As a family we stayed in the double decker bus which is just behind this pub (and was an amazing adventure) We took the family in for an evening meal for my grandsons 3rd birthday. The food and the staff were amazing. Thoroughly recommend a visit here

Decided to have a last-minute family lunch, completely forgetting it was a bank holiday. We were over the moon to get a table of 9 at the last minute. From the phone call to our leaving, the service was fantastic. Even though they were obviously busy, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The decor is lovely and warm. The food...yum. We had 4 roasts, one trio of meats, two beefs, and one chicken. Portions were good, and the meat was beautifully cooked. It came with two Yorkshires, extra gravy, and lots of vegetables. The other meals we had were two hunter's chicken, a kids nuggets and chips, scampi and chips, and two portions of cheesy garlic bread. All good portions, all lovely. We had desserts also and again, all lush. A lush afternoon, and we will be back!!!

We enjoyed being in the garden and the music was very nice. We've been to this pub many times over the years but it was an unpleasant surprise to find that all beers cost six pounds, including the same beer that we paid four pounds for in another pub in the area.

Absolutely wonderful Sunday Lunch. We were informed upon arrival that there would be a delay of around an hour for food. After hearing great things about the place, was sadly set up for disappointment. Promptly greeted with my family on arrival (6.30pm last night) and shown to table, asked for drinks within 5mins. One other table dining in the small area from what we could see - can only assume outside garden area was busy for what was to follow.. Seemed to take too long for drinks to arrive for what I would deem prompt. All staff were friendly enough and you could tell it was a very local pub with that ‘click’ of conversations going on with patrons and I guess one of the owners. We had only ordered mains for myself, husband and two boys, but time kept ticking away.. After about 40mins there was interaction from a manager/owner who seemed to ott joke about the situation and said “thanks for our patience”..without further explanation as to what’s happening. After a further 20mins (1hr now) and random side order of garlic bread arrived, perhaps in the attempt to appease but should have been part of our mains - so thought yes finally.. kids were starving and thought Mains must be on the way. But no.. a further 20mins mains arrived. Food was good all round - tad overcooked steak to my liking and hard egg yolk, but by this point didn’t mind we were all hungry. Though perhaps providing steak knives would be helpful in future as I did leave half of it as simply couldn’t cut. We were checked back on no less than 4 times whilst trying to eat , where was the interaction & explanations during the last 1hr20mins? Certainly didn’t seem be a front of house staffing issue as a good 6 members where busy embarrassing the lady with happy birthday singing next to us. Something had clearly gone wrong in the kitchen, nearby table who must have arrived just before us had their starters, mains, desserts and paid the bill before we touched a bite. As we were nearing end of meal it was prime time and was busy, other diners being sat and overheard them being told of delays. Would have been nice if we were told of any delays or rather any explanation at all, but simply ignored. Not sure what we were expecting, but no real apology for crazy wait, no offer of a free drink or any sort of discount on the bill. Kinda left a sour taste about returning. I understand things can go wrong, kitchen staffing issue / unexpected delays but don’t leave customers hanging without a word, give people an informed decision at the start if there is a wait and we could have made an informed decision about staying or going. I’m an ex chef and restaurants manager of 25yrs I know the industry inside and out, just be upfront and honest and I know the tricks - the charm & smiles don’t wash with me, it may be embarrassing for the younger servers to have to deliver bad news to tables - but it would have been more a forgiving review

Stopped here unexpectedly after long delays on the motorway and with two dogs a baby all needing to get out the car we just needed somewhere to stop. We were made to feel welcome immediately and nothing was too much trouble. Although there is no changing table but we were offered a private room in which we could change our baby in peace. The dogs were provided with water and treats and both staff and other customers were very friendly. What could have turned into a very stressful start to our holiday turned into a lovely evening and we'd be glad to return!

Wasn't a helpful venue Arrived at 2.50 they stopped cooking at 3. Two tables reserved that we couldn't sit at? They wouldn't be ordering by 3? We would be gone in an hour.... Made no sense and customers who will never return. Reply We were at the bar and ready to order the food required if there was a table. We were offered a table with high bar stool type chairs with a disability and limited mobility it was not suitable, the outside seating also not suitable as I have an allergy to insect bites, one very nice couple offered their table (we would not expect anyone else's table!) The lack of understanding comes from having 2 tables that were not being used! And wouldn't have been by the 3pm cut off!

We went here for the first time as a meeting place to pick up the grandchildren on Good Friday . We were travelling from and back to Wiltshire , my daughter and son in law from the West Country en route to Wales . The staff could not have been more helpful and obliging both during the a telephone booking and whilst we were there. Due to heavy traffic my daughter and her family were more and more delayed . We ate at leisure and we were able to order their food and told , just let us know 15 mins before they are due to arrive ! Delicious, hot food arrived at the table , once they had arrived , toileted etc and were settled . This was much needed after a long family journey on the M5 on a bank holiday !! We were not hurried in anyway and we will definitely be going back. The pub is easy to find and very convenient for getting back into the M48 in both directions. It is by lovely quiet village setting so good for a dog walk too.

This pub is absolutely wonderful and we cannot recommend enough. We booked a table with friends and stayed overnight in our campervan I the carpark (there is a nice field but it's been too rainy to use at the moment). This was not a problem for us as the carpark is perfectly quiet and safe with a portaloo behind pub if needed in the night. On our arrival we had the best welcome we have ever had from all of the staff. Our reserved table was available earlier than we expected so we stopped for drinks and sandwich before heading out for a walk over the Severn bridge (very close by) I the evening our friends joined us for food... Wowzers ... The food was amazing. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals tremendously. The portions are large, produce top quality, flavours amazing and service excellent. As we had been recommended the pub we were excited as we don’t often get to go out without our children . I feel that they mad a mistake with our bill as by the time we got around to paying it we just wanted to leave and my husband never checks it he met me at the car and it cost us for two main meals and 2 drinks each £105 !! That was two steaks two glasses of wine and two orange juices. As you can imagine I was angry at my husband for not questioning it but also can understand why he wanted to leave as they just put you in a corner and forgot that we were even there , the three tables next to us also were making the joke they had forgotten about us Very disappointed.

A good local pub offering some good ales and lagers, but unfortunately the menu is limited to some non-inspirational dishes that are overpriced and underwhelming. The three of us opted for pie and mash, curry of the day and scampi and chips. We had a couple of drinks each and the bill came to £90. It's a shame that pubs are beginning to price themselves out of the market and give you pathetic excuse that the price of ingredients have escalated. Good luck to the Boar's Head and we'll be opting for a far more enjoyable and value for money take a way for our Saturday night treat from now onwards.

Came to this area for the night and wanted something nice to eat, well we found this absolute gem of a place. We walked in to be greeted by the most hospitable happy and very helpful man,he’s was such a pleasant guy and made us feel at ease straight away. The menu was what you’d expect but it was just a little more than you’d expect. The food was incredibly tasty 🤤 had lasagna with garlic bread and some salad, husband had ham,egg and chips all totally delicious. Dessert was just as yummy, lemon meringue pie with Ice cream and bread and butter pudding with cream…. All made on site, just perfect 👌🏻

The food and service were excellent. We came to celebrate our birthdays and had a fabulous time. We live a short walk away and count ourselves very fortunate to have this pub on our doorstep
