Well, what a find! On the spur of the moment we were invited to meet up here with family and friends, we didn’t book and needed a table for 8 people, one toddler and a dog. The lady at the bar was brilliant! We were soon seated and we ordered from a Sunday menu. 2 people chose burgers, the toddler was catered for with nuggets etc, the rest of us had Sunday roast - and what a Sunday roast, it came out very hot, lots of meat, and lots of everything to be honest! It was so tasty! The lady then brought out dishes of cauliflower cheese and all the sauces any one could want. After lunch we went and sat in the garden, which was lovely with baskets and tubs of flowers, there was lots of places to sit, and a good time was had by all. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes a fabulous lunch and great service in a lovely pub. We will be going back.

Came over this little pub while staying in the town. We came on Monday night just gone. It was a very busy evening. The food was very nice and well presented. There was one lady ‘serving’ she was taking the food out, doing table service and running a very busy bar all by herself and she had everything under absolute control. Even though there was a wait she reassured everyone who was next in line and she would be as quick as she can pouring 2 pints and a time and not a single person at that bar was unhappy. A magician in my eyes. Not a bad word to say about the entire experience. Magical little place to visit. Food top notch service impeccable!

I hired the Cote room for my husbands birthday. The room was perfect for 50 people. Becky and her team let us come in early to decorate and then come back in the morning to remove our belongings, so we didn't have to worry. The staff were so helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help us. Thank you so much. I highly recommend.

Visited the woolpack 4th Feb with my partner for Sunday lunch about 1pm. We both had the carvery, one beef and one pork. There was a plentiful choice of veg and a generous portion of meat which was well cooked. The staff behind the bar were helpful and welcoming. The chef who served us the food was extremely cheerful and pleasant. Nice atmosphere and location by the river. Would happily recommend to visitors to Buckingham.

The Woolpack hosted us for a family meal of 20 today and it was all round super. We had the whole back room to ourselves and they had laid a long table out for us. The roast dinners were excellent and the puddings too. Good portion sizes with lots of meat. Catered for vegetarian and vegan too. Dan and Ollie were very attentive and gave a great service. Thank you, can recommend.

My pal highly recommended the Woolpack - said it was the best roast dinner he’d had in a long time so I was admittedly quite excited about our visit today. On arrival we were shown our table and we sat for a while enjoying a glass of wine. Assuming we would get table service we waited a while - nothing happened so we then found a member of staff who told us to order at the bar. The order went in - sadly there was no vegetarian option so I had to settle for extra veggies-a little unusual I thought but ok. When the food arrived it was immediately apparent that it wasn’t hot and fresh - it was Luke warm - perhaps microwaved. My friend was amazed at how different this meal was to his previous experience. The parsnips and potatoes had no crispiness, the cabbage almost raw. We also had for sauces! Quite simply it was average at best. He did say the roast beef was good. The wine was very nice. We did get a discount after expressing our disappointment but I’d much rather have a great roast dinner!

After finding the 2 village pubs on our list for Monday Lunch do not serve food on Monday Lunchtime, we found this place, Mrs.B checked they were serving food, which they were, so we parked up & went inside, & waited at the bar, & waited, & waited, there were 3 other people waiting by now but still no one serving, so I went & tapped on the kitchen door, to be told she only had 1 set of hands, How Nice & Professional. She eventually came to serve us at the bar. We ordered 3 Soups with Rolls, which were very nice. Decent looking menu, but we won't return as she only has 1 set of hands.

We went there with a group of friends for Disco Bingo which was great fun. Good atmosphere as always. Lovely staff (!!). We had seen several recent adverts on FB about new menu/new chef etc and decided to give it a try having had a past bad experience with the food. Well unfortunately that hasn’t changed one bit and my advice to the landlord is: ‘stick with what you do best by providing a good venue and drinks’ but stay away from offering food. It was awful to say the least! Even the simplest thing from the menu (loaded chips with mushrooms) was bad! I think I saw 6 1/2 mushrooms on there, piled on a little bit of dried up cheese. This is not (!) a difficult dish to master. A friend had Katsu Curry. Didn’t look anything like it. Some dry bread crumped chicken strips, rice and a tiny dollop of whatever gravy/sauce. If one has ever been to Wagamama and this is probably one of their signature dishes would know that this is nothing like it. And that for a whopping price of £14.50. I’d expect to pay this in a top notch pub. I had chosen Gyros which I would usually love. Portion size was big (2 flat breads rolled up), but it stated ‘Tzatziki’ which I literally couldn’t find. There was the tiniest smear of some kind of maybe sour cream but it was only at one end of the bread and hardly noticeable. So the whole thing super dry and not what a Gyros should be like. When we arrived at 6pm…..they had run out of Chicken…..really? There are at least 3 supermarkets in close proximity of the pub? Why could nobody fetch some at that time? We were the last ones to get 1 portion. So all in all awful! Will never eat there again. However will be back for drinks especially in the summer. You can do better than that - surely?

Very disappointed! Would not dine here again.Booked a table for a Saturday night. Was not advised when we arrived that Saturday night was Steak night or given the Steak night menu. Luckily my husband found the menu online and asked about it. Our mains arrived before our starters, had to send these back to the kitchen. Received our starter Camembert sharer with 4 chunks of bread. Normally we find we have more bread than cheese, but with 4 chunks of bread we had Camembert left!Once mains arrived, Steak cooked really well, only thing that saved experience from terrible. The side salad was pointless just a mess of leaves, no dressing nothing else just leaves. We were most disappointed with the end to our night, as we were out as a family. When booking we said one child. And yet at 8.15 tables in the restaurant were being taken by the overflow from the bar and yet we were still eating! We left at 9 which we feel is the water shed and yet we had people swearing on the table right next to us in front of of our 6 year old!Shame as a lovely pub to drink it, but would not dine again.

Was immediately greeted by friendly locals who chatted to my dog and me as soon as I got through the door. Staff very lovely and the lasagne was top notch, with tasty garlic bread and good chips. Dog biscuits and bowls provided which is a real winner for me.

After a lovely afternoon at National Trust Stowe Gardens, we fancied a bite to eat & a swift drink - google gave us The Woolpack as the nearest option so after a quick call to make sure they could accommodate 8 of us, we headed there...The Woolpack is a welcoming place with a warm atmosphere & we were very nicely fed & watered for a reasonable charge with excellent service from Claire. Can deffo recommend.

Three course lunch for £12. The food was good, the staff were friendly and efficient. Log fire burning for when its cold but would be lovely for lunch on a summer day.

Lovely pub on the river. Friendly staff and good ale. The blonde woman who served us was kind and helpful as was the young lad on the bar. An absolute credit.

Very disappointing visit with friends and family. Food pretty awful and service even worse. Felt like the woman who served us was annoyed that we were there!! We are your livelihood, paying your wages!! You'd do well to remember that but you won't be seeing us again any time soon. Great shame. Used to be a lovely pub.

Great pub near the river in Buckingham. A very family friendly atmosphere and their carvery Sunday lunch is very good value for money. Good choice of roast meats and loads of vegetables to choose from. Definitely recommend The Woolpack and will be visiting again soon.

We came to the Woolpack for our family christmas dinner. We were initially concerned by the previous reviews but need not have worried.

First visit. I love pies and had wanted to visit this pub for ages. I would love to have given more stars but was so disappointed that even though it was early evening my choice of pies were out of stock. Only about 6 pies available from a wonderful menu. For starter we had the vegetable soup and prawn cocktail - both very good. My husband had the fillet steak for his main course which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had my fourth pie choice option Chicken and Mushroom Pie. Unfortunately I felt the pie was overbaked as the top pastry was extremely hard and I could not cut through it or eat it. The chicken and sauce was delicious but could not see much evidence of mushroom. The vegetables and chips were cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic. The place itself looked as though it needed updating but definitely had character. The pub car park was a nightmare getting in and out. It did not help that someone had parked in the Exit so we had to leave by the Entrance! Would give it another try in the future.

This time I went to Rumsey's with just my wife although I have been several times with other members of my family since I make a point of going every time we visit my son in Tring because I love the place so much. I haven't tasted such delicious drinking chocolate anywhere. It is always so rich and velvety. I adore the stuff and, I think, could very easily get addicted to it! In addition to the actual drink they give you a very delicious little biscuit to accompany it. Every time we go, we buy some to make up at home and I can tell you it doesn't last for long - well not long enough anyway. The café itself is not very big but there are tables outside if the weather is good. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and they also sell very tempting cakes and chocolates and some savouries. Parking in Wendover is very easy and the town centre is worth a visit in its own right. I urge you to go.

This was an excellent and great value plate of food, which arrived promptly. The components of the cooked breakfast were all of good quality. The bacon included a nice amount of fat, important as fat means flavour and helps to fill us up. The black pudding was great quality with a wonderful depth of flavour. The eggs were very well cooked, having no ‘snottiness’. Our only criticism would be the use of semi-skimmed milk. Whole milk just tastes better and produces a creamier coffee. Less is needed too. Large numbers of people and eateries are switching back to whole milk, as recent studies show full-fat dairy products are protective against obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

I had the lobster and it was lovely. All our meals came in good time and were piping hot. The staff were attentive and friendly. If you need a taxi I recommend Sarah's Taxi's. Excellent rates and service.
