The Yew Tree in South Ribble

Visited the Yew Tree on a Saturday lunchtime and with the opening time being 12 midday we weren’t going to book as didn’t think it would be busy straight away but so glad we did as there was barely any tables left. We were served by 3 staff during our visit and all were brilliant. Drinks order taken quickly and they arrived promptly with just enough time given to view the food menu and once ordered our meals arrived in a timely fashion. We were so impressed with our main meals we just had to order dessert which again arrived quickly and was super tasty. The pub is one we’ve driven past numerous times but never visited but we will certainly be back. One of the best pub meals we’ve had in a long time.

Another excellent meal at the yew tree great food, excellent service and superb value for money. Highly recommended paying a visit.

Been to The Yew Tree on a couple of occasions over the last couple of weeks, lunch & Dinner always the staff are attentive but not over bareing, the food was delicious, hot and ample portions, very good value for your money..... Next visit I feel will be early new year with my husband

Lovely family friendly local pub. Great food and service

Pre booked a table in advance as I was meeting up with family and elderly relatives. Sat at our table listening to other people grumbling about waiting for drinks so ordered drinks f rom the bar from a not very impressive wine list. Ordered our food from a very friendly waiter but an hour and fifteen minutes later we were still waiting for food and absolutely ravenous. Chased the waiter several times enquiring about the food and he apologised but said that they were unusually busy. Not sure that I accept this after reading other reviews. Food was pretty good but not exceptional. Wouldn’t go again as this is way too long to wait , especially when we had booked in advance.

My wife and I, would like to thank the Yew Tree for a fantastic Christmas day dinner experience. All the food was amazing as was the ambience and every member of staff. Once again a big thank you, to team Yew Tree. 👍👍👍👍

Food top quality service top notch drinks mixed to your choice x seating outside under cover can't praise them enough

It's years since we last visited but thankfully things have improved immensely. While basically a pub serving food as opposed to a restaurant the service was good, staff polite and prices reasonable. The food itself was really tasty and ample without being over facing. It would be nice if access to the disabled ramp didn't necessitate climbing the slope of the carpark. Certainly worth another visit though.

This is a lovely place to have a meal, the staff are helpful and attentive. The food is excellent and there is a good selection to choose from.

Overpriced for the portion sizes. I still trying to find beef in the stake & ale pie. Butterfield chicken too small, baby portion. Service and atmosphere was very good.

Nipped in for lunch from light bite menu. Good selection. I had carbonara linguine partne

Went for Sunday dinner and had the roast lamb. The bar was very busy but we didn’t have to wait long for the food. The lamb was delicious and came with all the trimmings and a decent sized Yorkshire pudding. Great value for money!

Cajun Chicken Burger 🍔 Topped with chillies 🌶️, Jalapeños & cheese. Latte & Pint of Foster

Very busy today when we popped in for lunch. However, they found a free table for us very quickly. Service great with the always pleasant servers and the food is very, very good. Lovely atmosphere and reasonably priced. What's not to like?

Good all round food exceptional

I can not thank The Yew Tree enough for a fabulous evening. All the staff are so accommodating, and service with a smile goes a long way. My visit was a Birthday party for 15 family members, all the meals arrived on time and were all very good quality. The chef needs a good pat on the back for this. Not one person had a complaint. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be a returning customer.

A great spot for a family get together - good value, lots of choice, and the service was excellent, everyone was really friendly and helpful.

Lovely staff, great atmosphere and the food was outstanding

The dry cured gammon was amazing and so were the eggs and chips very freshly cooked and served with great friendliness and charm . I had a wonderful meal and pleasant conversations .

I've been here a few times for a meal and it never disappoints. Lovely staff and lovely food.

Everything about this place is outstanding, if you haven't tried it get yourself down . Just a suggestion don't give cold toffee sauce with sticky toffee pudding

Nice comfy modern estate pub. Very popular restaurant with a pub atmosphere. Food choice and service is very good.

We visited the Yew Tree while visiting family in Preston and I have to say I'm quite impressed. Attentive staff, good food and fair prices. All in all certainly worth another visit.

I recently visited the Yew-Tree Pub with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. Walking in feeling hungry, I was eager to enjoy a hearty meal. However, I walked out feeling quite the opposite—sick. For £13.95, I expected a decent portion and quality, but what I received was far from satisfactory. The plate was overwhelmed with chips, while the main attraction, nine pieces of scampi, was soggy and lacked any flavor. To top it off, the portion of mushy peas was laughably small—perhaps the tiniest serving known to man. The only bright spot of my visit was the polite service, which was appreciated. However, it wasn't enough to redeem the overall experience. I left feeling that I had paid too much for what was essentially microwaved food. I won't be returning anytime soon.

A bit of a gem. Food was great - large portions so be careful. Had excellent service you'd be happy with in a full blown restaurant.

Good pint of Guinness and always served quickly. Food looks good although not tried it yet. Packed on a Sunday though.

Just arrived at 12 and wad met with a nice smile and welcome. Food and service was 1st Class. Defo come back again 10/10

Excellent as Usual Went for lunch today, booked via the website, to ensure we got our favourite table. Our Graddaughter had her usual chicken nuggets, my wife lasagne and I had the cheese, potato and onion pie. I'd been looking forward to my choice for a few days and my expectations were more than met, the pastry was gorgeous! My wife's lasagne was also delicious. Served without the mega drizzle of olive oil you often get on top in other establishments! The chicken nugget meal got a double thumbs up too! As per usual the service was top class, friendly and attentive staff. Even the landlord, Mike,came and accepted my granddaughter's usual hug, before dashing out to attend the Radio Two in The Park event to watch his favourite band.

Spontaneous tea out wiith grandchildren - extensive and reasonably priced delicious food, friendly and relaxed atmosphere and books/games/colouring available for children - try it! 😋

Good portion sizes and they ask if you want half chips half rice with the curries ☺️

Visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, & been back since having not been in a number of years due to poor food, Glad we booked a table it was busy, everything was spot on, the service & food. I had fish & chips, the best I've had in a while, nice crispy batter and beautiful fish.

Would give a zero review if possible table outside as no room inside given our bill before we had even eaten after being told 40 minute wait made to feel like theifs as they said they get runners from people outside REALLY we are a couple over 60 years of age will never return cancelled our food and went elsewhere if this is how they treat people then charge when you order will not recommend and will not be back!!!!

I visited with my son before going to the cinema.We didn’t book as it was a wet Tuesday evening and I didn’t think it would be busy. I was wrong! It was busy but we got a table and everything was brilliant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the carbonara linguine from the light bites menu which was tasty and just the right portion size. My son, who is a chef, had the mixed grill and he really enjoyed it, great quality ingredients, cooked very well. The atmosphere was lovely. Very impressed.

Consistency is key - never fail to provide excellent food - tried most things on the menu and never been disappointed, the staff are equally amazing, even under pressure on a fully booked Sunday they smile and converse ( that doesn’t happen everywhere) and let’s not forget dog friendly with treats readily available - strongly recommend to knot drive by 🤩

Unbelievable, convinced it’s getting better and better, desserts scrumptious and service class, no issues whatsoever very easy and relaxing

Another good place to go eaten there twice now and never disappoints they do light bites for those wanting smaller portions xx

Just had a lovely family meal at the Yew Tree. The food is amazing, we've tried various meals on the menu and they're all excellent. Great service. I can't recommend it enough. Looking forward to our next visit.

Called in on speck last night. We have eaten here several times in the past and have not been disappointed. We noticed the menues had been updated with some interesting choices My salt and pepper chuck chicken was amazing. My wife's nachos would do as a sharing starter My main rump steak was cooked exactly the way I liked it 👌 and my wife said her curry was excellent. with 2 beers and a large wine, the bill came to £65 which was excellant value.

I went here for a family meal during the day. The staff were all lovely and the food was really good. It didn't seem overly expensive. The pub was very clean as well. It was a really good experience. Thank you 🙂

Best pub grub i ve had in ages, we could nt fault anything our meals one gammon the other fish and chips were so tasty... very good menu selection there were a few dishes i could have chosen, prices were reasonable staff friendly and helpful we certainly will be returning.

Visited this pub on the back of the app ‘pub walks’. Lovely pub, close to lots of amenities and a great walk around the river ribble. Neck oil £6.00, good pint, good price.

The restaurant is very clean and tidy, beautiful fish and chips the kids loved it too.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime with 5 of us. Really great and friendly service. Menu has a good selection of food for all types of dietary requirements. It was served promptly and piping hot and it was a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend chilli con carne! Will be returning.

The place is awesome, clean and decorated lovely. Toilets are like in a hotel all tiled and really smart and spotless. The Sunday dinners are amazing. The half chicken is huge, and the lamb was lovely. We even decided on pudding, and they were to die for. And we went late afternoon and the staff were so friendly and helpful a credit to the place. Will definitely be back soon

Called in for dinner on Saturday and hadn't booked. They were busy but fitted us in. Great menu with lots if choice. Prices were fine and they have a smaller meal selection which my wife liked and she raved on the cheese pie.

Not had a bad meal here since the introduction of the new menu. Been eating here twice a week. Also good selection of beers.

Less than 10 minutes after ordering - our food arrived! Very busy yet managed to feed us with oven-hot, tasty meals incredibly fast - highly recommended!

The Yew tree is such a lovely place to eat and drink. It has real friendly feel to it and the food is absolutely amazing. We are always made to feel welcome wether we are dining or drinking. It is a lovely clean well run pub. And the staff are all very attentive. It's extremely busy for food so I'd highly recommend you book. But there are usually one or 2 tables in the bar area you can sit in for a bite to eat. It is also dug friendly which we love.

I have visited the Yew Tree with my wife several times and always have an enjoyable meal. We find the staff friendly and efficient and the food is always good value for money.

We ate here as a family of four, before we watched a film at Vue cinema. Lovely food, reasonably priced and nice environment, all good. Plenty of TV’s to watch football also! 👍

Had a good pint here. TV a bit loud but the footy was on so I guess that was to be expected:)

Saturday 15th June 2024 Today, we went into this green king pub. There was only 1 handpumped ale on today green iPad under a different name. This pub is spacious and a locals pub Good staff on and good background music on. This pub needs to get more hand pumped real ales on urgently

Popped in for a quick late lunch! Place was really busy which was great, as it has been really quiet on previous visits. We managed to squeeze in the main bar area, atmosphere was good the busy restaurant area was contained so it was less noisy where we were. The food was absolutely fab! Not sure when they changed the menu, we've not been for a while. Everything was hot, well presented and delicious! Great price too! We will definitely be back more often.

The food here is good at a decent price, tho the steak was the tiniest over done for my taste it was still decent to eat, with great puddings and a warm friendly atmosphere, Edited this review due to going back and as promised the steak was cooked perfectly, thank you, also the lovely young lady with the light blonde hair and tattoos was amazing, Great staff, will be going back again and again!

The menu is varied with the usual pub style food: burgers, pizza etc, but the main courses had a variety of options not nurmally seen elsewhere. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. The only downside was, as one of us is disabled, in order to get to the restaurant we had to go in via the main door through the public bar which meant a walk up a slope from the car park, as disabled access is not available straight into the restaurant. Well, not that we could see anyway. However, we would definitely go again.

Friendly staff and great food.I had the Seafood Linquine tonight lots of salmon and prawns. Absolutely delicious.

My husband came to the Yew Tree pub in Preston on Sunday, for dinner. Hubby had the traditional roast beef dinner whilst I had the Lamb Mint Henry. The roast dinner was a good portion size with plenty of meat and hubby particularly enjoyed the vegetables which unlike some other nearby establishments were cooked properly rather than pureed. My lamb Henry was cooked to perfection and it was presented off the bone. Again plenty of meat and the flavour was fantastic 👍. Noted that all the restaurant tables were fully booked proving that this pub has definitely got it right. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Won’t be long before we visit again and we like the fact that this is a dog friendly establishment with dogs allowed in the bar area.

My partner and I visited the Yew Tree for lunch as we hadn't been for many years. As soon as we walked into the Yew Tree, we were welcomed and shown to a seat. We were given time to choose drinks and meals. The landlady was very friendly and made us feel so welcome and chatted away to us. The food was excellent, real value for money, and we weren't left waiting for long. The surroundings were lovely, very clean and comfortable and all the staff were friendly. We will certainly be paying the Yew Tree another visit.

First visit to the Yew Tree and it won’t be the last! Food very good, service impeccable and always with a smile! Lovely place, plenty of parking and hot wholesome food! Would definitely recommend.

Car park prety full so we thought it must be good. How wrong we were. Sunday roast. I had beef that was apart from the veg was inedible. I couldn't even cut the beef never mind chew it! The nicest thing was the side order of cauliflower cheese. The other dinner was lamb which was he covered in mint sauce to mask the lack of taste and quality. We would rather pay double with no waste ..... The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We were asked how our meal was and offered replacement meat.... no thanks! Not sure whether or not the food came pre cooked and microwaved but we were left extremely disappointed and surprised how busy it was

My partner ordered a chicken roast dinner, the plate was full with chicken Yorkshire pudding and veg. I had chicken pesto and chorizo linguini,there was plenty of meat with the pasta and tasted lovely

Wasn’t a fan of this big pub on a traffic island down by the Capitol Centre. Visited just after 8 for some food, only to be told no food after 8. 8 is very early to be stopping food. Who eats their dinner that early. Meh 🤔 As such; left hungry and with no idea what the food is like. Had a pint at the bar whilst I was there. After all, why not…. I think it was Amstel. A few spins on the gaming machine. Didn’t win anything. Pub is convenient for the Capitol Centre, which has a Waitrose.

Popped in at tea time on a busy bank holiday Easter Monday without booking. Greeted by very friendly staff, I asked for a table for two which wasn't a problem and we were seated straight away I had the Prawn Saganaki to start and then we both had the Lamb Henry, it was all very tasty and served by very efficient and polite staff. Well done thank you.
