My wife and I visited the Blue Bowl on Friday 23rd August. I had the mixed grill. Steak medium well done, chicken breast, gammon, sausage, and the plate came with mushrooms, tomotoes, fried onions and chips. Every single morsal of meat was perfection. The entire meal was very, very good! I honestly couldn't find a single fault. The staff were amazing, attentive and really good humoured. We had a great time, with very well prepared and cooked food. If you want great pub food cooked by a chef who knows what he is doing, I can recommend this place as brilliant! (My wife had halloumi salad and cheesy garlic bread. She said hers was great).😁

Varied menu but served food does not match menu images in any way. I had chicken on a bed of vegetables and the vegetables were over cooked and bland, the chicken was dry and burnt. Dessert was slightly better. Prices are cheap so I feel the dinner was value for money. A small carpark at the rear and a small beer garden. Step free access. Service was good.

Husband loved his mixed grill. Food came promptly and was piping hot. Accommodating and friendly staff...swopped the tele to the Olympics for us. Need a few more staff behind the bar as getting served for drinks took a while. That was our only complaint. Will return

The Blue Bowl is always our go-to when it comes to big family meals. The prices are good, the portions are big and it’s great value for money. As well as this, there really is something for everyone on the menu. The food isn’t outstanding, but I think what you pay for, it’s good. I went for the giant gyros and it was great.

Enticed back by 40% off mains offer. We were not disappointed, in fact food (steaks) exceeded expectation. A guy sitting near us said he was ordering a steak as he was impressed by the look of our meals. He was happily tucking in when we left. Becky, the number of staff who took our order and brought food to the table was lovely and professional. One down note was the toilets, still smelly and flush running constantly. However, overall our experience was good and we will return.

Been here a few times and have always had a decent experience but for me our recent visit could have been better. Ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and all I could taste was Coca Cola with a hint of the spirits that should have typically been made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola. My youngest daughter who works in a cocktail bar said that in her opinion it was not up to scratch. The steak plates that we ordered were good, but my Greek Burger was almost incinerated and with it being a Sunday lunchtime the place was so busy than rather complain I just ate the food. Pity as from past experiences I had expected more.

Come to the blue bowl regularly and I love it. The staff are great, the food is great. Love coming here. Cheap and cheerful

Absolutely awful. Steak was mostly fat. Chips not cooked through. Onion rings like cardboard. Tomatoes not cooked. Scampi served on a pile of greasy onions. Best thing I ate was the tartare sauce and that was out of a sachet. Worst example of pub grub I can remember having. Who can’t fry chips???

Lovely local pub, is what it is but good well cooked food, friendly pleasant staff nicely decorated and comfortable. Can't fault it, it's a pub not Michelin restaurant so the moaners need to remember that maybe, overheard very rude customers to the hard working staff really not necessary

Long wait for rubbish. Cold, undercooked food, and offered replacement chips for uncooked rice but sadly they were cold too . Server ( manager?) couldn't be less interested. I chose to pay for only 2 meals as it was all so poor, but she didn't even look up. Would expect better, esp as there's a 'Spoons 500m away which is more consistent.

We visited as a group of 4 mature women 23/5/24 for an evening meal. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food very reasonable especially with our 25% off voucher!

Had not been there for a very long time, was greeted by friendly staff the atmosphere was good and the food was delicious would recommend the blue bowl we will be going back.

Celebrated my husbands birthday with our children?, partners & grandchildren. 14 of us, I pre-booked the table & pre-ordered our meals. We didn't have to wait long for our food, it all came out at the same time, puddings followed. We all enjoyed our food, it was delicious. Very well organised & the staff were absolutely brilliant. We would highly recommend this friendly pub. Great prices, fully accessible for wheelchairs & pushchairs. Free carpark, family friendly with outside seating too. Thank you to all of the team x

We were a party of 12,the staff were very accommodating, especially Becky.

Came here before with my bf for some food a month or so ago (been here for beers lots of times) and it wasn't very good. Tried it again a couple days ago and the food is loads better :) becky is always great never any problems, but some of the other staff need to brush up on their customer skills!!! The place is definitely getting better!!!!!

Great family atmosphere fantastic staff.

This was my first time at the blue bowl. I will definitely be coming back. The two girls behind the bar were a pleasure to see upon arrival. There was a young blonde girl who didn’t look happy to be working. Food was amazing and it’s good value for money.

Food under cooked RAW . Avoid and eat elsewhere if I was you . Older lady staff very rude and abrupt towards us and others not good atall !! Poor young waitress running around getting shouted by them not fair when she was the only one working and had manor's we defiantly won't be returning new chefs who cook the food ! And more manor's from your head staff maybe .

Good bar great staff but order boneless chicken for there and at 11.29 and 9 almost nuggets show pretty bad and that was between 2 I could eat that on my own and friend could demolish it

It's too busy or understaffed. Or both. Often the queue to the bar wind around the pub and, if you have a table nearby, the queue snakes around you. This means you are hemmed in and people watch you eat while they wait for service, which is very weird. The food and drinks selection is okay, I wish I could like it more, but I won't be hiring back.

The food was delayed by 45 mins which was a bit long but value for money was excellent- especially the 2 meals for £11.75.

We visited on a Tuesday evening and the pub was fairly busy. We were able to order quickly and despite how busy they were our food was delivered in good time and by friendly staff. Everything was cooked well and tasted delicious. Would definitely recommend it.

Not one to leave a negative review but, Had to find our own table... Queued for 25 mins to order drinks and food... Waited an hour for food... Steak asked for rare was well done, fish under cooked and chicken burger inedible.. The blue bowl has so much potential but let down by short staff and obviously in experienced chefs. Such a shame but also not the first time having a bad experience there.... Massive well done to the only 2 bar/waitress staff the evening of 20th March... You did amazing considering how busy it was!

A lovely bubbly pub hidden just off of the High Street. Both food and drink were lovely and we will definitely be back - shoutout to the salmon and the new tandoori chicken skewers, they're ace! Will definitely be returning.

Kate, Lucy becky and Chef Alex are very friendly and attentive. I had fish and chips and this was absolutely lovely, would recommend this meal to anyone. Will definately be back.

We’re regulars here due to the great food at a reasonable price and excellent service as always! Special thanks to Jane (or jay we can’t remember her name!) and the other staff for being so accommodating.

Staff were friendly and really accommodating to a short notice large group booking. Really nice atmosphere and good service. Unfortunately one meal was returned, but can’t fault the refund and apology from staff. Overall really good visit thank you!

Staff clearly worked very hard to cater to all on Christmas Day. A lovely atmosphere, attentive service and exceeded our expectations on most levels. We have been left with lovely memories of Christmas 2023. We have not had a meal out on Christmas Day before, but did this year for the first time. Based on our experience we would love to do it again - it added to our day to see so many families coming together to enjoy to be with each other. Thank you Blue Bowl and everyone else that was there, wonderful!

The staff & food were lovely but the amount of children running around & screeching ruining my grandmother’s very sad 1st Christmas without her loved one. We will not be visiting again. There should be designated ‘family’ zones & ‘quiet’ zones as they had before. Also the so called cutlery trays & cutlery itself needs a very good clean. Very disrespectful & disappointing.

Just had Christmas dinner, highly recommend, service amazing, food amazing.

So after coming in intermittently last night we both had a good meal the steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken fajita ( although a bit tight on the chicken portion) was very tasty. Service was brilliant 🤩

We always enjoy a visit to the blue bowl. The bar staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The food is ok but nothing to rave about, but it's cheap and cheerful!

Food is good in comparison to prices, we were a party of 6 and food came fairly quick, although only 5 meals we had nearly finished ours before we had to remind a member of staff that the 6 meal didn't turn up. No steak knifes provided for the steak meals.

We used to come here a few years ago and loved it! Then stopped as it seemed to of gone down hill. We recently went to see some family in Telford and used a sizzling pub and really enjoyed the food that we came here again for my partners 30th family meal last Sunday. Everyone enjoyed the food so much and the pre order system was so easy and was nice to get everything we wanted. I then told other side of the family about how good it was that we then came back a few days after for my brothers birthday meal! Again food was perfect and no one complained and the staff went above and beyond and was willing to help on both occasions. We will definitely be back! Thank you all so much. Glad to see the blue bowl is amazing how it used to be. Xx

Myself and my wife tried this out because we have recently moved to the local area. We were looking forward to being able to walk to a local for a meal and a few drinks. What a total let down. There was no customer service, good nor bad, there just wasn’t staff to offer any customer service! My wife’s meal was cold and chewy and no one checked on us. No short walk and money saved on Ubers is worth the terrible experience we endured.

Food was great, cant fault the pub really, its come along way over the past couple of years, it did have a run of poor service and lack of menu options a few years ago, but now comfortably meets expectations

My favourite pub in Bristol! The staff here are the best! Becky, Tom and Lucy are always here to help gives us the best service they can! Food is always great and the drinks are good value! Especially the offers for the shots and the cocktails.

Food took over an hour to come to the table even though we had booked a table. Chicken was rubbery, not many peas. Paid extra 99p for dirty chips which was a few bits of crisps and a tiny bit of nacho sauce. The only plus was that the chips were nice. Will not be back and will not recommend to anyone

Good atmosphere but terrible food tasted like boil in the bag stuff wasn’t the greatest paid top money for a second rate food wouldn’t be bad if the price reflected the meals Great for drinks wouldnt have food again

If I could give this zero stars, I would. This was a disaster from when we entered. No member of staff welcomed or shown us to our table. Food orders taken wrongly even though they were off the menu without additional requests. Waited over an hour for our luke warm food. Some dishes turned up without items, dirty chips were disgusting and a worthless amount added. Staff seemed bothered by everything. I personally had the 'cluckin' hot Burger'... Just because you put 3 jalapenos slices in, doesn't make it clucking hot. Best part about this experience was leaving, to get food somewhere else. AVOID.

I had a brilliant time, staff where really kind and welcoming, the food was fast and tasty. Steak was cooked as I wanted it. I will be coming again, The person who served me was called Lauren and she was quick with my order, really friendly and helpful.

Very warm welcome from Lucy who also showed us to our table. The meal i wanted was unfortunately not available, and lucy made an excellent recommendation as an alternative, which I enjoyed emensley. Would highly recommend the loaded surf and turf again. Even when leaving, we were thanked for our custom. Would definitely recommend to friends having a night out.

I had a young lady called Paige serve and bring the meals over to our table she was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble when we were asking for condiments, came over and asked if everything was ok and even went the extra mile and brought drinks over to our table when ordered, everyone working was great and made us feel at home great atmosphere will definitely come again, and as we walked in a lady called jamie held the doors open and was very friendly and welcoming

All credit to Lucy and Tom at the Blue Bowl. Four of us had a late afternoon meal . Many tables were reserved but Lucy made us welcome and directed us to several that were free. When ordering our food and drinks Lucy was very friendly and approachable. She asked if any allergys, checked specifics as one of us does, and gave us an ipad to check. Tom brought our cutlery in a tray and the cutlery for the allergy separate, saying in a jokey way that it was extra clean. One adult had steak, chips, mediterranean vegtables, mushrooms and grilled tomato, another had the same but with scampi added. The third adult had Mac and Cheese with garlic bread and a side salad with dressing. My grandaughter had chicken dippers with garlic bread, baked beans from the child menu, and a side of onion rings. The beans were served in a dish that was warm but the beans were not. She wasn't bothered so we just let it go. My grandaughter ordered chocolate fudge cake from main menu. It was 2 large slices of cake with lots of fudge and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Two spoons were brought in a tray, so luckily I was able to help her eat it. I like my coffee strong and hot but the americano I had fell short. We throughly enjoyed our meals, well cooked, hot and tasty. The service was very good and we are going back soon.
