St Johns Fish Bar in Sevenoaks

My family have used St. John’s Fish Bar for many years now and would not consider going anywhere else for our Fish and Chips. Not only is the food consistently excellent but all the staff are very welcoming and it is quite simply a pleasure doing business with them. It takes a great deal of hard work preparing the fish and potatoes amongst other things to get ready to serve their customers as well as they do. All their hard work definitely pays off! Thank you to all the staff!

This Chip Shop has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, Friendly service and freshly cooked food every time. This does mean you need to wait for the food to be cooked, but it is well worth the wait!

We had the special offer of the regular cod & chips tonight. I didn't expect the cod to be so big, & with plenty of chips. It was the £5.60 deal. Delicious & hot, freshly cooked. Staff are very friendly & the place is spotlessly clean. We will be back deal or no deal!! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Sevenoaks fish bar is a lovely place to eat if you don't fancy cooking one night, it's local to me and Ben the father and essa the son cook to order it's piping hot and we'll presented the atmosphere is outstanding and the service is very good I go there something twice in my week but definitely go down every Saturday for my cod and chips.

Yet again Isa and his team cooked 90 portions of fish and chips and delivered them all to our Club at the agreed time. The generous cod portions were really tasty and, above all, still very warm - how they managed it must be a minor miracle. Every single guest was more than satisfied. Thank you from all at Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls Club.

Extraordinary level of service and excellent food. Try the Cod Bites and Chips. Cooked fresh and definitely worth waiting 5 Minutes for. Happy, friendly, hardworking staff and even provided the local paper to read whilst I was waiting. Canned drinks , pickled onions and all for under a tenner. Great value too.

We have had quite a few takeaways from St John's this is by far the best fish & chip shop in this area, prices are a little higher than most other places, but you pay for the quality of the product. We have not had an unsatisfactory meal from them. The chips are really nice, and the batter is crisp and not oily, the fish flakes easily when pressed with a fork. I do not normally review food as I trained as a chef and am more critical of food than most people, but give credit where it's due.

WOW - We've loved this place since we moved to Sevenoaks in 2016, but tonight was out of this world. Freshly cooked, piping hot and I don't know if they've got a new recipe or supplier but the flavours on everything were stunning. 10/10.

Wonderful chippy. Light crispy batter on the huge cod, in its own box. Very good service over the phone to order ahead and collect when agreed. Curry sauce and battered sausage very tasty. Good value too

I'm from Belfast and love a Fish Supper. This place is the best I ever tasted. Portion sizes are huge. So huge its hard to finish in one sitting. Don't worry though, go back to it in 3 hours and the fish is still crispy. Im not sure how but it is

Greasy, soggy fish and cardboard chips, quite different to my previous visit and I won’t be back.. and not cheap either..

For the second time I ordered two fish and two chips, I paid 22 £ and when I got home there was only one fish and one chips in the box. very bad

Generous fish perfectly cooked and real chips. Very friendly service. It can't be easy with fast rising prices from suppliers. If they keep working hard to keep the value for money high and the prices constant or well under control they should get through these tough times and Sevenoaks will continue to have a great Chippy! People need to eat and will seek value which is here.

Average at best. Haddock was quite nice but as it should be for £9, although quite greasy. The chips however were really bad. Really dry, like cardboard. Not good. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

I am very impressed with the two large cods. They were large and delicious. I like the chips to. Piping hot. To be fair though. Not far from my house. So the food would be still hot when I get home. Plus I like the lemon slices with the cods. This place I give 10 out 10 for food quality etc.

Friendly service, big portions and value for money. They gave us double portions of fish as apparently the fish were 'a bit small' - which they weren't. We are having the remainder for lunch today!

Having had decent fish and chips from here on my first visit about a month ago I decided to have another go but this time the fish was pretty awful and although the chips were fine they were not hot and crispy. Perhaps it was an off day but I am unlikely to return given the cost.

Best fish and chips in Sevenoaks, hands down. Always order 2 mushy peas (as well as the fish and chips, of course), they gave me one by mistake and ran up St John’s Hill to catch me up to hand deliver the 2nd when they realised. If that’s not service, I don’t know what is!

This has always been our go to fish and chip shop. However, this time my disabled step dad got a piece of Rock that was not as good as usual. He phoned and spoke to Ben, who very kindly, offered to deliver a new piece of fish to our house which is about 7 miles away. Usually the food is excellent and obviously the customer service is 2nd to none!

Chips were over cooked, and fish very greasy and also dry.

Don’t go late at night - was the 2nd time I’ve visited since moving to the area - the first time I was really impressed. However this time it was awful - I went at 9 o clock so hoping it was down to that but the chips were like card board and I’m being serious when I say it was the worst saveloy I’ve ever had - it tasted like a boiled sausage with no flavour. Really dissapointing, keep the chips fresh and learn how to cook a decent saveloy. Will give them 1 more chance before changing

Great fish and chips. A update Friday the 8th January 2021 my friend called in and we had two steak and kidney pie with chip. Sadly after saying many times how good they are we had very cold chips which most was hard a uneatable and our pies was at best lukewarm. Now I'm hoping this was a one off. Very poor

Always have fish and chips for lunch when I have a dentist appointment and it’s always excellent. Batter is beautiful and cod is always fresh. I actually look forward to going to the dentist because I get to have lunch from here!
