Lovely food and incredibly kind and polite staff. Me and my wife stayed for drinks afterwards and were taken care of very well by Anisa one of the staff members behind the bar. She was great at answering all our questions. and making it a great spot for date night!

Great pub, lovely staff, huge garlic bread!

Had a basic cheese burger here and it came burnt, £16 for rubbish food no salad, very very basic, no effort. Never going here again

This place takes the p*ss with its prices! £6.75 for a can on 0 alcohol Guinness is extortionate, when a couple of doors down it is prices at £4.50. And £7.25 for a pint of lager!! This isn't London you know.

Anisah was so kind and very conversational!! She noticed it was my birthday before I even had a chance to say anything. Very lovely sweet service and they don’t skimp on drinks:) Plus the whole place is very welcoming (even on a wednesday!)

This is a great local pub and tasty restaurant. A favourite for groups but also quieter tables. Fantastic atmosphere and been a favourite of mine for over 20 years. Love the sunny nock for people watching and a quiet drink.

This is a brilliant location to get together with friends and family! There are so many different areas and you can section off one of them if you want to have a private function including the little outdoor terrace. The staff were very polite and helpful and I have been to a lot of other bars which could learn something from the manners of the staff here. Massive respect to them. The only thing I would say as that we found the music to be very cheesy and not to the taste of anyone in our group and the venue got a little noisy at times with the post football crowd and then a table who were loudly and drunkenly singing along to the music but the venue is quite large so we managed to move ourselves to another more tucked away large table. We ate pizza there and it was great quality pizza although with not a lot of topping so I wouldn't make a beeline to go there for the food. It was ok as a pre-drink stomach liner. We were able to put the birthday cake we brought with us in the fridge in the kitchen which was great but when we came to cut the cake there were no plates or forks available because of a private function onsite which was a shame. However plastic boxes were kindly provided for us to box up the leftovers. It is unclear if it is possible to hire the venue in order to have a DJ there. They do have a disabled toilet. There is also craft beer available there. The bottle of presecco we had there was drinkable enough. I took the photos towards the back end of the evening when most people had gone. This venue is apparently expensive for the local area.

We have been here many times in the past for a nice relaxing drink before eating elsewhere. BUT no HSB on a bank holiday weekend! Had to make do with London Pride, a poor substitute. We settled in a nice window seat and had a good chat. A young couple came in with a very young baby probably no more than a month old who proceeded to scream the place down until it eventually settled down. A family came in with a dog that settled down nicely under the table. No problem. Then a woman came in with another dog that immediately went for the first dog. Lots of barking and yelping, Very disturbing. The woman said to the dog "Introduce yourself nicely". Words fail me. The dog then spent the next 30 minutes nearly pulling the woman's arms out of her sockets tying to get to the first dog until the woman realised she needed to go into the other bar. Too late! The atmosphere was ruined and we left. Pubs should not allow children or dogs through the doors!

Always lovely atmosphere and drinks. Bit more expensive than some places, but great quality and fast service.

Good pub for a beer with friends and colleagues

Good fullers pub, good location on albert road. Beer was fine, well kept, v enjoyable. First visit for nearly 30 years and was just as it always was. No finer recommendation.

Great pub, the bartender was amazing and friendly, touching on the history of the pub. Good selection of beer, even though it was quiet the atmosphere was brilliant.

I've known through place for many years. Although the prices are up there with the rest of the branded watering holes, the bees is good, and the food is good.

Good night but the beer prices are totally off the chart. Standard, low quailty larger a bargin at £15 for two pints. Don't get me started on the price of Guinness. Unless your minted I would suggest going to many of the other pubs in the area that don't feel like they have to profiteer off their customs. Seems like Fullers is just picking numbers out the air to see what they can get away with.

Nice, lively atmosphere on a Saturday night (20/04). However, the price of drinks was very expensive (£7+ a pint of beer and £11 for a large glass of red wine). I fully appreciate costs have gone up recently across the board, but there are far cheaper places down Albert Road.

Great pub and great atmosphere. It is an expensive pub is the only downside. Perhaps I just have expensive tastes saying that.

So glad we stopped in The Vaults for freshly baked Meat feast pizza, cocktails and wine,staff very friendly, accommodating and helpful, plenty of room to sit,small rooftop patio, we sat on top floor near pizza oven,lovely decor and relaxing.Great location for visiting Kings theatre.

Usually use this pub when we are seeing a show at the Kings across the road. Good for a pint or two. Never ordered food so can't say. Always busy so there doing something right.

Firstly ran out of wine glasses (this was 6.30pm) no real ale on pump, ran out of chips !! offered a garlic pizza with pizzas ordered ! Over 45mins wait, staff running round like headless chickens - felt like it was there 1st ever Saturday night! 😔

A nice pub in Southsea. The only downside is that the music is a bit too loud so be prepared to shout whilst you are talking to people lol

15/02/24. The Vaults has been our ' go to ' pub on our last 3 visits to the Kings Theatre, which for those reading this & aren't familiar with the area,are opposite each other.. We've always felt welcome on every visit & the cocktails ( French Old Fashioned & Mojito) we had on this visit ticked the boxes for quality, flavour & presentation 👍👍.. See you at our next theatre visit..😊😊

My wife and I took our pup out for a stroll on a Saturday afternoon and decided to pop in to the Vaults for a spot of lunch. We gingerly popped our heads around the corner of the entrance to ask the staff if it was a dog friendly establishment. The bar staff greeted us with a massive smile and directed us to the dedicated Doggy Bar - a small pop-up with complimentary treats, free to use water bowls, blankets and toys, and then invited us to sit where we liked. We found a cosy corner, ordered a drink and perused the impressive menu, and decided on one of their stone baked pizzas to share. Food was delicious, service was top notch and atmosphere perfect! Will happily visit again to sample more of the delicious menu.

Went for a beer and the door staff tried charging me £2 to get in. When I said I didn’t have any cash they just pointed to a cash machine. I have been going in here for years. When did the 30th December qualify for paid entry…no party going on as far as I can see. Just a way of the door staff trying to make money. Well Porters can have my hard earned cash instead! Update!…3 weeks on and no recognition from the establishment of my review. Speaks volumes!

Booked for a private party and the venue was perfect! A big shout out to Nichola who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly.. and it did!! Thank you again for all your hard work!

Heard live music playing so went in, loved the band, would have stayed for the second set but didn’t want to pay another £25 for a disgusting bottle of wine. Shame!

Never tried the food here but the Espresso Martini's are the best in Portsmouth. Great atmosphere, whether you're looking for a quiet drink in the cocktail bar or a party in the main bar.

We were welcomed by excellent staff and service was very good. Food was excellent and choice of drinks were great. Ellen the barmaid was amazing and even got my children involved with learning how to make a non alcoholic cocktail, showing them the steps and getting them involved. They had great fun and nothing was too much trouble. Ellen and the rest of the staff were fantastic and we will visit again.

Took a while to get served at the bar as there was only one person serving initially. Very expensive drinks: pint and a half of Peroni cost £10.45!! (Paid less in central London recently). For a nice bar and these prices, I’d expect the toilets to be a lot nicer. Good atmosphere though and nicely busy for Christmas Eve. Worth a visit.

Drinks are so expensive here We definitely won’t be back Update: We had a response from the Vaults stating that their prices are set by the brewery. We appreciate that this can be the case but we have been to Fullers pubs that are much cheaper than here. For information purposes- a rum and coke and a glass of wine was £16.50 and a double gin and tonic was just under £15.00. These are definitely not typical drinks prices in Portsmouth in 2023

One of the best craft beer pubs I've ever been to with my fiancé. We would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves craft. Has an great selection with extremely friendly staff. Gabriel was absolutely amazing and made the experience for us.

If you do one thing whilst you're in Southsea... go here! The staff are incredible, the food is glorious and there's so much choice for drinks. We were lucky enough to have our wedding reception here and it was the best day our lives. Every detail was thought about, they even bought in special dog friendly wine (yes they are dog friendly too). We are so thankful to the entire team for all they did to go above and beyond to make our brunch and reception truly wonderful!

My mates surprised me with the upstairs area booked out for my 30th. The space is really lovely and private and you get your own bar and barkeep. Our barkeep was Luke, and he made it. He was really accommodating, good fun and just on our level. He asked what music I wanted, I just gave him a few artists I like and he sorted me a playlist on the spot and it was perfect. Super knowledgeable guy. The whole staff in the building that day were great, other bar stuff were lovely and security were friendly. All round great experience.

This pub is one of the best ones in Southsea and have been several times. This time the place was heaving with a wedding upstairs and the rugby on. We visited before and after a gig and were served by Mya every time. Mya impressed us with her efficiency, friendliness and willingness to cater for my fussy gin requests. On our return, 2 1/2 hours later she had remembered our round and then, later when the super efficient bouncers and security were enthusiastically trying to get us to leave (the way they attempted to rush us out was our only negative experience), she allowed us to remain at the bar to finish our drinks and pop to the toilets.

So we have been to The Vaults many times over the years and as a Fullers Pub you expect a decent level of service. We booked a table in advance for a family of 4 and checked in with staff when we got there. Our waitress then went off looking for a table and then came back to tell us there weren’t any available and we should find one ourselves if any became free. So we stood there for about 10 minutes with nobody checking up on us before giving up and leaving. The staff and management of this pub are an absolute disgrace and we were so disappointed especially as Fullers pubs usually have a good reputation. Needless to say we won’t be back. Ever. One to definitely avoid. .

I was able to conduct business on my laptop in a great chilled atmosphere, background music sublime, EXCELLENT management & staff, met and spoke with the Head Chef; he has a real awesome passion and enthusiasm for his kitchen & his knowledge is second to none- having cheffed for Royal Navy & at Eton (and for the late Queen Elizabeth)... I cannot wait to come back for dinner here. Really pleased with my choice of venue today. Thank you!

I first came here the night it opened and it just keeps getting better as it gets bigger. This time I only stopped by for a couple of drinks while I bored my son with stories of my time in Southsea (try the Bored of Southsea skate-shop by the way, just down the road) and of the times we spent in this boozer which was already popular then for offering more variety than the other pubs around. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer this time - had to head off to Fratton Park ...

Just stopped by for a couple drinks with a few mates I hadn’t seen for a while. I was welcomed by a friendly staff member called Sammy. I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to drink, however Sammy was great at recommending me different drinks. She also let me try a few samples. I ended up going for a Black Forest Gateau which I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be recommending this pub to my friends and family!

I visited later on a Sunday night and was welcomed warmly, but it was obvious that the staff were getting ready for closing. I phoned ahead and knew I would only have an hour in the bar. Reasonable selection of kegged craft. However, they were all IPAs or pales, so I chose a couple of cans of dark. One local and one from York. Both were great. If I was in the city longer I would definitely visit again.

Popped in quite late on a Saturday, fairly busy but there is a lot of space. Basically a wine bar so little ale choice for me, especially dark but great for the rest of our party. We enjoyed our visit,mostly due to the excellent staff.

A really nice old pub feel, with panelling and the critical books required for vintage atmosphere. Had some Kofta on special which were a cannily priced premium bar snack; the Kofta were well spiced and with a whipped yoghurt raita. Absolutely divine and hit the spot precisely. Good beers on; dark star and siren alongside some craft offerings which the bartender was able to talk us through. Just top notch.

Recommended by beer app ‘Untappd’, the beer choice was completely different to as listed on the app. Staff were uninterested, all sat in a booth talking with no sign of life behind the bar. Had a swift half and then left. One of the beers had a sour edge and was definitely in need of having the lines cleaned of being changed. I may have just visited on a bad day, but I’d say approach with caution
