Was good mate yeah, good staff, good bevs and the disco ball topped it all of I can’t lie, disco is a vibe Yano like imagine daft punk playing and ye see a fitty across the smoking area, belter.

Staff were very nice, and a decent pint. They even have a disco ball which was really nice cause I love a good boogie. Would recommend!!!

Ellie & Courtney were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, from the drinks service to the food. Atmosphere was very welcoming

A wonderful experience for our first visit. The pub was full at 6pm - a great testament to its popularity. Our family of 5 was warmly welcomed by Nessa, who could not have been kinder or more helpful. Despite being under massive pressure, she ensured that we were made to feel valued guests throughout the evening. The food was exceptional and amazing value. Thanks to all the chefs for all their hard work. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxing. We could not have had a more rewarding experience. Thank you Nessa for enhancing our enjoyment. Fantastic!

We have been going The Woodies for years and every Christmas for the last 15 Always all tables available until 3pm and then only people eating their lunch there can stay This year only a few tables at the bar as they had set up all the tables for lunch and you couldn’t move for people standing with nowhere to sit Couldn’t work out who the manager was but 1 gentleman and 2 ladies constantly walking round the tables and moving plates around whilst there was only 2 staff on the bar who were run off their feet There were 12 of us and we won’t be going next year and other families we talked to said the same Very disappointing

Great effort by managers and staff over the very busy Xmas eve and xmas day. Had 12 for Xmas dinner and all said the food and service was excellent

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

This place was lovely had two kids under 3 with me and the people were lovely considering my children making a load of noise. Ellie who was amazing was very patient and knew everything about the menu as I am a very picky eater and kept asking questions also danny who I believe is the manager was hands on helping with tables which was nice to see a manager actually helping 10/10 amazing place to go with the family.

After a day at Cheshire oaks and the zoo we were looking forward to some nice food and drink after a long day. We were greeted by Vanessa who looked after us throughout our visit making sure the kids were happy and we were all looked after. The food came out and was amazing just what we wanted. Vanessa was really friendly and made sure we always had our drinks topped up. Will definitely be back keep up the hard work. Special thanks to Vanessa for making our visit a good experience.

Need to get new owners. Ordered Tandoori chicken that comes with rice. They said they got no rice but would charge extra for rice. Then confused we asked for bbq beef ribs only to be talked they had none. Last time ever wasted in this place!

Service was excellent, staff were very attentive and there was no wait. My partner and his brother had steak - the rump was perfect, unfortunately the sirloin was a bit tough and cooked to medium rather than rare which is what we asked for. The serving plates are a little difficult to manage, although they ensured that the food arrived super hot, food kept falling off and there wasn't enough room to cut things up properly. I had the chicken tikka which was very tasty. The free drinks were a very nice accompaniment.

Came to the woddies on busy Friday night. Food was amazing and customer service were brilliant too. Epically when staff were ran off there feet. Will definitely return

Excellent service. Very friendly staff. Best medium rare steak I've had in a long time. Family friendly, very helpful with our crying baby. Manager checked several times that we were happy and to see if we required anything. All in all a very relaxing afternoon out with family.

Popped in for food and a couple drinks on Sunday evening, the pub wasn’t that busy which was lovely for us. Food was lovely, I had the loaded surf and turf which I would highly recommend, props to the chefs on shift that evening. Even though it’s bar service, speedy drinks and happy, friendly service. The lovely tattooed woman who is a new manager is absolutely delightful, very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much for her. Will be back again with friends.

I Come In for a meal with my friends as we usually come to the woodlands and have not been in for a while so we thought we would all meet there, wishing we didn’t now ! What has happened to the woodlands ! The food was fine never had a problem with the food always been amazing, the service was terrible, slow the team looked like they did not want to be there ! Outside full of rubbish and cigarettes ect I could carry on ! As we was leaving, who we thought was the assistant manager was talking very loudly and drunk about how he is holding General manager. Where has the landlord gone with spikey hair ?

Despite being very busy (being 40% off mains night) the food was fabulous! We did have to wait a while but we were warned. Staff are very friendly and always smiling even at their busiest! Came for lunch on Monday 4th, served by Brian on the bar. Cocktails were lovely in the sunshine & the sides we ordered to snack on arrived quickly & were very tasty. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again in the future.

Amazing scran, great atmosphere and interesting characters the woodlands has much too offer and will certainly be coming back with more friends. The staff are super friendly and deserve a pay rise. They were really helpful and made our experience something to remember and that lanky lad is an absolute gem. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Lovely clean pub food was delicious. Overall the visit was great. The staff seam run off their feet seam to be doing a million things at once. Didn’t stop the level of service I do need to put clear . But I wouldn’t like to see how much they have to do at the weekend when it’s more busier. Beautiful meal out with my family, table service was fantastic my app wouldn't work so the two members of staff helped to put the order through for us.We couldn't fault a thing the level of service was second to none even tho the staff levels compared to the the customers in the pub , the staff didn't let this differ their level of service to us. We stayed for a couple of hours table was cleared quickly. we finished off with a fab pudding.

Visited the Woodland with family all covid safe, service was above and beyond from start to finished we were looked after from start to finish. would highly recommend the woodland to friends and family, not been in here for many years but seams its food and service has massively improved.

Visited December with family ,Fantastic food and service all covid measures in place , we visited for breakfast with Santa and the whole experience was brilliant start to finish!Level of service along with Santa and an amazing English breakfast I’m looking forward to next month when they re-open.

Just wanted to thank all the staff at the Woodland for their hard work tonight. I used the 'Order at Table' app it was lovely not having to queue up. Everything was brought in a timely manner, food and drinks were just as ordered and the staff were really friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and it cheered me up no end seeing such a nice team working together. So here's a personal thank you to Mick, Sean, Nathan, Shane, Jessie and Dave.

Booked again because of terrys hospitality and Natalie's warm, professional service even though they seemed short staffed.I watched as they worked the front door booking in parties then behind the bar helping out to ease the queues to serving food. Me and my boyfriend stopped off at your pub today as we’re visiting in a hotel near by and awaiting check in. The service we had was impeccable. A waitress called Jessie was really sweet. She told us about near by attractions and things to do whilst we wait for the hotel to be ready. We couldn’t fault her and she went above and beyond for us.The pub was very clean and lots of measures put in place for Covid. Next time we visit Chester, we’ll definitely visit again.

We visited for food and drinks, expecting a packed pub and having to wait a long time for service. We were pleasantly surprised. We booked online and turned up a little early, we were seated 15 minutes early. Service wasn’t the fastest but was more than fast enough considering that all the COVID measures were being followed fantastically. Terri, our waitress was lovely, happy and friendly. The atmosphere was great and it felt safe. The food was brilliant!

What a tremendous meal we had, thanks to Steve and Noodle in the kitchen, and Teri our hostess. The food was cooked to perfection (mega mixed grill and buttermilk chicken stack) with no wastage and not a single bad mouthful. Service was exceptional, quick and friendly. It was out our first time our family went out in the pub and I have to say the host on the door, Terri was quick to explain how things worked. We were introduced to our server , Reece who took us to our table and made sure our evening was a very pleasant one. He was very helpful, polite and friendly. Popped in post lockdown on a weekday. The lovely host Terry explained the new procedure to ensure our safety during our visit. Clear instructions throughout. I felt safe and the food was prompt and delicious. Very enjoyable.

Nice to see the bar area and the outside tables are now open.my concern is the 2 hr time limit.I understand the dining being 2 hr slots for tables but 2 hrs for drinking? I was asked to leave after my "2 hr slot" yet the pub was almost empty, I pointed this out and and said I would re book another 2 hr slot but was then told I was only allowed 2 hrs for drinking and wouldn't be served??? And must leave. I along with many other "drinkers" feel this is an excessive rule and therefore will not be returning until some semblance of sanity has returned to our local.Went wetherspoons,Jessops then the Gunners, no time limits on drinking and certainly wouldn't refuse service after the 2 hrs when theres plenty of empty tables.
