Nice spot, has darts and TV's for entertainment. Prices were ok. I won the music bingo on Wednesday night, got a free btl prosecco. Quite fun

Nice clean bar. Attentive, friendly and polite staff I'd recommend visiting this place.

It's probably a nice bar, The staff were really nice but the toilets were over flowing. We went in after Midnight so not sure if it had been busy.

It was a good idea, board and darts were not the greatest however had fun with my lad. Need to get the technology better though if it was all for adults as it didn’t register the last dart each time!

Played darts here and it kept getting the winner wrong on leaderboard at end of each game. Was still fun though.

Always lively and loud, lots of people playing darts, good atmosphere.

Great as a pre-drinks place. Food is cheap and darts games are quality. Came as part of a stag. Good atmosphere with screens showing sports. No dancefloor so go elsewhere after, if you want to dance in the night. Would recommend!

The service was quick and was the atmosphere but the food was a real let down. Ordered the 'tandoori kebab' which was the packet of chicken that you get in a supermarket served lukewarm on two bits of paper thin cold bread. The churros however were excellent.

Loads of staff but a bit slow in making cocktails.

Miserable staff,asked for a cocktail that was buy one get one free but only got served one until I said,so he made another one up but it didn’t taste of alcohol at all just like a milkshake,don’t think any was put in.

First time here before seeing a comedian elsewhere, but we loved it. Fab cocktails, live entertainment and good atmosphere. Hoping will be back for a game of darts and some food another time. Highly recommended 👌 👍🏻

We went to watch live football, however they decided rather than have the football commentary it would be better to have some idiot play acoustic guitar really loud the whole way through the football. This killed the atmosphere!! It supposed to be a sports bar, we didn’t go there to listen to some bland muppet sing the same 5 Oasis songs as any one else that plays the guitar. I wouldn’t go back again!! Avoid if you want to watch sports in peace!! Also the Pizza was terrible.

Great cherry cocktail for cocktail week Place was really busy after the match but service was quick. Drink was lovely. Haven't played darts there yet but they do hire out the booths.

The food here is beautifully cooked and very reasonable cost also bar staff are friendly good customer service and the tables regularly cleaned great service and place ...I come here regularly with work or at leisure would highly recommend

Popped in for a drink, served quickly and efficiently! Also managed to catch someone singing and playing piano.

Me gustó bastante la música en vivo, comienza a las 7 pm por lo general.

Staff friendly and courteous. It's accessible which is important. Food is good..it can get a little.louder as the day continues though....

A very decent bar at the Gate. Friendly and helpful staff with good customer service and a decent pint at a reasonable price. The food menu looks very nice. The only drawback is that the bar can get very busy during peak times which can't be helped, however it is a really nice venue and I'll be returning at some point in the future to try out the food.

Popped to Newcastle for my very first time. Here on a work trip and took advantage of Restaurant week deals. £15 for 3 courses and the food was amazing. Highly recomended PS, a girl called Jenny was playing live music which was also amazing, such a strong voice. All the staff were really friendly and helpful.

It's was good but to loud for music can't have a talk.

45 min wait everything we ordered was out of stock

Bouncers are vile they kicked us out whilst we were saying goodbye to a friend. When we asked why he told us “because i said so.” Obviously the bouncer with the scar down his eye is on some kind of power trip because he started squaring up to our friends and calling one of the boys we were with a “fat c*nt” for saying it was pathetic we were being kicked out for no reason. Also I have witnessed the same bouncer and another throw a man out of the door head first onto the floor (ambulance and police had to come because he couldn’t get back up afterwards) and shoving an old man for trying to help the guy that had been thrown on the ground. Absolutely awful will never go back wasn’t even decent music and to top it off you have psychotic bouncers.

Salimos con amigos y nos echaron cuando todos nos despedimos, el portero con la cicatriz en la cara fue excepcionalmente grosero. Llamó a mi amigo un “gordo c*nt”. Le pregunté al portero detrás de él qué hicimos y me dijo que ni siquiera lo sabía. Todos estábamos sobrios en su mayoría y no estábamos causando ninguna molestia. He oído cosas horribles sobre ese portero siendo físicamente agresivo con otras personas. No es un lugar para ir si quieres divertirte.

Not many items left on the menu. Ordered pasta Bolognese and a cheeseburger. The place was very quiet and we waited 45 minutes. Cheeseburger was very basic, no pickles or mustard as advertised and Bolognese was ok but not the best.

Slow Service at bar. Problem with computer so session was extended.

We went here on a stag do having never been to Newcastle before. We had an absolutely brilliant night playing darts, fuelling up with food and then singing and dancing away to the live music. We all enjoyed it so much that we didn’t feel the need to move on to anywhere else that night! Highly recommend!

They did not allow us to use the space, particularly the piano. They didn't want to sell drinks.

Bar staff are absolutely disgusting, went in for drinks before a theme night elsewhere and my friend said “hello” at the bar and they told us we weren’t getting served. We had had 2 drinks prior in another bar….. absolutely shocking considering it was 5pm and it wasn’t even busy! Will not be returning and will not be recommending to anyone!

We didn't eat here, so haven't scored. Great service. The staff were really accommodating with some mickey taking we were doing between each other in our group. Darts was good, and we'll definitely be back.

Good food delicious my fave is the duck wrap and for the price it's amazing. The cocktails are perfect and cheap the service is quick considering how busy it gets in there and the atmosphere is class with live music and an amazing darts set up can't complain I loved it so much I went back the next time I was in Newcastle. Xxx

Visited here on a Saturday with a large group bit of a strange layout looks like quite a bit of wasted space due to its layout however the service was ok and so was the atmosphere if I was to criticise anything? It would be the gents toilets they are appalling.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at **The WonderBar** in Newcastle, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a lively atmosphere and friendly staff. The Sunday dinner at The WonderBar was nothing short of incredible. The star of the show? The generous cuts of meat they served. Each bite was succulent, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. And let's not forget the abundant gravy that accompanied the dish it was rich, savory, and complemented the meat beautifully. My friend opted for breakfast, and I couldn't help but envy their choice. The plate arrived with a feast for the eyes: golden-brown hash browns, perfectly fried eggs, crispy bacon, and a side of buttered toast. The presentation alone was enough to make my mouth water. And according to my friend, every bite lived up to the visual promise.

Popped in for a pint and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a sports fan, so the screened footy was lost on me. Purchased a pint of Heineken for under a fiver, think less than £4.50..so was very happy 😊

A big plus will be the location, the cocktails section, and the games+ music diversity. Not a quick serving as is always crowded, the staff are trying their best. As mentioned by others , yes , there is a poor cleaning toilet area, and the tables will be full by empty glasses 🥂 Way too lound the live music 😬🫣

Ordered meal share and bolognese pizza share meal came in an oven proof dish like it was a warm up job and the pizza that had mushroom on wasn’t even cooked. It want raw mushroom on the cooked pizza honestly the chef needs another career

We went there tonight order some food but was disappointed the food was definitely warmed up god know for how long ago was there . and bolonese pizza was awful have no toppings and we try tell staff but they can’t be bothered…. I definitely not prefer food from here no more only good thing was hanicakn beer 🍺…

was in Monday very very quiet but got charged £20 per hour for darts yet the board was loose which made games unplayable and we got one set of different very cheap darts between 3 if us really. NOT going back.

I felt fine before and during my time eating my breakfast, but afterwards, I felt lousy. Ended up with an upset stomach. Great if you're just having drinks, bit I strongly advise not to have anything to eat there as I thought I had food poisoning.

not sure how it can be called a sports bar when they don’t play sound for any matches probably other than newcastle games. shocking service from the bartenders, only interested in chatting to each other. girl didn’t speak a word to me when ordering just looked at me with a face like a slapped donkey as though i’d just murdered her loved ones. such a shame as it’s a nice looking bar

So, visited this pub in November 2022 and it was heaving, great atmosphere, Sunday lunch amazing 👏. Returned today at 1 30pm (we live out of the area) and ordered drinks and were looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch, only to be told they'd 'sold out'! Unbelievable considering the place was absolutely dead and apparently Sunday lunch is sold 12 till 5? So disappointing, as was the service, to be honest (and sticky floors?).

Very poor. Booked darts for 8.30 and staff told me I can’t book last minute and when politely asked why, they told me I shouldn’t be so rude. Taken back by the comment, I wasn’t given any solution just told to sit and wait for an hour until it was free. No need for staff to act like that, really poor.

Came in late one night for a few drinks with my friends, was greeted kindly immediately as we walked in. We were unsure what to have and were recommended some delicious cocktails by Max who also made our drinks all evening. He also answered the questions we had about the darts. Overall good vibes and will be back ☺️

The games/activities are ok, but when you go in, you are overpowered by the smell of stale beer. Not ideal for a date

Wonderful Bar to have a meal, drinks and watch sports.

Shocking staff Manager is horrible. Abrupt. Clueless. Not interested in customers at all. She should work in a funeral directors or similar. Horrible. We will never return. We were served hot sandwiches/ bacon/egg/ sausage. Very nice. Table was beside the darts board Half way through a pint and sarnies we were told to move as darts were booked. No other tables available but told to leave "now" When I asked why wasn't the table marked reserved before we were served breakfast she said "out" and then asked the bouncers to make us leave. Absolutely ridiculous. She should not be working in the hospitality industry. What a horrible person. I have never experienced customer service like that. The door staff were spot on...just doing what they were told. No issues there . But the staff and manager need to be replaced.. shocking/embarrassing. I'll.never enter there again and I'm a regular customer. Or was.

Brilliant place to go and watch footie match. Brilliant atmosphere. Good idea to go early as it fills up really quickly as popular place to come.plenty standing space though. Foods nice as are the drinks. Prices are moderate Children are also welcome here but not upstairs as its adults only. Not sure if they have accessible toilets but they did have toilets upstairs.tgey do have accessible downstairs entrance. They also have a bar downstairs. The wonderbar can be found inside the gate. Canny bus service runs close by, when they are not on strike or you can ride the metro in St James, monument or Central station being the closest metro stations. You can also drive in and park in the main (paid) car parks. Would definitely come back and have recommended to family and friends already x

The toilets are disgusting here, I don't think they'd been cleaned the entire day, some of the seats in the bar were broken and mismatched, so half our group were sitting with their chins practically on the table.

Not bad, but £6 a pint seems excessive. Darts was good, though, especially as the computer works the score out, so you don't have to if you're slightly inebriated. There are lots of different games to play.

Messed up the food order several times (not putting the first order through, then taking about 20 minutes to tell me the second order was not available) meaning I was eating about an hour later than everyone else in the group, which made it annoying going in and out of eating when it was my turn on the darts we booked. Staff didn't apologise for the first time and the second they allowed me to "choose any alternative" only to decline a few options for being more expensive. Food was mediocre when it arrived

Lovely staff, reasonably priced , food looked great. Only gripe was the Guinness lines in need of a clean !

The bartender girl with loads of cool earings was SOOOO nice! I couldn’t leave any tips, but i’ll deffo leave some when i come back, because she was so nice and accommodating. I felt really really welcomed. Basically, the place and the atmosphere was immaculate. And once again, the bartender should deffo get a raise, as she was so warm, kind, nice and professional! <3

Couldn't get a seat inside, but we managed to get outside the pub. Still felt part of the atmosphere. A great night out.

Warning to sports fans. A slightly peculiar mix of sport and live music, so no commentary allowed for the rugby game we went to watch. The place was run very chaotically the night we were there, I booked a table for a stag party with the plan of eating here but was informed that the kitchen had closed an hour and a half early at the kitchens discretion. And this message was delivered rude and bluntly. We had to put some money behind the bar to reserve for a large group, but every time we wanted to use this, it seemed to cause lots of confusion. All in all, had fun but was just more stressful than it needed to be.

Its okay at best, when i went to order it seemed like a lot of item’s on the menu were unavailable including pizza due to no dough. Seems they were to lazy to make a fresh pizza. I’m in no rush to come back.

Nice bar food is OK nothing special. Hanging kebabs are good. Staff were friendly and a nice place for a bite to eat.

what an amazing bar and staff, they held an NHS party for us on the 1st September for around 100 staff members, can not fault this amazing team, everything straight forward and ready to go from 6pm. highly recommend for any party you may have

went in ordered food , was served very quick, found a table still had dishes from earlier on we thought someone would come clean up didn’t end up being cleaned up took around an hour for food to arrive and then when it did it came wrong ordered a burger it was burnt as a crisp , then sent it back took around another 20 minutes for the food to come back even tho we said it would be 5 minutes, when we were leaving there was still the dishes from the earlier people who were sat there , overall not a good experience

Loved our team evening here. We played darts many times and had lots of lovely drinks It’s a cool venue and will be back to play again soon.

Lively atmosphere on weekends. I was there on Fri night and it was good! Food was below average. Tried the tofu and veg hanging kebabs, hardly was there any tofu or veggies. Huge portion of chips though! Even after the pub being super busy, the staff and service was commendable and adjusting.
