Fabulous Sunday lunch with the most delicious succulent Beef and delicious nut roast dinners. The homemade Yorkshire puddings are the biggest we’ve ever seen! I'd heard this place was good from a number of different people from different family and friends groups and oh my days. Our Sunday Roast turned into one of those special days that you wish would never end. Parking was easier than expected too as you can just use the yellow gridlines outside the school outside of the morning and afternoon drop off/ pick up times. Highly recommend and we will be returning for more perfect days!

Quiet Friday lunchtime, no other customers when we arrived at 12:15 so plenty of choice where to sit. Friendly welcome and happy to provide tasters of unknown beers. I ordered Steak and ale pie, my wife ordered scampi both were served after an acceptable wait suggestive of good being prepared to order. My pie not only came with chips and a jug of gravy but also four vegetables all perfectly cooked. The scampi also came with chips (we were both offered chunky or skinny chips) plus salad and a generous portion of peas. Despite arriving feeling hungry neither of us quite managed to clear our plates. All in all a very pleasant experience which we are happy to recommend.

A great spur of the moment find. Independent pub with plenty of real ale and lager to choose from. Very accommodating for 2 families with young children. Food quality is phenomenal and best we've had in a long time. The menu consisted of usual pub grub, with plenty of specials, i recommend the inhouse made pies, the steak and ale pie was brilliant. Whilst children are welcome, the Prices for childrens meals are exceptionally high at £12.95 for a traditional children's main and ice cream. We will be back for a roast dinner, without the kids!

Popped into this fabulous pub en route from Wales to the South Coast. Had read excellent reviews so thought we'd give it a go and it certainly lived up to its predominantly top ratings. The welcome and service was excellent, pub had a lovely ambience and atmosphere and our food was brilliant. Highly recommend Nigel's home made pies (we enjoyed the steak and the chicken/bacon), with gorgeous mash and lovely veg. Would happily have stayed all afternoon but had to get back on the road!

Visited today for Sunday lunch with the family, after recently moving too the village and visiting a couple of times for drinks, we booked for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely amazing I had the trio of roast, portions size was very generous and every single thing on the plate was cooked nicely and delicious, we all agreed it was great. The lady behind the bar Kelly was very attentive and the two younger lads waiting were polite, informative and nothing was too much trouble, please give this village pub a try, it’s a real asset, thanks Nigel and team, we will be back again soon. Was hard to choose what to eat as it all looked too good! Ham egg and chips were fantastic, and my friends had fish and chips. Generous portion sizes (we struggled finishing!), was served quickly, lovely and hot- and we had table checks too seeing if we needed anything. Great value too. If only I could give this pub more than a five star rating I would. Exceptional customer service given by Aaron both times we visited, he went over and beyond to make our visits a positive and enjoyable experience and catered to our needs. A big thank you Aaron for all you did, you are amazing and an asset to the pub. Enjoyed a fantastic roast first time visiting, huge roast and so delicious, kids meals are amazing value and large size too. Second time we tried Nigel's pies and were not disappointed. Kids meal choices perfect. Menu is very varied and lots of options including a choice of chips, chunky or fries and options for the kids meals, salad, peas or beans. Desserts are amazing and again great choices. There was nothing we could not fault. Pub well looked after and clean, excellent toilet facilities and nice garden. Excellent location as just off the main route for us travelling to and from our holiday destination, a great find indeed using Google. The Windmill has to be one of the best pubs we have visited. If only we were more local. I hope that this pub continues to be supported as it certainly deserves the support. If we are ever in the area again we would most certainly visit it if it continues to be this good. Once again thank you. It will be very difficult to find a pub better than this one. Highly recommend.

I had Nigel's pie - beautifully cooked steak and ale pie with chunky bits of meat and perfectly textured mash. Ashes was being being played on the tvv and it was a very friendly and jovial atmosphere. We came in as a couple the lad who was working the bar promptly seated us with a menu and kindly served our drinks with table service, took our food order and gave us 5 star customer service.. sadly for him he got bombarded with atleast 20 to 25 customer which is great to see for the pub.. when he managed to spare little time he had he kindly came to us and apologized for not being able to over see us. I don't believe we were the only table that witnessed this well mannered gentlemen control a hectic bar but deliver great customer service.. just feel that a night like last night he needed extra staff or atleast another member of taking food orders... Under the situation he was in, we were impressed how he kept it together and along with other customers he was a credit to the pub!!! Would of gave a 5 for the food aswel but service wasn't great on the sit down side but at no fault or the lad working the bar just felt under staff.. we will be back and will spread the word about the amazing food to friends and family

This is my local pub but my first visit for food since the new Landlord took over. Really impressed - we had baked Camembert to start which was delicious and had a really good amount of bread (nothing worse than running out when there is still cheese left!). I then had the Wagyu burger which was excellent, as was my friend’s steak and kidney pie. The cheesy truffle chips were probably a step too far after the Camembert but that’s my fault for being greedy - they were really tasty but I was a bit cheesed out. Having said that I’d like the option of having cheese on my burger (to be fair I didn’t ask, it might be possible, but not mentioned on the menu!). Also shouldn’t have had dessert as was very full at that point but did anyway and went for the Creme brûlée which was delicious. My daughter was very impressed with her brownie too and she is very particular when it comes to brownies. Really great menu so looking forward to going back and trying more of it!
