Had an excellent lunch at the Willy wicket. Tuesday 17/9, the atmosphere was spot on, music up, fire lit which was so cosy, and the team were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended and look forward to seeing the pub post remodel!

Fantastic service. Could not have asked for friendlier or more helpful staff. Thank you for making our 80rh birthday meal.

Fantastic family meal, food was fresh and plentiful. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Highly recommended.

Five of us went for an early evening meal here. The food was very good but the service was terrible. We waited over half an hour for them to take the order and then another half hour wait for the food.

We Booked in advance to have a meal. When we arrived we were taken to a table that was right in the Sun. I asked to draw the blinds on the large window in front.I was told there isn’t one, it was broke. The table was sticky and dirty the chair had a cushion fitted to the top which was covered in dirty food stains I ordered a pint of beer it had loads of bits floating in it. I pointed this out to the barmaid who was also the manager Her reply was that the barrel must be running out. No apology. No offer to change the beer. That was her answer. We ordered food which took a ridiculous amount of time to come out when it did. It was all overcooked. It had been cooked and left under something to keep it warm. It was so hot you couldn’t eat it and overcooked. when I pointed this out to the waitress she said oh sorry I don’t know what I can do about it. Do you want to speak to the manager? I did say yes. When the Manager eventually came over she said, “well I haven’t been in the kitchen today, I don’t know why the food is coming out like that”. We can’t do anything about the sunlight coming through the window because there isn’t a blind there, I asked her why when I told her my beer had bits floating in it she didn’t even apologise and she answered, “Oh I should’ve done”, she then offered a discount or would wipe the bill. That wasn’t why we went for a meal. You expect what you pay for and you don’t expect the Manager not to make an effort when you make a complaint. We will not be going to the Willywicket anymore, I give them 0 out of 10.

We held our wedding reception here yesterday & we’re completely blown away. Leanne, Carl & team were phenomenal. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb. I would highly recommend The Willy Wicket if you’re considering a smaller intimate venue. Our day was perfect. 😍

We held our wedding reception here yesterday & I can without question, say what Leanne & Carl did for us was just amazing. I was truly lost for words on arrival. They went above and beyond, we were completely blown away. I would highly recommend if anyone is thinking about a venue for an intimate reception or party then definitely book here. Both the afternoon food & evening buffet were outstanding. I can’t thank you enough for making our day so special. It was perfect.

Allergies are a significant issue for many people .. when you tell a restaurant that your son is allergic to raw vegetables you don’t expect to see the meal arrive with a green flag stuck in the meal and side salad on their plate . When asked the waitress said she didn’t realise that raw vegetables applied to salad as well .. I’d suggest a bit of retraining / training might be appropriate…

Lovely pub , been here several times and there’s always a nice welcoming atmosphere, with good beer and food . Had a great evening meal to celebrate father in law’s 90th birthday. Staff are helpful and eager to please . Special shout out to Ollie behind the bar , who is very friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. Will definitely be coming back ! Jon

We've had really good visits to the Willy Wicket in the past but the most recent visit was a major disappointment. Arrived at noon for lunch on a weekday but staff were not ready to receive guests and we had to ask to be seated. When I asked about the lunchtime menu which was advertised online, staff were unable to locate or produce a paper menu for us to look at. Food for 3 people took over 40min to arrive and only after we enquired about it. We were the first table to order that lunchtime but another table was served before us. When I queried this, the supervisor was very abrupt in her response and said this was because we had ordered a steak (I didn't think it took that long to cook a steak, even a well-done one!). She seemed to imply that the delay was our own fault for ordering the steak in the first place but none of the staff had made it clear that the steak would take that long to cook. We had intended to stay for dessert but after being given dessert menus, nobody came back to take our orders so we ended up leaving after paying at the bar (again because there was nobody around to ask for the bill). The supervisor studiously avoided us for the rest of our visit and did not check back in with us at any point afterwards. I submitted a complaint after the visit but there was no apology forthcoming or reassurance that the issues I highlighted would be addressed, only a voucher for £10 which felt a bit like a 'payoff' to keep me quiet. £10 barely covers the price of one main meal! I don't think we'll be back again in the future given our recent experience which is a shame because previous visits have been lovely especially when Charlotte and her team were waiting tables.

We came to the willy wicket on Sunday for a birthday roast and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the restaurant was a lovley relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress Beth went ubove and beyond for the birthday girl singing happy birthday and making her mocktails (she was 10) there was a problem with one of the drinks and she quickly sorted it without hesitation beth really helped to make the day special and we will definitely be coming back Thank-you to the chef and Beth for our experience

Lunchtime. Menu good choices. Staff great prices okish

Have visited multiple times over the last few months for not only a quick drink and a nibble but also for sit down meals with family. All of the staff seem to be great and attentive but also not overly 'in your face'. Leighanne is a stand out member of staff who is always busy doing something around the place! Sometimes she is in the kitchen, other times behind the bar and other times doing all of it! Food is great, I had the Pork belly which was amazing, especially the crackling! Dad had the beef which he said was so tender and mouthwatering! Side dishes are great for a little snack, highly recommend the Sticky Chicken and the Halloumi Fries for a quick dish. Great selection of drinks with Beers, Lagers and a good range of ales. Nice range of wines and spirits as well. Not visited in winter before but there are numerous fire places around which looks to be used for fires in the winter months so can only imagine how cosy this place can be. We've never struggled to get a table in this location but can say it does seem to fill up so think I may need to start booking in advance. There is an outside seating area which is popular in summer as it does benefit from the sun through the day All in all a great place for food and drinks, great location with easy to access road, free car parking, great staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend

We were served by the lovely Paula, who training a new member of staff, she was very helpful in our meal choices with fussy little ones, nothing was too much trouble. We can’t wait to return.

This place is normally hit and miss for food quality, and more often than not you wait a long time to be served. Today the food was fine but the service was beyond bad - 40 minutes between being seated and our drinks arriving (20 minutes waiting for a waiter, 20 minutes waiting for the drinks), with very little apology. I also heard the 2 tables near us having problems, so it's not like it was just us having issues. We were going to stay for dessert (I like the banoffee choux they do) but we were fed up so just paid and left. We tend to come back despite the inconstancy and poor service because we're local and it's pretty slim pickings for good pubs around here, but honestly I wish we'd stayed at home with a 4 pack and an oven pizza, it would have been more enjoyable. I don't think I'll be back for a while, sorry.

Great bar staff, Rachel and Amber are friendly with a great sence of humar, food excellent and a very good atmosphere.

Lovely fishcakes with new potatoes. But was boiling hot and burned my mouth. Tried to get hold of staff but they were so busy.

I came to the Willy wicket for a few pre drinks before my hen do the staff were incredible and very attentive. We ordered a few bar snack and they were delicious thanks vicky and Sam and all other staff ;)

I have just returned from a meal at this public house i have to say that the visit was not very good i ordered the beans and grain salad i asked for the dressing to be separate when the meal arrived it had been put on already so they took it back and brought the next one the same as before the waiter or waitress did not listen to my request when it came to my pudding i asked for the main menu but was repeatedly given the set menu everything seemed to difficult for the lady who served on our table a friend of mine spoke to the lady who turned away while my friend was speaking and walked away now that is so rude i think she needs to learn customer service skills as they were sadly not noticeable after our experiences we will not be returning to the willy wicket again

The food was excellent: the chips were perfect, the portions were generous and there is a kids menu with various choices too. The service was good with friendly, helpful staff but would be even better if it was slightly faster and the kids food could come first. I am looking forward to going back.

Really poor service with exceptionally long waits to be served and then to receive the food. The meal was poor - cold soup returned to be microwaved. Lamb that was almost inedible - very disappointing. Overbooked and understaffed

We popped in with no expectations and we do not live in the area. The food and service were excellent. Well worth the price.

yesterday I went to drink a beer with my friend after some time even though we are 2 houses away and we were both impressed by the new staff made up of beautiful and kind women who make me want to come back!

We booked here, for Sunday lunch for 4, at a suggestion from a family member who’s living nearby & travelled up from the Weston area to meet them. The Service was good, but having experienced the Brent House carvery (a similar price) there was no comparison. Not only was the portion small and not as shown in the photo library, the cabbage/broccoli were virtually raw whilst the potatoes had been kept warm for so long I nearly needed my other set of teeth! I had 2 pieces of turkey one so thin you could see through it and the other like a left over chunk. Combined, they equated to two small sized pieces. The whole plate was cold. Decided not to risk the £8 for desserts. Very disappointed.

The food was great, lovely roast. However came without Yorkshire puddings, crackling or stuffing and we had to ask for these. There were no starters available as short of staff in the kitchen and then we witnessed the chef come out to the bar, and down a pint of beer and stand around talking. Staff were unprofessional, standing around talking to each other most of the time.

I went for a very relaxed meal with my daughter for her birthday. Seared bass was perfectly cooked. Sticky toffee pudding was just right to finish up with. My daughter enjoyed all 3courses. I'm fussy about beer, but my pint of Landlord was a great cellar temperature, very well kept. Staff were busy but still very polite and attentive without being obtrusive, which is exactly how I personally prefer any meal out. Customers arriving in vehicles be aware to register your vehicle reg. when you arrive at the pub. (Very easy, but I didn't do it and got fined by the car park company.) The pub supervisor however was kind enough to cancel the fine upon proof of my patronage which was really kind of her, so many thanks and top marks to Charlotte for that.

Travelled down from Birmingham to meet an old friend who was over from Australia, spent a nice few hours in the sun reminiscing over a couple of drinks. Didn't realise I had to register to park but pub were great as I could prove I bought something, thank you.

It's been a while since we last visited here, as we were in the area we decided to book a table last minute. We were shown to a table close to the window which was bright but the chairs were quite grubby. Menu was quite good, my wife would have preferred a rump instead of a sirloin but was cooked suitably. I chose the fish cakes, nicely flavoured. We did think the service was a bit slow, but I guess it's hard to balance between being rushed to eat and having a relaxing meal. Our server was very polite and approachable. Atmosphere a little lacking during our visit, just a bit on the quiet side.

Not sure what's going on with this place; probably down to hospitality and staff issues but took a while to be served on Saturday night staff doing their best.

Leighann looked after us brilliantly, very helpful, will be glad to go back.

My wife and I popped in today with our one Yr old daughter and were well greeted. We hadn't booked but were told walk ins were OK and we could pick a table. I have to say I was very impressed with the Sunday lunch options and picked the Sunday trio. The stand out was the turkey... it was absolutely amazing, so juicy and tender. The whole roast was spot on. The wife enjoyed the fish n chips and was highly complimentary as well. I would highly recommend a stop here and hope to visit again. Thank you for having us

The pub is nicely decorated with some lovely original features and old pictures. We were a large group and were comfortably seated together for a meal late in the afternoon. The food could have been hotter, but we liked the option to ask for extra gravy for the roasts, and it was all very well cooked and tasty, despite the late hour. However, what really made the trip great was the service. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and the service was efficient. One member of staff in particular stood out, I think he said his name was Cam - he was incredibly upbeat and nothing was too much trouble, he went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy and seemed genuinely invested in making sure we all enjoyed our meal. It can't be easy to maintain such good humour in a job that's physically demanding and stressful at times, so kudos to Cam, he did a brilliant job.

The waiter new cam was very helpful, very kind and amazing service. Food was beautiful. We will be visiting again.

Chicken hunter meal was too small for the price, it was dry and overcooked, flavourless and the staff were quite not friendly. The manager wasn’t good enough. Very poor quality. Will not be returning!!

Walked in for a round of drinks, had been recording a video shoot in London and this was a stop off on way home for drinks,Rachel was a fantastic hostess and nothing was to much trouble for her
