The roast potatoes lost the final star they were tough as old boots not at all appetising! Shame let down a otherwise excellent lamb Sunday lunch. Making them fresher rather than standing under a hot lamp can’t be that difficult.

I'd like to express my disappointment with our recent dining experience. Despite booking a table for 9 people, including 5 adults and 4 children, for Easter Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday, we were seated in an area designated for dogs, even though we didn't have a pet. This was particularly challenging for my daughter, who suffers from allergies. When we requested to be moved, we were informed that they were fully booked and unable to accommodate us elsewhere. Additionally, the quality of the food was disappointing. I ordered the lamb, which was excessively fatty. Although we provided feedback to the staff, who appeared to be quite young, we didn't receive much of a response beyond a vague promise to inform someone else. Overall, the lack of attention to our concerns and the unsatisfactory dining experience has led us to the decision not to return. It's unfortunate that the staff didn't seem to demonstrate much care or concern for our experience.

I arrived and ordered a pizza was told there was a pre planned large party in and pizza were sold out, I assumed a large party ordering pizza would mean extras were ordered to supply the normies, so had to have a second choice which was a sub par burger sadly. Drinks were okay but when we asked the manager (jennifer) we was told was greeted with an aggressive attitude towards the food ordered. Wouldn't come again, our waitress was lovely and alot more approachable than the manager that greeted us, but it didn't help the experience sadly.

Arrived at the Wollaton for Sunday dinner. We was put on a small table in the bar area that was already occupied by someone else which we had to ask to move also surrounded by football fans and dogs. As we sat there we realised that we was expected to go to the bar to order, something that if we had wanted that sort of service we would have booked somewhere else . As we watched the staff bring bowls out for the numerous dogs around the bar area that were sat on the settees and walking around the same staff also brought our cutlery and food out. The food was lukewarm and that’s being kind also having to ask for new cutlery after the starters, once we complained only then was we offered a table in the actual restaurant area. Unfortunately for me after being around dogs whilst trying to eat my appetite was gone . If you like being around dogs while you eat then this is the place, I like dogs but not around my food

Nice place but because we had a dog with us, we were in the bar. No table service in the bar with meant ordering at the bar. Very slow to produce the 8 drinks ordered. One of the starters was missed and had to be cooked, leading to one member of the party sitting there while others finished their starters. Food was good when it arrived but one of party who was gluten intolerant, even asking and telling the staff multiple times, was served food that was not gluten free, leading her to be violently sick when we got home. When ordering I kept mentioning the gluten intolerance and orders were marked as GFA in the menu but I don't believe this was respected in the kitchen. They were very busy but that is really no excuse for not respecting allergens. We chose this place because of the extensive gluten free options and having the ability to bring our dog. I suspect that I would not be able to persuade my wife to go back.

We visited friends who took us to this venue. Although it's dog friendly on arrival we were told the dog couldn't sit with us in the restaurant as it was busy and there was no space for our group anywhere else. The staff member didn't really offer any solution other than to take the dog home so our friend had to drive the 40 minute round trip. The staff member didn't offer any kind of apology about the disruption to our evening and just pointed to our table. Whilst not rude our server was not overly warm and after seeing herself and only one other server I can understand why. For a Saturday evening the restaurant seemed very understaffed dealing with several large parties. On a good note our mains were delicious. The desserts however left a lot to be deisred. A request for custard instead of ice cream on one dessert seemed to be a problem and when it was delivered it came with a thimble of custard which was obviously a joke on the chefs part. Two crumbles were not eaten as they were not good. The crumbles were removed from the bill as a good will gesture. Overall I would not recommend this place. It's understaffed and the staff seemed stressed, unhappy and unable to give great customer service. Food good but desserts are bad.

We went for a meal at the Wollaton Pub and Kitchen last Sunday for a belated birthday meal. We were greeted by the lovely bar manager (his name escapes me, apologies!) and by the lovely Jen and Sally. We sat in a booth which my five year old daughter loved. The service was excellent. The staff are always so welcoming and attentive. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We ordered starters and main meals. Our starter was a Camembert to share for two with a mixture of breads and cheese twists. It was absolutely gorgeous! For our main meal our partner and I decided on the steak with Parmesan fries, bernaise sauce, garlic mushrooms and a salad garnish. That steak is quite possibly one of the best I have ever eaten. It was an exceptional meal. I also feel I need to praise the children’s meal too. My daughter had a margarita pizza with chips that was stone baked and absolutely delicious. I could quite easily have had that myself. This was followed by ice cream. We had a wonderful experience and cannot wait to return. Kirsty and Chris Eggar.

I’ve attended The Wollaton plenty of times, spent plenty of money- and as a local, it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect and want. The menu is okay and you can look past the expense for the convenience and cosy atmosphere. What you can’t look past is service, and it’s not every member of staff- it’s primarily what I can only assume is the manager, tall chap often behind the bar- stands out from the rest. He is unapproachable, like you’ve annoyed him even though it’s your first time being served. Seems to go out of his way to avoid helping… Maybe he’s busy, maybe he’s short staffed, I get it- but man he’s consistent. Whether it’s a midweek lunch, Saturday night mayhem or a Sunday dinner with the family he manages to consistently make you feel remarkably unwelcome. If he’s the standard, the standard will affect the rest of the team and I really hope it doesn’t.

Unfortunately this pub’s food has deteriorated to being inedible. We went for a Sunday dinner for a family birthday meal and the food was awful. 4 meals came out cold and were sent back and 2 of the replacement meals were also cold. We were able to get a refund for those meals. My father in law had the ultimate roast and after saving his favourite meat until last it was dangerously undercooked. We were given a round of free puddings but the whole experience was ruined. We have had some really nice meals here in the past, but this place has really gone downhill. On arrival we stood around waiting to be seated when a young waiter finally asked “have you booked?” When we said no he replied that he would have to ask if we could get in….?The place was no more than a quarter full at 7-45 on a mid-week night. Guy on the pass told him “Yes” so we were shown to a table. Immediately noticed the windows were filthy and the table sticky. Menus were brought and asked if we wanted a drink. Ordered a bottle of the house white wine…. (Only later to find out it was £28!) after we ordered about 10 minutes passed and the waiter came over again and said “Are you ready to order?” We looked puzzled at him and he just looked at us until I reminded him he had already taken our order! My wife ordered a pizza which was terrible, burnt onto a piece of paper and looked like a 50p frozen supermarket special. I had the steak pie which was very small and came with mushy peas that were lukewarm and a little pot of greasy re-heated chips. We ordered a couple of Brûlée’s which were runny, bland and incredibly small…. No starters, no coffees and the bill was over £70…..! Shockingly bad value. I got the impression they are seriously understaffed and the staff they do have clearly have little experience. The food was mediocre at best, the service appalling and place is looking tired and tatty….. Suffice to say we will not be returning….. one to avoid!

They had a difficult situation to deal with yesterday afternoon. We'd pre-booked a table for three in the bar area. When we got there we eventually found a large and somewhat rowdy group had presumably swopped our table sign with theirs to take over the bigger near the TV area. With our table number now 31 instead of 32. They were noisy to the extent where it was virtually impossible to hear ourselves speak and my partner's 86 year old mum was saying she regretted coming here. Then, to compound matters, we were asked to vacate where we sitting mid-starter to make room for the correct table number booking for 3 p.m. The waitress clearly didn't want to approach the noisy group to get our original table back, so the three of us got shoved onto a too small for three table near the exit door, which was constantly being left open by people coming and going. Then our food was forgotten after three wrong plates of it were brought over meant for other tables. Near to an hour after arriving, and after my partner had to go to the bar to complain, we got moved to the comfier and warmer Table 40, with an apology from the lady manager and offering to do something about the bill. Unfortunately that offer never materialised, but at least the thought was there. It's a pity, because clearly moving on that group was a challenging situation, and I can understand young girls not wanting to do it. But there is a big and tall male manager there who could have got involved but didn't. Food, when we got it, was excellent as usual. And the female manager was at least apologetic. But essentially it ruined what could have been a lovely afternoon.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon after a walk around Wollaton Hall Gardens (highly recommended!) for a traditional Sunday roast ‘with all the trimmings’. Greeting on arrival was friendly and we were shown straight to our table... and it all kind of went downhill from there! The server may well have been on a sponsored silence and barely cracked a smile the whole time we were there. She was only young though, so let’s put that down to lack of confidence. Ordered four drinks. When they arrived, two of them were wrong. No servers around so had to go to the bar to rectify the second one. Ordered four roast dinners and a side of cauliflower cheese. Server returned five minutes later to say there was no cauliflower cheese. Disappointing, but fair enough. Food arrived. No Yorkshire puddings on our plates. Only realised after the server had left the table. Went to the bar (second time) to ask about the missing Yorkshire puddings, to be told they’d run out. No real apology. Just ‘we’ve run out I’m afraid’. Would have thought this might have been information offered up earlier - with an apology, perhaps. Food was fine. Nothing special, but absolutely fine. Roast potatoes were really good. Yorkshire puddings were… absent! Could really have done with some more gravy but there were no servers around to ask - and nobody came to check if everything was OK. And by now I really couldn’t be bothered to make a third trip to the bar whilst my food went cold. All in all, a disappointing experience. We won’t be returning. Oh. No reduction on the bill for the missing Yorkshires... and I was charged for the more expensive (and incorrect) drink order - but couldn’t be bothered to argue over £2.00.

Although a reasonably long menu, the type of choice is limited certainly within the "pub food" class. The evening I ate here service was unhurried to slow food Ok had the weather been warmer I'd have rather sat in the pub garden. One quirk of the pub is that to get to the car park you have to pass through the car park of the supermarket next door (probably built on what had been part of what would have been the pubs car park sometime ago(?)

Booked online recommendation from a family member.. Unclean toilets. Menu although reads well, we were VERY dissapointed. My husband sent his food back. Our chips were terrible, full of black eyes. The gammon was SO salty, and was left inedible. I complained to the waitress, she return after speaking to the Manager offering a 10% discount. We accepted. We ordered dessert x 3, they were better than the main. Conclusion: Over priced and under delivered. Will never eat there again. This establishment should better its standards to match its affluent location. Our bill was £76.97, extortionate and we left feeling hungry.

A really good full English breakfast for £12. The ideal portion and cooked to perfection is not too greasy. My son’s orange and lemonade was mixed well too!

We visited The Wollaton after looking for a dog friendly breakfast venue near wollaton park, I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was absolutely delicious 😋 the service was good and the pub it’s self is a welcoming, nicely decorated place, we were lucky enough to have a sunny morning, so we ate our breakfast on the benches outside. I would recommend this venue.

The Wollaton has a great atmosphere with quick and efficient service. Their Friday chippy deal is so worth it. Lovely evening spent in the pub.

Lovely catch up with an old friend. Easy to reserve a table and the veggie breakfast was yummy. Thanks to the staff for engaging with our ‘quiet’ daughters too! A nice mix of people in on a Sunday morning, always good to see

The Wolaton is a good place for a special meal out. Prices are rather high but in general the quality is good. We had a fantastic room with a huge wooden table, which helped make the occasion special. Main course roasts were huge and interesting....
