Faeries here which was a great evening. The only off putting thing was the stickiness of the floor.

Wow, excellent gig, great atmosphere. Never been here before but will certainly look out for some more bands.

This is a young venue. Don't expect to feel you totally fit-in on a Saturday night if you're over 30. Great that there's an upstair bar with one type of music and downstairs is a much bigger room with bar that opens at about 11pm. Drinks aren't too expensive and it's only a fiver on the door. Great music. Great atmosphere

Yep, this is a good place for city centre night out, I love being on the river, so this boat fits the bill! The famous previous owner? Why, it was that great English eccentric Viv Stanshall of The Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band fame.

What a great venue. Perfect for the intimate gig experience. The staff in there are really friendly, the amenities are well looked after, and it's all on a boat! There's a smoking deck that has great views, and it also has a banksy pic on the side of the boat. The carpark is right next to it, and there is a pub and two resturants within arms length. Everything you need if you want to make a whole night of it without having to trapes anywhere else! I can't wait for the next gig I go to there. Brilliant!

Been a fair few times now, but every time it's been a great experience! Keep up the good work! The people there were so friendly and I always appreciate that. Thanks so much.

Have frequented Thekla many times over the past 3 years with friends for nights out and gigs - great atmosphere and good value for money.

The pop confession night out we had in Saturday must have been one of the best night out we had this year!! It was simply brilliant in every way. It's of easy access through taxis. The drinks are good priced (don't get VKs tho, it gets expensive quickly) and the MUSIC! The music was EPIC!! We stayed until 4 in the morning and it was worth every second. The staff was lovely and very friendly.

What a great venue - nightclub on the docks. Great music and bars everything one needs for a night of dancing! Good choice of drinks too! Even got asked for ID which made me chuckle 😂

I had a great night out here. The drinks offers as as cheap as £1.50. The music is really good and the venue is definitely interesting!

We went on a Friday night for a gig, quirky venue, drinks reasonably priced, friendly bartender. Medium rating as it could be cleaner, the downstairs floor was disgustingly sticky.

Been here on several occasions simply for gigs/concerts. Incredible venue and atmosphere, drinks are average prices. Very welcoming environment however I do sometimes get lost on my way to the toilets.

Thekla is worth it on a Thursday, with their 2-4-1 drinks offer it makes the drinks a normal price, and with their two rooms filled with great vibes, it makes for an enjoyable night out. Long queues though as it's cheap, only £3, but get in before 11 and it's free. Bar staff always friendly, and toilets are really cool - porthole decor, as it's a boat... obviously! Outside deck nice for a breather, but obviously full of smokers, and it can get quite slippery. The boat is small, and although movement is fine in the downstairs bigger room, it can be quite crowded upstairs, in the corridors and outside on deck. Avoid if you are badly claustrophobic or something. Good music. Would recommend if you are a student or young person. I would avoid Thekla on other days/nights, as i'm sure it's lovely, but can be really expensive (and downstairs is a bit smelly after the main club-night of the week!)

Great place for a music venue, lots of space, style, not friendly bouncers at the door though bit offish to go past them, could be cleaner

Lieu très original pour un concert. Mais du coup pas très grand. Difficile de voir la scène si vous êtes au fond et à l'étage, peu de place et grillage sur les côtés qui ne vous laisse donc pas une bonne vue non plus.

several dance floors, nice bartenders, alternative music choice. not the highest rate because the floors were really sticky.

Had a really nice time with my friends there. We went to a pop party and the songs were good and everything was organized.

I had a night at the Thekla when visiting Bristol last summer. I had a great night and reallyenjoyed the music, definitely my kind of thing.Drinks weren't too expensive and it was a really busy night.I loved the fact it was on a boat, and it's worth the experience if you are in the area.Was quite a young crowd the night we were there (18 -24).

The first problem you encounter is the car park pay and display machine. If you have to read the instructions AND key in your car registration. WHY DON'T THEY PUT A LIGHT ON IT?. We were lucky because we always carry a torch in the car but it was quite annoying having to ait and light up the machine for several people behind us.The next problem is the step down from the car park, not good with a dodgy knee.The venue itself has changed a bit since our last visit and all the downstairs seating has been removed, even finding a handy corner to stand in I found it was so hot I had to sit down. I asked at the bar for a chair and was told NO. I asked at the sound desk and was told there were chairs on the balcony. Having said I can't get to the balcony I was told virtually to get lost. In the end I sat on the stairs at the back of the hall for a while until I had cooled down enough to try standing again. There is no where to go on Thekla, including the toilets without having to go up or down some stairs. I am not officially disabled but at the moment I can't get around very well and I feel a bit of sympathy would be nice from the staff. Lets hope some of them get a bad knee at some point to find out what it is like. Judging by the long queue of mainly drunk people waiting to go in to start their night when we had seen a great band and were finishing our night. I could definitely see why the huge sign "Don't drink and drown" is needed

I have been here so many times as a student and since.Easy walk from the city centre, cheap entry on club nights and good deals on drinks. Great selection of music genres played, as well as a popular venue for gigs.

Went to watch the above band , been going to 'the Thekla ' for years , since it's rebirth it's a better place to go , music sounds great in there , great acoustics mean good bands sound better , good drinks now with some good beers

free before 10:30 pm, retro music upstairs (70's 80's 90's) more up to date tunes downstairs, smoking allowed on the deck, prices reasonable for a club, very casual attire allowed, crowd mainly students or local 18-23

Great venue! So unique, great sound, great space and great location! Great bar and great, friendly staff - can't wait to go to a gig here again soon!

We visited the Thelka after finding out a northern band were playing on the Friday evening. A decent music venue with great sound. Although, directions would be handy, as we got lost a couple of times looking for the toilets and the way out! The drinks are reasonable in price to say it is a club and the staff are friendly.

Check your change, people! Lovely location and awesome music. Sound system a bit tinny but then it is a is on uScruffy and needs a good clean.

Horrible, got there and bouncers were really terrjble. Really mean and unpolite. They treat me like crap. People were going out telling me not to get in. So I don't recomend it at all.

Heard about it and was a good laugh, bit of a novelty. Sound wasn't great but not sure if it was a one off.

This all depends on which band you see, it's very claustrophobic so avoid if you don't like crowded spaces deep inside a boat

It's a boat! The staff seem nice and there's surprisingly a lot of room for gigs which I was surprised about. Service at bar a little slow but was very busy so can't really blame them. Overall a good place

Fuimos a ver una banda tocar en este lugar, que en realidad es un barco bastante grande que funciona como una especi de bar y disco. La experiencia estubo muy muy buena!

We saw Will and The People here and it is a perfect small venue for intimate gigs. The staff were friendly and helpful, the toilets were clean and the drinks weren't over priced.I love this place

Worst bar service ever. I have just waited at the bar for 43:42 minutes... Timed it because last time it must have been over half an hour... It is unbelievable, they serve the people in front of the till, otherwise expect a half an hour wait. Just bad. I didn't even realise it could get that bad.

The Thekla is a Bristol institution. Very much rough around the edges but full of character and in a great location.

Great music on different levels inside the boat. I danced all night and absolutely loved it! Would recommend!

I have been here 6 times over the years, the first time being in 2009 when I was 17. This venue is nice and intimate with no barrier, having a capacity of about 500 people all close together singing and dancing along. The idea of a gig on a boat works really well, the sound was perfect and Orla sang happy birthday to me. Best birthday ever! :)

This was one of the best gigs I have been to. The unusual setting and surroundings really did at to the band I was there to see. No the sound quality wasn't perfect but that didn't matter. Would love to see another band here at some point.

On my first (and last) visit to Thekla one of my friends was assaulted by several bouncers in the club. This website seems to be based on its food which I couldn't comment on as I went in the evening for a night out. The bouncers assaulted my friend and myself for no real reason and continued to do so whilst we were outside. I then complained the next day especially as my friend had lost his phone whilst being assaulted and I could see it was on the premisis though the find my iPhone app but they refused me entry and told me it wasn't there. I would never visit here again and I would suggest you do the same and don't risk your health in visiting this horrible venue.

This was my first experience of the Thekla, and I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend loves hard rock, and we saw the Black Spiders, who were absolutely brilliant and put on a fantastic show, with a great supporting act Turbogeist. The tickets were not very expensive, it is easy to park nearby, with lots of places to eat. Will definitely go again.

Took my daughter and her friend to watch a band at/on the Thekla.Bar staff/doormen were friendly. Felt safe enough to leave my daughter for the last half an hour of the gig, (she's just fifteen).What can I say, Great place to watch new bands.Nice little venue.

When I was queueing for entry to the Pressure night I was pulled aside and then promptly removed from the line. I request you ask the bouncer (the white middle aged looking guy with the scraggly beard) to be less obtuse and power trippy when determining entry. When I was cryptically asked "do you want to be searched" and responded with something along the lines of "ideally not, but if you have to then go for it" I was kicked out of the line and not allowed back in. Apparently not wanting to be searched if it can be avoided, which both you and I know is a pain, constitutes being far too unruly to be allowed in. This seems ridiculous when I specifically said that I'd be ok with being searched but it's not the ideal situation. Of course when I tried to explain this I was ignored by the bouncers, as this guy patently didn't wan't to actually listen to what I had to say. What has made me even more annoyed is that I was completely sober when this occurred, and have been to Thekla a few times without incident. Your (Theklas) choice of bouncer has ruined my night, which was my only chance to say goodbye to some uni friends who are leaving Bristol soon. As stated above please inform your bouncers to use less ambiguously cryptic questions when trying to vet people for entry with random searches.

Great place for a breaking band, hot & sweaty, I saw We are Augustines her, easy parking close to the boat(Thekla)

It's a club, on a boat. You can lounge on the decks and party underneath. Careful with your belongings though. My friend dropped my bag off the boat and it fell into the sea, never to be found again.

By far the best gig I've ever been to. I watched Twenty One Pilots there, the crowd is very intimate which is amazing. Staff were all really nice, loads of drinks on offer and toilets were clean.

In the bar and pub filled part of Bristol you'll find this boat that is actually half pub half concert room. Excellent place, enjoy a concert, go to the deck for some fresh air, then back in for a second dose

cliche but amazingly fun night if you don't take yourself too seriously. large number of under age kids though - might not impress those over 30.

I'm not able to comment on the food...and the drink was pretty average, but I think this is one of the the best and unique venues to see a band/artist. The small size and being crammed into the hull of the boat just adds to the atmosphere, and the acoustics are surprisingly good too.

Just saw The Phoenix Foundation there. Great little venue, good views, great location and a good range of beers. Slight problem with 'sticky floor' syndrome on the balcony but otherwise great. Staff and locals friendly. Why oh why does Birmingham not have its own ocean going boat venue like this!

Came here more in the couple of years post graduating from Uni and it was a good night out back then with good music and atmosphere. Came here for gigs and normal nights out and it's good fun.

Saw Gabrielle Aplin here - my first visit. Intimate venue, good atmosphere and drinks reasonably priced.

One of the best gigs I have been to....love intimate venues...and this is wicked little boat.....excellent view and all in all top gig.

My first visit to the Thekla, watching a punk rock band I can't think of a better place, safe yet the ability to party..Controlled without being over bearing - O2 arenas should take note..brilliant aptmosphere, good staff, easily one of the best venues I've been to in over 25 years of gigging...Highly recommended, looking forward to the next visit real soon for a more mellow gig.Believe the Hype!!!!

Little bit dirty, but a really great venue and the staff were lovely!

I have been on Thelka many a time, and I am always very pleased to see cutting edge acts performing. If no acts are on, they usually have great DJs there that ensure a good night of dancing. You have to be a little careful when leaving after a heavy night of partying though!
