Just off the top of Northumberland Street this popular bar can be found down the lane. Always quite busy on a weekday afternoon, plays all the 60s, 70s, 80s music so the customers aren't kids anymore. Somewhere you can go and relax and watch some of the characters that get in.

Excellent atmosphere, picked up when the toon fans came in. DJ knew the score with the songs. Bar staff very fast nd regulars were in top form. Great choice of drinks/beers too. Definitely come again

Was the first time I have been to this pub and certainly the last! My partner and I (both pensions) called in for a drink before getting our last bus home. We were served ok and then sat down to have a chat. After a few minutes a burly security man came across and told us he had been asked by the manager to throw us out. I asked to see the manager who then turned up at our table. We were told that I (male) could stay but my partner (female) had to leave. I was then I noticed that, apart from some bar staff, I could not see any other females in the place. Asked the Manager the reason for this and was told that some 6 months previous my partner (68 years old) had been abusive to one of the staff. Tried to convince that her recollection must be wrong but would not give the benefit of doubt and we had to leave. I can only conclude that the real reason she was asked to leave was because she was a female among a gathering of men (who I noticed were also dancing together on the dance floor.

Sgt Peppers is one of the best pubs in Newcastle. It has a great atmosphere due to good DJ, canny bar staff and absolutely brilliant door staff

Popped in here for a quick drink before a gig. Haven’t been in for 30yrs so was expecting a little bit of nostalgia and fun as this place used to be in the list as a “must visit” for any night out in Newcastle. Known for its trashy 80s music and nothing wrong for that. A lady worse for wear had pulled a chair and placed it just outside the door so she could sit and smoke. Nice. We walked in about 7pm on a Monday night to a private party sign in front of us but got told to ignore it. Fair enough. The place was bouncing, but even above the extra loud music (and I like it loud) the screeches, swearing and shouting of the people in there, made us just look at each other. It was less than half full but it was chaos. Definitely a trip in from the West end of the city and those that are from the area will know what I mean by that. It looked and felt like it could kick off at any moment, so as I was there with my wife, we just turned and left before ordering a drink. A fun place gone to the dogs in all honesty. Never again. Shame.

Not the refurbishment they promised. Still good music but a lick of pain doesn't make a refurb. Pales in comparison to the other pubs around. Still stinks and the ladies and gents toilets have had a plastic make over. Fixtures won't last 2 minutes !

Enticed in by the offer of cheap cocktails? Don't be! We were and they were the poorest cocktails we have ever had - all we could taste was the cranberry, we weren't even convinced there was any alcohol in the drink at all. The pub had a drab, dark, dingy feeling to it as well. I'd suggest trying Wetherspoons along the lane for a much better deal on surroundings and cocktails.

Called in for an afternoon drink and it has changed quite a bit. No sticky carpet..hardly a neon sign in sight!!!!!! I think it's probably spoilt it a bit. Maybe too clean now LOL 😆 Very quiet but probably ok still at night.

What should have and is usually a good night out was spoilt by a rubbish DJ. She would only play songs she liked herself. If you requested anything she didn’t like or want to play she would say it was either too slow or little known, but then proceed to play numerous lesser known and slower songs if it suited her own pallet. Several friends requested Super Trouper by Abba and she refused as it would apparently “empty the dance floor”. Then she played several songs I’d never even heard of and which no one danced to. Really spoilt the night for all of us and everyone on every table around us. Made us not want to ever go back there again. Hate it when you get a crap DJ that only plays rubbish songs they like themselves. Zero stars.

The worst men's toilets in the country! Makes the toilet in Trainspotting look good!! Also slow bar service. Avoid!

For months I'd planned to go out overnight while staying in Newcastle. I messaged and received replies via Facebook and so was looking forward to spending time here. I visited during a Saturday afternoon and got confirmed I'd be arriving later in the evening but dressed up to match the 80's music that would be played. But probably due to the Coronavirus social distancing measures I was refused entry. This was very disappointing and upset me.

There’s a horrible smell about this place, toilets or horrendous. Lumps and bumps everywhere I’m suprised nobody has hurt them self’s. Staff seem to never be on the floor clearing & the fire ect it’s re padlock kicked surly this is not allowed. Not enough seating. Canned beer :/ Music is to loud there’s just nothing bout this place that’s inviting.

I've been going here for a number of years but have noticed a steady decline lately. The music is always good with some classics being played all through the night, it can however take an eternity to get service at the bar. I recently attended and was overcharged at the bar, the barmaid confirmed she had overcharged me and there was a camera over the till but when she spoke to her manager I was told the till was down so wouldn't be getting any of my money back despite my protests. I can't speak about the ladies but the less said about the mens toilets the better!

First time visit for a couple of drinks, unfortunately the whole place smelled of dirty floor cloth mixed with bleach, I can put up with most things but for us it was bad. Saying that, I do know people who visit and really like it so I’m hoping it was just a one off. Probably won’t go back though...

Been here on a number of occasions, always a good atmosphere, mostly for the over 25s crowd. Play "happy" music from the 60s through to the 90s, happy fun pub atmosphere. Drink prices are not too bad for a city centre location. The only down side is the SMELL FROM THE MENS TOILETS! absoloutely disgusting! I do not understand why the management have not addressed this!!?

just popped in to have a quick cocktail with family ,very quiet not many in asked for toasties and was told no food after lunch we both had pink Ladies where not very good they seemed watered down very bland .Music was Nostalgic the 60"s drank up and went shopping .

El ambiente es siempre bueno también.

Estaba con los amigos pasando un buen rato había música, así que decidimos cantar sólo de la camarera para decirnos para estar tranquilo, ya que era sólo la cena este ambiente provocó un instante y nos fuimos. . . No creo que he. conocimos una desagradable camarera en toda mi vida. . . Muy decepcionante! !

Looked good from the outside but one drink and we were gone. We should have known when the barmaid automatically assumed we wanted triples. Go elsewhere.

Been going to st.peppers for many years for lunch sadly won't be going again ,in the last few weeks there has been a massive change in the quality of food ,the prices have changed ,they've taken off the2for 8 pound you don't mind paying extra if your going to get a decent meal but we havnt found that is the case as we have been in a few times over the last few weeks and it's been very disappointed.

Wandered into this establishment on a works night out, as it was on the way to the next venue we were planning to visit. The group was attracted in thanks to the 80s music blasting out.This place looks and feels like a social club! The Fosters on tap tasted off and there's a strange and sticky-footed dance floor.

Called in on a Sunday evening as it was my partner's birthday and the pub seemed lively with good music. We ordered 2 pints of Carling however we received 2 pints of flat lager. When we challenged the bar staff about the lager we were told the drinks were fine and he pointed to a single bubble in the drink!!!. We did not want to cause a fuss at the bar so we took the drinks away however when a member od staff was collecting glasses my partner challenged him again explaining the beer was flat. He refused to accept it was eventhough there was no head on the pint and you could plainly see it was. There was no apology, offer of replacement or refund...he merely walked away!!. We will not be returning to this pub as the customer service is non existent, lager is flat and bar staff are rude....my advice is to stay clear as any advantages are well ouweighted by the abysmal customer service and lager

I recently went to SGT Peppers for a Sunday dinner after a family member recommended it.I must say I was highly surprised how delicious it was. For only £5 the portion was extremely generous and every thing was homemade, even the giant Yorkshire pudding was, which sat nicely on top of the dinner.We usually have a desert but due to the size of the dinner we had to give it a miss this time.We will be definitely be visiting again for another delicious dinner.Thanks to all the staff as well for the great customer service.

Whenever I return home to Newcastle to visit my family and friends I have to go to Sgt. Peppers. I love this pub. The music is brilliant, mainly 70's. The atmosphere is great and of course the special offers on the drink. My friend and myself has been visiting here for about 40yrs, that says a lot.

Great place for lunch,decent selection of home cooked food. They do a good quiche,normaly two to choose from and home made real chips.

i had recently visited this restaurant this afternoon with my family we had ordered hot chocolates and when they came we tasted them and found that they tasted off so we took them back to the counter and the staff said that "they only took the cream out this morning so didnt know how it was off" they werent very understanding and never apologised to us, Also the scampi we had ordered was hard and tasteless, we were not very satisfied and will not be returning

This place is a little tired but nonetheless a great place for a drink. The staff are friendly and serve you quick. Cocktails start at £2 and various bottles of lager for around the same price. The place is comfortable. I like it. Haven't eaten here yet but have heard reviews. There are sometimes some weirdos in but they are harmless

I attended SGT Peppers on a night out with a friend and we both agreed, we would go back. Firstly, the drinks prices and promotions are excellent. Who can complain about 3 bottles of Bud for a fiver? A previous review suggested this bar is befitting of Benidorm. I agree, the atmosphere to me felt like the being on the boat to Amsterdam crossed with a Christmas party. Who could ask for more?

My father had been a regular at this pub before becoming ill. We asked to hold his wake here and explained reasons why...manageress was very abrupt stating it was not possible as they serve meals. No condolonces offered and even though we said we wouldnt be asking for private function just a buffet we were told "it's not about that it's about kitchen staff" she didn't even ask how many would be expected to attend.... Good business plan, and her loss as i as well as other family members are loathed to spend another penny in her pub!!!!

the staff are friendly, good service, the bar is a little tired. the music is good. the age group of the customers are 40years and lots more. anything goes in here the majority of the people just want a good drink and a laugh, and maybe a bit of a dance. this place has Benidorm wrote all over it.

Good place to end the night if you are gerring a metro or catching a bus as both are close by.This place seriously needs a facelift and the gents stink (always have done)The drinks are really good value and even cheaper if you go earlier. The music is what you would expect from the name and great for 60's 70's and 80's classics, although the DJ is crap. No smoking area - ypu have to go out in the alley with the bins and the bouncers.All this said - i like the place - maybe it's my age and the atmosphere is always good and the place is never empty and rarely any seats free as there are not that many. bar is very narrow, so it always involves getting your way through groups of people to get to the bar or smelly toilet.

Came in for a couple of drinks with friends, cheesy music - which was fine, drinks cheap - also fine. Staff friendly. A bit sticky and worn so could do with a facelift ( couldn't we all) . Definitely targeted at the over 40 crowd in fact the 40 year olds likely to be the youngest so if you are looking for trendy, chart music this is not the place for you!

Classic bar, somewhat out of the way down the side of Vine Lane, off Northumberland Street. Good choice of drinks, very friendly. Good atmosphere, don't be put off by the fact it's a bit out of the way and difficult to see into, it's fine on the inside!

What a good bar, especially at the weekend. Packed out, no seats left, great atmoshere, all ages and sizes, 60's 70's 80's music. Proper Geordie place.

Often pop in for a drink if we are in town ,it's a friendly pub that plays great music . This was the second time we have had a Sunday lunch and enjoyed them both times , it's £3 50 for a small one or £5 for a large one the meat was nice , the veg was fresh, the Yorkshire pudding was Huge and homemade. Well worth the money

Went to Peppers after being told we had to wait 15 mins for a table at F & Bs. Limited menu, ( burgers, scampi, steak & Ale pie etc ) but the food was fresh, hot and tasty and under £13 for 2 scampi, chips & salad and a burger, chips & salad tremendous value. Friendly staff and some good 60's music playing (not too loudly) in the background. Great value.
