The steak has so much sinew in it, we had it shared 3 ways which did not mean 3 times the sides that normally come with it. There is a hidden 12.5 % non-optional charge on the bill that they will make you pay that is not listed on the menu

The October fest taster menu was something a bit good. Felt like it should have been in a up town restaurant but lived that it was in the pub environment with a soundtrack today kept it all upbeat. If I lived nearby I would come again and again.

The food was quite good. Definitely a twist on the standard roast dinner - although not quite up to the online ‘hype’ that made us visit. It might have just been that specific day, but the music was so DEAFENINGLY loud where we were seated. We couldn’t hear each other talk and the music was at times pretty strange. Think experimental piano jazz that literally sounded like a child was bashing a keyboard - as loud as it could go. It really wasn’t conductive to chilled out Sunday roast vibes. All good for an evening but a bit much for a family roast on a Sunday. The staff were pretty stand-offish too, giving off a vibe that they didn’t want to be there. It may have been ‘cool’ nonchalance, but it just gave off an impression of rudeness. Nobody asked how our meal was. When we arrived the girl just pointed and said “you’re there…” with no greeting. Just a bit of general politeness goes a long way. My partner asked for the menu to be explained and was told “yeah it’s just here.…” and swiped her finger along the options as if telling him to just figure it out himself.

We booked a table for late afternoon, having seen the Bravo Awards for it's Sunday roasts. We all know and love amazing roasts, not average ones and wow, the team at The Windmill, without doubt, exceeded our expectations. Two had the beef and I the pork. Both were truly excellent, especially considering we must have been one of the last tables to be served. Every single element was exceptionally tasty and perfectly cooked. Really, eating is believing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Exceptional food with excellent service. Highly recommend. We will be back and soon. Thank you to all the team.

Customer service poor. Lack of interest in customer experience. We asked for a hot drink and the bar lady said they didn’t have it and we could only have what they sold. Food advertising all over the place and then the same bar lady said we couldn’t have any as there wasn’t enough. They say to book for a roast but nothing else was available. They didn’t seem at all bothered about their customers.

Best Sunday dinner ever. I had the lions mane schnitzel with the hispi cabbage and Mac n cheese and it was shockingly good!! It was so nice having something a little different to the usual roast dinner. All the ingredients tasted super fresh and high-quality and it seems like a lot of love went into every element- there was nothing that felt like an afterthought. Loved it and will be back to try the midweek menu.

Enjoyed a weeknight trip to this pub with a big group of friends. I was impressed by the number of interesting beers on tap, and all were pretty reasonably priced for Brighton! Unfortunately, after hearing so many great things about Alberta’s, I was really disappointed by the food. £13 for 3 fried chicken wings and 3 small pieces of dill pickle is extortionate - plus £6 for dry, overcooked curly fries. The blue cheese mayo which accompanied the wings was far too thick, I actually found it difficult to dunk into. Would have been nice to see some different dipping sauces on the menu too, rather than just various types of mayonnaise. It’s a real shame as £19 can cover some pretty top-level pub grub in Brighton - I felt ripped off if I’m honest. I would gladly come back here for drinks and a game of Toad, but would give the food a miss in future.

While they might still bill themselves as a backstreet pub, the current team are putting The windmill on the map and making sure Brightonians take a very necessary diversion here. Their current popularity can be somewhat connected to the very hyped kitchen run by Albertas Food. The cuisine is billed as ‘Hot Sandos’ and combines Japanese and Italian-American cuisine in the format of sub rolls filled with a tempting combination of fillings. It was really great to see a row of craft taps on the back wall as well as the typical mainstream options. A really enthusiastic and chatty barman did a great job at drawing my attention to the taps. The Windmill Brighton serve a really good and reasonably priced Negroni and also Margaritas on tap. From the social media posts music is a big part of the pub's character, and they are the only place I know who book live Daytime DJs to entertain on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We arrives Sunday , my birthday after doing an escape hunt over the Road , we had geen told that with the escape hunt ticket if you went to this public house you got a free drink per couple , And they did food . Great this was a great bonus. After we finished our escape game we went in to the pub as suggested , asked about thevoffer , they cleaned a table we sat , asked if they had food , they said they had finished serving 6pm . So we said about the free drinks , the young lady tried to be of help saying oh I will check on this , she then returned saying that this was specific drinks and told us which . So we chose from this list , the manager came and put the charge through . We went to pay and it was full price , we explained . He then said oh no its only 20% off today !!!! . Obviously we just left . No idea what is going on there but will not return .

Had Sunday Roast with friends here recently. Love the venue - a pub with loads of history and friendly staff. The veggie option for the roast was pretty average for the price (friends said the meat was nice) and note that if you ask for extra gravy (there wasn’t much on the plate so you needed to) you will be charged £2 for a very small jug. Given the cost of the roast, whether the gravy is handmade as we were told or not, you’d expect gravy to be a free extra….

Booked a table here for a birthday get together. If you come here for a roast you need to order the chicken upfront so they know how many they need to order for the Sunday roast. They do an alternative take on a Sunday roast and it’s really delicious. The options are simple, they have the whole chicken to share for 2 people, short beef rib or the vegan lentil wellington. Which we all tried. All served with roasted new potatoes, sweetcorn, wedge of cabbage and gravy. We also ordered a few bowls f Mac and cheese as extra sides for 8 of us. Everyone complimented how good the food was and how they catered especially for vegans/vegetarians ie the gravy. Service was great and accommodating and it’s dog friendly. They serve local craft beers and non alcoholic beers. The decor of the pub was warm and cosy and it had a pleasant atmosphere when we were there. Definitely a good pub to revisit.

The pub itself is lovely and the staff very attentive, however the food, although passable, does not quite match the menu description. The baked Camembert with garlic and rosemary was dull. It was just a baked round of cheese with a couple of cloves of fried garlic and some burnt rosemary thrown on top. Even at home you slot the garlic and rosemary into the cheese and top with a little white wine as it bakes. Dull, dull, dull. The Salmon pasta was lovely, no complaints whatsoever. It was very tasty with lots of salmon. The biggest issue was the Korean burger with Asian slaw. Whilst the chicken was nicely cooked and coated in panko breadcrumbs, I couldn’t see in any way what made in Korean. The teaspoon of “Asian slaw” I had in the burger certainly didn’t and the burger sauce was also in no way Asian. A nice pub but the food was a let down.

Didn't eat here. Decent selection of beers including a very decent low alcohol beer on draught. Not too noisy so a good place to natter.

Great cocktails and service. Some great recommendations from the bartender. Went during happy hour too, and there's different ones across the different Twisted Bars

Went for breakfast and we had the pancakes. Absolutely delicious, huge portion and plenty of maple syrup and crispy bacon 😋 yum. Lovely waitress and bottomless coffee
