White Rock Inn in Sevenoaks

We had lunch at this gem of a pub in beautiful countryside near Sevenoaks in Kent. We received a very warm welcome and our waiter was charming. My wife had the fish pie and I had mussels and both meals were delicious. We can recommend the food here and we hope to return soon.

Came across this pub and restaurant by chance. Nice pub and friendly staff. No Sunday roasts offered today. Had Guinness pie which was soggy must have been put in the microwave. Not very happy for the price we paid. The roast potato’s that came with the beetroot wellington wasn’t very nice being warmed up for a long time. The vegetables were however very nice.

The White Rock Inn is in a beautiful spot in Kent. We had lunch there for 11 family members to celebrate my Mum's 91st birthday. Our servers were fantastic throughout our meal, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing, particularly the Indian chicken thigh skewers. I can highly recommend this restaurant, hopefully we'll back soon.

We came upon this pub purely by chance after a visit to Igtham Mote (also highly recommended!). A lovely setting, very friendly and helpful staff. Although we only wanted a light lunch, the menu was plentiful. Service was brisk and the food vey good. Would definitely return here if in the area. It was good to see that lunchtime was pretty busy.

The best experience when you walk in to anywhere that’s going to serve you food and drink is to be greeted by a smile. The bar man improved on that, we got a smile and a wave, his natural friendliness set us up for a perfect rest stop on our afternoon adventure. I am so grateful for the great service :-)

Went for Sunday lunch as most reviews were very good. We ordered Roast Beef and when it was brought out I thought it was going to be an amazing meal. Plates were warm which is always a bonus because so many places serve hot food on cold plates. Loads of meat accompanied on plate with 3 three very large roast potatoes, large Yorkshire pudding, roasted parsnips and a stuffing ball. On top of this we were served a separate dish of fresh vegetables consisting of pickled cabbage, cabbage and carrots all served very hot and more than enough for us. Then the excitement quickly turned to disappointment. It was advertised as Topside of Beef. Well, either it was another cheap cut of beef or, you should look at changing your supplier. The beef was tough, grisly and probably the worst roast beef I have ever had. So bad that I could not finish it as I think chewing shoe leather would have been easier. Everyone in our group said the same and it spoilt what should have been and could have been an amazing meal. To raise the review score slightly for dessert the Kentish Gypsy tart with cream was amazing. Not had it since school days and this was probably one of the best I have had so congratulations on this. I do think that the adding of a service charge to the bill is a little naughty. If the staff are paid well then serving and clearing up plates is what they are being paid for and any tip should be left to the individual to decide if and how much they may wish to give or not. Kitchen staff should also be paid a reasonable wage so that they are not reliant upon 'tips'. Overall, the venue is very nice located in an lovely country spot with plenty of parking and has retained the 'pub' character and atmosphere. Its a shame our visit was spoilt by poor quality meat and for that I have only given a rating of 3. If the meat was as it should have been I would have given a rating of 5 without hesitation.

We went to The White Rock on a Wednesday night and the pub was very quiet. I don’t know why because the evening we had was near to faultless. The welcome we got from the young gentleman behind the bar was just lovely and a refreshing change from what is becoming the norm elsewhere of blank apathy or indifference. The food was great, really tasty pub fare. I had the steak which came with dauphinoise potatoes which made a nice change from chips. My husband on the other hand had the pie which came with chips! We both had desert with my husband opting for the gypsy tart. It was a light and fluffy version of the school favourite. Food aside, it was the warm friendly service that made this pub stand out!! Big open space out the back, so ideal for the summer but I would imagine warm and cosy inside in the winter!!

Well what can I say! From the moment we walked in everything was excellent. We were greeted by staff with a warm hello. We were shown to our table which was in a lovely part of the pub. I had requested that the 11 people in our party were if possible seated on the same table. This had been arranged for us. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was very tasty and plentiful. I couldn’t fault anything. After our meal we were able to sit in the garden to carry on chatting and have a drink or coffee which was lovely too. Luckily it was warm enough. Although we weren’t being asked to vacate our table. The price was on a par with other pubs. Thank you White Rock. Would definitely recommend.

Service was terrible. The old woman that works there is rude & sarcastic. The food was out the freezer nothing ‘fresh’ all just purchased from suppliers and then reheated. Will not return.

The food is solid, English fare - I had whitebait and steak and kidney pudding. These were excellent as were my companions' meals. The downside is that the service was slow, but we weren't in a hurry

Had a lovely lunch at the White Rock. Great food (beef & guiness pie and a steak sandwich with chips) and a very festive atmosphere. The staff (Harry and 2 girls who's names we didnt catch) were very welcoming and attentive, they even brought water over to our table for our dog ! Would highly recommend.

Great service, particularly from the young chap making his way in life, his attendance, courtesy, attention to the needs of diners was impeccable! Great food too!

The young table staff were lovely but the kitchen seriously let this establishment down on this occasion. The belly pork that my friend ordered was undercooked and extremely fatty. The crispy crackling was clearly added from a packet. It went back to the kitchen but returned in a similar state. My salmon was overcooked and not particularly fresh. I then tried the fruit crumble and custard which was bland and straight out of the microwave. Not crumbly but doughy. When asked how the food was I answered honestly. The young waitress recommended the brownie instead as I had hardly touched the “crumble” but then had to come back and apologise as the “chef” had refused to provide one! I had come to this place with high hopes having read recent reviews. The food offering was appalling and not worthy of a public establishment. It might have been the sous chef on duty that day but even so… we won’t be returning any time soon. I have given it 2 stars only due to the plucky waiting staff and the nice atmosphere. So drink here by all means, just avoid the food on on a Thursday lunchtime

Fantastic find. Great food (SO good!), inventive menus, friendly, helpful staff and very dog-friendly. Stumbled on this place completely by accident, but would make an effort to find it again, and again, and again....

The food here is well priced, huge portions and really high quality. A gluten free savoury tart with the most incredible pastry; lovely roast and an amazing steak and kidney pudding. Really generous portions of vegetables and massive sides. The staff are plentiful and really attentive, working hard to make you feel welcome and very looked after from the moment you walk in. We discovered this place by accident, and think it’s really unique. It’s also in beautiful countryside for walking/ hiking before or after.

We went back here yesterday for dinner for the first time in 3 years. We are glad we did. A beautiful countryside location and sympathetically decorated country pub. The food was superb, a great selection of ales and wine and the welcome and service from the whole team was exceptional. We will be back!

Haven't been for a while as the old landlord was so miserable. My husband has been a couple of times for weekday lunches since new owners in situ so booked for a family Sunday lunch. What a lovely place it is again! Fantastic service - all staff were excellent and food was really good and plentiful. Will definitely make it a regular haunt. Great Halloween decorations too.

If you want a great venue, great staff who give a superb level of great service, excellent food. This is the place to come. I would highly recommend the fish platter and the gypsy tart.

We were visiting Kent for a couple of days and had dinner at the White Rock pub on the first night. Our waiter Harry was very welcoming and helped us with our choices - steak & Guiness pie with spring onion mash, carrots & leeks followed by Kentish Gypsy tart and crème brûlée. We liked it so much we came back for our second night and had another great meal - baby back ribs and salmon fillet followed by shared key lime pie. Thanks to Harry and the chef for two brilliant experiences!

A very lovely pub, first time visited , food was very nice we had a roast beef lunch and there was so much, and all cooked freshly. But the main thing we noticed was the staff, all very friendly, but the young lads that waitered was exceptional. Could not do enough, with polite, friendly manner. A rarity these days! Well what a find. First off the service was impeccable! Not over the top but super friendly and welcoming. You should be super proud of your young team. The food was good. I especially enjoyed the Camembert starter and my partner thought the ribs were excellent and something different to the standard pub fare around. Would we go back? Absolutely!!!

With extended annual trips to England for over 25 years... I estimate no less than 200 pub lunches... I can say with confidence that today's meal is the best food and service we have ever experienced. We were a party of 10 and every meal was excellent... Roast chicken, fish and chips, salmon, chips, ribs, burger all awesome Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. We all can't wait to come back! Well done, White Rock Inn team!

We had a lovely meal, food was lovely. Service was really good. However they add service charge to the bill. I know this is not uncommon now but I strongly object. I like to leave a tip at my own discresion and fully intended to do so. We asked the waitress to remove the charge (as I do wherever we go) This turned out to be a bit of an issue. The Manageress came and asked why we didn't want to pay the gratuity in a very passive aggressive manner and I explained that I like to leave what I consider to be appropriate. If she was concerned about our opinion on the service she could have worded her question very differently. She went away, I was with my parents and didn't want to make an issue of it as we had had a lovely meal for our anniversary. On hindsight I should of challenged her for her actions as I think this was extremely out of order and has now stopped us from returning or recommending this lovely pub for a meal. We did leave a tip.

In the past we have always had good quality meals at a reasonable price but on our visit last weekend we were incredibly disappointed. The Sunday roast (beef) consisted of a couple of slices of rare, fatty meat with stone cold Yorkshire pudding & barely cooked vegetables. The starter (chicken pate & bread) consisted of poor quality tasteless pate served with bread that was so hard & dry we could barely digest it. We did not stay for a dessert. All this with some wine cost over £100! If this pub is going to charge restaurant prices for poor quality pub food it is very soon going to lose customers. We shall certainly not be visiting it again & would not recommend it to others.

Opened again on 20th October under new managers Tania and Mark but with many of the old staff. I'm glad to say that again we had a wonderful meal. I had the duck while my wife had the excellent steak and ale pie - not a casserole with a pastry lid but a proper slice of pie. Our vegetarian daughter enjoyed the risotto too. We've been eating at the White Rock for 25 years now and i'm glad to see it reopen with no reduction in standards. Thanks to Frank, the previous landlord for passing the baton to a quality team. We wish you a long and happy retirement.

On our way to a funeral in Tonbridge saw a sign to this restaurant. It is a lovely old place with several log fires. Nice welcome and the food, sea bream and rib eye steak was very tasty and served quickly. Plenty of veg served in a side plate. Shared a pudding and slept through the funeral. Perfect!

This is difficult to rate. The food was nice. The staff were pleasant. Nothing particularly exceptional I would have rated the restaurant in between average and very good. I had breaded scampi and the Sunday roast chicken.

Excellent country pub. Very well kept ales and a good quality wine selection. Great food - a very pleasing, seasonal menu, using high quality ingredients - everything you want from a proper, non-chain, country pub. Service was perfect. Top marks all round.

We've just celebrated my dad's birthday here. Table of ten for the Sunday Roast. Lovely touches like fresh flowers and bottles of water already on the tables, not one but two roaring fires, lovely twinkling lights across the ceiling. Nothing was too much trouble.
