Excellent food and very good service. Staff were all very nice and helpful. We need to treat ourselves to this more often!

Came here new years eve afternoon as a walk in, service and food good as always, I personally can never resist the starter of crispy beef salad, also the main of the fish pie which is scrummy (note to management never remove this from the menu please) my wife had spicy prawns (starter) and the blade of beef for the mains which she reported was very tender and melted in her mouth, as stated service excellent as always - with thanks to all involved.

This place was amazing, the building was sympathetically restored and very pretty Christmas decorations. I had the Trio of seafood dish which was beautifully presented and exquisitely seasoned, my son had the lamb cutlets and pie dish and my daughter had the fish. All were presented well and they all tasted delicious. There were Yuma and ahh sounding whilst we ate. It was a remarkable meal.

Stunning restaurant. 3 sunday menus to choose from. Loads of choice. Great atmosphere. Not cheap but quality. Every quirky inside with different rooms for dining. Lovely looking grounds but was wet so didn't venture out. Highly recommended

We had our Work Christmas mela here and the salmon was amazing. Fantastic atmosphere too.

The food was off the Christmas menu. My wife had the Turkey. l had the beef we had garlic mushroom start, all very tasty. The meats were cooked to perfection.

In Roman times the God Bacchus was known for wine, food, fertility and revelry. And if you always thought these were myths then think again because two thousand years later these Bacchanalian pursuits of pleasure are alive and well at The Winery Burton. Last night at the Winery Julius Caesar himself would have felt quite at home in a veritable palace full of feasts, music and people having a marvellous time. Maybe the fertility comes later! But what makes it so attractive you may ask? Well firstly, the place is beautiful, warm and a very comfortable place to be in with well trained attentive staff. Secondly, indulge yourself in a well-balanced menu,fairly priced wines and affordable bill. What more could anyone want? Make a reservation soon!

Beautiful place, very atmospheric with it being such an old Abbey. Was in a private room for a 50th birthday gathering. Decorated really tastefully for Christmas 🎄

We had a beautiful Sunday lunch today. We were a table of 12 who pre-ordered. Every dish came out as ordered, the roast was absolutely delicious, very tasty and nice and hot. Desserts were great too. The service was fab and an enjoyable lunch was had by all. We couldn’t fault it.

Celebrating our daughter in laws graduation. Given a teeny table with two large gents in our party not good start. Espresso martini was undrinkable and that’s not a difficult cocktail to make! Trio of seafood is just badly overcooked fish with wet skin, served on an inedible slimy stodge of potato's absolutely vile couldn’t eat it. Dessert of charged pineapple that thin you could see through it, smores dessert is a shop bought waffle! This was the worse meal we’ve had in years, this chef and menu has never been Al a Carte, you couldn’t even call it decent pub grub! Was ill on our 2hr return journey home. I was a frequent visitor during The Winery’s hey day, whilst it’s still a beautiful place with nice staff… it’s a very long way from where it was and you’d get better food at your local pub.. don’t waste your money. The current owners are obviously living on the past reputation and of the beauty of the place because the food is definitely miles away from even being good never mind of a quality worth eating. Cheap looking website, poor cocktails, horrendous food and nasty wooden sheds (yes sheds! in such a stunning location blocking any views even at night wasn’t great … just crass) I loved The Winery in its hey day, especially the food, it made Burton a place to visit but sadly now it’s a disgrace to its past.

Absolutely amazing lunch at the Winery! We visited 3 Nov for an early anniversary lunch. We both got the Sunday carvery (me turkey/hubby beef) and it was the best either of us had ever had. Service was wonderful as well. We've been several times and have never been disappointed. Well done to all!

Found this little gem of a place by looking on goggle . The service was 1st class as was the food and the venue is very smart but in no way overly expensive and when we play BAFC we will definitely call there again .

We have to been to the Winery before and always been very pleased so we chose them as our restaurant of choice to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary worse choice ever !!!! the food was terrible the red snapper as tough and over cooked the replacement steak I asked for medium rare was medium well and had this strange flavour to it ….will never go again….what a disaster

Based in an 11th century abbey this restaurant offers good quality, reasonably priced food. The menu is broad enough to cater for most tastes and the portion sizes are good. Pre dinner drinks are well catered for thanks to the well stocked bar

We visited on a busy Saturday evening. The service was perfect, our orders were taken quickly and drinks and food arrived in no time ! Staff were all friendly and polite. The food was delicious and we couldn’t fault a single thing!

It's probably the best place to eat in Burton, the food was amazing and good company, what more do you want.

Poor. Premium prices, poor experience.

Very disappointing. Had issues and raised with staff who then basically ignored them. Ended up waiting ages for bill and then just paid and left. Won't be going back. Premium prices but sub par expirence.

Not been here for a long time! Have to say we were very impressed with the food! The standard and quality of meat was really good for all mains ordered! All plates were cleared! Sharing tear and share garlic bread starter was delicious! A really tasty plate! Impressed! Thank you for a lovely dining experience !🥰

Good service all round. The shared starter was great. The chicken parfait was excellent. I had a simple rotisserie chicken. Possibly the best I’ve ever had. Tender and juicy all the way through. Thi was great cooking. We were there as 2 couples and everyone agreed the food was first class. We had guiness and blue moon beers both very nice. We also had a bottle of Gavi from the premium wine list and at just under £30 represented really good value. The staff were also good, young but they knew their stuff. All in all a cracking night out.

Delicious food and a very good choice on the menu. We booked for a colleague's leaving dinner, but sadly they put on three separate tables, whilst a big table (that could have accommodated all of us together) sat empty! We seemed to have long periods without seeing any staff, after serving courses and we had to ask for water jugs and drinks etc to be refilled. Recommended, but staff training could improve customer satisfaction.

The Winery is truly amazing, food and service was excellent. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If I lived closer I’d frequent it more often. First class from start to finish.

This is the first restaurant I've been to since Covid that feels like restaurants did before covid. The staff are attentive and polite, the food is so good and there was a real atmosphere. I'm sorry to say I haven't been to the Winery in over 4 years, and I really shouldn't have left it so long. 5 stars easily.

Delicious food. Parsnip soup, confit of duck and roast turkey. The Father's Day music was glaring and bounced of the arched roof. We requested three times for the volume to be reduced to then request that we be moved to a quieter place.

Went for a meal here for my parents wedding anniversary. Haven't been to a restaurant for a while that I've been genuinely impressed by. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Staff fantastic & service was fast. Big open area at the back where our 2 kids could run off a bit of steam in-between courses. Also being a non drinker was great having loads of non alcoholic choice at the bar- lovely mocktails & big cans of Guinness 0.

Fantastic food and service ! Especially Oliver our waiter lovely young man very friendly and helpful. Also the wine specialist another helpful young man! Food was gorgeous and good value!

Called ‘The Winery’ but girl behind bar knew nothing about the wines. Asked price of Prosecco as no price lists available for wines, was offered black bottle or pink (her words). Asked what nice Sauvignon, preferably Marlborough they had, she looked at me gone out (The Winery lol), then offered a bottle which was French!! They obviously enjoyed making the cocktails, which did look very colourful but know nothing about the wines.

My hubby and I had a meal tonight at the Winery for my birthday. Food was delicious ( especially the lamb) and service from Jessica and Lewis was brilliant. What a great venue!

Beautiful building but...... Had lunch with friends and was my first visit to The Winery and will be my last. Ordered the Crispy goats cheese salad with caramelised walnuts and maple syrup. It looked relatively appetising when it arrived, but quickly realised there were no walnuts. The plentiful dressing on the salad was very sweet so guessed that included maple syrup? Asked where my walnuts were to be told they didn't have any.... so I asked for a substitute or at least another small piece of goats cheese.... This was nearly £15 for lots of limp, sweetened salad leaves and 3 small pieces of goats cheese, so didn't think I was asking for the earth. Was told I couldn't the goats cheese, but I could have pine nuts..... I stupidly didn't taste these before I sprinkled most of them on my meal. They were rancid and very stalle, now completely ruining my lunch. I told the waiting staff who asked if it was OK this and they just retrieved the dish with remaining pine nuts. A couple of minutes later, another person arrived with a small portion of the elusive caramelised walnuts and said the chef hadn't looked hard enough earlier and had now found them.... Not to mention that my lunch was already ruined with rancid pine nuts! I was with friends who I hadn't seen for ages and didn't want any more shaningans to ruin our lunch get together, but figured I would at least be offered a complimentary coffee or something deducted for a farcical lunch, but alas this wasn't to be. I have been in this kind of business for years and know how hard it is, but this wasn't dealt with very well and if I'm in Burton again I would definitely avoid returning here.

We had a table of eight and the service was superb. Adding to that everyone’s food was delicious and timed perfectly. Really nice new menu and worth a visit.

Really enjoyed our time here, went for our granddaughters 18th birthday. Food really good and staff really accommodating.

Can’t fault it, friendly, efficient, we all said the food was delicious. Only pain is if you’re in a booth, the staff can’t see you. But hey! Pop your head up above the parapet & they come straight over. I’d love it if this place was local to me.

Hadn’t been for a number of years, but was very impressed, will be back for sure. The 3 course set menu on a Friday night is ridiculous value.

I’ve always have great food at the Winery but I went tonight with friends and I was really disappointed with the quality of the food. I had the mushrooms to start, they were very small and there was hardly any, which were extremely average. I had the pie for main which was tiny, had hardly any filling and the gravy was lumpy. My rice pudding wasn’t good either and after one spoonful I left it. All in all I’m not sure if this has been taken over but unfortunately I won’t be going back.

First time here and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Will go back.

On our visit today we sampled the food which was delicious followed by 2 of their amazing cocktail one was the dead man’s punch carefully made by Jacob . And Demi just made us a La Vie En Rose cocktail ( very nice)

Claiming to be halal when asked to swap the fish pie for the beef pie!

We were enquiring about halal dishes as we requested to swap the beef pie for the fish pie on the set menu. The waitress told us the chef said they were halal however when I asked about the certification there wasn’t one!!! I feel the staff provided us with inaccurate information. We were also being rushed and had one abrupt lady who I’m thinking was the manager asking if we had ordered or not! The service was not great!

From the outside it looks very impressive, as you walk in you see the bar area which also looks very inviting that's where the good first impressions end. The restaurant has an odd feel with a combination of booths and open tables. One of my pet hates was no table cloth and paper napkins. The menu was quite varied with a specials page. However a number of things had "sold out", not great for 7pm on Saturday night. Service was attentive and food arrived quickly. Food was better than average but not outstanding. Overall my wife said it was posh restaurant combined with "hungry horse" . Ironically we may return just to check our confusion!

Went for valentines night, set menu, lots of choices at a very reasonable price. Food was fantastic, great service, highly recommend this please. Beautiful building.

Went with my brother and sister in law for his 60th. Had a shed in the garden. Maon building was lovely inside and out. Food was ok thought nothing special. Shed door kept opening and they provided blankets for your knees etc. Although heated was still freezing. Overall experience was OK. 😏

7’45 no food available probably because the staff were enjoying their own karaoke session as they had no customers probably better just closing on Monday nights looks a really nice place for a meal

We've been a few times recently, it goes without saying it is an amazing venue, couple that with great service and superb value for money and its a big win all round.

We were celebrating my sister in law's 60th birthday. We all were impressed by the quality of the food. We had a great time! Can't impress just how good the experience was. Highly recommended. 5 stars is not enough!!

The ambience was fantastic. A lovely clean, modern venue in a beautiful old building. Excellent quality of food and drinks. The duck salad was plentiful and not greasy and the chicken stack was of good quality and great variety of chicken cooked in different ways. The cocktails were lovely and again only quality ingredients used. The staff were attentive and happy to ask if they didn't know.

Lovely location, visited as a group birthday celebration. Have been previously a few years ago and not had good experience. (I believe that this may have been under different ownership). Regrettably this was not dissimilar. I had three courses Pork Belly, Pan Fried Duck and Sticky Toffee Pudding. They were ok in their own right, reasonably tasty. However, apart from the tepid pork belly, they were all cold. Had I not been in a group celebration, these would have been sent back, however I didn’t wish to raise this as I didn’t want to upset the organiser. Needless to say, I wouldn’t be rushing back as an individual. There were a few groups there that evening, I guess my experience could have been replicated. I know on my table, heat of the food was an issue with a few, the exception being those that ordered the fish pie, which was nuclear hot! I have rated as average, ambiance is ok, socially had a good time, food tasted ok but impacted by its temperature.

We visited the Winery for Christmas lunch, after reading the recent reviews were a little unsure what to expect. We needn’t have worried as we couldn’t fault our experience. All of the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful couldn’t fault anyone. The food was absolutely delicious, wonderful filet of beef cooked to perfection. In fact all courses were excellent. We had a wonderful relaxing Christmas lunch and can’t wait to return to sample the evening menu. So thanks so much to the Winery and all of your staff.

Service the worst we have encountered. We ate lunch which was passable but not great. My friend and I were returning from the ladies when a waitress asked us if we had paid. When we replied yes we had , she said she would check. I went to the bar and reported the incident to the barman who replied that, it was normal practice. His attitude was rude and arrogant and he implied that it was the waitresses lack of propriety was her poor English. I have never encountered such rudeness and disrespect. I will never return to this restaurant, and have never before experienced such disrespect. Unless the management intervenes there will be no customers to insult.

Beautiful building wasted on unqualified, incompetent chefs and a girl playing manager after mummy and daddy put her in charge!!! Staff made to feel useless and worthless by head chef called Tom who I can only assume got the job due to his girlfriend being the manager!! He belittles and bullies staff to the point that they leave due depression!! Yet his food is nothing to write home about infact I would argue that the areas chain pubs would produce better quality food. The winery used to be a brilliant restaurant.... then it went down hill fast from May 2019 and while the current staff are there will continue to do so... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Went for a meal here with friends last night. When we arrived the person behind the bar told us she was busy making cocktails but would be over when she had finished. The food was excellent- tasty, hot and well presented however the service left a lot to be desired. I didn’t see the staff smile once. They were not friendly at all and were clearly just ‘doing a job’, not something they enjoyed. The atmosphere was not brilliant as a consequence of their attitude. I will not be returning any time soon.

Wow! From the minute we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat, from the warm welcome to the absolutely beautiful decorations. We opted for a cocktail (or two) in the bar before hand! Hands of my biscoff... DELISH! Once seated the friendly waitress soon gave us menus and we opted for the christmas fayre. The pork bon bons and turkey... so MOIST, an that's so hard to do these days. The show stopped being the chocolate orange cheesecake, the only negative being it wasn't a big enough portion. Our whole visit was great and we have rebooked again for next week.

Avoid like the plague. 2 years ago it was a pleasant dining experience not now. Prices high, service low, attitude even lower. If I was invited to dine here again I would politely decline as I've had better service at fast food restaurants. The attitude displayed means they will not be getting money from my wallet.

Our pre booked starters came to us before we had all sat down and one of the plates was actually thrown across the table! Due to one of our party arriving late, who had travelled a distance, The mains came out when this individual hadn’t finished the starter. We had already spoke with the ‘manager’ to say we all wanted to eat together. When we said to the server we weren’t ready she shouted at us ‘no you eat now’. We refused to take the meals until the starter had been eaten and then noticed all the mains were placed in the hallway. We were then told we either eat them cold or wait for a later sitting ( a 2 hour wait). Absolutely shocking and disgusting behaviour. We left and were threatened by the staff that they would get the police. So we went around the corner to wing wah where the service was impeccable.

We came in tonight for a birthday meal for my partner with our 2 daughters. Thank you so so much to all of the wonderful staff and ESPECIALLY to Grae! We were absolutely amazed with the level of customer service that was provided to us and the food quality was totally out of this world 😍 We had booked the Bollinger Chalet and couldn’t believe how wonderful it was, absolutely beautiful and so intimate! Thank you again, we will be sure to come back sometime x

The lunchtime special is amazing value - three courses for only 15.00. I'm on their mailing list otherwise it's not well advertised. Usually available throughout November up til 4pm. 15.00 is about the same price as a Big Mac Meal ! What's not to love? I enjoyed breaded prawns to start, pork loin as main and lemon posset for dessert. Delicious. We were a party of four and all the dishes were excellent. Service was great; our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. We have booked again to return before the end of the month. Can't wait

Had an exceptionally good meal yesterday at The Winery, everything was perfect from starter, main and dessert. The value for money with the 2/3 course set lunch menu is outstanding. Server was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for her. Unfortunately I didn't get her name. Would highly recommend the lunch time special.

Went with friends, I had the chicken and mushroom pie, not overly impressed it was too stodgy and the chips must have been left to long in the pan as they were overcooked. Wife had the pork and it was dry and it was hunt the veg as you didn't get much. Other than that the starters were really nice. I had the prawns and my wife had the soup. Would I go again, don't think so.

At one time this was a great place to eat and enjoy a relaxed drink. Unfortunately not so now. The staff were slow, difficult to find and lacked all insight into customer relations. At these prices it’s reasonable to expect better. We decided to forget the meal and left.

Piękna restauracja, wspania wygląda tak na zewnątrz jak i we wnątrz. Jedzenie bardzo dobre, podano gorące więc w trakcie konsumpcji było ciągle ciepłe. Frytki podane do hamburgera to były najlepsze, najsmaczniejsze ze wszystkich, jakie jadłam podczas ostatniego pobytu w UK. Każdy z nas miał inne danie i każdy był ze swojego zadowolony. Porcje były wystarczające, ceny ok. Pod tym względem szczerze polecam to miejsce. Mimo, że lokal sprawia bardzo dobre wrażenie odjęłam gwiazdkę za zbyt głośną i męczącą muzykę. Nie przyciszono jej a na moją uwagę kelnerka tylko zaproponowała zmianę stolika. Nic to nie dało, bo głośników było dużo i wszędzie było równie głośno. Pobyt w lokalu ma być przyjemnością. W naszym przypadku musieliśmy przekrzykiwać muzykę żeby porozmawiać. Obsługa miła i uprzejma. Dziwne, że w takim eleganckim lokalu chodzą w prywatnych ubraniach.

We came here on a whim and were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Tremendous food, great service in a lovely building

Great atmosphere, really good service, food tasted amazing. They had a separate vegetarian and vegan menu, with plenty of dishes to choose from, all courses. The vegan Mushroom Wellington and Soup of the house tasted great! They also had a vegan drinks menu, which is quite nice. Prices could be a bit higher than most places.

Went with friends for a friends birthday service was terrible !!! food was good atmosphere was nice,surroundings beautiful staff mislaid the cake and then there was a mix up with the bill which ruined the evening. Staff should serve with a smile and warmth in my experience of hospitality. Please teach your staff and manager basic customer service manners as they come across quite rude !!

Beautiful setting and building. Would be good to see a selection of the locally brewed and excellent real ale to match their wonderful wines. Burton is, after all, the brewing capital of the country. A great draw for many to the area. Just a thought, even though you're usp is 🍷

Delicious food, stunning place. Great for a special occasion

What a cracking place. We arrived a little late to our reservation as our meeting over ran. This was not a problem, and the staff were more than accommodating. We even had time for a quick drink in the bar before heading through to the restaurant. We were seated in a booth, a little tight for a slightly well built chap like myself, but I made do. I still had room for dessert, but I've skipped ahead. The food was delicious. Winery slab to share, chicken liver parfait was out of this world, I could have had another 4 portions. The mains were duck breast, vegetable noodles and seaweed, better than I've ever had from a Chinese takeaway. The waffle for dessert. I have no words. Well worth the tight squeeze into the booth table. The staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and polite. The right amount of attention without being in your face. A huge thumbs up from us, and we cannot wait to return, an excuse to bring our work Christmas party here. Thank you Winery, keep up the great work

Came to The Winery hoping for a lovely meal with amazing service. Unfortunately this is not what I got. The man at the bar (Jacob?) was rude and arrogant, many members of staff were talking about customers/ other staff members. Food was HORRIBLE and nearly...

It was ok at best. While the venue itself is beautiful, it felt that none of the staff really had a clue what was going on. Food was average and the wait times between courses were crazy (at least an hour) - I think 3 stars is pretty generous. Wouldn’t rush back as it’s effectively, an overpriced pub.

Awful experience. Jacob was rude, arrogant. Everything you don’t want when you visit a restaurant. Staff were rude and lazy and the meals weren’t that great either. Really lost it’s touch, won’t be returning. Avoid like the plague.

First time visit for us, celebrating my birthday at lunchtime. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, excellent food , superb service and a really nice atmosphere, it was quiet but welcomed that. I would recommend it in an instant, every dish ordered was excellent, beautifully cooked and good portion sizes too. We will definitely be returning.
