Was a little dubious when we walked in and heard a member of staff say ‘ we didn’t have any complaints yesterday’ as if it were surprising. Hardly anyone in the pub but still waited around 35/40 min for food. The mixed grill was pretty much burnt other than the steak, the sausages looked as though they had a trip through bramcote crematorium before my plate. I can honestly say the food at Wetherspoons was better than here so disappointed after recommendations to go here. Money wasted. Genuinely gutted.

Worst place in Nottingham, worst service I have ever experienced, the food and drinks were not good. Will not be returning and I strongly advise anyone against going there. In addition I popped in for a drink and got fined for using their parking for 15 mins, outright outrageous.

A group of 5 went for dinner and to enjoy the quiz.Fab night, staff friendly and attentive. Great fun night !!!

The food was lovely, they made a mistake on one of our orders but immediately replaced the meal with anything from the menu. The atmosphere was lovely, just families eating so no loudness from the bar

Brought my mum for her 79th birthday and my Aunt. We had a lovely lunch, served by Cyrus who was friendly and very helpful. They both had sea bass, I had lasagne. We all cleared our plates! Food was perfect. I'm told the chefs were Zoe and Mike. Would have given 5 stars but the toilets weren't as clean as they should have been.

Great food as always. We had the Sausage and Mash, Scampi and a Braised Beef and couldn't fault any of it. Eton Mess and Crumble were equally as good. Great service with friendly staff. Highly recommend

Absolutely fantastic place, the staff are lovely and very friendly. The place is dog friendly as well, the food is okay it's like I always say it depends on what you like but I've never had a bad meal there and I've been going for a few years now.

The Hemlock Stone Pub certainly offers a setting that promises an enjoyable dining experience, but unfortunately, my recent visit fell short of expectations due to issues with food service and quality. The wait time for our meal was excessively long, over an hour, even though the pub was not particularly busy. When our food finally arrived, it was incorrect and underwhelming. We had ordered a traditional roast dinner but received a dish laden with casserole vegetables accompanied by anaemic chicken legs. The quality of the chicken did not meet the usual standards expected of a comforting roast. The children's meal was also disappointing. The fish fingers were overcooked to the point of being hazardous, posing a risk to dental safety. Such a basic dish should be foolproof in any kitchen, and this was a surprising letdown. Due to the combined issues of the long wait and poor food quality, we asked for a full refund, which the pub processed without issue. We left the meals largely untouched and opted for a more reliable meal option elsewhere. In conclusion, while the Hemlock Stone Pub might have the potential to be a great local spot, my experience was significantly dampened by the service and food quality. Improvements in these areas could potentially make it a much more enjoyable place to dine.

Since doing my first review I have chosen to write more as I do indeed think this place is fantastic, the food is truly delicious, staff are so helpful and polite, nothing is too much trouble at all. I now have business meetings here too and the people I bring really enjoy everything about the place. Well done to Zoe and her team for being very accommodating and professional. Will be back again soon

My first visit here. It was empty in the restaurant - the bar area had a couple of visitors at best. Disappointing. My meal (lasagne) was overcooked to the extent that it was burnt around the sides. There was hardly any meat in the sauce - just sauce and burnt sauce around the edges. Salad very poor indeed - a little bit of sad looking lettuce and not much else. The garlic bread was very overdone too and barely edible. Could have returned the meal but it would have meant my meal was out of cinque with the rest of my party. Sister in law’s macaroni cheese was equally overcooked. The portions were very small and rather mean except for fish and chips or gammon neither of which I wanted. They cannot blame being busy on the poor state of the food so I can only conclude it was a distinct lack of care. I wish I could find something positive to say about the meal - oh yes the pudding was nice, but it didn't need cooking just serving up! The pub itself had seen better days - it looked rundown and distinctly unloved, especially from the outside. Ember Inns are usually good with great food, we enjoyed a fabulous meal in another Ember Inn across the city last February but The Hemlock Stone falls short by quite a way. Such a shame.

Tragic family visit for a Sunday roast. Got told that kitchen opens in 30 minutes. 15 minutes later that it opens in 45 from now. Then was told that they don't know when the chefs will be back from break, so whenever they come back they're back.

The service was good and the food was mainly good.

Online ordering is slow and easy to miss something with large groups, struggled to chew the cabbage! Ordered the cake and coffee and got no coffee, more gravy please, service was excellent, food all on time, all food cooked well and very good

What a cracking pub! I've driven past this place for many years and always thought about visiting. Having now done so, I wish I'd done it sooner! Great food, well presented, tasted great, and plentiful portions. Price and service were equally were also excellent.

It was easy to book online, and I appreciated the space to make special requests. I used this to ask for a table suitable for someone with mobility issues. When we arrived, we had been provided with a table where we didn't have to encounter any steps, and we were close by to the disabled toilet facilities if needed. We had a table near a lovely roaring open fire. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The Sunday lunch set menu was a really good deal, with most of us taking advantage of the 3 course meal. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We are really pleased to have found this great pub/restaurant close to where our in-laws live. We will definitely return again when up visiting in the future.

Leigham was really helpful in helping is navigate menu choices for our coeliac daughter. Thanks to the kitchen staff who made sure she was safe. Food was good, enjoyed by all. Jaz was lovely and took care of our table, even whipping up an extra desert last minute, we had forgotten to order. Thank you

Visited this place last week but didn't enjoy the food was cold there was three of us all ordered at the same time two meals came out and was eaten had to go to the bar to find out where the third meal was took another 5 mins to come out then it was cold we all sat in our over coats to eat as it was so cold and there was only one toilet and that was the disable one, but as all the others was out of order not good enough . So from now on we will stisk to the nursery man for our catch up dates.

Had a meal last night for the first time at the Hemlock Stone pub. The starters were lovely then I ordered a steak I went for the sirloin steak, thinking it would be better than the rump When I started eating it, I commented to a member of staff, how tough and chewy it was hard to cut She suggested that they cooked it a little longer for me, as this will make it more tender as I had it medium rare It did not make any difference and was still very tough and just as pink, so to me, they hadn’t done anything to it at all as the fat hadn’t even crisp up I then spoke to the manager about it at first, wasn’t going to do anything then decided to give me a refund of £10 which covered our drinks I don’t get out very often and a sirloin steak was a treat to myself and it absolutely ruined the night as I did not enjoy my meal at all plus while they were supposedly cooking my steak a little longer Chips and peas were cold The service from the waitress, and the manager I felt was atrocious and uncaring Considering I have spent nearly £50 Hence, I will not be going back there ever again And I will be telling everyone, I know not to go there either If the manager had been more apologetic and wanted to rectify my bad experience, I wouldn’t Be as condemning as I feel Like being I am an excellent cook myself, so I know and can tell if they did cook my steak a little longer, but I could tell the definite they hadn’t And it was a FFFF, having to record your cars Registration number

We have now stopped going to this pub. For several months now the building has not been warm. Either the heating is turned too low or is off. For a few weeks there has been some domestic fan heaters on the floor. These are totally inadequate (and often switched off). Maybe for some it may be warm enough but 19-20 degrees in a drafty pub just doesn't cut it. Others have said similar so it isn't me being wimpy. Maybe in the summer, but for now it's back to the rodders...

We had a bit of a mixed experience here. The pub itself was nice inside, however it felt quite cool where we were sat. The three of us had food. My beef burger was fine but my son didn't rate his chicken burger. My wife certainly didn't like her steak. She said it was too grizzly and did she complain? No 🙄 The staff were friendly. They do allow dogs into one side of the pub which immediately put me off. I just don't think that dogs should be allowed into places where you eat and drink.

This place has very friendly staff and their food was amazing. This place also has a nice environment and a good place to bring kids.

Experience discounts at this charming restaurant during evening hours. I opted for my steak to be cooked medium rare, aiming for a 30% pink center. Regrettably, it arrived slightly overcooked, closer to 60%. It exhibited a tough, excessively dry texture, hinting at potentially prolonged cooking at high temperatures without rest, resulting in the loss of the desired juicy texture. The iced latte is very nice and smooth. The waffles also excellence.

Great food and service. Leigham looked after us as always and he greets you with a smile every time. I would highly recommend the Hemlockstone.

Ordered from Sunday menu at 5.30pm. Beef rib inedible , food cold veg disgusting, items missing from menu, no horseradish sauce , fire door to kitchen propped open so staff music blaring. Staff unwelcoming and inattentive...only bonus got full refund. Will never eat there again and we live locally.

Took my daughter for lunch after a walk around Wollaton park; she’s a final year student in the city and is really struggling … Sunday roast out usually makes all the difference. Today it didn’t. Nice pub, clean and bright, managed to make a booking online … but we were kept waiting … and waiting … and waiting on our arrival, completely ignored by all the bar staff. Eventually we were acknowledged and directed to a table where we ordered roast gammon and a beef rib roast; the gammon was fine but the meat … well, what meat? Almost all fat and gristle and bone … thankfully we had our dog with us and she enjoyed the “meat”. The veggies were almost raw and inedible and the beef gravy tasted burnt … how is that even possible? Didn’t stay for pudding. I hope this was an aberration, but as my daughter, who also works in hospitality, being kept waiting without even an acknowledgment, is unacceptable. No one came to ask how the food was, and the separate bowl containing cauliflower cheese was delivered on the side of the plate of gammon and the deposited on the table. Disappointing meal, nice surroundings.

We had to wait to find our booked table as no one was around.The place was cold.We were served by a friendly person. The food came within a reasonable time, peas, tomato and mushroom was cold but chicken was hot.Scampi hot ,again peas cold.Pot of tea was ok but went cold very quickly.

We booked a table for 8 people on Thursday 21dec when we arrived we were shown to our table to find only 7 seats we did manage to find a extra chair and moved the tables around ourselves.we all ordered our food together but when the starters came only 2 came out and 1 of them was wrong tomato soup was ordered but they sent vegetable when the other starters arrived the chicken wings came with sauce on them but were ordered without. We all finished our starters the nachos were pretty good. Next the staff bought out the mains before they had even cleared the table from the starters.when the mains came there was asparagus missing from the chicken dish and also no bread and butter that had been ordered with the fish and chips.at no point in the entire meal was there a table check by any of the staff. All the problems we had we needed to get there attention and the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. Finally we had to wait around 30 minutes for the 2 children’s desserts. All in all average food (which to be honest we expected) and less than average service.

Staff and atmosphere were friendly and welcoming. Staff had sense of humour which was good. Tasty steak, chips weren't very hot though. We were seated in the very pretty window, table 99. The windows were draughty, as it's winter, maybe a secondary glaze might be helpful. Nice food, nice visit.

Had a book club night out for Christmas Dinner. All 3 courses were delicious, very generous portions and the service was spot on. Leigham and Hev were excellent hosts making sure we were well catered for and checked regularly that everything was to our liking....

We've always gone to the Green King, Holly Tree Farm in the past. But that place has gone down hill, due to staff shortages. So, we decided to give the Hemlock Stone a try, as we've never been in before. My impressions listed below. The young lady serving best described by saying person of colour- She was polite/well mannered. The other staff we pleasant enough. We had the Posh Fish & Chips, which was lovely. The building needs some investment, especially the chairs, which are threadbare! Overall, a positive experience, and we look forward to returning.
