Went to the gin tasting which was fantastic. Had a really interesting and fun evening with the resident gin witch. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our silly questions. The gin itself was delicious. Would highly recommend the gin tasting experience!

I love this place! I have been here so many times during the almost 9 years I've lived in Bristol. I was so excited to bring my friends from Wales to this place as they all love Rum, however it was the first time the service was sub par. Yes I understand I brought about 11 people into the bar, and I tried to make it efficient for the servers by ordering only 2 drinks. But it felt like the one server was annoyed from the start of me asking about drinks. In all honesty I don't know why there seemed to be a problem and if they had said to us why they seemed annoyed I would have moved us on or corrected our actions. Regardless, I still love this place but won't be back if the same server is in there, and will wait for another server.

Cool cocktails. Lucy was so welcoming and gave incredible service. Cocktails were brilliant and one of the best choices of rum on Bristol. Best place to be this quintero by the fire!

We had a great evening with Kevay and got an exclusive insight into the gin distillery. Totally entertaining, professional and yet relaxed, we were able to try 6 different gins, each of which had its own flavor and demonstrated the diverse possibilities of “flavored vodka.”

Nice pub, well located. Abysmal service - uninterested staff; manager tapping on his computer at a table while a single barman fiddled with cocktails and other customers waited for drinks. Disappointing.

Wow, what a fantastic place to visit. Delightful venue with great ambience and vibe. Stumbled upon the place and wished we'd found it earlier. The staff were friendly, welcoming and engaging. Olly is a superstar and talked us through the the range of drinks and made some welcome suggestions. Probably stayed longer than we should have, but the drinks were delicious and the real log fire was well tended and the variety of customers given their own special moments was lovely to see. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to my friends and family for future visits. One of my all time favourite places

We had a very warm welcome at the bar and a very warm seat by the large roaring fire. We had drinks here which were inexpensive. We will return when in the area again.

For an establishment that markets itself as a cocktail club, it was disappointing. The neon sign in the window was only half lit up. That should have warned us. The drinks are over priced considering the shabby state of the interior. We kept our coats on because it was so cold. Needs to be run by somebody who knows what their doing. Won't be returning.

Booked table by the fireplace by the email and even though the place was closed at the time when I was making a reservation I have received a reply instantly. The place is full of character with nice decor and absolutely amazing fireplace and beautiful sofas. Service 10/10 and very polite and welcoming. Highly recommend and I am sure I’ll be coming back there.

We had a disastrous evening yesterday At The Rummer Bristol with family and friends. Just because we ask for some(1-2) more pieces of log for the fireplace. !rude and out of manners young man shouted at us saying he is the Owner of the bar🤪🤪🤪🤪and tried to kick us out of the bar while we were having our drinks which we payed for already. Remember these kind of commercial places has to obey service rules and should be VERY Careful about politeness and not to cause stressful moments for their customers according to the consumer protection law. NOT recommend this for locals and tourists at all.

The owner is extremely rude and don’t know how to talk to customers. I used to like this place. Will not be going back again.

We went for a gin tasting session. It was a very good entertaining 2 hours in nice surrounding, very informative and great laughs. The gins are of excellent quality with some superb flavours. Really enjoyed it.

I adore this place. A secret hidden gem, tucked in the St Nicholas Market alleyways. Wonderful cocktails in a super relaxed atmosphere lounging on sofas in front of the most incredible fireplace.

It was a busy Friday night at the St Nick's Night Market, but me and my friend wanted a quieter catch up. The Rummer was perfect. Delicious cocktails, comfy couch, an open fire and although we were the last ones in there - we weren't hurried at all. Excellent customer service.

Forgot our booking and really rude staff

We went for a gin tasting session - firstly they forgot about us so we were a little late going to the room. The young man running the session seemed to be trying to show how he knew a few swear words and came across as vulgar and immature. He didn’t seem to have that much knowledge about the product. Ok if you are a teenager but not really for adults. Would not recommend.

What a pleasant little establishment with friendly staff, tasty cocktails and atmosphere. As a lone stranger to the land, I found myself walking the streets in search of a bar that looked friendly and atmospheric. On a Friday night, that is a near impossible task, but as luck would have it I was drawn to a cosy bar with a roaring fire - The Rummer. I escaped the rain and sampled a cider brewed in house, which was pleasant. Afterwards, I decided to take a shot at a cocktail and went for a Hot Buttered Rum. What a treat. Served warm, spiced with cinnamon and garnished with grated nutmeg. A hug in a (glass) mug. If it’s a rainy day and you’re looking for something to warm you up and give you a buzz, I can recommend no better. After a while I was invited to chat with the bar staff, who were friendly, helpful and made me feel right at home. Big shout out to Chris and Ben. If you’re looking for a calm drink in a friendly spot, swing on by. I know I will next time I’m in Bristol.

Finally tried this bar after hearing good things for a while. Great friday night atmosphere if you want something a little more relaxed. Found a comfy sofa next to the fire to drink a delicious gin fizz. Buzzing without being overpowering and we could actually hear each other. Always a bonus! Would definitely go back. Staff were relaxed, appropratly attentive and fun! My drink choice was a recommendation and they absolutely nailed it. I wondered what they'll recommend next time..?

Our group gin tasting session at The Rummer wss such fun! The distiller was very knowledgable, really enthusiastic and accommodating. We tasted 6 fabulous gins had a brilliant evenong.

Lovely Bristol bar with great service. We went there for a little Christmas gathering and we got to sit next to the magnificent fireplace, which was lovely. The service was great, the bar tenders are really lovely and the drinks were nice as well. Definitely recommend for a great Christmas outing.

Did the gin tasting. It was amazing! Staff know there stuff and there's is a nice selection of gins. Once you are back down in the bar area, sitting by the open fire is a must. Amazing atmosphere, will definitely be back again.

Such a shame this place has potential as located in a gorgeous market in a cute area of Bristol. That is where the positives of this place stop. We were served drinks in dirty glasses, the place has a layer of grime all over it. The menus are old and sticky which is so off putting. The food menu is extremely uninspiring and everything is fried to an inch of its life in old oil. The staff are rude and pretentious for working in such an unkept establishment makes no sense. With all the competition in Bristol im surprised its still open, and I would say its only because of being placed in the beautiful market that it exists so, as in id be very surprised they had any repeat customers. I wouldn’t recommend anyone drink or eat here.

Visited the Rummer Hotel pub while passing through the St. Nicholas Market late in the afternoon. Found a great green Chesterfield armchair near the giant fireplace & enjoyed a double house white rum and coke, very smooth indeed, cant remember where it was from. Really huge fireplace. The ambience was absolutely fantastic. So much Rum!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and a great little selection of mocktails and non-alcoholic beer, which the nice gentleman at the bar was very knowledgable about (the Powderkeg beer is absolutely lovely!) The glasses were chilled so that they appeared completely opaque until they had warmed a little, which was a nice touch. I look forward to going back when I next visit Bristol.

For a place called The Rummer, I think I counted only two rum cocktails! However the one I had (Port of Bristol) was great and their selection of rum for either a cuba libre or shorts was really good. Probably more notable as a gin place

I was treated to a gin tasting experience with my cousin and it was so much fun. Henry was a great host and talked very informative about Bristol Dry Gins and the history of the classic spirit. The welcome Bristol Dry Gin and tonic was delightful, the best gin and tonic I've had. It was a lovely way to try a variety of gins that I wouldn't normally have tried. They were all great. Many thanks for the experience and I look forward to buying in Corks of North Street!

Lovely building, full of history, well made drinks and friendly staff. Was shocked to find a baby on the table next to us at 9:30pm on a Saturday night though. Many pubs are family friendly (which I have thoughts on) but I don't think it's too much to expect a venue to be child free by 9:30pm on a Saturday night.

Great evening after booking the gin tasting session at The Rummer. Some great gins to sample which kept flowing. They are very enthusiastic about their gin's which is great to see and very knowlegeable. Some very interesting combinations which kept on flowing. They also provide non alcoholic gins (not own brand) for the non drinkers. A great evening.

Drinks were expensive but very nice, definitely would go again but maybe before going somewhere cheaper

What happened to this place. It use to have a touch of class. The music playing these days is garage rock. The people behind the bar are wearing shorts. There is a constant beep from an alarm by the door. The last time I was here there was a touch of class. Clearly there target audience has changed. Nothing classy left at all. After previous visits this one left me very disappointed 😞

If you visit Bristol, you HAVE to visit the Rummer bar!!! The birthplace of Bristol Gin!! The gin was exceptional and the bar, tremendous!!! The atmosphere is so relaxed and David makes you feel like family!!! Everything was exceptional, do not miss this friendly place!!!!

An afternoon tasting session, talking through the making of Bristol Gin flavours etc. Henry our host was entertaining and knowledgeable about the history of Gin. A gin and tonic is given at the start of the tour, and then tasting of 5 other gins was given We returned later in the evening to enjoy a nightcap.

Some of the worst staff I have ever interacted with in a bar/restaurant and the offerings were overpriced and average. There are much better options in Bristol. Edit: As everyone can see from the responses by the owner, these aren't the kind of people you want to give your money to. Owner - Maybe there's some professional help out there for you?

Really attentive staff. Warm and welcoming place to get pis*ed. Love the cocktails section that are made by the staff, definitely a huge selling point. Would come here again 100%! Being away from the high street and in an arcade makes it feel a lot more exclusive and warm. Recommend cocktails by Martin and Immi. Pis*head connoisseurs! ❤️

Le compré a mi madre una degustación de ginebra para dos en febrero y finalmente pudimos venir y usarla después del cierre y ¡no podría haber pedido que fuera mejor! ! ! Probamos de 6 a 7 buenas medidas de ginebra (valor increíble) mientras aprendíamos todo sobre cómo se hacía y algo de historia de la ginebra de nuestro fabuloso anfitrión, que era un tipo encantador e hizo la noche. Una gran educación y una noche relajada y llena de diversión con algunas otras fiestas. También era muy seguro para Covid: ¡mesas bien espaciadas y su desinfectante casero en cada mesa! ! !

Lovely fire but otherwise terrible ambience... sort out the harsh lighting, smell and really rude bar staff. This place was great a few years ago for Sunday Roast now run by clueless people who should listen to honest feedback to improve their business, especially when there are so many good bars nearby.

Had a wonderful chilled out night at The Rummer. The bar staff were friendly and chatty and had a great knowledge of the spirits they had on sale. The Selection of Gin and Rum was fantastic and were always served with the perfect accompaniment.

The Rummer is one of the best bars in Bristol, hands down. The spirit selection is fantastic, along with the creativity of some of their cocktails making this one of my favourite places to get wavey. Particular mention goes to the smokey Old Fashioned, Negroni, Nitro Zombie and Rum Hot Teddy. What especially gives the Rummer the edge over other bars in the area is the staff and how accommodating they are to your specific tastes, shout out to Martin! With all these tasty drinks, on some weeks my visiting frequency makes me feel as though I am becoming part of the furniture (with an empty wallet), but the prices are in line with other cocktail bars in the area so no complaints. My only gripe is they don't do food anymore, which also used to be some of the best in Bristol. Hopefully they can hire a Chef and start doing Sunday roasts again soon which will mean I may as well move in.

Algunos detalles agradables como ‘cargadores de teléfonos disponibles para prestatarios, un mural peculiar y un fuego de leña. Aparentemente hacen degustaciones de ginebra, reservadas a través del sitio web. Tenía una sidra que no había probado antes, lo cual es raro.Simplemente un agradable bar relajado que no es una cadena y se está esforzando un poco más que muchos, pero no demasiado.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff and best cocktail ever - Nitro Zombie.Only reason you didn't get a 5 rating is because of the ladies loos. Whilst they were very clean who on earth thought it was ok to have basically glass boxes for toilet cubicles? Ok they are frosted but not very...you can see EVERYTHING in the next toilet. No dignity there! Please please can you put some opaque stickers on the doors to save us some very potentially embarrassing moments?

We happened on this bar after a gig in town and I’m so glad we did We had some fabulous cocktails from a smokey old fashioned to a refreshing pink hedgehog. A good, fun place - could have done without those toilets though 😂

If you like different gins, rums and cocktails, this is the place to go.They have a distillery downstairs and I would recommend trying the Docker's and the Turbo Island - very strong but you don't have to have doubles!!Even better when they have the fire going in winter!

Well what can I say, Marty may be one of the best bar tenders I've ever seen. I've sampled cocktails at bars all across the land and never expected such a long haired, bearded middle aged man with such an interesting watch to best the rest! I came for the party but I certainly stayed for the Marty!
