Bought this voucher via Groupon last week and booked for today (27/01/22) only to find this has been closed since Xmas. Spoke to the nearby cafe who said the owners did a runner and people keep coming with Groupon vouchers. I have sent an official complaint to Groupon who said they are dealing with this. Please save your money as Groupon are still selling the Vouchers. I am trying to get them to take it down, but in the meantime, do NOT book.

6 of us arrived around 5pm for some drinks after the Christmas market. I had family visiting Nottingham and specifically chose a local business to support. We were shown to a table near the back. The cafe had around 4 other tables of guests. It was a while before the waiter appeared. After looking at the menu I asked for a mulled wine, to be told we don’t do that. I pointed out that it was on the menu so he said he’d check. He came back and confirmed they did. Others in our party ordered the WHITE hot chocolate and an Aperol Spritz. Someone debated an Espresso Martini, the waiter said cocktails were 2 4 1 so they ordered the martini. We waited for some time for drinks to arrive. The crashes we heard COULD have been our drinks tray? As the waiter arrived we saw he had 2 Martinis and 2 Aperol Spritz. We pointed out we didn’t order them and he said 2 4 1 for the SAME cocktail. We decided someone would drink them so didn’t make a fuss. The mulled wine was good, but the hot chocolate was a DARK one. However the Aperol Spritz tasted like syrup. When the waiter came back with the rest of the drinks, (including a tea pot of hot water with tea leaves in a dish and no milk) we told him the Aperol Spritz didn’t taste right. He asked if we’d ever had it before!!! It’s actually one of our favourites after a holiday in northern Italy. What happened to the customer’s always right? I asked if it was real Aperol so he came back with the bottle. At this point we decided that we didn’t want the Aperol Spritz. The waiter then took them back and the barman came marching over aggressively. He also asked if we knew how they tasted, said he must have made 30 over the weekend and had been making them for 20 years. We said, well they didn’t taste good. He said he couldn’t help it if we didn’t like them and WE COULD LEAVE IF WE WANTED!! By this time we had almost drunk the mulled wines and the coffee and beers we ordered. What a ridiculous over-reaction. We totally expected to pay the bill for all the drinks except the Aperols, including the wrong hot chocolate and extra Martini. However he was so rude and aggressive that we took him at his word and walked out. This place was an amazing cafe before the new owners. I’m embarrassed that I recommended we go there. It’s neither a good cafe or a good bar. Don’t go!

Having been a regular to the previous Thea Tearoom perhaps I shouldn't compare to the new Thea Caffea, there is a gulf between the two, The current decor is up to date but has no atmosphere. The owners have tried to retain some of the old features such as pretty tea service crockery. However having a mismatch cup an saucer was a loss of the attention to detail. The menu was similar to the old Thea with a couple off added features to make their own mark. The staff were friendly, particularly the waiter. However one fella, I think one of the owners eventually brought our hot drinks to us, he looked like he had just got out of bed, He was wearing dirty jeans and a crumpled shirt. Not that this is a major problem but it didn't reflect the smartness of the establishment. I have been a couple of times since the reopening but yesterday's will be my last visit because it is not particularly unique anymore. Room for improvement, speed up the service of drinks, I had food served before the drinks despite the low numbers at lunchtime. Ditch small butter pats for a pot of butter. All staff should be cleanly dressed. Find a way to add atmosphere. Serve fresh tea leaves, my tea leaves were either stale or I was served the wrong selection.

Didn’t realise it was under new management although we should have done when we went in and there was only one other person in there. Manager very rude to us on entry and then seating us at our table. Decor now looks cheap and tacky. Staff don’t seem to have any idea of customer service and ambience. Such as shame as it is a favourite of mine and several friends. Won’t be back.

Today was my first visit since it reopened. I loved this place but now it is tacky. Cheap decor and a DJ Box that belongs in an 80s disco. At least throw a table cloth over it. One fella maybe the manager looked very shabby. Also too few staff. The staff that were there did not wear masks! Once our lunch arrived no one checked on us or cleared our table. The class and style that made it such a wonderful place has gone. Such a shame.

What has happened to this place? We popped in for a coffee rather than going to one of the chains having been a few times before it shut down. The 'two for one' cocktail signs should have been enough of a warning. Greeted by a young lady with a glare and told us to help ourselves to a table. Gentleman who took our order was friendly and helpful. We also ordered a portion of crumpets and an English muffin. Both shop bought, toasted but cold. Coffee was tiny, tasted fine but there only white sugar or sweetner in packets to choose from. Cost was £15 something. Been done up really cheaply and was pretty dusty/ dirty looking. The cushions at our table had coffee (?) stains and dusty plastic flowers. The cake display cabinet looked a bit sorry with one shrinkwrapped cake and a lot of dust / crumbs on display. Unfortunately i think this has turned into a bar rather than the 'teahouse' cafe it used to be. I am all for independent businesses but we won't be going back unfortunately.

Looks really tacky, used to be decorated tastefully. It's now more of bar, not a cafe. The menu said homemade cake, it's not. I had the chocolate cake and it was dry and disgusting, and certainly not homemade. The Aperol spritz were generous and some of the staff were helpful. some of the staff just ignored customers and some of the customers were drunk and loud, so we moved inside so we could have a conversation. Lots of much better places to eat and drink in Nottingham, don't bother

Visited Thea Caffea as my twin brother Stephen and I were wandering around this part of town and what a great find . A really lovely interior, nice decor and furnishings, a light and airy interior and plenty of seating options spread throughout cafe bar all housed in a fabulous looking building. We were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the staff, we ordered a flat white coffee each, these were served in excellent condition being steaming hot, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular cafe bar. From the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve ,it was just so good being in such a lovely cafe bar enjoying a quality brew. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to Thea Caffea we had a great time. Thea Caffea is easy to locate along Low Pavement. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, Open from 10am. Saturday & Sunday, Open from 9am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
