Lovely staff, myself and colleague were greeted by Paris and Adam who were most accommodating and looked after us tremendously. Food great and atmosphere too. T

The service here is very good but the food was disappointing, the chicken wings were very fatty and mushy and the burger my partner ordered tasted like raw mince and was very pink in the middle however the halloumi was very nice and would recommend.

Amazing, we went in 15 minutes before close and Gina still managed to accommodate us all! Adam was super friendly and quick with the food and then clearing the table. Really made our son’s 19th birthday great! Would recommend and will definitely come back!

Went out for a meal here and been here a few times before. They do a pub classics menu where you get 2 meals for £11.99 Monday to Friday. Where can you get 2 meals for less than £12.00 in 2025???? We went for Mushroom and ale pie with chips and gravy. The portion size was plentiful and the quality was good. With plates cleared and full tummies we left feeling happy.. The customer service here is very good and there is always a welcoming feeling to the place. I look forward to returning soon

Great daily deals on food. Lots of space, tvs and a good pool table. Staff have been friendly. Not a fan of chain pubs but the a Hungry Horse are usually decent these days in my experience.

Food was OK. However, we had to wait 40 mins for it to arrive despite it not being busy. While waiting a staff member walks past undoing belt before going to the toilet. I then go up to get a drink to find a hair in it as soon as it was passed to me.

Monday night, initially food came out pretty quick, was served by a lovely blonde haired woman who was really sweet. However the barman seemed like he had been drinking and have no sense of urgency at all. Our desserts took 30 mins to get to us after having to ask 3 times and explaining three times what we needed and ordered because the food to be taken away because it was taking so long and we had somewhere to be. Understandable if the food is hot but we had a mini brownie and a scoop of ice cream! After the the third time asking the barman finally brought out two boxes and the other two desserts we ordered. On the way to our table he walked back to the bar to shout (I assume it was a friend) at someone laughing and joking. Walked AWAY from our table after we had to remind him THREE times that we were in a rush. Multiple tables stacked with plates, nothing cleared at all - our table wasn’t even cleared of dinner plates when the dessert plates finally came almost 40 minutes later. Absolutely disgraceful, could understand if it was busy but there were three tables eating at the same time as us! Two tables of 2, never been more frustrated and irritated in a pub in all my life. And I’ve never felt so irritated by a server! And I worked in pubs and restaurants for over 10 years!

The Brunel has a huge car park and never struggle for space, friendly staff willing to help, the jack sauce is the best!! A team and menu to help cater to everything you could want.

Great place, food is very nice for the price as well as the drinks. I definitely recommend the Brunel for family, friends and children to visit.

Was a lovely wee pub we didn't expect to come across visiting family. A nice wee cosy pub and plenty of parking

Table was sticky as well as menu which was also dirty. Food was tasteless and even texture was not right, for example chicken stripes had just a thin layer of crispy skin and pudding like texture underneath, not firm and crispy but mushy inside. Chicken new yorker was missing crispy skin and beckon. On top of this the worse coleslaw I ever ate - cabbage (big chunks) and poor quality mayo, which tasted like water mixed with raw flour. I'm very disappointed, because back in time I could eat there a really tasty food, so I guess they changed the cook or (most likely) entire staff including management.

When you know what you should expect from a Hungry Horse outlet, and get it, it's most pleasing! Food was exactly as ordered, service was friendly but not overbearing and the Brunel seemed to be a friendly welcoming venue. If I'm in the area again, will make another visit

Attention to families and parents. Went to have a lunch all 3 of us and as for kids food they were out of stock of almost everything. If you are not fully stocked for a Sunday then you are doing really wrongly something. Luckily we like in Bristol and the food choices are in abundance.

We were eating for a birthday. We ordered some plates to share, in a moment the waiter decided to collect everything (plates were full because we ordered many times) I asked him please leave everything in his place and when people left for little time the table (to smoke) him collected everything and when people back they didn't have any food. We spend a lot money in food and drink and he just took everything. So disgusting.

Absolutely lovely food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. We ordered through the greene king app and it made the process simple, quick and easy. Ignore the negative reviews and give this place a go. Highly recommend the chicken New Yorker and Korean bbq burger

I love this pub. The staff are so nice and great with my kids. The meal deals they do during school holidays are a bargain. And fizzy Fridays and Kareoke for outings with the neighbours!

Came here with a large group of kids and adults for dinner. Food was lovely! Really impressed since they changed the menu. We had the steaks and salmon on the sizzler - cooked perfectly. Staff was lovely and more than accommodating considering we had kids running wild - and increasingly noisy. They kept clearing our table and were lovely. Definitely recommend for kids - as lots of options and different menus.

22nd Oct we had a birthday dinner sitting for 17people ...we pre ordered a week before to get a email on the 22nd on the day of meal saying the pre order didn't go through..me and my sister went to the brunel hungry horse to sort orders out around 4:30pm as our booking time wasn't till 5:30..spoke to a lovely blond lady that helped us...everything was set...we come back at 5:30 waiting for half an hour to get told at the bar we had to re order at the bar. Yet we pre ordered!! Anyway the lady sorted it for us as she took photos of order then wrote them up...well what a complete joke on the food...my mum had scampi chips and mushy peas.. there was like 6mushy peas I complained to get told that's a normal portion..what a flipping joke..my neices food (she's pregnant) she had burger n chips n 2 onion rings hardly no chips and they was cold ..what a joke.. the desserts we pre ordered there was none of the ones we asked for my sisters mother in law starters mushroom on toast ...burnt mushrooms I've never seen mushrooms so black and oily..it was vile ..my other sister ordered salt n pepper chicken to get told there was no salt n pepper for the chicken what!!..literally the worst meal ever...and DONT let your kids use the toy machine with your card as its £2.99 for basically a dogs toy...I was fuming not gonna lie the whole experience was horrible, table service the guy with long ish hair his attitude stank...0 stars from me I'd never eat at this place again.. plus tables and chairs were broken ..arm bits hanging off tables about ti fall apart

We visited the Brunel with a party of 17 to celebrate my twin grandsons birthdays As we arrived first, was greeted at the bar by a lovely young lady who then assisted with our orders...this young lady was cheerful pleasant and dealt with us very professional I rate her 100% From there things went downhill rapidly. Our order were coming out wrong, items missing, portion sizes were a bit of a joke and when this was brought to the attention of our server all we got was attitude....I understand it was busy, but still there's no excuse for that...we left there with no good impression it was very disappointing and sorry to say we wont be visiting the Brunel again for food As you can see on two adult plates not impressive ...(5 mushy peas) would have filled a teaspoon, I was told that is the portion size...my granddaughters food looked deflated

Me and my family came for dinner to celebrate my sisters birthday and it was a fantastic experience, great food and service from the staff ! Was a genuinely good atmosphere all round and would thoroughly recommend this place. The landlady has definitely upped the bar with this place.

Went into pub Wednesday afternoon with two disabled mates two of us with walking sticks and went to main bar. Barmaid talking with customer at side bar and continued talking after several minutes she said you need to come to this bar as tills not working in main bar. We said why don't you come to us as we are disabled she refused and carried on talking with male at side bar. We all left without service and went to another pub who served us bringing our drinks to out table Think some training in customer service is required.

Gina and team, (Ethan, Jess and Bryn) are amazing at their jobs. Super professional and really helpful if you want to be difficult and make loads of changes with the food menu! Absolute 5 * service. Love this pub.

I come here every day to use the fruit machines! Best machines around ! Always sparkly and clean with flashing lights as someone on the spectrum it keeps me very entertained! Even when I lose all my money I always leave with a smile on mu face .. due to the top tier service of all the team!

Good food rapid service but the best bit was the staff the barman was excellent with a quick wit and good banter.

Been here quite often but this time food was not good at all. Not sure if a different chief. I had scampi because young bar tender was not sure of the type of fish. I said is it Cod he said its fish 🤦‍♀️🤣. I gave up and decided scampi. The last few times have been nice but this time the scampi looked awful but tasted better than it looked but still not good. Chips were like they were warned up and dry from the day before. Won't be going there for food for a very long time. The owner replied with a comment, just saying..... we are disappointed with the negative review, what a joke. They never apologise or do something about it.

Shocking service, told one hour wait for food, it was nearer 2 hours. No apology from staff. Asked bar staff for a complementary soft drink for the long wait and got shoot down straight away. When the food did eventually arrive it was very sub standard and not worth the wait or the price. We will definitely not be returning and I advise the management of this establishment to pull there thumb out there backsides and start addressing the issues that they have..

Lovely place for a quick bite to eat with the children. Very friendly staff (especially Jess) food was hot and on time. Pub clean and the garden is a little sun trap. Would recommend for relaxed stop.

Came in for some lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the daily deals! Staff were warm, friendly and attentive :) Food is what you expect, cheap and cheerful type :) Will be coming back again (also Carlsberg for 3.39 ain't bad nowadays)

Me and my partner came in here today from a long walk in the 29 degrees weather unfortunately my partner passed out due to exhaustion, The waiters and manager came and assisted instantly and were very comforting and very reassuring they brought my partner a glass of water with ice in and made sure she was okay. After that happened we ordered our drinks and food which came within 15 minutes of ordering and was amazing. Thank you on behalf of me and my partner for your caring hospitality. Scott & Kasey

(Sizzling plates) Unfortunately as my partner was finishing he noticed a lot of black underneath his food we were told it was carbon but does looks like a lot of burnt food has been on it. This must be normal for them as they didn’t seem bothered at all. You can use two methods to clean cast iron a good scrub: salt or a stiff brush.

Had a great day on Sunday for Father's Day and Football! Service was amazing, and the staff were super friendly! The food came out quickly and was yummy. Dad even got a free pint for father's day. Great pub. Thank you for a great evening.

Staff are nice, fairly priced but sadly this place has no idea how to run a kitchen, very very slow to bring food to you, expect to wait for an hour plus, in fairness the staff do try and it's a good place for a drink, but you are better off going anywhere else for food. We have been coming here for years and are used to very slow service but ninety minutes of waiting this time is the final nail in the coffin and we will never return.

We visited for lunch on the 6th June. When ordering with bar man we asked if we could change a couple of items on our meals and pay the upgrade, we both had the crispy chicken sandwich and I wanted to upgrade my fries to salt and pepper ones and my friend wanted to change the nacho cheese sauce to normal slices unfortunately the bar man said no and gave no reason for this either, even when we said we would pay the extra for this. We were then informed that they had no onions rings so we would get extra chips which we did not, and the man in front of us was informed that there was also no sausages, he asked for bacon instead but was told very rudely he would get extra chips instead. Once the food arrived the sandwich was very plain and also had no red onion in as described in the menu. As a hospitality worker I am aware of the changes and substitutes you can make to meals and that the staff could at least give us a reason rather than being rude. I will not be returning due to this, which is a shame as I have been coming here for years.

Poor customer service, I been there few times specially Sunday mornings, The staff at the till Tom, he says he is the duty manger. doesn’t want the customers there? specially he doesn’t want the customers if you are not English? Very rude, no smile, shocking to see duty manager behalf like this.

We used to eat quite regularly at the Brunel as it’s our local pub/restaurant but recently the food quality has massively gone downhill. We ate at the Hungry horse in Brislington last week and the food was amazing! The quality, the quantity and it was well presented. Ordered food from the Brunel, waited over 45 minutes for our food to come out in poor condition. We asked for a medium rare steak, it came out well done and had grease or burnt fat all over it. We could scrape it off with a knife. No gravy with the Yorkshire pudding wrap. The mushrooms were burnt and the plate contained no garlic butter drizzle. We enquired about our food, and the woman serving seemed as though she could not care and when we asked to speak to the manager claimed she was the manager. She then offered a refund to us. We explained that we used to eat here all the time, but recently we have had : uncooked (pink) chicken, egg shell, and a fly in our food. Very disappointing, I’m not sure if there was a change in chef but something has changed. We now go to the hungry horse in Brislington instead. I have also attached a photo of their version of the garlic bread and mushroom starter.

Rather grubby pub. The main positive are the TV screens with sport. The range of beers isn't great. Service was friendly, but slow. Could be so much better!

The food is typical of hungry horse, cheap and cheerful, don’t expect anything too special! The main restaurant area looks reasonably nice, but unfortunately we were put on the only table free, which was near the bar, it was a bit hard having two lots of music to listen to at the same time! The service was good and the girl who served us was very polite and helpful. If I were to go again, I would make sure I was seated away from the bar, but that’s just a personal preference.
