The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen in Nottingham

Food was terrible, oily and greasy, upset stomach.

Food was very good. However new teriyaki salmon was close to too hot, however perfectly cooked. The rest of the dish was bland. All other dishes ordered by the party were outstanding. Negatives - Not able to produce a coffee after 8:30 pm... "Sorry, the coffee machine is turned off"... We could also not help but feeling pushed out, as we were repeatedly asked if we wanted anything else, if water glasses could be removed before we finished... it all became a bit comical, as at least three staff were needed to work out how to split the bill / take payment across three cards... as we (despite all of the above)... did want to includes service/tip! .... it took then so long to work out we almost missed our Uber. Now,... would we come back? Absolutely, and with less hiccups and a coffee a 5-star should easily be theirs. Food is great. Minor point - some variety re beers would be appreciated. Some local breweries / dark beers.

Popped in here for a drink while I'm Nottingham and there was three of us,and we all thought that the bloke who was on at the time was very rude and he didn't have people skills.

Someone needs to tell the chef that dauphinoise potatoes are made with cream, what they are serving is Boulangere potatoes - which were ok but not what was promised on the menu. Stick to the burgers and sky sports, the steak was quite pricey and not worth it.

Absolutely awful. Entered the establishment server was on the phone stood waiting to be served for around 8 minutes , he finally serves us with a right face on him very grumpy and not sociable or inviting in the slightest. Asked if they were serving food got a abrupt no kitchen is closed, took out drinks to sit at a table near by as the bar area was pretty full I have spinal issues and didn’t want to sit on the really high chairs also with my dad who’s in his 60s , storms over you can’t sit there guys , house rules bar only , so we moved. Went to the toilet washed my hands hand dryer wasn’t working, asked him for some blue roll to where he said is the dryer not working ? No I’m asking for blue roll for no reason whatsoever, kept looking at us like we were about to rob the place dirty looks constantly we took our mugs to the bar before leaving no thank you said thanks and bye totally ignored us. Perhaps it’s because we wasn’t locals but even still terrible service avoid at all costs.

Once considered rather pricey but other venues have increased their prices whereas here kept about the. That means that the quality food is good value.

Called in for a quick bite to eat while visiting family, my cousin's dog was allowed to join us which was really nice we didn't have to leave him, it had a country pub vibe to it which was lovely & cosy, ther service was really quick & friendly & the food was delicious

Very nice ,modern. Good food at reasonable prices. There is a dog free zone and a dogs allowed zone, making it popular with dog walkers who have round Wollaton Park

¡Impresionante por decir lo menos! Fuimos a tomar unas copas un domingo por la tarde, nos sentamos en el restaurante porque nadie dijo que no podíamos. Pedí nuestra segunda copa, y Jen, el gerente del bar, vino y dijo que si no te mueves, te pedirán que te vayas. Muy de la nada y hostil. El restaurante no estaba lleno, ni ocupado, pero nos mudamos. Cuando se le preguntó si alguien podía limpiar la mesa una y otra vez, Jen fue muy grosera. Nos sentamos y tomamos nuestras bebidas y al salir se le dijo a F++ 1 OFF. Obviamente un acogedor foodablishment familiar! ¡NO! No volveré a ir y si alguien está buscando una bebida relajante domingo por la tarde NO recomendaría!

We were greeted by a very rude woman who told us that no seats were available. While I appreciate the restaurant area is for food it was empty. The side of the bar had a wake which made the area busy and no seats available. When we asked if we could sit in the area we just got a rude response and told no guarantees in a pub for a seat. I totally get that but the area is empty and we would have moved if any bookings came in. When you don't know anything about someone and they ask for a seat there might be a valid reason more than just wantingto sit down. We will definitely not be going back.

Salió a tomar una copa y quedó impresionado con la decoración, se veía muy bonito con todos los de las luces de Navidad. Así que decidí ir aquí para nuestra cena de Nochevieja y reservé una mesa. El sitio web era confuso con respecto a los menús, ya que una página dijo que el menú establecido festivo solo estaba disponible hasta el 24 de diciembre, y otra dijo que era hasta la víspera de Año Nuevo. Intenté llamar repetidamente y nadie cogió el teléfono. Envió un mensaje a través de Facebook y le dijeron que era solo el menú a la carta en la víspera de Año Nuevo. Esto no se muestra en el sitio web y envié una captura de pantalla explicando que no había un menú a la carta debajo de la sección de menú del sitio web - solo menú fijo, menú de almuerzo, almuerzo de domingo y viernes de mariscos, no a la carta. Le pregunté si por favor me lo podían enviar porque algunos de nosotros somos vegetarianos así que nos gustaría saber cuáles son las opciones. Leyeron mi mensaje y después de un día no habían respondido, ya que la víspera de Año Nuevo es mañana he reservado en otro lugar y cancelado mi reserva aquí. Después de ver las otras reseñas de la comida, probablemente sea una decisión sabia de todos modos. Volveré por una copa quizás en el futuro pero no por comida ya que la página web es tan poco clara y no se pueden molestar en responder a mi consulta, obviamente no necesitan mi costumbre.

Good food, but the menu was rather limited and overpriced. A pleasant meal, but service a little slow.

Absolutamente fantástica experiencia! Un cálido saludo por parte de todo el personal y una variedad de comida del menú de Navidad entregado caliente a la mesa! La comida era encantadora y algunos de los platos parecían una obra de arte, plato de pescado, en particular. Nuestra camarera, señora con el pelo rubio corto (lo siento, no cogió su nombre) era genial!

Came for celebration night total 13 people first time food was really bad every one didn't like chips terrible mushy peas like cheap out of tin burgers really rubbish this is the first time I have ever reviewed anything this was a very over price for the food quality none of the party want to go back

Shocking management. I had the Boardroom booked for 20 people for breakfast for a very special birthday and an email was received two weeks to the date to say they had cancelled - with zero reason given. When the pub was called and asked why the member of staff just replied with zero empathy - write to the manager. Totally disgusting and very poor customer service.

Oh dear … would you like the cheapest sliced white bread to attempt to dip in to your Camembert? Or trying to disguise as sour dough? Perhaps you’d prefer a full rare Cumberland sausage wrapped in bacon fat only rather than chipotle? Then this is the pub for your Christmas meal. On a positive note we were left alone … nobody came to check on us and ask about the food. Kelly’s hero’s were playing and they really were brilliant. Thank you to the band and pub for booking them.

Went last Saturday and was very disappointed. I had the Roasted Belly Pork. Made our order and within 5 minutes of ordering it appeared. I was suspicious then, it as like warm. It sat in puddle of gravy, the crackling was soggy, I had to leave that as it was very chewy. To top it the bread and butter pudding was very cakey and a tasteless type of custard. Will not go back again.

Pub va cuesta abajo rápido. En el área apta para perros está totalmente sucia y necesita una limpieza profunda gracias a los perros sucios, hay comida para perros en todo el piso, cuencos para perros y orina. La gente anima a sus perros a saltar sobre los asientos de tela después de haber estado afuera caminando bajo la lluvia y el barro, por lo que los asientos son absolutamente repugnantes, muy manchados y apestosos. Ladridos y peleas constantes mientras la gente está tratando de disfrutar de un agradable almuerzo relajante el domingo. Solo hemos tenido que movernos dos veces gracias a que gente desconsiderada animaba a sus perros a saltar al asiento de al lado mientras comíamos, le pedimos muy amablemente a uno de enfriamiento que moviera a su perro hasta que al menos hubiéramos terminado, pero nos dijeron que nos fuéramos. Vi a una niña recoger el suyo y sentarlo en la mesa para una sesión de fotos, entonces cuando salió de la mesa ni siquiera se limpió antes de que una familia se sentara allí a comer. Realmente necesitas resolver esto ya que es un comportamiento desagradable y también cambiar tus asientos de tela por cuero, ya que al menos eso se puede limpiar, idealmente restringirlos a una cierta área y no a toda la sala. Voy a compartir esto con la salud ambiental junto con fotos de los muebles manchados y la suciedad en general.

The food was nice although the parmasan cheese was too thickly grated and could have been put on when the meal was brought to the table as its an aquired taste. The drinks were far too expensive, I was basically charged £10.20 for 2 cordials. The waiter was efficient and very friendly.

Great place for a family meal, although unfortunately they'd run out of most options for Sunday lunch by 4pm. Food was good and staff were friendly with good service.

We had the fish and chips with our 97 year old dad. He said it was the best fish and chips he’s ever had and that’s some accolade. Well done to the talented chef he should be commended for his work and talent as the food is absolutely amazing. The service is brilliant too.

Nice pub. The pizza was disappointing and not very tasty but some of the other food ordered by the table looked good and they enjoyed it. A good place to have a few quiet pints.

Local to me, but now gets fewer visits from us, can be quite an expensive afternoon out while drinking here.

We've been here a few times as it's out local however on the last two visits the food has been awful, either overly salty or too much pepper, i swear i even tasted pepper in the apple and rhubarb crumble topping. such a shame as the atmosphere is great at this place

Massive improvements needed! Service very slow and waited a good half hour to be served! Food itself is a complete disaster and a massive cry for help. I could've gave one star only, but bumped it up as furnishings and interior is very good and although service was beyond too slow, some staff seem to be trying and polite enough which is why I scored service a generous three stars. The worst pizza I've ever had. Both me and my wife had two different pizzas and both had no flavour at all. Mine was burnt and all I could taste was burnt toast for the rest of the night. I didn't want to say anything at the time as it would of ruined the special occasion. But put the fact that mine was burnt to one side, my wife said the same ( no flavour ) For saying it was a very quiet night and not many people in the pub, the drinks service to the table was a bit of a joke as the staff member was on the phone instead. Coffees going cold at the bar. I ended up getting my own drinks. Thanks for a crappy night, you won't be seeing us again for your over priced food and drinks. Poor form..........

Nice looking pub, food came quickly, my fish and chips was great but my daughter’s chicken nuggets were cremated. After we got the bill it took about 20 minutes for them to take payment and they only did after I flagged a waitress down, it was around 3 pm and the pub was empty. A single course took about 90 minutes from entering to leaving.

Really nice restaurant. Food was great and atmosphere is fantastic. Staff are very friendly. The battered cod was delicious and pork belly was tasty with mash potatoes and vege.

This was a family gathering and we booked a space the called the boardroom and had a buffet for 15 of us. The food was good and the staff were helpful.

We had dinner here for while attending the Archery GB National Tour Finals. The food was very good. We both had the 8oz steak and it was cooked to perfection. We didn't have the fish and chips, but saw a few coming past our table and they looked amazing. Definitely will try it next year. The service was quick and attentive and the staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend!

It was very stressful ordering food from a loud bar. I had to shout the order as the till was tucked away in the corner. The order arrived with one meal missing, I had to reorder that meal and pay again (I wasn't charged first time) and by the time that meal arrived we had all finished our meals/drink. No apology for there error.

16 of us served within half an hour empty plates all round excellent food and service. We were all impressed!

The clan was in the area and we reserved a spot here to get everyone fed and watered. Parking is free around the back. It's really nice on the inside but seems disorganised with the staff. There was a lot of chasing up food and it took a little while for it all to come out. We were in early and maybe they were still getting into the flow of things. Food was nice but pricey for what you get. Yet the service is what needs work on. Felt neglected once at the table and trying to chase up things wasn't the easiest. Would have given it another start for decent service but our experience was average. Hope you have a better one. Enjoy.

Been coming here since it was The Willoughby/The Greenhouse and watched it evolve over time. The current iteration of the Wollaton creates an interesting hybrid of local pub with a smart dining experience and great tasting cusinine. The service is friendly and nothing is too much to ask. The music outside can be a little loud on a Friday for casual drinkers (currently using temporary PA speakers rather than permanent ones in the building) but is to be expected to create the atmosphere of nightlife that Nottingham is known for.

Been many times before when we wanted something a little better than normal pub grub. But our recent visit on Thursday night was very dissapointing. Polite staff but poor service, poor quality food and the toilets very poor. Our waitress appeared to be inexperienced, which is ok. Wine glasses were actually sprite glass. The menu items were unclear what was actually available. The chips anemic which I didn't eat. The antipasti sharing starter was mostly bread. I mentioned the undercooked chips as I thought they needed to know and was offered 10% off the bill.

Wollaton has a well deserved reputation for its big Sunday lunches. If you are feeling hungry their is also an option with a trio of meats. We seem to always be there in pretty big groups and obviously chaotic they always seem to deliver what we need and are happy to provide sauces, extra gravy and replacement bits and bobs to please the fussy. Have not made it to deserts but it looks tasty. Never seem to be there for other meals but going by the Sunday lunch and thier sister pub it should be good.

Basic meat and four veg. The Sunday Roast was lacking in a few areas. No crackling on a pork roast, even request it twice. Apparently the chef didn't have any. 🙄 No rush to go back.

Good staffing glassware needs some attention

First time here…..Didn’t have the chicken burger we wanted then when asked could change to Halloumi burger with same sides was told couldn’t!! Had chicken salad which was well over priced for a wing of chicken and some rocket salad…..missing the nuts, seeds and tomato, chips were horrible as clearly been reheated in microwave. Got the chips changed which was fair enough. After paying for the original chicken burgers which we didn’t get already paid before staff member said haven’t got…..overall was only £1 more for the salad, wasn’t asked did want it back…wasn’t bothered about the money but principle…….service was shocking didn’t have a clue and clearly didn’t want to be there, staff attitude was really unprofessional. First time here and wouldn’t recommend and won’t be coming back in a hurry!! Over priced rubbished, a shame the atmosphere is really good!

Went for the football but the food was really really poor. I hate to critise but from the burger to the fries that you had to order separately, with clumpy gravy on top. Not a great experience :(

Great place. Service excellent. Friendly and food superb. Very pleased and would recommend in a flash. Although pub food, was definitely of a high standard.

Would like to say a big thank you to you and all your staff for making our birthday meal for 19 a really good experience. It's the first time I have ever been out with a big group and been happy with how the evening turned out. The service was excellent the time wait was very good the food was very good and served hot all at the same time I was very impressed as that would not be easy with all the different meals. The only fault was that the pies were not home made and £17 for a basic pie was very expensive. The drinks were kept toped up the whole time I would definitely go again and recommend to all. Over all 19 meals and drinks for just under £500 was excellent. So well done staff and landlord of this pub. Thank you

Quick visit to daughter who is graduating this year. Previous trips, back and forth, have been a stop at McD's on tge A453, but I now feel I have missed out. This pub is very pleasant and the food generally reasonable. Disappointed the 'special board' baguette not available (we were there a little after 12, so not good planning by the pub). Unfortunately ordered 'the' special bonbon (think it was beef, but writing after several weeks), which was quite tasty but rather pathetic, noting the price wasn't huge. The other half's starter, I think baked camonbert, looked much more satisfying. Pie for main, which was tasty. All in all, not bad value, but I would avoid specials ... even if they are available. I would go again, but daughter coming home in a few weeks.

Firstly, I am vegan and also have a dairy allergy. We phoned in advance to check there were vegan options and were assured that there were plenty. On arrival I was told I could have a chicken salad, minus the chicken, the prawn tomato pasta, minus the prawns or the vegetable katsu curry. I asked about the pizzas they advertised and was told they had no vegan cheese. I have absolutely no issue with restaurants not offering vegan options as I don't feel I'm automatically entitled, it being a dietary choice, but we specifically called ahead to check. Also, the 2 dishes that just had the meat/fish removed, I was still expected to pay full price for. I ended up with the focaccia starter, just so I had something to eat, and they put a pack of dairy butter on the plate, despite me asking for the vegan option. Secondly, the service was horrendously slow. I totally understand they were busy but the wait for food was simply unacceptable. The only time that there was any rush was when they were bringing the bill and waiting for us to pay, they couldn't have been faster doing that. Thirdly, the toilets were absolutely disgusting. Clearly not being cleaned regularly. Finally, as we were leaving, someone had vomited in the main doorway to the pub. I understand this could have just happened but we had been stood at the bar a few minutes and didn't see it so clearly it had been there more than that. And to top it all off, it wasn't a cheap place to eat but I feel we would have been better at Wetherspoons. Would not recommend to anyone, avoid like the plague!

Fish and chips really top notch, some of the ale was past its best though.

Superbly prepared food, unique menu, all at a price. Normally too much money for me but occasionally you have to splash out for quality. This is one of those times and I enjoyed every mouthful. Thanks again.

Went for lunch on Saturday. We had 2 sharing platters between 3 of us. Very nice and tasty, followed by puddings of sticky toffee, and a huge Eton mess. The young serving staff were very polite, efficient and smart. Hope to go again sometime soon. Nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nicer.

Went for a birthday and we were first seated without enough space or chairs, and no menus brought to our table only to be told there is no table service despite it being a very expensive pub. We were told half priced cocktails were £7.50, so £15 usually which is ridiculous for a Nottingham pub. The service was very slow, and took a long time between courses. My friend has a fish allergy (not severe) and we were not asked of allergies before ordering, however she ordered the steak burger with mash instead of chips (in case the chips were fried with the fish) and ended up throwing up. They must either fry the steak burgers in the same oil as the fish ( which doesn’t make sense as they surely don’t deep fry a burger ) or their cleanliness is minimal and there is severe cross contamination. Would not recommend for the price whatsoever, spending at least £20 on a meal should mean much better service and cleanliness.

Took my mum and family here for her 75th birthday - glad I did as the food was excellent and the staff were very helpful with providing ramps for her mobility issues. They were kind enough to let us bring our own birthday cake in. Food prices are higher than other pubs in the area - but it's well worth it, it's top quality. Overall great food and great experience - everyone was happy. Will absolutely return and highly recommend.

We came in on Monday and had the worst meal we've had in a long time. £17 for a steak & ale pie where the pastry tasted like cardboard and there was so much gristle and fat inside, it was just horrible. As for the ale, it must have evaporated. It was supposed to come with creamy mash, but appeared with a few chips and some cabbage. When we explained to the waitress that I cannot eat chips for medical reasons she said there was no mash available and returned with some crushed new potatoes and chopped spring onions. To be honest that was the best part of the meal but it was virtually cold by then. I really object to paying £17 for a meal that probably cost less than £2 to produce, made with no love whatsoever, just lazily slapped on a plate. So disappointed. Your chef needs sacking! We won’t be returning…

Amazing venue and staff are so welcoming

Have to say been going to the wollaton well over 15 years and loved it. But the last few times me and the wife have popped in for a drink the pub has lost its once had feel, and now your met with staff who look like there on the verge of a breakdown and im guessing the tall chap is the new manager? Have to say the wife and me find him very obnoxious and rude. Dont find him aproachable at all and each time he has served us for drinks, slams them on the bar. Always takes one person the ruin a good place!

Three of us had the pork belly needed at least another hour in an oven not very pleasent tough, cold and certainly not crispy....give it a miss

Dropped in for some food and pints. The main courses were lovely with some of the nicest battered fish I've had anywhere. The sticky toffee pud was excellent. The crumble was the only disappointment. The apples used in it seemed to be a bit bland

Lovely pub with really nice fresh breakfast. Dog friendly.

Got a table at last minute and great service and food. Lovely outdoor seating after.
